Forward Dated 30th July: Sonico's Anniversary

*Sonico is smiling and waving in a friendly way at the camera. There's a large wild cat sat purring happily on her lap, but he seems pretty sleepy, only occasionally lifting its head towards the device*

Hello, everyone! I hope everyone is having a lovely day. I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you. I have been a part of this world for a year now and...I was quite lonely and scared when I first arrived. But now, I have such a wonderful group of friends and I am very happy here. So thank you, everyone, for being so welcoming and supportive. It means a lot.

Tonight, I'll be singing down at Hangar Queen. If you want a drink, just put it on my tab! 

[Action - Hangar Queen]

*There she is, on the stage, doing her thing. In full military outfit, Sonico is giving a very energetic and upbeat performance tonight. There are smiles and thanks between the songs. When she is done, there's time for mingling and chatting and some drinking too*

[Action - Closed to Mobius]

*At the end of the evening, it was time to go home. Sonico would finally have to change from her military uniform and back into her standard casual clothes, and then she'll go and find Mobius to see if he'd accompany her home. She scans the room for him first, because if he's busy and looks like he's having a good time she won't want to grab him away*

Whelp. That cat has gotten big. At least Sakuya doesn't have to worry about anyone attacking Sonico in her home. Either way she would be showing up at the Hangar Queen.

She needed a break, and now that Lisa was doing significantly better, she could do just that. And a swanky show and booze was just what she needed.

Sakuya arrived dressed in her black and white pinstripes and black skirt with white embroidery. Not exactly 'casual' but certainly better than showing up in a full on maid outfit.

After getting herself a drink and pulling up a seat at a table in the back, she simply enjoyed Sonico's performance on stage, making sure to clap with everyone between the songs... and perhaps growing a bit more enthusiastic after the third drink. She really needed to de-stress, okay?

And once it was over she pushed her chair out, gradually making her way across the room to where Sonico was. Though it might take a little while. There were quite a few people and she didn't want to be rude.

When Sakuya did make her way across the room to her and Sonico was finished talking to anyone else, she noticed her friend and waved to her brightly, "Sakuya!" It was nice to see her, especially considering she wasn't sure that this was exactly her type of thing. As she approached, she appraised her friend's outfit, "I like the stripes on you."

Well, truthfully this isn't Sakuya's "thing" really. There were two many people. But Sonico was also there. And so was alcohol. And she really, really needed a break from everything that had been going on in her life.

"Ah, thank you. I did not feel like wearing straight black today. Too gloomy for a party. But that is less important than the star of the show. It is really nice to see you Sonico. You have a truly wonderful singing voice."

Sakuya was a fairly happy drunk so from her tone and her smile it was clear to Sonico that she had already indulged. At least enough to make her somewhat tipsy.

Sonico looked a reasonable bit bashful at being called 'star of the show' and shook her head. "Oh! Not at all. Just one of the performers tonight. But thank you very much."

While Sonico did smile and appreciate the praise, there was something she did wonder as she tilted her head to the side. "Have you been enjoying yourself tonight? Relaxing with a drink? Or two?"

"Or three..." Sakuya admitted. "Honestly I've been working nonstop this past week. It's nice to get a few moments away from it all. Even if it is in an unusual place like this." Which was code for the place not being her first choice of recreation. But apparently hanging out with sonico trumped that. So that's that.

"I discovered a drink that you would love. I think. If you like orange. So come sit at the table with me and I'll go get you one. Not on your tab though. I'm not letting you pay for my drinks."

Sonico frowns as her friend explains her situation, gently shaking her head, "You need to make sure that you're not working so hard, Sakuya. Is there anything I can help you with?" Because clearly Sonico can't take her own advice, but when she isn't modelling her days are usually quite free.

"Oh, really? I'd love to try it. Are you going to have one too?" She isn't sure if Sakuya should be having anything more. Still, she'll take herself to Sakuya's table anyway as requested.

"I'm always working hard. I exist to work hard!" That was an unusual tone. Yeah, she's pretty tipsy. "But I like it. Working hard makes me feel alive." No, her stress was a bit more complicated than that.

And there was the smile. With the genuineness that could only be coaxed from the maid after sufficient alcohol. "Probably not. It's a bit sweet for my tastes. I'm going to have something a little more dry."

She gestured and made her way back to the table she had been sitting at and nabbing an unused chair for Sonico from one of the other tables before heading over to the bar. Several minutes later she was walking back with an amber and red drink as well as one that was so orange it was just shy of glowing in the dark.

And it was placed down in front of Sonico. "Here. Give it a try."

Sonico looked at the bright orange drink and smiled, amused by it. "Oh... These look fun! Is this what you have been drinking all night?" Sonico picked up the drink that had been given to her. "It tastes good, right?"

"I had one. It's a bit too sweet for me but it certainly is good. Of course I like my drinks a little more bitter." Sakuya took a long drink from her own, licking her lips.

"I am fond of the color, however. Such bright drinks are very attractive. I wonder if it would be possible to find one the same shade as your hair? It's such a nice shade of pink. Not too loud but just vibrant enough to stand out."

Okay. Maybe she was slightly more drunk than first impressions suggested.

Sonico shakes her head at the idea of bitter drinks, happy to have as much sweetness as she could get. She takes a sip of her bright orange drink and raises her brows - yup, that's sweet alright.

"Oh, you think so?" Sonico goes a little cross eyed as she looks up at her own hair. "I always wonder if it would be better if my hair was more...normal. But it runs in the family. Perhaps we can both find drinks to match our hair."

"Absolutely! It could be strawberry flavored. Easily. Maybe with some peach... I really like peaches." Wow. Sakuya just admitted she had a personal preference about something.

At the suggestion of her own hair though the maid shook her head. "No. Who would want to drink something grey? I mean... something silvery might be fun but I can't imagine how that might be done." She did have a point there. Her eyes might be a better color to shoot for since they were a rather unusual shade of blue.

She took another drink from her glass. Sonico could probably smell that it was fairly strong.

"I like peaches too!" What a happy little conversation, quite unlike the usual ones they had.

Sonico pouted a little though as Sakuya talked about her hair. "Not at all. I like the colour of your hair. Perhaps the drink could be...milky. Or vanilla!" Okay it wouldn't be quite right, but close.

Sonico watched her friend drink and lowered her eyes shyly, "Sakuya...is everything alright? I mean, is there a reason for your drinking and...celebrating?" Trying to put it as nicely as possible.

"Mm?" Sakuya looked back up at Sonico. "Oh... Well I guess something milky would work. But vanilla isn't usually this color of grey is what I meant." My goodness she was a happy drunk.

She did pause and blink at the question though. "Is everything alright?" She echoed. "Of course it is. I have not had any free time though since Lady Tepes showed up as she was injured and needed care. And Lord Tepes has been quite upset. So I've been having to deal with affairs in the castle, my normal duties, my work at the diner, and at the magic shop... So if I am going to have a good time I want to have a good time!"

The trysts with the castle's succubae didn't count.

She inched her chair closer to Sonico's and... wow. A hug. Initiated from Sakuya. Well, okay it was a one-armed hug and a little stiff, but still. "Please do not concern yourself with my well-being even if such worries are appreciated. I've had to endure much worse in the past."

"That's true. I wonder if you could put some kind of black food colouring or something like that..." She had seen some interesting shades of cocktails since arriving in Genessia, and wonders if something like that might be possible. Sonico giggles at the idea, and at seeing Sakuya in such a good mood.

"Sakuya... You work too hard. You need to let yourself have more good times, to make up for all the work times. I know you enjoy your work, but you need to take it easy." Once again, it was like Sonico was repeating the advice that many others had given to her in the past.

Neither of the girls are particularly touchy feely or the hugging type, but Sakuya has found Sonico in a good mood and is adding to it, as is the cocktail, so Sonico returns the gesture in kind. "Well, I am glad you are able to have a good time tonight."

"No I meant... Vanilla is usually a peachy color. Just a little bit. Off-white. Not usually grey. I will think of something though..." She sort of trailed off, covering her mouth and pausing, likely stifling a burp or hiccup.

"Oh don't you start on that too. Everyone says I work too hard. I don't work too hard, do I?" You work way too hard, Sakuya. She gave Sonico a more firm squeeze. "You are far too concerned about me. You know that right? I do not have the karma to afford someone nice enough to look after my well-being."

Please cut Sakuya off. She's showing physical affection and talking about her feelings.

"I'm not far too concerned. I'm exactly the right amount of concerned. And you don't have to spend any of your karma on me - I'm giving you my worry time for free." No, Sonico isn't going to shut her off just yet. She has to say her piece and make sure that Sakuya feels appreciated.

Yes, they have probably both nearly finished their drinks by now, but Sonico takes this moment to raise hers towards her friend. "To Sakuya! For taking some time off to have fun!"

Cut her off from the alcohol. At this rate she's going to express even more of her feelings! The horror!

"That's not right. Nothing is free." She was pouting a little bit. "And don't toast me. I should toast you. You performed wonderfully." Sakuya raised her glass. "All I did was show up. So this one is to you, Sonico." And she tapped her friend's glass gently with her own.

"Then it isn't free. It's in exchange for you being a good friend." Sonico really hasn't had that much to drink tonight, but this feelings stuff is catching. She smiled at at Sakuya's compliment and bowed her head in thanks, "Thank you..." Once the glasses touched, Sonico was happy to swiftly finish her cocktail.
