[1st Soul] // [video/action]
[Maka understands perfectly what she just read. She made sure to read it over and over again at varying speeds to take it all in, like a good student would.
It's just difficult for her to accept. The strange and mystical feeling of the world doesn't sit well with her, can she be certain she didn't just drop into the Witch world inexplicably? Well...maybe the Witches wouldn't be unkind to her, now that they've made peace anyway. But she doesn't feel comfortable without Soul around.
So when the video turns on, there's a teenage girl seeming totally marveled by the level of technology just the communicator shows. ...Then she realizes it's turned on and clears her throat.]
Hello. Maka Albarn, Demon Scythe Meister here...where is Death City? Or Ki--I mean Lord Death?
[That's still so weird for her, Kid's the new Lord Death? Wild.]
...And what's a--?
[Love potion, the word she was going for was love potion, but a shout interrupts her and another person appears on the screen. This time it's a boy with golden eyes and curious white stripes encircling his black hair. He might have been running but doesn't seem out of breath as he checks over Maka with a fussing worry that only someone really obsessive would have.]
Maka, are you all right? Have you seen Soul anywhere? I can't find Liz and Patti myself--oh, your pigtails are crooked!
[The boy immediately gets to work with untying and fixing the girl's pigtails while she stares at him. Finally she sighs, leaving Kid to his grooming (he's only doing it because he's worried and needs something to work on), and shifts her gaze to the camera.]
If anybody from the Academy could report in, we'd appreciate it.
[If anybody comes across them anywhere, Maka will still be sitting patiently, waiting for Kid to finish the fixing. Kid on the meanwhile will be piling questions on her about who what where and why.]
((ooc: Replies may come from both Maka and Kid!))

What kind of sicko would force someone to love them like that? That's horrible!
[Ugh. All right, all right, she'll move on.
Ugh. People would really do "that" for love, Meatloaf lied.]
Yeah...we do. I doubt we'll find a place like the Gallows Mansion here, Kid, but if you don't mind something less fancy, you can stay with me. As for jobs...I guess I'll have to see what's available, do you know where I would find that?

Humans have the will to choose for a reason!
[Sorry, Quinn. They have STRONG FEELINGS about these sorts of things. It's even enough to have him momentarily forget the comment about how his first swipe had been plenty. Oh no he probably ruined it--]
That's right. Seeing as I don't require food-- [He begins to pull some of his newfound currency from his coat pocket, intending on shoving it at Maka.] --you've been quite helpful.
[This, to Quinn, along with the first smile Kid has worn since this whole messy day started.]

[Quinn blinks at their reactions. Love potions would never work in his world, so for him it's like being concerned about a ten headed fire breathing unicorn terrorizing a town that exists in a pre-historic Camelot...Ridiculous. But he does understand their disgust, he has seen...no...More accurately he once was a victim of where science stole free will from a person.]
[Sometimes when he meets people from his past, or people that remind him of that time he still hears a ticking of a clock, the clock that had replaced his human heart and could go off anytime he stepped out of line. Alex had changed that though, releasing him from his eternal imprisonment.]
Yes... You're exactly right.
[He says, a hand mindlessly coming up to his chest as he glances away for a second. But then he's looking right back at them and pretending no such thing occurred.]
I've heard tale of a building within the main city where one can go and locate a position. I've also noticed a few people offering their services over the network. Personally I am looking for a more stable occupation myself, but I have been able to acquire a part time job in the meantime.
[Have to make money to live.]
It's my pleasure to be of service. [He takes a small bow, as any gentlemen should.] If you require anything more feel free to contact me. You may address me as Quinn.
[He will not provide his last name for the sake of avoiding being called Mr. or Sir Stirling. He dislikes such a title...but here he wasn't exactly a Captain, so he couldn't use that as he usually would.]

[And she pats Kid on the shoulder.]
He will, too, right Kid?
[Yes she just decided this, equal earnings and all.]
Thank you, Mr. Quinn!
[Oh, what was that about not liking being called mister? Maka calls every person older than her mister or miss, oops.]
no subject
Ah, yes. Thank you, Quinn, we'll keep that in mind.
[Beware, they might have saved a whole world, but they're never above bugging people older than them for information. Quinn may or may not eventually rue the day he made that offer.]

He knows better. Good.]
Well, we'll have to work together if we're going to be living together, right?
