Action | Bay and Exterior

[Disorientation was not unknown to Fenris. He’d experienced it several times in his past, but never quite in such a way. Uncertain what the pamphlet suggested aside from images of the device included in the box, he grumbled and shoved the pamphlet, the red papers included, along with the phone, into a pouch at his waist and strode through the water without hesitation. He’d faced demons and worse before, and while he was alone, he certainly wasn’t going to allow the weakness of fear show, and the spiked armor and large sword lashed to his back went a long way to help the image along.

When he approached the stand on which Weiss’ Transmission played, he glared at it but did not balk. Magic, then. Of course. He’d never heard of this Genessia, but at least the necklace was familiar. So, their kidnappers have pretty chains, then. It didn’t change what they were and he grimaced at the thought. This was all a grand deception, to be sure, even for a former slave as valuable as himself, so he had no reason to doubt the image witch’s integrity.

Still, as much as it pained him to do so, he needed more information than her repeating message supplied. Surely he wasn’t alone in this place, for this witch would not have seen fit to spend the energy to place this message here for only his benefit, and so he took up a spot leaning against the side of the map booth and would address anyone who happened past.
]

You, there. I...require assistance, if you've the mind.

[He’ll not force anyone, but manners aren’t exactly his forte.]

[ Before the trips to Fayren, before talk of magic and seeing it in person, this man might have been strange to Dorothy.

Now, even after a few days, she's learned to just blame Genessia.

Looks up at him. Seems very calm. ]

It's in the pamphlet, too.

Where would you like to go?

[ There's a pause, but no visible surprise. Or anything. ]

I see.

[ Opens the pamphlet. Reads out the address, in an even tone. Not too fast, not slow. Just like her normal speaking voice. Looks up. ]

I can read the rest of it to you, if you'd like.
pianola: Dorothy looking down, very disapproving (then dirt in truth is clean)

[ Eyes narrow, just slightly, in turn.

Faintly cool ]
I was not aware you had known the name.

I can show you the way. If you are also aware of the city layout, then my actions will continue to be unhelpful.

[ Turns, so she can walk towards the appropriate portal. ]

[ Flat, cool ] I hadn't known what you heard.

[ Dorothy's weakness was social queues, not even realizing what she had implied. All she knew is, she gave exactly the help she was asked for, and then was scolded for it.

But she waits for Fenris, not being so annoyed as to passive-aggressively walk in front of him.

She was self aware enough to consider the misunderstanding might be an error on her part. ]

... I should warn you. Through this portal. It may seem even stranger.

A city.

[ Thinks, for a moment. She's already learned that worlds can be vastly different. Hers, compared to Genessia, was just a small example. ]

I don't know what your world is like.

This may have things you have never seen.

[ There was nothing for it, however, than to go forward. But she would not make the decision for him.

She looks at the stranger. ]

Whenever you are ready.

[ Right, then. She takes his word for it, and walks through the portal.

Then, waits.

She's not certain what his reaction is going to be.

Actually, Dorothy his half-expecting the stranger to look at Genessia City, shrug, and ask her why she bothered with the warning. ]

[ Then, begins to walk ]

I apologize for being cautious. I've seen many people react differently when arriving here.

...

My name is R. Dorothy Wayneright.

Few emotions serve purpose. People have them all the same.

[ Even she did, as little as she ever admitted to it. Still. She did wonder, a little bit, if he admitted to fear - what caused him to repress it, keep in all within? He looked biological, even if he wasn't human. She had still much to learn, however, about other people here. ]

It's nice to meet you, Fenris.

I see.

[ Most people who claimed control over their emotions usually lost that control, dramatically, under some manner of stress. She didn't know if this was the case with Fenris. She didn't want to have her theory tested.

She'd been observing. He wasn't built like a strong human would be - there was no hulking height, no broad shoulders, and his limbs weren't as thick as her torso. But he moved in ways her pattern recognition routines acknowledged as like a combatant. Those tattoos seemed to glow with some kind of strange energy signature she didn't understand.

Maybe he was some kind of artificial construct after all. She didn't know. ]

You're welcome.

[ A short pause. She feels like she should explain. After how hostile Fenris initially seemed given help ... ]

When I arrived here, people stopped for me.

I didn't think I needed the help. But there are many things here I didn't understand.

I wanted to do the same for others.

Yes. Of course.

[ Dorothy meets his gaze squarely, calm and unblinking as always. ]

If I can help you, I will.
pianola: Dorothy, looking emotionless, looking up as you look down at her. (Default)

[ It didn't even occur to her that Fenris wouldn't even know what an android was. Even people here in Genessia who didn't come from a world with that technology seemed to have fictional robots, at least. ]

Yes. It is right down that road.

... Good luck.

[ He looked like he could handle himself, but she knew this place had a tendency for throwing people out of their element quickly. ]
