Let the Cirque du Vrai begin!

OOC: The event starts today. It affects Attleton. Players can make their own posts and have fun with it or they can reply to this post with top levels and have fun that way! Up to you! There will be a separate log posted for the Showstopper on the 29th. Please note that if your character tries to enter the circus without a mask and costume (cannot be something your character already owned because it's not a disguise if it's theirs), they'll be prevented from getting in one way or the other. Don't try to get around it and don't try to be like WELL NO ONE CAN STOP MY CHARACTER!! If your character goes right past them they'll find themselves in the field the next day the second they go past the gates, capiche?? No cheating it's not fun for anyone.

As the sun sets in Attleton, a strange haze seems to glow over the barrier for a few moments before in the distance, a sequence of lights flickers on. The entrance sign first, then tents and merry-go-rounds and booths and all manner of dizzying fun illuminate just as darkness falls. It doesn't take more than a few seconds for the sounds of cheers and fun to fill the Attleton air. It almost seems like it's calling to you, inviting you in. As you approach, a man on stilts greets you. He explains that the flyers that have been floating around town with the wind and on the walls were all for this, the Cirque du Vrai! Become someone else to become yourself, step right up! You don't need to buy a ticket, you just need to buy a costume.

"There's a costume shop right next to the entrance for those who aren't prepared, and a master mask maker who will create any mask you desire, or leave it up to him once he decides what he thinks suits you. If you brought your own, that's fine too! The Cirque is here for days, there's time to spare! Don't let reservations drive you to despair! You'll miss out on fun if you let your life run all over the mystery we've so prestigiously spun. Test your skills, test your wills, find your chills, thrills, and pills. Here it is, the moment you've been waiting for is just beyond the gate! Accept who you are and you'll need none to commiserate!"

The man laughs, leaving before you can ask what that means to invite another in, and the game begins. Welcome to the Cirque du Vrai. Enjoy.

[Kay didn't react immediately when her arm wrapped against him. Not for lack of surprise, he was very much not expecting that, but he didn't want to give the other man the chance to grow suspicious.]

I'm sorry...dear. [Doubting only for a second longer, Kay put one of his arms around Colette's shoulders, careful not to do it too tightly. His body was still made of metal on the inside and rather heavy.]

She didn't have to tell you anything or explain herself. But if you have a problem with it, we could discuss it. [Kay made sure to straighten his back as he spoke, posture ready for a fight. He wasn't as big as he used to be but he could pack a punch, thank you very much.]

[Colette relaxes when Kay's arm wraps around her and she hides a blush in his side, peeking over at the obnoxious boy.

He looks ready to retaliate until he sees just how tall Kay is and wisely changes his mind.]

Yeah, whatever. Bitch ain't worth my time anyway; she's not even that good looking.

[ And the blush is gone and now she's trying not to cry. She had thought the dress fit her well, but maybe she had just been kidding herself... ]

[It's really sweet the way she blushes. To Kay, it's a strange but enjoyable feeling to know he's the reason it's happening.

He was ready to keep ignoring the man and leave with Colette to somewhere fun. Keyword: was.

Of course the man then had to go and be a jerk. For a split seconds Kay considers to tell him to go and procreate with himself but that doesn't seem enough. He gives Colette's a squeeze to comfort her before apologizing for moving away.]

Excuse me dear, this will only take a second.

[Kay doesn't say anything else as he takes a step forward and brings a knee up toward the man's stomach. However, Kay is now significantly shorter that he is in his usual droid body, and doesn't hit him in the stomach but much lower. It feels just as satisfying when the man goes pale and yowls.]

I guess that settles it.

[ Colette looks up as Kay pulls away, but he's promised to come back, so she just clasps her hands in front of her nervously while he handles things.

And handle them he does. The jerk goes down, cursing and squeaking about how Kay is a "fucking psycho." Yeah, he's done with them.

Colette steps behind Kay, hands clinging to the back of his cloak as she peers around him. ]

Is... is he okay?

[ He was a dick, sure, but she can't help but be a little concerned about him. She's Colette. ]

[Kay is tempted to kick him again for that comment. Colette is the only reason why he doesn't do that and why he doesn't immediately reply 'I hope not'. She seems concerned for the jerkass, which only reminds Kay how much of a sweet girl she is.]

Just in pain, he will be fine in a few minutes. [Or a few hours. Kay hopes the pain lasts even a few days. He twist and puts an arm around Colette again.] For what is worth, I think you look pretty and your dress is a lovely colour. Shall we go?

If you’re sure… [She’s not, but he seems like he knows what he’s talking about, so she’ll let it go. The guy did kind of deserve it, after all.

She blushes when he comments on her appearance.] T-thank you very much! And thanks for saving me. [She leans into his side.] You’re like my knight in shining armor!

Oh, absolutely. [Look at all the fucks Kay does not give about the guy, Colette. They're like, raining from the sky...Kay smiles down at her, a little nervously when she gets too close but soon enough he's moving his arms around her waist.]

It was nothing, don't worry. Where do you want to go now?

[Colette smiles when the arm is placed around her. She is so glad that she wore this dress.]

Ummm... I'm not really sure what else there is to do here... [Boy does she wish she knew more about these kinds of things so she could show him a good time. She thinks for a second.] You liked trying food, right? Have you had funnel cake yet? It smells really good!

[This is not so bad, or too difficult. It's only that Kay is not used to walking with people clinging to him, he thinks it's a nice chance.]

I haven't tried that one yet. How does it taste?

It's really sweet! It's fried dough with powdered sugar on top of it. Super yummy. I think there was a stand around here somewhere...

~~[True. IF ONLY that man let himself be hugged.]~~

[Kay has no idea what fried dough is but he knows Sugar. Sugar is good. Sugar taste great. And if he were really human, he would be salivating already.] I'd like to try it, yes. My treat, of course.

O-oh, are you sure? [The blush is back.] It’s no trouble for me to pay, really!

[In any case, she’s going to start to lead him towards where she’s pretty sure the vendor is.]
