genessia | A new adventure? (Issue #1)

[ After relocating from the bay and listening to the message the young girl in the hologram had given, Hiro hadn't wasted too much time thinking about things before deciding to test out ways to use the device he'd found at his side. Everything was still kind of confusing, but at least the technology was cool! It was probably going to be a really important thing to have.

Note to self: don't lose item or delete from inventory.

It took only a few minutes to figure out the basics of the network posting system. A lot of other people seemed to be introducing themselves, so maybe that meant he should too? It was a first step, anyway. ]

[ Hiro was definitely more careful in learning about the video function than he had been with the texting part of the network. He would have to work on that more later. For now, round two! As soon as the video began Hiro was already mid-wave, smiling brightly and looking way too enthusiastic for someone who was in the situation he was. ]

Hello again. If you saw my previous network post, please ignore it so we can start over. [ He bowed quickly. ] My name is Hiro Nakamura. I'm new here. [ He held up his necklace as if that somehow proved his point. It had already found a home around his neck. ] I have lots of questions, but for the sake of letting my quest unfold properly I will only ask a few. First -- [ He held up the box that he'd found in the bay. ] These are our key items, right? Is there a reason we all get the same ones? Usually in quests everyone has a different class, so I'm not sure I understand the rules of this RPG yet. The tutorial wasn't all that long. [ He almost looked like he was pouting about it for a second. ]

I have a feeling I'll need to learn about all the different cities soon, so if you can volunteer to show me around I would be very grateful. I'm not sure how red bills translate to yen or dollars so I don't know what fair payment would be... [ Oh! He'd almost forgotten something. ] One more thing, Genessia. Do you know where to find a good diner? [ One more bow for good measure. ] Thank you!

[ After announcing himself twice, Hiro was at least sure that someone or other would respond eventually. Until then, he had a map and a bit too much curiosity. Maps are always key items, so he may as well use it. A while was spent getting his bearings a bit more, but after a bit longer it turned to aimless walking and thinking. Lots of thinking. There were some things he just couldn't ask on the network. Things about his power, mostly. Did it still work? Were others with powers here? He had wanted to inquire about his friends as well, but putting their names out might be dangerous. It would be super, duper dangerous if one of the bad guys was here. At home the heroes had won, but...

what year was it, anyway? Was this even the right timeline?

It would be really easy to bump into him right now. He wasn't paying attention at all. ]

One (1) caped time-traveler named Dave. Hiro's just going to have him stroll up next to him from who-knows-where with his hands in his pockets and a single eyebrow raised up at him. ]

Okay. So what are we showing me? If you drop your pants, I'm going to punch you.

I'm not a kidnapper! But, I can't disagree that you are exercising proper caution. I don't want to swipe anything!

[ Initially Hiro had been all excitement, but Dave Strider's apprehension had made him feel a little nervous. Would he do something wrong and give a bad impression? He really didn't want to do that.

It took him a moment to realize that the person talking to him was also the person he was waiting for. He raised his eyebrows, not hiding that he was surprised. ]

You are Dave Strider, literal god of time? [ Unfortunately, that was all he was able to say before the comment about pants not being properly belted. He rapidly waved his hands. ] No no no! I don't know how to convince you I am not that kind of person! I wanted to talk about your power! [ That might have been a little blunt, but he probably would have been blunt about it flustered or not. ]

[ Dave's tilting his head back a bit, looking at him with a more-or-less pretty blank look. ]

That's me. 'Sup. [ Ha ha ha. This poor guy. He might have smirked a little. This little shit. ] I'm just fucking with you. What about it?

You are messing with me again?! [ Hiro practically sighed the word, dropping his hands and looking at the teen in exasperation. No, he certainly wasn't what Hiro thought to associate with a god of time at all. But... maybe he was older than he looked? You would be able to control aging if you were a god, wouldn't you? Every question made a new one! He wanted to ask all of them, too, but he had to get the most important part out of the way first. Time to get serious! ]

It is like I said before. You will understand if I show you! So wait and watch, okay? [ He would understand, right? He surely wouldn't freeze like everyone else. Surely. Maybe. Hopefully? Too late to go back on the plan now. He was already doing his best squinting concentration face.

And then everything else stopped. ]

A little bit. I mean, still a genuine concern because of stranger danger. Gotta watch my own ass so nobody creepy does, you know? Not that I thought you were. [ Super casual about the entire thing. His hands slip into his pockets and he shrugs is shoulders up. ]

Okaaaaaay. [ He doesn't know what he's expecting. He keeps looking at Hiro, wrinkling his nose a little at the face he's making. Dave is not touching Hiro. Dave is also not frozen like everything else around them now. He doesn't seem particularly phased outside of a quick glance around. ] You didn't just crap your pants, did you? I mean- obviously you stopped time. Sorta. It's still moving at like several nanoseconds but whatever. That face looks like you're straining yourself super hard and might pop several blood vessels. Does that hurt? How hard are you concentrating here, man? You're going to give yourself an aneurysm doing that.
