Action (Dracula's Castle)
[The dawn of the eighth day. Having been confined to the castle since his 'rescue', Soma had been using 'his' room, sleeping in 'his' bed, and growing gradually more fearful. What was that monster that looked like his father? How had it plucked him from his feet and thrown him from the room? Why had it acted as if he was somehow beneath its attention?

The first light of morning brought answers. It also brought memories, and wisdom, and pain, and the knowledge that virtually half his own life had been a lie. He had always been what he was now.

And that knowledge brought rage. Black, midnight rage. A roar very like that of Dracula himself echoes through the castle, and may even be heard throughout Everglade. Someone has awoken from a dream of happiness and potential, and he is most definitely not happy.]

[It's been a little while, and the initial wave of anger has passed. Soma looks... pretty damn awful, to be honest. Drained. Gray. Pale, even for him.]

Does anyone have advice for someone who's just learned that they've been lied to by the people closest to them for half their life? I could... really use some.

Human language does not have words for the things I want to do to the person who murdered them... but he is already dead. By my own hand, no less, though I didn't know it at the time.

Hakuba... I cannot hate him. I am angry with him, I will likely be angry with him for a very long time to come. But I cannot hate him, because he kept me from becoming something even worse than what I am now.

[What she finds is probably not what she expected. Soma is curled up on his bed, the covers drawn around him like a cloak, his knees drawn up to his chest and his arms around them. The tears trailing down his cheeks are slightly pink, which is more obvious when they hit the sheet.

There's a very large hole in the wall nearby, which is slowly repairing itself. The castle is used to vampire tantrums.]

The memories of the day it happened are a bit of a jumble, but... no, I don't think they did. Not that it's hard to figure out, all things considered. Hakuba sealed my memories of the murder of my parents. Everything I knew about them, their killer... and then took me in, as a friend of my father. Said they were overseas somewhere, doing some kind of work with the company he owned. A comforting lie that I couldn't even question because of the seal he used. I have regained the memories - what remains of them, at least - because of last week's insanity. The man who killed them is dead. I was not given the chance to mourn; not even to know where their graves are. For eight years.

[Soma sighs, deflating a little bit. He looks... worn out. Tired. Thinner even than he was last time they met.]

I know why he did it. And I agree, it was the right thing. It was probably the only way he could come up with that would let me grow up in anything like a normal way, and give me the strength to face my fate when it hunted me down. But I still need to have a really, really long talk with him, the next time I see him. And... Mina too. She was the key to the seal.

[That expression right there, that is pain. It's bad enough the old man lied to him... but Mina was in on it, too.]

[It had definitely been an awkward few days with Soma. He'd had his minions keep a very close eye on his chambers as Soma invaded them. Of course when the roar happened, Vlad needed to see what was going on with his own eyes. As such he appeared in the shadows and remained there for a good long moment before speaking.]

Everything. About who and what I am; about what happened to my parents; about why they were 'protecting' me. They thought that if I continued to carry the knowledge - if I went into adulthood knowing what I was, and that my parents had been murdered - I would have sought out revenge. I was cheated out of the chance to mourn them as I knew them.
