[ OUTSIDE THE ARCHWAY ]
There are probably a Guardian and some deputies here. They might have some issues with people gathering here, or trying to get in.
[ INSIDE THE ARCHWAY - CROSSROADS ]
In the fog, there's a crossroads with four paths branching off.
The widest path leads to a building, which kind of looks like the apartment Shinjiro and Akihiko share right now in Genessia. That door is locked with three keys.
The path to the left leads to a building Akihiko would find familiar. It's an orphanage.
The path to the right leads to a structure which seems to be a mashup between the highschool in Iwatodai and the dorms that SEES lived in.
The narrowest path leads right past the building. It appears to go into a warren of alleyways.
[ INSIDE THE ORPHANAGE ]
Right when you get in, you hear a woman's voice saying, "You're just too much trouble." It's not a voice Akihiko would recognize.
The first floor is filled with whispering adult voices, harsh and judgmental. They're not clear enough to be heard right away. When you find the stairs, they've resolved themselves at last. "Undesirable." "Troublemaker." "Thief." "Bully." "Too aggressive." "Looks suspicious." "Not that one."
The second floor is distinctly hotter than the first. The rooms begin to fill with smoke. There's crying of children in the corridors, and by the final room - which has the first key - the whole dungeon is on fire.
In that last room, when the chest is opened, they can hear Shinjiro's very young voice. "I didn't really want this to happen. I didn't. It wasn't my fault!"
This dungeon drops a lot of Goho-M and Revival Beads.
[ INSIDE THE SCHOOL + DORM ]
When you open the door, you hear the principal say, "Delinquent."
The first floor appears to be just the school. But the corridors are tight, growing tighter, and the ceilings seem to get lower and lower. A shadow eventually can easily block the entire hallway. All around are whispers and snickering, and disapproving coughing. This building doesn't appear to have any distinct voices, one way or another.
By the time you get to the stairs, you almost need to crouch.
The second floor is the dorm. These appear to be spaced just like the actual dorm hallways, and the ceilings are the right height, too. But there are shadows everywhere.
Eventually, one will knock you into a wall. The wall completely collapses, and the sound it makes is a mix of Mrs. Amada and Ken Amada's screams.
After the first wall, the corridors seem to narrow exponentially. Knocking down more walls causes repeats of those screams, but. At least it's easier to move around over rubble?
The final room has the voice of Shadow!Shinji call out - "No, no it's not possible - no -"
This dungeon drops a lot of Goho-M and Revival Beads. It also drops an axe.(Not funny, TV World.)
[ INSIDE THE ALLEYWAYS ]
This is a straight-up labyrinth, single floor.
It's freezing in the alleys. Shadows seem to come out of nowhere and ambush the party easily. There aren't distinct voices here - just shouts, and laughter, and indistinct pleading.
As they go through the alleys, it gets colder and colder. It also grows darker. It gets even harder to see the shadows, and eventually, you'll need to find the light of your cell phone to get by.
This dungeon drops a lot of Goho-M and Revival Beads. The shadows also seem unusually fond of casting Marin Karin on the party.
[ INSIDE THE SAFEHOUSE ]
This is Shinjiro and Akihiko's apartment, all right. Except the floor is littered with empty prescription pill bottles, hundreds of them. It's hard not to step on them. The door to Akihiko's room is locked. The bathroom is trashed, the mirror smashed.
Shinjiro's room is where you find them both, Shadow and Persona-user. This room is also pretty wrecked. Here the empty prescription bottle count is highest.
Shinjiro is tied up, back against the wall, sitting on his bed. The Shadow is pacing the room, kicking about empty bottles as he goes. His eyes are red, like he'd been crying, but he looks furious. He's holding an axe, and gesturing with it at Shinjiro.
"I'm not going to let you! I'm not, I'm not, I'm not!" the Shadow shouts, sounding a mix between anguished and furious.
As a counterpoint, Shinjiro almost looks bored, slumped in his bindings against the wall. He doesn't look at the Shadow. "Can you just get it over with?"
But then he notices you all there, in the doorway, and his eyes go wide. "Shit."
The Shadow turns, looks at you, and almost looks ... hopeful?
Or maybe he just hopes to use his axe. He runs a thumb over it, thoughtfully.
(( OOC: The boss fight will be "unlocked" in this thread after a) a character calls out what Shinjiro is denying about himself, and b) Shinjiro denies it. Actual fight can be handwaved. ))
[ AFTER THE BOSS FIGHT ]

He let her guide his hand to ward his head and cradles Koishi closer so she can rest against his chest too. "You did good, Koishi, and it's all over. Do you require medical assistance?"
no subject
"Dizzy dizzy. That place isn't good at all. It makes it hard to think. And its already hard to think. So it's like it's double-hard." Nuzzle nuzzle. "I'm tired. And chilly spots are best spots. Whitewashed and blind and muffled. Even the water is quiet." She was probably talking about snow and ice.
no subject
"Chilly and whitewashed spots..like, covered in snow? Cassian has a Vallinite that can make snowstorms. We can go find Hoth in the Guardian Station and then ask her to freeze a room for you to rest properly."
no subject
"Chireiden is frozen. Permafrost and sleet. Slow cold that bites into the bones. Not like the fluffy quiet of home... I miss home." She had described herself as a 'mountain monster' before. "Warm water melted and tall hands creaking and reaching up."
She wasn't really listening to what Kay was saying, continuing to babble. "It all pitched and turned when the gold rod came down. Then we went to our now-home." She scrubbed her eyes. "Toasty and chilly and toasty. And lonely."
Perhaps she was just talking about how she was homesick? Or was she just talking about things that came to mind? It was hard to say. But she would be fine with whatever Kay wanted to do with her, too addled to really understand where she was just yet. But given the chilly theme of her words someone cool and comfortable would be a safe bet.
no subject
He let her ramble, not fully understanding all the things she was saying but getting a general idea. Kay knew from experience that injured and tired people made little sense and they couldn't be faulted for it.
The Guardian station wasn't so far away and Kay could walk really quickly, long legs and all. It didn't take him long to reach his destination and when he came into the station he was greeted by the view of his joltik, Stardust, sucking electricity from one of the outlets. Kay reached out to grab the little Pokemon and Stardust let out a small shierk.
"Enough of that. The bill is going to go through the roof again." Carefully, Kay left the joltik on the floor and gave him a little nudge with a finger. "Go find Hoth and then I promise I'll give you two berries."
Stardust cried a happy joltik! before scurrying away to find the other pokemon. "Koishi? Do you want to eat or drink something?"
no subject
She did quiet down while being carried and by the time they were in the guardian office she was mostly asleep. She also looked quite a bit better, her frame having subtly returned to its more familiar shape.
She reached up, rubbing her eyes, blinking. "Tea please. I like tea." She was swinging in and out of lucidity... Which was at least better than the pure nonsense she was babbling earlier. Though if she had been fully in her right mind no doubt that Joltik would be getting snuggles right about now.
no subject
"Tea it is. Cassian always likes caf more, he would be falling sleep everywhere if it weren't for it."
Stardust is a bit difficult, electric pokemon are like that, but he might like the snuggles. He comes back followed by what it looks like a floating, giant ice-cream as Kay finished heating up a cup of water in the microwave to make the tea.
"Vanillite!"
"Oh, here you are. Hoth, this is Koishi, she needs a cool, comfy place to rest. Can you freeze the break room and cover it with snow?" The ice pokemon look over at the little girl and scrunches his face in concern before nodding. Meanwhile, Stardust ran up Kay's body until he was perched on his shoulder.
no subject
But as soon as the snow started, Koishi blinked, looked around. She rolled down to the floor, scraped twice at the snow, and crawled under the coffee table. Nothing happened for a long moment before several tentacles slid out from the white powder on the other side, sliding along the edge of the couch before locating a pillow, pulling it down and under.
It's a good thing Koishi was too high energy to hibernate or there might have been a problem.
no subject
Kay meanwhile, was left holding a steaming cup of tea and wondering if Koishi just changed her mind about it.]
Uh...Okay. I'll leave this here, maybe you'll want something to drink later. [The droid placed the cup on the snowy floor next to her, not expecting an answer.]
no subject
She would sleep there all night, eventually moving to the top of a book shelf as the snow melted to avoid getting wet. She was so peaceful up there, curled up and nearly invisible.
What could possibly go wrong?
no subject
Still bleary-eyed, Cassian Andor looked around, taking in the soaked mess on the floor and every other surface that had gotten covered in the snowfall. There was the couch. Damp. The legs of the table, swollen from being soaked overnight.
"Hoth!" he barked to the Pokemon that had followed him, "I thought I told you to leave the break room alone!"
Some water damage was to be expected, they had all grown used to the constant battle against mold, but this... This was the kind of damage screamed intentional, not just the normal fallout from living with a Vanillite.
no subject
"Mm...?" She blinked. "Oh, hello there." Completely oblivious to the water damage.
Koishi stop acting sleepy and cute. You should be in trouble right now.
no subject
"What are you doing here?" Or up there, on the bookshelf, at that. He crossed his arms over his chest. "You do realize this is a City Guardian's station and not a hotel, don't you?" His eyes narrowed a little. "Are you responsible for the lake?"
no subject
Not directly her fault at all. Also now she was yawning. Hopefully it wouldn't be contagious. She seemed more awake now, looking around.
"Oh... Umm... Where am I?"
no subject
"Cassian, who are you talking with? Oh!...Koishi, are you feeling better?"
Stardust, his small joltik is sticking to his frame, like a small yellow stain on Kay's shoulder, and it starts to squeak when he notices the water on the floor.
"Uh...oh the snow melted."
no subject
Uh-oh indeed.
Cassian's mood took a quick plunge, face growing more grim even though that explained she wasn't an intruder. He couldn't be happy about that, not with the state the room was in.
"Yes, the snow melted," he said, his own voice icy as he shot Kay a glare.
His attention returned quickly to the small girl. "You're in the Attleton City Guardian's office. Which is currently resembling a pond."
No, he wasn't bitter, why would you think that.
no subject
"Oh." A pause, turning to Cassian. "The dampness is why I'm on the bookshelf. The snow was nice while it was snow. I slept much better and my instincts were chilled and relaxed. And that's really good because I wanted to chase everyone before. Thank you."
At least some good came of it, right?
no subject
She went into the subarchway to help Shinjiro but I think I was the only one who noticed that. When Koishi got out with the others she wasn't in the best shape and she mentioned how cold and snow would help her. I brought her here to rest and told Hoth to make snow for her, I didn't think the snow would melt so quickly. ...sorry.
no subject
"I'm glad Kay took care of you, and I'm sorry you didn't get more care. We should have been able to provide for your needs in a more appropriate setting. Now..."
He looked around and sighed. Yeah, that would take some work to clean up.
"The damage is done already. I'll help mop this up later. It's nothing we haven't had before. For all it's worth, I'm glad Hoth helped you."
no subject
She hopped down off the bookshelf, drifting over to where Hoth was.
"Are you ice cream though? I didn't know there were ice cream youkai! Or are you a pokemon?"
Pls stop her before the licking starts. Kthx.
no subject
Then his attention is back on Koishi. Somehow, he sees where the conversation is going. Maybe because he's used to randomness, or he's used to their dog Starkiller always trying to lick Hoth too.
"She's a pokemon. Koishi, do you want something to eat?"
no subject
"Don't lick her!" he yelped, rushing towards Koishi to bodily yank her away from the pokemon if need be.
He coughed. "Yes. Please eat food. We should still have some brownies." They did have plenty of friends who regularly brought food, after all.
no subject
"Ohh! I would love a brownie! Thank you!" And she hopped right down, running over and waiting for her treat. She would never say no to sugar.
"But it wasn't that kind of hungry when I mentioned I was hungry before. Sis and I eat the fear and emotional significance that clings to the flesh of living beings. It's manageable when my emotional state is stable but I get into a very primal feeding cycle in the color-box world. It's hard to control."
At the same time she was rummaging around in a little pouch on her belt, pulling out a couple pokeballs and letting out a Gallade and Ivysaur. Ivysaur seemed immedeately interested in what was going on, waddling over to investigate. Gallade was more reserved, straightening up and just observing for now.
"Here. I have pokemon too. They can be friends!"
She had a lot more, but these three would easily fit in the room.
no subject
He stares at Koishi for a long time before adding. "I don't think we have any fear-savored brownies. Just regular ones. Maybe slightly charred, if Cassian was the one who cooked them."
That's a lie, of course, Cassian cooks really well but Kay wouldn't be Kay if he missed an opportunity to mess with the man about his cooking, justified or not. "I can bring some berries for the pokemon too."
no subject
The Vanillite waddled over to the Gallade to greet it, while his Swablu's attention was drawn to the Ivysaur.
"I'm sure they'll get along fine, our pokemon are used to playing nicely with others," he murmured distractedly. "They get a lot of different playmates." After all it's become something of a habit for visitors to bring their pokemon along, and the Guardian's office has a lot of people coming and going anyway.
He sized up Koishi, rubbing a hand over his stubble as he did so. Don't think about it being weird or disturbing, take it at face value. That's the best way to deal with the supernatural. "I don't know where you could eat fear here. If it were later in the day I would take you into a horror movie in the cinema. Our amusement park has been closed since before we moved here. Best I can think of is to take you to Everglade, it's soaked in fear."
