[dogs. dogs everywhere. Genessia, Attleton, Nova City, Everglades, Fayren, wherever there is a pound or animal shelter, they've been sprung from them and are now baying through the streets or sleeping on doorsteps or rummaging through trash.

Through Genessia proper though, there is a pack of them, charging through the streets, baying excitedly. In the middle of them is one shirtless hat less pirate, rolling along on a skateboard despite the fact that his hands are cuffed behind him. At intervals, he'll throw back his head and howl as he goes along]

[a little later, he's sitting against a wall, breathless and excited, comm propped between his knees as he grins wildly at the camera though it, dogs sleeping all around him and a pooped pug on his head, snoring upside down with her legs twitching in the air]

Yo! I'm here. I'm back. Anyone got food? Or a key? Marco? Namur? Adela? [his grin widens] Taisa? Come find me. I'm free.


[Locked to whoever is in Namur's apartment]

[at some point, at Namur's apartment, this same certain pirate may be seen sleeping against the outside of the window, as if he was trying to jimmy it open with his teeth and conked out during the attempt]

[he doesn't take long for Ace to spot him. He grins and would wave but, hands cuffed behind his back so he just rolls to a stop]

[ It wasn't obvious from the camera angle in the video, but now that he sees him? Why does he have his hands handcuffed. Why hasn't he asked for help. What is even happening.

He had been crouching, petting many new friends, but stands to greet Ace. ]

Yep! Some from the pound, too. Here if you're going to run with us, carry Princess. [picks up a dog and hands her over] She's a little old and keeps falling behind.

[ A little old? The poor girl looked blind and probably had mange. He scowled. Didn't anyone in these shelters take care of these dogs?

Still scowling, not thinking about how he looked, he took the frightening-looking mongrel carefully in his arms. She certainly didn't smell healthy, either. ]

She's been chewin on her feet.

Oh yeah? [he looks over at her and frowns] Think we should take her to a doctor?

[ Princess was drooling. Perhaps snarling a little? Or was she just breathing really loudly? Shinjiro didn't really look thrilled to be holding her, but he couldn't very well put her down, either.

He'd seen uglier. Hell, he'd been uglier. He looked at Ace. ]

Dunno. Probably. I ain't a vet. But doesn't she look ... ?

Like someone doesn't know what the hell they're doin, takin care of her. [ Grumbles, irritated.

Princess is shivering a little. Shinjiro decides to hold the creature closer, and resolves to wash the coat later. He doesn't want to spread the mange to other dogs, after all. ]

Look, I can take her to a vet somewhere. Um.

If I can figure out where one is. Only been here for a week.

Maybe one of the other shelters has one. [a lot of the dogs are in good shape] I can show you where one is but I can't hang around since they're pretty mad at me.

[ Smirks a little: ] Can't imagine why.

[ The guy seems to move around really well on the skateboard, even in handcuffs. Shinjiro keeps meaning to ask why he's cuffed. Even wants to ask how he managed to free a few dozen dogs, at least, while handcuffed.

But, priorities. They've got a sick dog here! ]

So you're a pretty good guy. Where do you come from?

[ Feels a little embarrassed. Suddenly occurs to him that a lot of people would probably take one look at the mutt in his arms and run. Then again, a lot of people were jerks.

Shrugs: ] Iwatodai.

[ Remembers, then, where he is. ] That's a city in Japan. If y'got a Japan where you're from.

Nah but I've heard of it. Japan. [not much about it. Just that some people are from there] What do you do?

[ Ah, to decide between "I was a homeless vagrant" or "I got mixed up with a top-secret group of teenaged kids who fought evil creatures nobody could see in order to protect humanity." Whelp. ]

Nothin much. I was kinda takin a break from school, jobs. Housing. Y'know how it is.

[ Shrugs, like it wasn't a big deal.

Nah not really. [he's never really done any of that except housing] I always thought school would be pretty boring.

[ Another shrug. This guy seemed all right, but he still wasn't going to get into his reasons for being what he was. ]

They standard police cuffs, or somethin fancier?

Seastone. Nearly impossible to break. Also makes me tired as hell. [it's all he can do to stay awake really] Probably easier if someone can just pick the lock.

[ Lockpicking wasn't something he ever got the hang of. He had been homeless, not a thief, and most abandoned places that were prime for squatting were easy enough to break into with brute force.

Looks down at Princess. She appeared to be resigned to being held, at least, with minimal complaint. ]

Yanno. After we get her checked out, I can ask around, see if I can find somebody who ain't gonna ask too many questions.

You think? That'd be great. I'll owe you one. [he's got red bills on him but he hopes to give the guy more than that. Princess whines in the guy's arms and seems to fall asleep. Well it kinda looks like she died but she's snoring so]

[ Considers that. The apartment he lives in right now didn't allow pets, but surely he could hide her for a week or two until he got a real place. It's not like anyone would probably adopt her. Poor thing didn't need to go right back to shelter that got her to this state anyway. Provided he find a job -

Fuck. No. Castor would kill her. Once the drugs ran out, Castor would definitely - he needed to get away. So, that'd at least mean abandoneding her all over again.

Can't keep the stormcloud of self-loathing completely off his face, but covers for it. ]

Can't. Apartment is pet-free. And a homeless guy would be a shitty dog owner. She deserves better.
