[1st Soul] // [video/action]
[Maka understands perfectly what she just read. She made sure to read it over and over again at varying speeds to take it all in, like a good student would.
It's just difficult for her to accept. The strange and mystical feeling of the world doesn't sit well with her, can she be certain she didn't just drop into the Witch world inexplicably? Well...maybe the Witches wouldn't be unkind to her, now that they've made peace anyway. But she doesn't feel comfortable without Soul around.
So when the video turns on, there's a teenage girl seeming totally marveled by the level of technology just the communicator shows. ...Then she realizes it's turned on and clears her throat.]
Hello. Maka Albarn, Demon Scythe Meister here...where is Death City? Or Ki--I mean Lord Death?
[That's still so weird for her, Kid's the new Lord Death? Wild.]
...And what's a--?
[Love potion, the word she was going for was love potion, but a shout interrupts her and another person appears on the screen. This time it's a boy with golden eyes and curious white stripes encircling his black hair. He might have been running but doesn't seem out of breath as he checks over Maka with a fussing worry that only someone really obsessive would have.]
Maka, are you all right? Have you seen Soul anywhere? I can't find Liz and Patti myself--oh, your pigtails are crooked!
[The boy immediately gets to work with untying and fixing the girl's pigtails while she stares at him. Finally she sighs, leaving Kid to his grooming (he's only doing it because he's worried and needs something to work on), and shifts her gaze to the camera.]
If anybody from the Academy could report in, we'd appreciate it.
[If anybody comes across them anywhere, Maka will still be sitting patiently, waiting for Kid to finish the fixing. Kid on the meanwhile will be piling questions on her about who what where and why.]
((ooc: Replies may come from both Maka and Kid!))

Sir, there's a city in our country called "Boring."
[Maka, what.]
And even so, it was named after Lord Death, our leader, since he created the city. If you haven't heard about it, I'm sorry for wasting your time with questioning you about it, but please don't insult Kid's father.
no subject
Sounds like some sort of cult.
no subject
No, the "cult" would be people that follow Kishin Asura.
no subject
[He shrugs a bit.] Doesn't change the fact that taking orders from someone calling themselves "Lord Death" would flag people as cultists as well.

There are no gods. Only demons.

He feels ever so much better when he isn't looking at that man and his offensively mismatched eyes.]
Allow me to interject. Where, precisely, are you from?
no subject
I was born in Kyoto.

...I had hoped that might explain something, but...
[Death the Kid is unfamiliar with the phrase 'Oh, Japan' and all its connotations.]

[And then there's Maka, applying practical thinking to every damn thing.]
"Demons" or anything similar to that are usually dispatched by us, so they don't hurt anybody.
no subject
[That gets an amused smirk as he leans back in his chair, red eye glowing slightly.]
You kids? Demon hunters? Good luck with that. You'll need it.

And 200 battles later I think I'm doing quite well with monster-killing, thank you.
