Nova City has become a home to me. Which is what makes this incredibly difficult. The type of person I decided I wanted to be was the type of person who protects others- someone who fights to make things right, and be a better person than people expect of me. Being Nova City's Guardian has let me be that person, but it takes a toll. Everyone has a point at which their bias and self-interest conflicts with being able to do the right thing. I've recently begun to see where that point lies for me. Before I reach it, I'm going to do the right thing one last time for Nova City.

[ Weiss takes a deep breath, her fingers gripping slightly before she releases both them and the breath. ]

Today is my last day as City Guardian. In my place until the next election, Deputies Garrus Vakarian and Mercury Black will be acting as co-Guardians to lead the Nova City Guardian team. They have very different styles so it may be an.. interesting transition, but I think the contrast and balance will ultimately help to keep Nova City a fair and safe place.

[ She's so aware that it's going to be a controversial decision. Mercury is rash, with little leadership experience, but he got things done and he was decisive. He wouldn't play around with unnecessary ventures, and Weiss honestly felt that if he was going to continue down the path he was on, he needed to be motivated to do that. She'd give him the responsibilities and hoped he picked up on it, using his already skillfully trained abilities to support it. Garrus was far more justice-oriented and enthusiastic about the job, and much more intelligent, but he also acted too quickly and ended up on wild goose chases or involved in ridiculous drama somehow. The biggest worry she had about the team-up would be whether they would go too far in the name of justice, but she was hoping the remaining deputies would keep them in check in that aspect. Her other deputies may have been more qualified individually, but they were less likely to be followed by the rest of the team or more likely to be influenced by outside parties. It was the only combination that worked. They elected her, hopefully they trusted her deputies to uphold her standards in her stead. ]

100% Not OK. Jaune might have been informed of Weiss's decision, but a part of him had hoped in vain that she would change her mind. That this was her really messed up attempt at a prank. Maybe he would have been more accepting of her decision if she had gone into more detail why. As far as he could see, Weiss was abandoning Nova City. Abandoning him her team. And as livid as he was, quitting wasn't like her.

But keeping secrets certainly was.

He regrets his reaction, but that doesn't stop him from trying to drill his stare into her without any hint of warmth.]

[ Weiss takes a little while to respond. She knows Jaune wants her to tell him, but she can't. He doesn't react well to people treating Weiss negatively on a normal day, getting any details about her family situation are only going to make things worse. ]

It's not a loss, Jaune. I'm okay. Please just trust me that I know what I'm doing. It was my decision to resign. Sometimes it's important to realize when you're holding onto something for selfish reasons and putting the thing you want to protect in danger by doing it.

So I guess it's official, huh? I have to say, it's going to be strange around here without you.

Is there anything I should know about? And responsibilities, intel, things about the team, my new partner, or the like?

Keep an eye on Schnee Company and the mayor's office. I'm also going to tell the other Guardians about the dead people in the Bay, but try to keep that quiet until we can verify that it wasn't just a special case on our own. The last thing we need is someone thinking they should test it on their own terms.

Mercury is a jerk, but he'll do the job. I know you're probably going to have trouble with him but try to remember that at least I believe he really wants to make a difference.

I usually deal with the other Guardians, so heads up regarding them:
-Grell has no fashion sense and is kind of a brat, but will get serious when things matter. She may have a situation with Lord Tepes in the future that she may need your assistance and cooperation with under the table, please ask her for details and offer assistance.

-David has a specialty prison if you run into anyone with superpowers that can't be held by our regular prison. He's a good man and he won't use his powers on you without permission, so don't feel nervous about him at all.

-Yukiko is sweet and cooperative and focused on helping people from a less violent side of things usually, like healing. That said, Mewtwo is also in Fayren and is willing to help with certain situations, particularly Pokemon-related ones. You can ask him for help too, but just be aware that he's very sensitive and is currently at odds with Yukiko because he believes he knows what's best for Fayren and refuses to take anyone else's answer as possible.

-You know Cassian pretty well from what I understand, so I don't need to share much about him, but you do need to discuss the project I'd spoken to him about with him. Our holding cell in Nova City contains some kind of power-blocking technology. I was working with a person by the name of Pidge who is good at replicating technology. Pidge doesn't know the details yet because I wanted to test them first before filling them in, but the project with Cassian for anti-power cuffs is the one you need to speak to Pidge about getting underway.

If you have any specific criminals I'll happily share tips, but I think everything should be there in the files.

[ This had to be some kind of family drama. Anyone with a brain could put as much together. Oswald didn't exactly know Weiss Schnee personally, but everyone knew of her. She had a reputation, after all. A reputation that she now wasn't lining up with because of some unsaid circumstance. Interesting to say the least.

Of course he felt that he owed some type of comment on the matter. Though, not quite even acquaintances or otherwise, they still had similar jobs. Or... used to, in her case. ]

I have to say, Miss Schnee, this does come as a surprise. There's little to say that others haven't or won't, but you have my regards. You've made a brave move.

Dorian helped her when she needed it, then when she tried to talk to Sun about it he didn't shoot her down or blame her for thinking about it for a while without immediately telling him. Then the fact that people aren't calling her a quitter (most people anyway) and aren't making her feel bad about her choice.. it helps. A lot. ]

I won't. I want to be City Guardian still more than anything, but doing that means putting the protection of the city first. The only way to be a good Guardian for me right now is not to be Guardian, at least until I can learn to handle my personal business in a way that won't affect my ability to do my job.
