WHAT : Bustlin' about with extra moneys in the pocket. Also getting busted by Natsu for possessions of dragon plushies.

[ After successfully Not-Tomb Raiding and getting payment for the most recent job (and Lucy hoped that the herb was actually going to work for that poor girl) it was time to do some well earned shopping. Not alone though, Neveren, the youngest member of Fairy Tail (kinda) was accompanying her. Her first stop is picking up some cooler clothing for herself and the kids since Regina was busy on a job herself. Next she stopped at a toy store, where she picked up something for him and herself. Her last stop was at the ice cream shoppe before heading back to Feyren to the guild. ]

[She's floundering hard. Not the first time he sees her this flustered and while he tries to keep his mind focused on other things, his talk with Battler definitely left some marks on his mind and observational skills.]

The face you say?

[He manages to make himself sound genuinely interested while hoping she says more.]

[ In her rush to try and avoid the answer she actually ends up answering more than she intends to. ]

S.. sure! And.. and the eyes, they're just um... eyelike... [ Wait what? ]

I-I mean.. um. They're... they're determined, and gentle and.. well there's nothing stronger than a dragon right? When it comes to protecting what's important -- l-like treasure.

[ Augh can she trip over her words any harder. ]

[Honestly he'd like to keep her talking but he's not sure how long the spell of truth caused by his presence there will last. So instead he decides to hop in with a bit of commentary of his own.]

Hmmmm so wouldn't that make you the treasure for this dragon?

[Does he mean the toy or himself? She can choose. He's being unintentionally vague now.]

[ Lucy paused at the question, glancing at him out of the corner of her eye for a moment. Augh that vagueness. ]

I.. suppose so. After all there are tons of stories about dragons being fiercely protective of their treasures. And that little guy doesn't look any different. I'd feel sorry for anyone who tried to get between him and his treasure, actually. [ Eheh heh.. she studies the small dragon plush with her chin on her hands. ]

But I don't mind that...

[Completely innocent here. Okay maybe not completely but he's convincing!]

Hmmmm. That's quite the praise I'm sure this little guy is more than happy just to be hugged by you every day~

[ Extremely convincing! Curse that pokerface! ]

You think so, huh?

[ And then it slips out before she can stop herself. ]

What about you?

[He's the best at it!]

Yeah.

[And he's about to toss the plushie into her arms before she does the unexpected and follows through.]

Me? Well...I guess you could say we...have the same goals in mind....

[ So unfaaaaaaaaair!

She hadn't actually MEANT to ask that, but the answer made her smile all the same. ]

Well... if you have the same goals in mind - [ she trailed off at a sudden thought. Wait. Was he talking about being hugged by her every day or protecting treasures? Whoah. Wait. What? ]

[He' s just idly playing with the plushie's tail while avoiding eye contact for the moment.]

Yeah? What were you gonna say?

Um.. I...

[ ..she wished she had something to fiddle with right now. She toyed with her pen instead. ]

I was just wondering..which goal.. I guess.

[ Face getting a bit more red. She wasn't sure how to react and even more she wondered WHY She even asked. ]

J.. Just out of curiosity.. I mean..! You've never really seemed like a greedy kind of person so.. so.. I was just ... curious.

[He's holding the plushie at the moment while lisstening to her answer to the end.]

Really? Is that what you think?

[He's pretty sure there's been moments when he wanted Lucy to spend time just with him.]

[ Lucy glanced back at him in surprise. ]

Well.. there's the things you collect in your room as mementos (precious memories), but I don't think that would really count towards you being greedy. Treasures, on the other hand... I don't know.

[ She scratched her cheek trying to picture him being greedy. Of course she's thinking of it in a more material sense. She grins a little, tilting her head to watch him fiddling with the dragon's tail (that looks really cu--okay weird thoughts, you can stop that now)]

Are you?

[He's not surprised she knows about that. Even before Exsilium he'd picked up her scent in his house after they day she cleaned the place up in her supposed to be petty attempt at revenge.]

Well I do have...precious things I don't want to lose.

[fiddle fiddle some more.]

... I know what you mean. [ She fiddled with her pen absently. ] It's the same way for me - I have something so precious, I can't imagine being without h.. it.

[ Just keep on dancing around the subject, there Luce. ]

[Did she really know? Natsu has to wonder briefly though he quickly realizes that he doesn't want her to know that feeling. It's enough that he knows.]

Well....I just wish I'd realized it sooner.

[ Maybe not to the extent that he did, but.. she knew enough that being without him was...unfathomable. He was her precious.. ]

Hey... you haven't lost any...anything... [ Forgetting the momentary fluster, she got to her feet and moved over to sit next to him on the bed, hesitantly reaching out to rest an arm around him. His precious treasures were still here. ]

What's precious to you - it's still here. [ And so is she. Though she can't bring herself to say that, suddenly locking her gaze on her right hand. ahem. Y-es. Don't think about losing precious future Lucy's. Er. Treasures. Th.. that's what he worried about right? ]

[He doesn't wish that kind of experience on anyone especially not on her.]

Mmm. Yeah I guess. It's still scary. How easily that happened once. The thought of it happening again...

[He drops the plushie's tail and just lowers his head a little unable to look Lucy in the eye.]

It won't.

[ She didn't want to think of it happening - to either of them. Being able to keep on living, and going on adventures together was what made her happiest. BUT, more important than those selfish thoughts - she needed to do something to cheer him up. OR not so much cheer him as reassure him. ]

Hey, Natsu, come on, look at me. [ It was just wrong seeing him so down. But if he wouldn't look at her, she'd just have to make him look at her. ]

[See this is why he's usually one to take the straightest approach. Because when he starts thinking and counting in the consequences, he becomes afraid. Especially when something dear to him is at stake.]

I...

[She telling him to look at her. HE doesn't want to worry her but doesn't want to go against her wishes either.]

[ No no no, no being afraid. And it was a little too late to not worry her! She was already worried - she didn't like to see him like this. She reached up with the arm that wasn't around him to brush her fingers against his cheek. ]

Natsu... look at me? Please?

[The fact that she got to see him like this was even more proof of how important she was. How he could show the full extent of how he felt when in her presence]

Mmm I don't think...that's a good idea right now. I think this little guy would be better for you.

[He moves the plushie over towards Lucy.]

[ And she did love being able to see so many sides of him, to know him so well. But she couldn't stand to see him upset, or afraid either. He was her rock, her support when she was afraid - the least she could do was be the same for him. She dropped her hand from his face in surprise when he moved the plushie towards her. She left her hand rest against it for a second, glancing towards him. ]

... I don't agree. That's..

[ The one better for her - Sleeping with the little guy sure, giving squishy hugs of course - but... she leaned against his side, putting the plushie next to her. HE might not think it was a good idea to look at her for some reason, but.. she slipped her other arm around him. ]

I'm still here, Natsu.

[ She wouldn't leave him for anything in the world. And certainly not while he was troubled. He'd need a prybar to get her away. ]

[He doesn't move until he's suddenly in her arms moment when his whole body tenses up for a split second before slowly relaxing into the hold. He can't really say anything against that. He's being ridiculous he knows that as well.]

I know. I know you are. Your scent, the feeling of your arms. That warmth. It's all here.

[Honestly the words are right there in the open the words he could use to identify why he feels this way. So easy and within reach but he just can't say them yet.]

[ It was the same for her. It'd be easy to say the words. She could! But she was balking when it actually came to saying the words out loud. Wanting to tell him just how much he meant to her and... ]

... I'm not going anywhere.

[ In the near future or right now, she just felt he needed the warmth of her presence right now. And.well.. ]

[That warmth of her embrace seems to do the trick and after a while she'd feel him returning it, gently and light.]

Yeah. Not without me you're not.

[Honestly when did she become so adept at making him open up like this?]
