OPEN LOG; EVERGLADE, GENESSIA - do not reply until you read the ooc post
The first sign that something was going on that day hadn't been at the crack. It hadn't even been in Genessia, as a matter of fact. The first sign had been a sound not unlike a window shuddering in a heavy storm. It perforated the atmosphere within Everglade first.
Only a few moments later, Fayren would hear the same shudder echo through its forests, forcing birds to flee the cover of the trees. In the populated areas of the kingdom itself, it would be much quieter, as if it were miles away.
Then it would return to Genessia. The crack in the sky was rapidly saturated, thousands more than before forcing their whole shapeless bodies against the barrier. Some of the strange aurora-tinted color seems to press into their ranks, a few of the strange creatures being forced back, but quickly being replaced by another of its kind.
And a sickening crack could be heard in all archways near and far, but it was loudest in Everglade, where a new crack had formed. Two humongous cracks appeared in Everglade's barrier like a sinister grin as if it were laughing at the town just above the clocktower. The two cracks took only a couple of seconds more before the strange monstrous creatures burst small holes into that crack, not big enough to fit their bodies through at once.
The leaked through, dripping like poison from an apple out of that sneering mouth in the sky until the first of these creatures fell to the ground. The eager, hungry soul from before, whose abyss of a stomach had been shared with the whole of Genessia when he'd opened his misshapen jaw the first time a few days ago now looked from side to side in the streets of Everglade.
The first face he saw was that of an NPC, and he only saw it for a moment before launching himself at the man and pinning him to the ground. Some would recognize him as the grizzled owner of The Rabbit's Foot. A loud scream was put out from the man as the creature opened its jaw wide, but did not eat him. Nothing seemed to happen when his jaw was opened, as a matter of fact.
The creature closed its mouth slowly before standing upright on what seemed to be a two-legged form, though if it had arms they didn't take shape. It made a gesture as if it were cracking its neck as the man escaped quickly, locking the door to his shop behind him.
More of the creatures were piling into Everglade slowly but surely, but this one in particular caught sight of a local werewolf, someone with a pendant, a soul, and repeated his mauling, but this time- this time something happened. This time a strange, glowing mist seemed to pull out of the Everglade resident's body, a faint glimmer of aurora with it, and in a short time this person stopped screaming. They were still alive, but it didn't seem like there was anything... inside, really.
A hissing, victorious laughter left the creature and he moved on, heading toward Genessia's gate along with his oversized mouth pulled up into an eerie grin that reflected the crack in the sky. Those that had made it in through Everglade's crack followed suit.
They had to let the rest of their friends in through Genessia; it was only the polite thing to do.

The creatures were falling to Grimmjow with relative ease. Drawing his weapon hadn't seemed necessary yet. These things were basically exactly what he was. A corrupted soul. Though what that corruption made them change into seemed completely different.]
Tch. These things really ain't that strong.
[Open]
Why are you attacking them? They haven't attacked us so far.
no subject
I've seen them attacking people all over the place. These things aren't going to play nice with you. Can't you tell what they are?
no subject
Not really. I know they were from the sky that we saw happen before today. I had hoped that they wouldn't mean us harm and that they just wanted to escape like we do.

[The cat in her arms however is trying to make a break for it, jumping out of her arms and running off as Hikari started to go after it, towards one of them.]
Come back here, kitty. It's not a good idea.
no subject
You and that flea bitten animal are in the way.

[While she was wanting to be nice, right now she just couldn't.]

[Action] Fifteen minutes before Hikari's arrival.
She turns a corner at the exact moment that the results of one of Grimmjow's attacks sends a spirit flying and barely grazing her before dissipating. And yet she doesn't seem to be very surprised.]
.. Somehow I thought you would appear happier.
[She comments, having not heard his earlier gripe.]
[Action]
I'm happier than I would be if I were just sitting around in my apartment. But these things don't pack any real power. I'd be better off fighting other Hollows.
[Action]
"It would not hurt to have a plan B should the situation go south."
no subject
"I'm killing them anyway. I guess it doesn't matter if I'm doing it near you or not." That's more than likely the closest he will get to actually saying the words that he would fight with her.
no subject
But there is one small problem; when she draws the attention of one particular spirit and it comes toward her, her vertical slash has no effect other than annoying it.
She can't say she's really surprised.
With an annoyed 'tch', she takes a hop back to keep her distance. "So what is the trick to this? Holy water?"
no subject
"I've told you before that my sword is Pantera. It's a Zanpakuto. " Translates into Soul-Cutter Sword. "Shinigami have them too, and they use them to kill Hollows and us Hollows use them to kill other Hollows and Shinigami. If you can channel your spirit energy, you could probably kill them too." He walks up to the spirit and drives his hand down through its head.
"Being like them helps too."
Ugh sorry for being so slow. orz

once the golden butterflies disappeared around her, she summoned her purple lotus. her weapon was at the ready and she was waiting for more orders.]
Lucifer of Pride, at your service. If these foolish weaklings are too much trouble for you then please allow me to dispose of them as you see fit!
no subject
Show me how food you really are with that thing.

[these things were odd spirits, correct? she was able to see that much, and if her master told her to take care of them then she certainly was going to do just that. she kicked off the ground, dashing towards the nearest spirit and she sliced at it with ease. her weapons were pure magic, of course it was able to hold them back.
one after another they fell, and when she had cleared the area she remained floating in the air. she turned to look over at her master.]
They've stopped for the time being, it seems...!
no subject
They'll be back. Doesn't seem like there is an end to these things.
no subject
[it was the training, and just from how much she wanted to please her master. she'll kill them all for him!!]
That crack has caused all of this....?!
[Open]
Do you know what these things are?
[She has her light pen in hand but it won't look like much of a weapon.]
no subject
I'm the same, but I'm called a Hollow. I don't know what these things call themselves.
no subject
Can these things talk?
[It will be easier to ask them what it is they are doing.]
I've seen them attacking people but it just seems random.
no subject
If these assholes can, then they haven't said anything yet. Doesn't matter, though. You are better off just killing them, since they came here looking for a fight. [Easier said than done, though. His weapon was able to fell the things easily, where other peoples could only fend them off.]
no subject
Right. [She doesn't look all that intimidating but she has confidence.]
I'll keep fighting then. I haven't seen a pattern in their attacks yet but hopefully I can find out what they are after.
no subject
There isn't one. [Grimmjow knew he would have seen it if there were. Reading enemies wasn't that difficult. More were starting to make their way towards the two blue haired beings.]
