Genessia Carnival

The week of the carnival has arrived! With the combined effort of paid workers, volunteers, Azura, and those Azura decided were going to help her (Looking at you Fam), the setup has gone without a hitch. Those who come by the large park in Genessia City during the morning and afternoon of the 16th will see the carnival in various stages of completion. It isn't the sun starts to set and the sky begins to burn the colors of pink and orange with a topping of blue that the lights on the carnival tents and other structures come to life.

THE CARNIVAL IS ON.

It's clear that the carnival takes up almost all of the park; it's setup done so that the rides, attractions, booths and other assorted portions of the carnival are setup around ponds and lakes and take advantage of paths in the park. At the entrance are a myriad of food stalls, while the bigger rides are further in the back. In between are smaller attractions like games, but more importantly this is where all of the booths for the residents are set up. Several rows deep, the offerings here are wildly different and each engaging in its own way. Lastly, the larger attractions of the Carnival are organized in the large central portion of the carnival where a large area has been cleared and sectioned off in 4 large rectangles to house each with plenty of room.

Carnival Fare

Food And Drink - There are so many smells that sometimes your nose might be confused. From the scent of roasting meat, to the smell of sugary sweet cotton candy, the myriad of scents mingle throughout the whole carnival. There's an entire section of picnic tables for carnival goers to take a load off and eat their fill. The admission ticket even paid for complimentary drinks! However, there are plenty of stalls that are offering much more interesting options, including alcohol (for adults only!). Food ranges in price of course, and unfortunately there are a few stalls that might be overpricing their food...
Rides and Attractions - The carnival isn't complete without classic carnival rides. There's a ferris wheel, teacups, several different merry-go-rounds, as well as a SUPER ROMANTIC Tunnel of Love. For the more adventurous there's even a few smaller sized roller coasters as well as an interesting looking magically powered water slide that's powered by a couple of local wizards and a "Doctor". One of the most popular rides seems to be the bumper cars, where each car has the chance to change shape on impact. Lastly for those who are brave enough there's a 2 story haunted house of mirrors full of jump scares and atmospheric music.
Games and Stalls - THIS is where all of those stalls that were signed up for are. Of course, they make up the bulk of stalls, though the ones that are food oriented border the area mentioned earlier. Other booths such as shooting ranges, pingpong ball toss, fortune tellers, toy building booths and even a couple of booths where you can fish up your own little fish pet are here. Careful though, some of these booths are lowkey ripoffs, since they were largely built by volunteers. Should you get scammed it's wise to try and find security rather than handle it yourselves.

Main Attractions

Randomized Plays - These plays are held nightly, but they're not your traditional plays. Participants are chosen from the audience who paid admission! On top of that, the roles are randomly assigned. You never really know what you're going to get, so in the end the plays come out a lot like improv. They're also largely hilarious, unintentionally or otherwise as often the two plays wind up intermingled! Once, Rumtumtugger wound up playing the part of Belle, while Gaston had to do a solo song all on his own... In the end, it'll be up to you what role your character plays, but it's never quite what's expected. Behind the scenes must be a riot no matter what!
Obstacle Course - One attraction at the center of the carnival seems to weave around the other three, and out into the grounds itself. It's a complicated series of obstacles, from a pit of inky, oily water, to slippery bridges and swinging portions that need to be dodged. Portions of the course are even quite vertical, offering a strenuous climb as part of the challenge. This course is not for the faint of heart, and many will find themselves having to give up halfway through, or even being disqualified by being knocked out of the course. Those who choose to work together might make it farther but in the end only one can win. Be prepared for betrayal if you take that route...
Eating Competition - There's not just one eating competition during the week of the carnival. Instead, several are held throughout the week. Hotdogs are first, followed by pancakes, then burgers. After that, towards the final three days of the carnival the bigger competitions start.
- Hotdogs - how many can you eat in 5 minutes?
- Pancakes - how many can you eat in 5 minutes?
- Burgers - how many can you eat in 8 minutes?
- Whole Chickens - You have 3, can you eat them all in 12 minutes?
- Whole Turkey - You have an entire turkey, how much can you eat in 10 minutes?
- 6 Tier Chocolate Cake - Finish the whole cake to win. (Hour Time Limit)
Those who have supernatural abilities are given an extra challenge to make things fair. For those who eat themselves sick there is a medical tent nearby, and of course plenty of room for a crowd of spectators.
Jousting Competition - The colorful, campy and overall cheesy look of this jousting competition almost looks like a childish version of the competition. However, the prizes are real. Instead of the prize for the winning "knight" the winner of each match will be able to earn a fair sum of redbills! It's enough to cover the entry fee paid for the competition and then a couple hundred on top of that. Each participant chooses their weapon, but they all have different strange additional abilities depending on their color...
- Yellow - sparkles on impact
- Red - screams upon impact
- Green - slimes whatever it hits
- Blue - freezes what it touches for 3 seconds
For this competition special abilities beyond that of a normal human are dampened by special units hidden in the ring. Disabling them would of course, wind up in the participant being disqualified.

[He hears the snicker and turns to look at her with a raised eyebrow, though that quickly fades when he catches sight of her clothing. Damn, girl.]

I have my pride at stake at this point. I can't let tiny ping pong balls or the stuffed animals hanging from this booth defeat me.

[Blame her boss/boyfriend for the current attire. It was honestly one of the few choices she was willing to wear for their 'uniform' for the carnival. ]

I can see zhat, zhough at this rate you'll haf vasted zhe entire night on one game.

[Hey, no worries, he is not complaining.]

Maybe so, but I can still regain my honor, or my pride, or my stubborn dedication to ping pong balls.

[She figured. Even Rip had to admit that the outfit showed off her figure more than she usually did.]

Somehow, I zhink all you're going to get is an empty vallet.

[She sidles up to the booth he's at and puts down a little money to get her own set of ping pong balls.]

Shall ve see if I fare any better?

Wouldn't be the first time!

[He grins when he sees her purchasing her own ping pong balls, nodding at her question.]

Sure. May the best human-and-or-vampire triumph.

[She grinned and really, he should be worried about the tell tale fangs she's showing as she takes up the first ball and chooses her target carefully. The first throw bounces off the edge of the target she was aiming for.

Then again, Rip was testing the game before she made any true effort. After the second test ball, she only had three more left. Those three? Hit their targets effortlessly with a gentle under hand throw from a certain huntress. ]

[He lets out a low whistle at that, eyebrows up and looking impressed.] Jesus. Nice job.

[Rip smirks as she collects a medium sized prize from the vendor. She had chosen a goofy looking blue shark that reminded her of someone she knew. ]

Thanks. I've had a lot of practice vith my aim over zhe years und like to pride myself on never missing unless I choose to.

'Cuz of the whole 'Huntress' thing? You definitely seem to have it down pat, that's for fucking sure.

Exactly~. Zhere's a reason I gained zhe nickname over zhe years. Besides, fifty years is quite a long time to hone a skill like this.

[And she took pride in that fact. Besides, if he thought this was impressive, he should see her actually hunt. It's...both terrifying and magical.]

Now, lets see if you haf anymore luck or if you need a vampire to vin you a prize~.

[He chuckles.] Ah, so now it's going to be a challenge, is it? All right. Let's see if I can finally do some justice, here.

[He tosses one more ball and it immediately bounces off of the rim.]

[She's watching and snickering as it bounces off the rim of the target. Without saying much, she buys both of their next rounds and then motions for him to go again.]

Throw gently und relax. Your aim's not bad, just.. off.

[He frowns at the cups as if they've personally insulted his honor, but he does nod and do as Rip says. For a second, Graverobber exhales, forcing himself relaxed, before his gives it another shot.

This one hits the rim but circles in a bit before plopping in. Graverobber reacts with utter delight.]

YES FUCK YES THAT'S IT RIGHT THERE-

[She grins as he makes the throw. Barely, but, he does make it.]

Now lets zee if you can do zhat a few more times to vin your prize.

[Well, when it's phrased like that, he has to meet the challenge. So he throws again, doing as Rip says. This time it's a cleaner landing, the ball sinking in without hitting the rim.]

YES YES FUCK YES

[Now there he goes! She laughs as he makes the next one and keeps encouraging him to throw the rest of the balls so he can win one of the prizes he wanted. ]

[Graverobber does much better on his next few throws. He's not great, but he's much more consistent. It's enough that he's eventually able to pick out one of the smaller prizes, which is how he winds up yanking an adorable stuffed animal plushie off of a hook on the booth, beaming with pride.]

[She cheers him on and waits for him to finish and claim his prize before she threw her own set of balls, making them in and claiming another prize for herself.

This one she picked a goofy looking whale. Apparently, Rip was going for a sea creature theme. ]

Zee? Much better. A lot of zhe games are like zhat around here. Take your time, relax und focus. Though, some really are rigged against you.

[She shrugged slightly. It was the truth as far as she knew with any carnival. It might be different here.. maybe. ]

Just pick your games carefully.

I guess you got a good point. Cute whale, by the by.

[He bonks the whale with his own stuffed owl jokingly.]

I'll probably try my luck at another booth then. Wanna come with?

[She grins as he bonks the whale.]

Thanks. I seem to haf a zhing for sharks und vhales lately.

[Well, she is dating a shark and Rip just found the whale cute.]

Sure~. I haf time before I haf to be back at zhe Jolly Eddy's booth.

Excellent. How's darts sound? Might be able to procure another plushie or some form of goldfish off of that.

Sounds perfect~. Lets see how zhe dart game fairs against my aim.

You're on. Hopefully your training applies just as well to pointy shit as it does ping-pong.

[The booth isn't that far away, only a few dozen feet from where they are. Graverobber buys ten darts and forks over five to Rip.]

All right, game on.

Ve vill just haf to see, von't ve~. Ballons are harder to hit even vith sharp pointy objects.

[She follows him over to the other booth and takes her five darts and hefts them in her hand slightly with a faint smirk. This was going to be fun.]

You're on~.

[Let the dart throwing begin.]

[Graverobber nods with a sort of gleeful determination. He does start off by doing what Rip told him, taking his time to relax and slow down and then aim --

-- and then dark angles so the flat side bounces off a balloon, tossing it harmlessly to the ground.]
