[Accidental voice post | A lover's spat | Action for Attleton]
…and I’d say, it just turns out I can’t leave you alone for five minutes.
[The phones tune in to the sweet dulcet tones of Cassian at his grumpiest. Kay had picked up his communicator from the floor after it was dropped by accident during a fight with Akihiko, and he accidentally turned on the voice option.]
Maybe if someone has gotten here sooner instead or away getting a coffee fix things would have gone differently.
[The droid snaps back, unable to keep the snappy tone out of his voice. He is rarely this confrontational with Cassian but he's in a terrible mood because the joints of his right arm seem to have been affected by Caesar's lighting attack.]
Maybe if someone had learnt to follow orders sometime within the last decade things wouldn't fall apart as soon as I take a coffee break!
[And off they are...10 years of petty grievances being dug up and flung at another as they work through their frustrations and feelings of helplessness in their very own way. They're very loud and not very nice.]

He grits his teeth, determined not to show how much that hurt. ]
My leadership is terrible, is it now. [ His voice is sharp, no more quarter given. ] That's easy to say for one who runs the simulations but doesn't have to make the tough calls. If things get unpleasant you just offer a memory wipe.
no subject
That's...not what I said. [Kay voice falter and he's sorry for what he implied. Only for Cassian to be an ass back a second later and reminds him why he's angry in the first place.]
I did that for you. It's not like I enjoyed having part of me erased for your benefit.
no subject
[ He huffs and angrily takes a few stomping steps away from Kay, even though there is nothing to keep busy with at the subarchway. ]
You're insufferable, you know?
no subject
[UGH. He turns as well, crossing his arms around his chest.]
no subject
Who are you calling a Laserbrain now, you bucket of bolts?!
[ Yes, they have reached a new low of pettiness. ]
no subject
Oh, that's low even for you...Moof-milker!

no subject
Fine. Then I won't speak at all.
[Enjoy the silent treatment, boyfriend.]

Yet every now and then he will peek at Kay to make sure he is still nearby. ]

later, after the crisis is resolved
Kay's late, though, even when Cassian has eaten and showered he isn't home. Despite his best efforts to wait for him he dozes off, when he jerks awake a little later he is still alone in a bed that feels far too large and cold now.
So they haven't resolved their quarrel yet. But that's unacceptable.
Twenty minutes later, Cassian walks back into the station, hair and clothes a mess, and feeling very, very uncomfortable in his own skin. ]
Why aren't you in bed?
Such tact, Cassian
I'm working. A foreign concept for some, I know. Why aren't YOU in bed? [But the looks of it, it seems like Cassian had been there at some point, so Kay adds.]...anymore?
Re: Such tact, Cassian
He looks down at the tips of his boots and fakes a cough. Peers up at Kay, and looks down again. ]
You weren't there when I woke up.
[ Not unusual as such, since Kay works two jobs, but unusual when they have the choice to be together instead. ]
no subject
I wasn't there either when you fell asleep. I was trying to give you space.
[Kay's voice lost most of the roughness. He's not tired per se, droids don't suffer from that kind of things, but it's been a long day and he doesn't want to fight anymore.]
You came all the way here because of that? [...Oh.]
no subject
Of course I would come.
[ Has he really hurt Kay so much that he thinks he wouldn't? Giving another space is all nice and good... Okay, so if people hadn't talked sense into him earlier he might have kept to his icy silence for another day or two. It hurts anyway. ]
Kay, I... [ He shuffles a small step closer. ]
no subject
Yeah...me too. [Kay slouches forward, reaching out to brush his fingers against Cassian's.]

Weiss says we need to talk about being partners on and off duty. [ He sounds nearly as exhausted as he feels. Too exhausted for that talk, for sure. And yet he knows he needs to make a step towards Kay, no matter how hard it is to admit to vulnerability. Not because of Weiss or anyone else, but because he'd promised himself he would get it right. And sticking to what's easier is not doing it right. ] But I just need you to come home.
no subject
I talked to her and with Dorothy, they both agree that we need to learn how to balance personal and private life and stop being stubborn. [Kay doesn't miss the exhaustion and honestly? They know they had to talk but they don't have to do it now.]
I want to come home too. We can talk tomorrow, or any other day. [Ha takes another step toward Cassian, all thought of work forgotten.] Let's go home.
no subject
With Kay now right in front of him it's just one small step left till he can lean against him, forehead against Kay's chest plate. ]
I sleep better when you're with me.
no subject
His free hand goes to the back of Cassian's neck, giving him a squeeze. This is what it feels right, both of them together and talking instead of fighting like children. If Kay had the ability, he would felt ashamed by his past overreaction.]
That's my favorite moment of the day.
and right now I can't say if he knows either, gotta look it up when I have time xD
He sighs in soft pleasure, leaning back into the hand cradling his neck. His own fingers dance over Kay's back, idly tracing the outline of ports and buttons. ]
Mine, too. To fall asleep with you... I never thought I would one day have someone I want to watch over my sleep. [ A weary sigh. ] I owe you an apology.
Ahahaah...it's okay X3
I never thought I would have the opportunity either. [And as always when they get this close, it doesn't take much for Kay's chest to start rumbling softly, like the purr of a happy cat.]
No, you don't. I snapped first, I was angry because of that nudist kid getting into the subarchway.
Re: Ahahaah...it's okay X3
[He looks up into Kay's optics and then he presses close again, soaking up the feeling of the purring machine's vibrations seeping into him.]
I was angry with myself, not with you. You know how I get when I... but I shouldn't have.
no subject
We could agree to blame these weird kids, how about that?
[Kay wasn't all that angry at them, he wouldn't suggest to put them in person but they had to do something if they wanted people to respect the police and Guardian duties.]
no subject
Yes, we could blame it all on the. They are the real culprits of this mess. Between the metal murders and this we haven't even gotten to deal with the frog. [He leans against Kay, leaning maybe more of his weight on him than he normally would. He chuckles. ] Think we could make them care for the frog?
