(( OOC: Please read the warning post for this plot before tagging.
This one is especially heavy on the suicidal ideation, the negative self-talk, and themes of abandonment. ))
[ ACTION ]
[ Catch-all for the TV World ]
(( OOC: Please note for the dungeons I DO NOT expect these to be threaded out blow-by-blow. Tags can be about the aftermath of the dungeons, or reactions going in, if you want to use those prompts at all. Handwaving is encouraged. ))
[ OUTSIDE THE ARCHWAY ]
There are probably a Guardian and some deputies here. They might have some issues with people gathering here, or trying to get in.
[ INSIDE THE ARCHWAY - CROSSROADS ]
In the fog, there's a crossroads with four paths branching off.
The widest path leads to a building, which kind of looks like the apartment Shinjiro and Akihiko share right now in Genessia. That door is locked with three keys.
The path to the left leads to a building Akihiko would find familiar. It's an orphanage.
The path to the right leads to a structure which seems to be a mashup between the highschool in Iwatodai and the dorms that SEES lived in.
The narrowest path leads right past the building. It appears to go into a warren of alleyways.
[ INSIDE THE ORPHANAGE ]
Right when you get in, you hear a woman's voice saying, "You're just too much trouble." It's not a voice Akihiko would recognize.
The first floor is filled with whispering adult voices, harsh and judgmental. They're not clear enough to be heard right away. When you find the stairs, they've resolved themselves at last. "Undesirable." "Troublemaker." "Thief." "Bully." "Too aggressive." "Looks suspicious." "Not that one."
The second floor is distinctly hotter than the first. The rooms begin to fill with smoke. There's crying of children in the corridors, and by the final room - which has the first key - the whole dungeon is on fire.
In that last room, when the chest is opened, they can hear Shinjiro's very young voice. "I didn't really want this to happen. I didn't. It wasn't my fault!"
This dungeon drops a lot of Goho-M and Revival Beads.
[ INSIDE THE SCHOOL + DORM ]
When you open the door, you hear the principal say, "Delinquent."
The first floor appears to be just the school. But the corridors are tight, growing tighter, and the ceilings seem to get lower and lower. A shadow eventually can easily block the entire hallway. All around are whispers and snickering, and disapproving coughing. This building doesn't appear to have any distinct voices, one way or another.
By the time you get to the stairs, you almost need to crouch.
The second floor is the dorm. These appear to be spaced just like the actual dorm hallways, and the ceilings are the right height, too. But there are shadows everywhere.
Eventually, one will knock you into a wall. The wall completely collapses, and the sound it makes is a mix of Mrs. Amada and Ken Amada's screams.
After the first wall, the corridors seem to narrow exponentially. Knocking down more walls causes repeats of those screams, but. At least it's easier to move around over rubble?
The final room has the voice of Shadow!Shinji call out - "No, no it's not possible - no -"
This dungeon drops a lot of Goho-M and Revival Beads. It also drops an axe.(Not funny, TV World.)
[ INSIDE THE ALLEYWAYS ]
This is a straight-up labyrinth, single floor.
It's freezing in the alleys. Shadows seem to come out of nowhere and ambush the party easily. There aren't distinct voices here - just shouts, and laughter, and indistinct pleading.
As they go through the alleys, it gets colder and colder. It also grows darker. It gets even harder to see the shadows, and eventually, you'll need to find the light of your cell phone to get by.
This dungeon drops a lot of Goho-M and Revival Beads. The shadows also seem unusually fond of casting Marin Karin on the party.
[ INSIDE THE SAFEHOUSE ]
This is Shinjiro and Akihiko's apartment, all right. Except the floor is littered with empty prescription pill bottles, hundreds of them. It's hard not to step on them. The door to Akihiko's room is locked. The bathroom is trashed, the mirror smashed.
Shinjiro's room is where you find them both, Shadow and Persona-user. This room is also pretty wrecked. Here the empty prescription bottle count is highest.
Shinjiro is tied up, back against the wall, sitting on his bed. The Shadow is pacing the room, kicking about empty bottles as he goes. His eyes are red, like he'd been crying, but he looks furious. He's holding an axe, and gesturing with it at Shinjiro.
"I'm not going to let you! I'm not, I'm not, I'm not!" the Shadow shouts, sounding a mix between anguished and furious.
As a counterpoint, Shinjiro almost looks bored, slumped in his bindings against the wall. He doesn't look at the Shadow. "Can you just get it over with?"
But then he notices you all there, in the doorway, and his eyes go wide. "Shit."
The Shadow turns, looks at you, and almost looks ... hopeful?
Or maybe he just hopes to use his axe. He runs a thumb over it, thoughtfully.
(( OOC: The boss fight will be "unlocked" in this thread after a) a character calls out what Shinjiro is denying about himself, and b) Shinjiro denies it. Actual fight can be handwaved. ))

[ On the other hand, he'd probably only get more agitated, so... ]
If you must know, one of your friends was forceful in making his way past law enforcement. He attacked two deputies.

[ Then, looked Cassian square in the eye. It seemed like he was drawing from some inner reserve for energy, because he was very suddenly focused. He wasn't prepared - or able - to leap to his feet, or anything. But he was prepared to argue and verbally fight for this. ]
This shit? It's all on me.
I'm the one who was warned this place was off limits, I went in here anyway, it was my Shadow which freaked out everyone with the damn video -
I don't care if you've gotta lock me up and throw 'way the key. Or if I gotta work for the next fifty years payin off a fine for it all. Or whatever I've gotta do.
But none of this is on them. They don't deserve to pay for my stupid bullshit.

Good. This is better. But it doesn't mean he's willing to budge. ]
You're wrong. Everybody is responsible for their own actions. Your friends got into this situation because of something you did, but it's their own decision to handle it the way they did. Most of them were mature about it. A few... were not. They have to take responsibility for their actions as much as you must.

[ A small, tiny, rational part of Shinjiro agreed with Cassian. That part of him was drowned out, of course, by the overwhelming majority - the fact that his heart was bound to his friends. He would do anything to keep them from trouble.
He wished, however, that he was better spoken, less rough, better suited for this kind of thing. He wasn't really the politic one. He was better at just ... hitting things or getting hit, honestly. ]
Did they really got any other choice? Didja have people with Persona lined up ready to take me out? Cause I was set to stay in there 'till he finally finished me off - and I don't know 'bout you, but most people ain't gonna find that t'be an acceptable option.
[ His voice was beginning to go thready with exhaustion. Shinjiro was willing to argue until he dropped. His body figured that 'until' part was sooner rather than later. ]
If they had a better option, they would've taken it.

He could have explained the situation sensibly like your other friends did and cooperating with the authorities instead of attacking local law enforcement. If he had simply introduced himself the Deputies on duty would have known he had permission to pass, and would have let him pass and provided all necessary support. He chose to engage them with disrespect for the law and violence instead. The consequences of his actions are his.
[ Cassian does step a little closer, though, just in case he needs catching if he passes out. ]
I refuse to give my Deputies the impression that their safety and well-being is secondary to me.

[ Because Shinjiro sure as hell didn't. That bit surprised him, actually - what happened here, before, that they'd know to let Akihiko by? That is, they'd know to let him in by name, but not by sight?
He opened his mouth to say more, but swooned. He caught himself against the wall - since he was mostly leaning up against that to begin with, and scraped his palms a bit.
His legs trembled.
Shinjiro respected Cassian's dedication to his deputies and their well being.
But he was tired, and his head swam, and.
Mutters, not really thinking it through: ] If he wanted to actually hurt 'em none of them would be standin right now.
[ He sounds more resigned, than bitter or angry. Like he knew Cassian would get his way, no matter what he did.
Like he knew what he tried to say now was useless. ]
In a flash of lightning the Emperor appears~!
[Akihiko had been getting fussed over by the others around the entrance of the gate. He'd been front and center during the fight with the shadow and bore the wounds to prove it. He'd been close enough to hear most of the conversation, but chose to keep quiet. That is until Shinji started to falter. In the blink of an eye, Aki was there to support Shinji.]
No, I didn't know there was a list. That said, that doesn't serve as an excuse. I don't regret doing what I did, but I'll face the consequences.
[The arm that wasn't around Shinji's shoulders holding him up came and lightly bonked him on the top of the head.]
I'm an adult, Shinji. I'm capable of making my own decisions. They may get me in trouble, but they're mine. None of this is on you.
[He turns to Cassian.] None of it. I can't get into details here because of the circumstances but I'd be more than happy to fill you in later.

He takes in Shinjiro's weakened state and Akihiko's protectiveness, and shakes his head.]
There's no point to this now, you need rest. Both of you need rest. Let's leave this debate for another day.
[ He focuses fully on Akihiko. ] And yes, we can talk another day. For now I'd like you to take your friend home.
no subject
Shinjiro gave Aki a scowl after the bop on the head, but it was completely for show. It was certainly different than the scowls he'd been aiming at Cassian. ]
Ow. Don't make excuses for me. Nobody pushed me in there.
[ But he's so, so grateful when Cassian says they can finally leave. God. He feels like he'd could sleep for months.
He can't even really concentrate too hard on this ominous promise of a 'talk' between these two. Shinjiro's not being thrown in a cell, and that's enough for him. For now.
Keeping his gaze well away from Cassian, he says: ] ... Thanks.
