Action;

[Waking up in a cocoon wasn't something that Mikleo expected. It was possibly something to do with Nyoi-cho having another shift. He wasn't freaking out yet. So expecting to wake up in his home, he was cautious about where he was. Weird things like this have happened before, so it wasn't a stretch to say that Kyuubey was up to something again. After getting out of the cocoon and grabbing the stuff he woke up with, he quickly felt for his circlet. It was still there, but the question was, was it still connected to his own life force? Part of him wanted to test to see if that was true, but he knew that was a stupid idea; it was best not to experiment with it. He'd find out soon enough.

Okay, well now that he's addressed that, he turned his attention to his surroundings. He didn't feel that pinging in his mind letting him know that there were any Magi around... That in itself was strange to him. He then looked to the phone he woke up with. It was obviously a phone, but it wasn't the one he'd gotten back in Nyoi-cho. It was much more advanced than his other one (he had a simple flip phone) and he wasn't sure he'd be able to work this phone that well. His pocket mirror.... Where did that go? He couldn't find it on his persons, so he was assuming that he no longer had it with him. Guess he wasn't going to be contacting the other Magi with it. Well, it was time to find out after he check out what was going on with the holograph.]

Video;

[Mikleo has tried to catch up on the basics while being here before turning to the phone. He seemed pretty calm for someone who'd just awoken here.]

I think this is a getting a bit out of hand, don't you, Kyuubey?

[Not that he expected him to respond to him, but he'll call him out on this bullshit right away.]

So what's going on with Nyoi-cho now, hm? I'm assuming to has some witch influence in some way. If that's the case, I'm going to need all the information I can gather. If there's a Nightmare going on, I have to do what I can to try to help.

Well, whatever the case is, if there are any fellow Magi around here, it would be good to know so that we can work together to solve this. My name is Mikleo and I'm from Elysia, back in my world. If there are people from my world that are here with me, I only have one thing to say to you.

You're all idiots for selling your soul to Kyuubey. [Not that he can say anything. He's an idiot who's sold his soul a while back.]

Anyways, I'll be making my rounds, but there's a lot that I ned to find out about this 'Genessia'. If there's anyone who recognizes me, let me know.

[And just like that, he's done.]

[OOC: Mikleo is a CRAU from Soulgemmed, a Puella Magi Madoka Magica AU game. You can find the
information here in his OOC intro that I put up a while ago. But just like I said there, he won't have his abilities from SG (he'll have his normal abilities) nor will he have a working Soul Gem, but he will retain his memories. If there are any people that he was friends with there here, he'll more than likely remember them. If you would rather he didn't remember you, that's completely okay! Just let me know. Otherwise you're free to just say you don't know him because I don't expect anyone to do so. I have a feeling if he was friends with them before, he can become friends with them again.]

[ The phone thing proved that people could see him, which was not the weirdest but still pretty weird, so into a holster that goes, and he winds the necklace around an arm as he wanders.

... Might as well explore the city until its evening, at least. Not too weird for humans, right?? Ugh, when was the last time he paid that much attention?

Hello, Genessians. As you all will have no doubt noticed, a hostage crisis has just come and gone, and it's hardly the first nor even the most dire situation of its kind. Though it was resolved without significant loss of innocent life, many of you have expressed concerns to the effect that it never should have escalated to that stage in the first place.

Back in Eorzea, I was a member of an organization dedicated to the resolution of situations like this. Kidnapping and worse are more common there, because the Beast tribes often supplement their summoning rituals with sacrifice - and oft times, the authorities are too late to rescue the poor souls stolen from their beds because of bureaucratic red tape. The Scions were the sword they could not be, a blade of light against the darkness - one that could strike without waiting for the machinations of bureaucrats to deem the cause 'worthy'.

They could do this because they had already won the approval of the Grand Companies, as well as the individual nations' monarchs. When rogue gods shook the realm, pirates bloodied the waters where the Maelstrom could not reach, poachers stalked the Twelveswood, or dragons darkened the skies of Ishgard, we were there. Ours was oft a thankless task; many times were we even vilified. But none could say we did not do what was needed.

I propose to open a branch of that organization here, in Genessia. A group of individuals with skills suited to the task of roving the land and seeking out trouble wherever it may roost, dealing with threats both too large and too small for the established authorities to handle. A sort of special operations force, one that can move about independently of the Guardians, who must needs defend their own cities first.

I do not offer this service idly, nor easily, for I must confess that this very job has cost me much and more in Eorzea. Blood, and tears. Bright lives lost far too early, great men and women hewn down by forces they could not hope to oppose, and the dagger of betrayal - all have sought out my doorstep.

If you would seek me out, come to the Meteor tavern in Fayren. I'll be waiting.

((OOC note: Sick mun alert. Tags will come in bursts. Fair warning.))

[Things are barely starting to calm down and already something got Eleanor's mind all up in a tizzy.

It was all thanks to a stupid newspaper sitting out on display at a convenient store. After seeing this headline, she can be found (and heard) pacing around Genessia city carrying on a conversation.

...but with whom? Clearly nobody in particular, except for herself. The poor people who see this spectacle have absolutely no idea what to make of this.]

An amore festival... As in Valentine's Day and all that? I... Suppose it might be worth checking out. And bringing a date is encouraged as well... But I even know any men? ... There's Prompto... But I haven't seen him around. Gladiolus? Same... Radec is a mystery, but... I don't actually know him.

Then there's Theodore...
...I don't understand him though.

By the Empyreans... Do I really not know anyone? And I've been here how long now? Am I just doomed to live out my life in lonely isolation?

[A pause, then a amused chuckle.]

Yeah right... I'm an Exorcist, as long as I have people to help and a ideal world to fight for, I can be perfectly content never marrying...

[A longer pause now.]

But can I really be happy? I mean, this is a new world. There are no daemons to fight. No duty to the Empire. Do I have to be "Eleanor the Praetor Exorcist?" Isn't this my chance to set aside my spear and find love?

Should I try asking someone? Or should I wait and let a gentleman ask me first...?

[Upon arrival, Natalia listened very carefully to the holographic message. The delivery was fascinating, even if the information conveyed was...troubling, to put it lightly. But to panic would be unbecoming her station. There was more she needed to know. As such, she followed the instructions given and visited the Schnee Company's Genessia division. There she sat calmly and politely, asking her questions, and receiving her answers. It did much to put her fears to rest, particularly once she knew that time would not pass until she returned. The expedition to the Absorption Gate would not be stalled on account of her disappearance.]

[That meant her next step was to get herself settled. It was very strange to think about integrating herself as one of this small world's citizens and living as one of them. But if that was the way things were done, she had little choice but to do them. She still needed money to eat, after all, and her gald was simply no good here.]

[So, after placing a request for job suggestions at the employment office, she finally feels secure enough to make her first video transmission.]

[And there she is, her bearing as regal as it ever was, her manner of speech refined and stately.]

Greetings. My name is Natalia Luzu Kimlasca-Lanvaldear. I have just arrived in this world, and I look forward to making your acquaintance.

[The young woman inclines her head.]

As one of the citizens of this world, for the time being I am inclined to offer my assistance, both to the cities in general as well as to you, the inhabitants, until the powers that be see fit to return me to my world of Auldrant. Should there be any urgent matters, please, I beg you to alert me at once. I am a master of Lanvaldear-style archery, and you'll find that I'm quite adept at healing Artes as well.

[She's still wearing her quiver, even though she's seated calmly on the edge of her bed within the Commonsroom she was assigned.]

I also have extensive experience organizing and assisting with public works projects. You will not find me content to sit idly by awaiting dismissal.

Should you have any questions, please make them known. Farewell.

[Natalia hesitates for a moment as she furrows her brow, seeking the switch that ends the feed. Once the transmission is ended, she draws a deep breath and releases it slowly. Strangely enough, she doesn't feel frightened or particularly shaken. But perhaps, she's willing to concede, she may be in a state of shock and disbelief.]

[That seems unlikely, though.]

[Picking up her bow and slinging it over her shoulders, the princess departs her quarters and moves into the snowy streets. Given that her last location was the northern and frigid city of Keterburg, at least there's no great change in temperature or weather. She meant what she said about not wishing to sit about; the best way to acclimate herself to this world is to explore it and meet others face to face. And that is exactly what she sets out to do.]

[he grins] Anywhere to not go? I'm open for suggestions, recommendations, advice or good old fashioned flirting if you're bored with all the above. After all, ladies, I'm free. [a wink]

Gentlemen? [he spreads his hands in a conciliatory gesture] Better luck next time.

he wouldn't be replying back unless he didn't get a response. someone was slipping away as he spoke.]

Weiss Schnee's been attacked. We need any medical staff down to the Dream Dock on Quince Avenue. Heals on Wheels, [he starts delving into names,] Angela, Colette, Orihime, anyone out there we need emergency medical treatment.

There's a very large sword strapped across his back, but otherwise, he's dressed quite casually in black.

He smirks into the camera. ]

WHO: OPEN TO ALL!
WHAT: Holiday party! Date auction! Shenanigans.
WHEN: December 15th, 2017 - Evening
WHERE: Fairy Tale HQ - Fayren
NOTES: The auction and the kissing contest are time sensitive! Bids close and the last kiss will be accepted on Friday, December 22nd, at midnight PST!

Fayren didn't have electricity, but it had something even better.

MAGIC!

There were twinkling colored lights that burned, flickered, and floated in an ethereal way, enchanting the building in a way that fluorescent lights never could. Branches of evergreen were hung here and there to give the air a fresh pine scent. There were also pinecones doused with cinnamon and nutmeg near the doorways.

Except near the kitchens, because the food smells were more than enough to entice the senses. There were mini-sausages swimming in a thick and spicy sauce, sweet and tangy meatballs on toothpicks, vegetables and dip, bite-sized cream puffs, iced sugar cookies, cheese and crackers, mulled cider, and eggnog in alcoholic and non-alcoholic varieties.

The main room, expansive as it was, had plenty of room for music, dancing, and mingling. There were some tables and several chairs set up, and a small stage where musicians were welcome to perform to their heart's content. To the side was an even smaller stage where a sprig of mistletoe was suspended on a loop of scarlet ribbon, with a sign that reads: "Test Your Passion! Win This Arcade Game!" And next to that was a full-sized arcade game version of Alley Brawlers. Might be worth checking out!

But there were more games than that, and more than a few maps set up on easels of the headquarters and where to go to play certain games. A single lane bowling alley (with manual set-up of the pins), a "fishing" booth where people toss a clothespin on a fishing line over a curtain to have a little prize attached by someone hidden on the other side, a ring toss for cans of soda, a cake walk (with full-sized cakes for the winners and cupcakes for the losers), ornament decorating, pin-the-tail-on-the-unicorn, face painting, a pool of rubber ducks with numbers corresponding to prizes on the bottom, goldfish scooping... Almost anything one would find at a carnival was sure to be found here.

As for the auction? Step right up, right past the gauzy white curtains into a big room lit with twinkling golden lights. Anyone was welcome to come in, but if someone wanted to participate as a bidder, they'd have to make a donation at the door. In return, each donor would receive a packet of 100 red tickets with the same number assigned to the bidder name: one roll of tickets with 101 for the first donor, a roll of tickets with 102 for the second donor, and so on.

Cookies and punch were available in this room, with several tables and chairs set up before a large stage with a microphone. Along the wall was a line of clear plastic boxes, with slots on top, set in front of each auction date's face. A card that indicated the name of each person, their age, and a brief description of what they were all about was pasted onto the front of the boxes. People were welcome to look at the line-up if they wanted, or even use some of their tickets prematurely if they wanted, as they were clearly for a drawing. Until the auction starts, soft piano music plays from a stereo running on batteries.

[ ACTION ]

There's a girl wandering around the Bay, looking lost and confused. She's wearing a green sleeveless top, with white shorts, and flat white shoes which are quickly becoming soaked in the water. She looks very lost, understandably uncomfortable, and on the verge of tears.

Still. She's valiantly holding them in. Just because the hologram said there was no way to get back - just because she'd been snatched from a nice relaxing Sunday without any warning at all - just because, just because, just because -

She swallowed. Usagi had been in worse situations. She'd faced down impossible things. She could do this.

... But. She really didn't want to do it alone.

[ VIDEO ]

[ Will wonders ever cease? Usagi somehow figured the right to archway to go through, and she's in Genessia City, judging by the background.

Still, her thumb is in the way for the beginning of the shot, until she realizes she's covering the camera, and fumbles for a bit, trying to hold the phone correctly.

She puts on a fake smile and laughs, probably somewhat convincing. ]

H-hi!

My name is Usagi Tsukino, and I'm sixteen, and I'm from -

- um. Well. I guess that doesn't matter. Ha ha ha ...

So.

...

Are we really, really stuck here? No way out?

There isn't anyone ... bad or scary or evil keeping us here?

And. Are we. Um.

[ Her facade cracks a bit. ]

... Is there really no way for us to at least talk to our friends at home, somehow?

[Winter's severe disapproval and judgment is on open display. She makes no effort to disguise her displeasure, her brow darkening, the corners of her mouth descending.]

The recent rash of monster attacks and general assortment of chaos has left me to question the leadership capabilities of those who deem themselves fit for their positions. I will state the problematic issues that I have personally witnessed, and suggest a solution that I would strongly advise to be taken into immediate consideration.

[Her head turns just slightly to indicate her first assessment.]

One. Newcomers arrive in this city on a near-daily basis. Under ordinary circumstances, the hologram would be enough to inform them of their first steps. However.

[FROWN.]

For as many capable fighters as this city seems to hold, not one stepped forward to watch the Bay for new arrivals. Instead they were immediately thrust into a perilous situation that a mere holographic recording could not possibly hope to redeem. This is a serious and reckless oversight. During times of emergency, a team must be instated to protect our newest and most vulnerable citizens. They were neglected and left to fend for themselves.

This should NOT be allowed to happen again. Do I make myself clear?

[There's a hint of fire in those frosty tones. She definitely expects a response in the affirmative.]

Two. Along a similar vein, no public announcement was made about the sudden dangers each realm now possessed. An excusable oversight in Everglade, as no serious harm can come from a sudden shift in architecture from inedible to edible, annoying as some of you may have found it to be. For Attleton, however, the lack of warning was completely intolerable. The physical and mental damage sustained from an unexpected encounter from one's worst fears can be severe, even deadly. Despite this, there was no evacuation order, no warning, and no guard to stand by and warn the ignorant who might have ventured too close. Such gross negligence cannot be easily forgiven, but should be absolutely remedied to avoid future tragedies.

[Her icy blue eyes narrow.]

Three; my final point. Many of you were caught unaware, and unprepared, to sufficiently deal with the dangers into which you were thrust. To you, I offer a choice. You may content yourselves to remain victims and cling to the shadows of those who are stronger, better trained, and more capable. There is no shame in acknowledging one's weaknesses and limitations.

[Even though it sure sounds like she's heaping on the shame.]

However.

If you would seek to improve the situation, for yourself and others, then you must be willing to undergo a training regimen that will test your boundaries, and force growth. There are many such individuals who are willing to accept students for any number of learned skills: martial combat. Wilderness survival. Communications. If you are one such person with an invaluable skill that few to none offer, do not be stingy and hoard your gifts. Teach.

Though I did not accept students in the world from which I hail, my current position as the captain of the royal guard in Fayren affords me the opportunity to offer an intense training regimen to those with the proper motivation, perseverance, and mental and physical fortitude. It takes eight weeks to complete, and my methods are grueling. If you would have a teacher to coddle you and accept your failures, do not apply, for you will be turned out at once. I expect perfect obedience. In return I will teach you to survive, and to hone your talents.

Should you even manage to impress me, I may offer you a position as one of my elite. Nonetheless, should you seek employment as a royal guard or simply to become better than you are, I would welcome you.

[Winter leans back just slightly, her arms clasped formally behind her back.]

I have stated my disapproval, as well as my suggestions for improvement. If you have questions you are free to make them known. But I will not tolerate bruised egos or tantrums. Respond with either and you shall be cut off at once, and disregarded.

Winter Schnee signing off.

[Blip! And she even managed a little snowflake logo for her call sign. Well isn't that fancy.]

(Plot A - Midnight)
[Eleanor felt it was necessary to do a little patrolling of her own around the sleeping city of Genessia. We'll, probably not that sleepy. Not really wanting to interfere with the deputies or local police. She just felt restless.

And as the clock struck midnight, she's about to get a lot more excitement from her midnight stroll. Terrifying screams and haunting howls filled the air and it wasn't long before the young exorcist saw people running for their lives, and hot on their trail was a pack of giant wolves - worgs.

Eleanor reached for her spear on her back, bringing it to bear with elegant spins over her head than at rest to her side.

Her most sincere apologies to the local law enforcement, but she can't stand by and do nothing.]

Praetor Exorcist, Eleanor Hume! Ready for battle!

[She begins with holding her spear like a staff, quietly reciting a magical incantation before holding the weapon up and out.

Flame Beast!!

The mana lance glowed red and launched a large fireball flying at an arch into the center lead of the back. The fireball exploded, killing the worg and launched two that ran beside it away. More came and Eleanor backs up to a defensive stance.]

Monsters inside of the city, and so many of them! Too late to call for help...

[Worgs lept to pounce on the woman, though she counters with a wide sweep of her weapon, followed by bringing it back with high-speed twirling to liberate their heads from the body. By now, she was getting surrounded.

Eleanor jammed her spear into the ground, vaulting up and delivered a kick to the next worg that came, pushing herself off it and delivering more kicks to the worgs closing in around her.

There were still many monsters and still some people running for safety. But can Eleanor handle this by herself?]

(Plot B - 3:00am)

[Eleanor just narrowly got out of the thick of it. The monsters just kept coming, so she needed to get the heck out of their too and into the nearest unlocked building.

However, she didn't get out unscathed. She has a worg's tooth stuck in her side. She slumps in the nearest corner where she will try to pull it out, but her groans of pain were obvious she will need help.

I am seeking the elite fighters amongst you. This could be an important opportunity for eight of the most impressive.

To those who may be new arrivals or those I have not yet met, let me formally introduce myself. I am Grievous, one of the dedicated Deputies to the Guardians of Nova City.

As mentioned, I require skilled fighters for a special squadron of elite guards. You will be under my instruction and guidance and will answer only to myself, however your duties will also include general protection of the cities when required, Nova in particular. This position will be split between eight of you to a schedule. You may be working a day or two, so consider this a supplemental job to what you may already be doing. However, you will be expected to be taking your guard work for me very seriously and I will not tolerate foolishiness. There will be a two month trial period. One or two exceptional applicants may be selected as head of the squad with special bonuses.

As for your skills, they can be flexible in style as long as you are competant in your choice of weaponry. I will be holding interviews from now until the eight positions are filled. Any questions can be asked here, as well as arrangements to meet up for anyone suitable.

He had spent the last two days disoriented, looking for information on the place he'd ended up and how he'd gotten there, going through the files on the.. cell phone? The device he'd been given. He had avoided people, and common areas. He wasn't stupid, and he recognized that there were no visible walkers here, but that hardly meant it was safe; After all, nine out of ten times he'd been close to dying, it wasn't the fault of walkers, but people.

When he finally activated the video call on the device, it was because he had reached the end of his patience with waiting and watching. He was in an alley making the call, somewhere in Attleton, which had felt more familiar to him than the big city of Genessia or his brief exploration of Nova City. The similarity it held to Alexandria kept him on his toes - he wouldn't drop his guard there, not anymore, so he wouldn't do it here, either. The picture was dark, but viewers would see a frowning teenage boy, with long brown hair and, curiously, a white bandage covering one eye and wrapping around his head, tucked half under his hair. His finger is in the way of the bottom of the picture a little, where he was working with the settings.

"Is there really no way out of here?" He asked bluntly, glancing out towards the end of the alley, keeping an eye on his surroundings as much as he was paying attention to the device. "I just got here. I don't want to stay." He had to get back to his dad, Judith, and the others. He didn't want to stay in this weird snowglobe of a world with no walkers, with normal people and stores and shit. It wasn't right. It didn't feel right.

He paused before adding, "If there's no way back.. where can I get a job?" He didn't want to stay long enough. But he sure as hell wasn't going to go to some home or something with little kids.

It took a while for Maggie to feel safe enough to even look at the device she'd been given - more or less a cellphone - let alone the other things she'd woken up with, in that damp, dark cave. It was easy enough to understand, but she was out of practice; It'd been a long, long time since she'd seen a working phone. But safety mattered more, and the first thing she'd done was get out of the cave and into the blistering sunlight. After that, it had been a matter of seeing for herself that this place was - as the bizarre hologram woman had promised - safe and free of walkers, at least from what she could see. Now, she set up a voice message, from where she was sitting on a bench she'd found, at the edges of a park. It'd been a long time since she'd seen one of those, too.

"H-hello?" She started, swallowing hard before pressing on, forcing her voice steady despite the scary strangeness of this place. A scary strangeness she'd felt before, that still felt wrong in the pit of her stomach. "My name is Maggie. I just arrived here, and I'm trying to get.. situated. Things were pretty bad where I was, and I was hoping - if this place is safe, maybe some of my friends came here, too? Is it true that there's no walkers here?" The last question was sort of blurted out, unintentional, and she shut up as soon as she'd said it. It was a hope too far - a world without walkers. But it was also - maybe, probably? - a world without Glenn and the others, too, and that was worse. That was terrible. Hastily, she added, "I heard - I heard it was safe here. Is that true?"

[It is a more thoughtful Grievous that appears on the network today. Thanks to chaos he has regained and clarified many memories that had been lost and while this happened some weeks ago, it has taken him a while to properly process it. At least, enough to speak about it further and not continue to keep it to himself.]

I have spoken of loss before but even then I had forgotten what that truly meant or how deep the wound can be. Some hearts once broken can never be fully healed and the emotions can threaten to overwhelm your life. The sorrow can become your life and all you may have left is vengeance.

To discover that there are even deeper betrayals can also be an instigator for revenge. Were certain people within my grasp there is certainty that they would pay for their treacherous actions.

I have been wronged and pieces of myself that were lost have now been found. I have not regained my true form but I have again found my soul and reconnected with the shards of mind and heart that had been shattered.

I will reverentially continue to grieve for that one which can never be returned to me yet my strength will prevail and I will continue to serve the people of Nova City as one of your Deputies under the new Guardian's leadership. I will protect you as I once did my own people; my elite warriors; my wives; my children and my family - to the best of my ability. I will do what I must, for the good of the people who reside in Nova and beyond, should other cities require my assistance.

The revelations and memories will not undo me. They only strengthen my resolve and purpose now.

[Disorientation was not unknown to Fenris. He’d experienced it several times in his past, but never quite in such a way. Uncertain what the pamphlet suggested aside from images of the device included in the box, he grumbled and shoved the pamphlet, the red papers included, along with the phone, into a pouch at his waist and strode through the water without hesitation. He’d faced demons and worse before, and while he was alone, he certainly wasn’t going to allow the weakness of fear show, and the spiked armor and large sword lashed to his back went a long way to help the image along.

When he approached the stand on which Weiss’ Transmission played, he glared at it but did not balk. Magic, then. Of course. He’d never heard of this Genessia, but at least the necklace was familiar. This was all a grand deception, to be sure, even for a former slave as valuable as himself, so he had no reason to doubt the image witch’s integrity.

Still, as much as it pained him to do so, he needed more information than her repeating message supplied. Surely he wasn’t alone in this place, for this witch would not have seen fit to spend the energy to place this message here for only his benefit, and so he took up a spot leaning against the side of the map booth and would address anyone who happened past.
