OPEN LOG; EVERGLADE, GENESSIA - do not reply until you read the ooc post
The first sign that something was going on that day hadn't been at the crack. It hadn't even been in Genessia, as a matter of fact. The first sign had been a sound not unlike a window shuddering in a heavy storm. It perforated the atmosphere within Everglade first.
Only a few moments later, Fayren would hear the same shudder echo through its forests, forcing birds to flee the cover of the trees. In the populated areas of the kingdom itself, it would be much quieter, as if it were miles away.
Then it would return to Genessia. The crack in the sky was rapidly saturated, thousands more than before forcing their whole shapeless bodies against the barrier. Some of the strange aurora-tinted color seems to press into their ranks, a few of the strange creatures being forced back, but quickly being replaced by another of its kind.
And a sickening crack could be heard in all archways near and far, but it was loudest in Everglade, where a new crack had formed. Two humongous cracks appeared in Everglade's barrier like a sinister grin as if it were laughing at the town just above the clocktower. The two cracks took only a couple of seconds more before the strange monstrous creatures burst small holes into that crack, not big enough to fit their bodies through at once.
The leaked through, dripping like poison from an apple out of that sneering mouth in the sky until the first of these creatures fell to the ground. The eager, hungry soul from before, whose abyss of a stomach had been shared with the whole of Genessia when he'd opened his misshapen jaw the first time a few days ago now looked from side to side in the streets of Everglade.
The first face he saw was that of an NPC, and he only saw it for a moment before launching himself at the man and pinning him to the ground. Some would recognize him as the grizzled owner of The Rabbit's Foot. A loud scream was put out from the man as the creature opened its jaw wide, but did not eat him. Nothing seemed to happen when his jaw was opened, as a matter of fact.
The creature closed its mouth slowly before standing upright on what seemed to be a two-legged form, though if it had arms they didn't take shape. It made a gesture as if it were cracking its neck as the man escaped quickly, locking the door to his shop behind him.
More of the creatures were piling into Everglade slowly but surely, but this one in particular caught sight of a local werewolf, someone with a pendant, a soul, and repeated his mauling, but this time- this time something happened. This time a strange, glowing mist seemed to pull out of the Everglade resident's body, a faint glimmer of aurora with it, and in a short time this person stopped screaming. They were still alive, but it didn't seem like there was anything... inside, really.
A hissing, victorious laughter left the creature and he moved on, heading toward Genessia's gate along with his oversized mouth pulled up into an eerie grin that reflected the crack in the sky. Those that had made it in through Everglade's crack followed suit.
They had to let the rest of their friends in through Genessia; it was only the polite thing to do.

CLOSED TO: DRACULA
When Vlad gets near the spirit, it will not speak to him, but he will know that it is calling to him. Perhaps he should approach it to see what it wants?
no subject
"How peculiar. For the chaos being caused, I had expected something more... defined."
no subject
Though the words do not manifest as thoughts, nor as words, that sense would be instilled within Dracula almost as if a response to his observations. Without waiting for a response, the spirit imbues him with the knowledge that it is the one who creates the barriers, runs them, but it takes his own energy to do so. Everglade is a city which reflects many fears and as such is the most efficient area to generate its protection. The spirit must use its own energy to turn those emotions to a barrier and keep the cities safe while the other spirits, already within the cities' limits do their work.
With the barriers so damaged, it is taking all of his energy to keep them from shattering and allowing this place to be enveloped. The citizens here are not yet ready to be outside of the barrier. If it is not fixed, great peril will fall upon Genessia's residents- all of the cities' residents- regardless of their perceived mortality or lack thereof.
no subject
"Fear generates energy to keep these barriers intact? Well then, perhaps your power would be better suited if you joined with me. The terrors within Castlevania should be more than enough to keep the barriers intact, to say nothing of those residing within the castle that are not native to it. And, if you joined with me, you would not be lacking for company, that much is certain."
no subject
The Bay was not moved without reason that short time ago, and within that reason lies the only way to free yourselves. If the barriers fall before that day, everything be lost to both those within its walls and those who created it. Should Dracula choose to assist, it will not go unrewarded.
no subject
"Need is a very subjective thing. Should you join with me, the terrors of Castlevania would easily provide enough energy to repair the barrier, and whatever your intent here can go on. However, if you are one of the spirits that helped create this place, then you must also be one of the ones that brought us here. You should know that you speak to someone who has no interest in prolonging his existance. I have lived countless lives, died so many times, and have always come back. Death has no meaning for me. As for a reward..."
He chuckles, motioning to the skeletons taking aim down their muskets at the spirit. "I have no need of anything you would reward me with. One way or another, however, I will have your power. It is just a matter of if you will come willingly, or if I have to resort to less... civilized means."
no subject
Everyone here is incomplete still. You cannot hold my power, nor can you contain it. If you cannot escape this barrier, what makes you think that you can overpower the one who has created it, even weakened? If you do not desire to restore the barrier, then I will ask you to rest for now and step aside so that someone else might.
If you do choose to do your part as a citizen, I will answer one question about this place or the residents within it. It is your choice.
no subject
He chuckles, sweeping his arm to the side, signalling the skeletons to open fire. "But I have yet to find a meal I could not sink my teeth into."
no subject
no subject
"If you were truly sincere about protecting this place, then you should have given your power to me willingly. Though I have to admit I find your plight rather amusingly ironic. Those creatures coming in from beyond the barrier would be excellent instruments of terror, by using them your power should magnify several times over, but instead, you keep them at bay."
no subject
Stop this.
Unfortunately, the barrier before Everglade's spirit is fading. Splitting its concentration between the barrier before it and the barrier surrounding the cities was causing it to falter.
no subject
He holds his cloak open, three fireballs leaping from the cloth. "Even you shall come to fear the Son of the Dragon."
no subject
Seeing the attack on the spirit, Lucy's eyes widened. "STOP!" Fortunately there was a dragon in attendance who could help in that regard! She cast a disgusted look at Vlad - she remembered you from when she and Natsu first arrived. Now she wasn't so troubled by the fact that she didn't trust him back then.

{ ooc: You three can continue the thread from here until they're in the clear! I'll make sure to keep an eye on it to see when I need to come back for spirits time again. I've got to do holiday stuff so I would be too slow to get this thread going for a bit, so feel free to keep on playing until I'm needed again! }
no subject
Ah what meddlesome insects... I should have fed on you two when I had the chance. No matter. I will have my meal, one way or another.
[He raised a hand over his head, snapping his fingers again as a pair of Alameric Snipers materialized from the ether, bows aiming arrows of light at Natsu.]
no subject
Sorry to disappoint but -- actually I'm not sorry. [ No meals for him today. ] Open, Gate of the Archer! Saggitarius!
[ The archer wasted no time in greetings this time, but took aim at the snipers, firing off his own arrows at the creatures. ]
no subject
You've got a lot of nerve to say you're the son of a dragon with shitty tasting fire like this. Here let me show you what a true dragon's flame TASTES LIKE!
[Natsu says and immediately wraps his body in intense dragon flames before breathing in deeply and firing a large breath attack at the vampire.]
no subject
You'll have to do better than that, whellp. You two are fairly intriguing, but I assure you, you've never encountered a power such as mine, and pray to whatever gods you hold dear that you never do. For now, servants will enjoy ripping you to shreds.
[And without further warning, a massive axe flew out of the fog at Saggitarius, a minotaur wielding it while a werewolf's fist came shooting at Natsu's jaw.]
no subject
If I had a jewel for everytime I heard someone claim -that- one, I'd never need rent again.
[ Three threats. A werewolf, a minotaur, and this stupid fog. Which was apparently his other form. Fortunately by then she'd processed the info that Gen-chan gave her about its powers. Control over that, was it? Well she could try something small at least. Now how do you... oh, OH! She's got it! She glanced towards Natsu with a sudden grin. ]
Heads up, Natsu~!
[ A small gesture from your partner, but a glow will appear around his hands to give him a pair of silver claws. Enjoy punching the werewolf now, partner. That done, she turned her attention to seeing the axe flying out of the fog. Sagittarius wasn't dumb enough to stay in one spot, as he just barely dodged out of the way. The fog is a pain, so let's clear it up shall we? ]
Thanks Sagittarius, you'd better go back now. Sagittarius, Close Gate! Open, Gate of the Scorpion! Scorpio!
[ In one shot, Sagittarius vanishes, with Scorpio taking his place opposite Lucy. Dropping to all fours, the spirit used Sand Blaster, a sand tornado to suck in the 'fog' and blow it clear out of the way. And oh, Minotaur. Right - well while Scorpio is dealing with the fog, Lucy unravels her whip, dodging out of the way of the Minotaur's path, but snapping her weapon out to catch the Minotaur's leg, yanking back on it to trip it up. ]
no subject
Was that supposed to hurt?
[Just then he hears Lucy's cry and a warmth envelops his hand before the armaments are fully formed once they are, Natsu's eyes almost sparkle in delight.]
Haha. Well then lets try these puppies out.
[His eyes target the werewolf and a borderline maniacal grin follows.]
Try them out on a bigger and dumber puppy.
[And with that he twists around and aims to back hand the werewolf with the claws wholly ignorant of the fact that the material they were made of would provide a boost. Natsu just thinks they look really cool and they feel good around his hands.]
no subject
You have skill, I'll give you that much. But I am not known as the Demon Emperor for nothing.
no subject
Scorpio misses the change to jump back in time, getting a glancing blow on his shoulder when he raised his arm to guard against the blow. Lucy isn't wasting time from her whip being untied from the minotaur on the other hand, changing targets just as quickly as she lashed her whip outwards to catch the werewolf around the neck and pull back in a cho-- eh? Pillar?
CRAP. She lets out a yelp of surprise, hurling herself away from her opponent and the pillar as the flames go up, also further yanking on the werewolf in the hopes of dragging it down with her. The flames that manage to singe she had braced for the pain and yet.. nothing. Weird. Weird, but she wasn't complaining about it. Glancing around for Dracula at his boast again, she caught sight of him on the rooftop nearby.
Typical. Well that worked out in their favor, really. ]
no subject
His hands caught the blade between their palms and exploded into fierce fire to melt the blade. However at the same time Natsu had been channeling flames into his knees and the sole of his feet aiming to thrust upwards to knee the creature in the throat with an explosive leap.]
Heard that one before too! Last guy was definitely more intimidating than you though.
no subject
[The minotaur staggered backward at the force of the knee impact, tossing the axe aside and making a grab for Natsu's throat instead. The werewolf continued to ignore Lucy aside from untangling itself from the whip and lunging again at the Celestial Spirit. Of course it was when Lucy spotted him on the nearby rooftop that he saw his opportunity. He yanked the string of the Werewolf mentally causing it to lunge at her as he teleported behind Lucy, thrusting a clawed hand forward, aiming to pierce her back just between a pair of ribs.]
