I. Text
[ The situation is overwhelming. Maiya had never expected to wake up again, never mind in such a foreign environment. As surreal as the space around her was, she would have nearly thought this were an afterlife she had never considered—at least, until she finds the pamphlet. Her situation may have seemed fantastical, but the wad of cash tucked inside and the note telling her to get a job were anything but. The hologram waiting for her seems to confirm that thought, but it does little to clarify that matter of how she could be here.

Left in a completely unknown, impossible situation, she has nothing to fall back on but the most basic impulse engrained in her: she has to contact Kiritsugu. There's no reason to imagine he'd be here as well, or able to see whatever message she sends out, but she can see no other first step but to try. They already have a code for situations not unlike this one, should one of them ever be captured and unsure of their location. ]

hanged man

[ There is one thing she doesn't mind about her situation. Text communication can't give an unwanted listener clues about her location the way radio can. ]

II. Action (Genessia City)
[ Maiya doesn't wait for an answer after sending that message. She's still moving on instinct, and her instincts say she needs a change of clothes. Part of that is an irrational impulse born of her last memories, telling her that her position has been compromised and that she needs an outfit not immediately recognizable by her enemies. And, part of that is because her clothes are covered in blood.

So, if you're lucky enough to have chosen this particular day to shop for clothes in Genessia City, you may find yourself approached by a serious-looking woman dressed in equally serious-looking clothes, her face utterly stoic despite her jacket being stiff with her own blood. ]

Pardon me. Do you know much about what's in-fashion here?

[ She needs to look unremarkable, okay.

Later in the day, once she has something new to wear, you might encounter her stuffing her bloody clothes in a public trashcan. Because that's normal. ]

III. Text (Anonymous)
[ It isn't until she's had some time to process her situation that she tries to address the general population of of Genessia. There's much she needs to come to terms with, but— ]

Is there anyone who remembers dying before arriving to this place?

[ That's the subject that weighs most heavily on her mind. She still isn't sure what to make of the discrepancy between her own experience and the language of kidnapping. But, maybe those who have been here longer can lay her thoughts to rest. ]

Something has happened to the CPU! Security measures seem to have gone absolutely wonky, making everyone’s conversations:

◘ Private messages may become public messages
◘ Unanonymous when they’re trying to post anonymously
◘ Undeletable
◘ Misfired

Will it cause technological and privacy chaos? Yes, absolutely. Have fun with that.

Keep in mind that there is only one requirement for participation in this event: You must tag at least one person you do not currently have CR with a misfire.

Otherwise, whatever drama or crack you want to cause with this one, go for it. The CPU will feel better on Saturday, so this is a quick two-day event and will be done in this single log post (here!) so it’s easy to post misfires all in one place but as always, you are welcome to make your own posts as well.

To opt out: There was a power surge when this technology fluke happened, so your device is now refusing to turn on. It may need repairs or replacement.

Genessia Carnival

The week of the carnival has arrived! With the combined effort of paid workers, volunteers, Azura, and those Azura decided were going to help her (Looking at you Fam), the setup has gone without a hitch. Those who come by the large park in Genessia City during the morning and afternoon of the 16th will see the carnival in various stages of completion. It isn't the sun starts to set and the sky begins to burn the colors of pink and orange with a topping of blue that the lights on the carnival tents and other structures come to life.

THE CARNIVAL IS ON.

It's clear that the carnival takes up almost all of the park; it's setup done so that the rides, attractions, booths and other assorted portions of the carnival are setup around ponds and lakes and take advantage of paths in the park. At the entrance are a myriad of food stalls, while the bigger rides are further in the back. In between are smaller attractions like games, but more importantly this is where all of the booths for the residents are set up. Several rows deep, the offerings here are wildly different and each engaging in its own way. Lastly, the larger attractions of the Carnival are organized in the large central portion of the carnival where a large area has been cleared and sectioned off in 4 large rectangles to house each with plenty of room.

Carnival Fare

  1. Food And Drink - There are so many smells that sometimes your nose might be confused. From the scent of roasting meat, to the smell of sugary sweet cotton candy, the myriad of scents mingle throughout the whole carnival. There's an entire section of picnic tables for carnival goers to take a load off and eat their fill. The admission ticket even paid for complimentary drinks! However, there are plenty of stalls that are offering much more interesting options, including alcohol (for adults only!). Food ranges in price of course, and unfortunately there are a few stalls that might be overpricing their food...

  2. Rides and Attractions - The carnival isn't complete without classic carnival rides. There's a ferris wheel, teacups, several different merry-go-rounds, as well as a SUPER ROMANTIC Tunnel of Love. For the more adventurous there's even a few smaller sized roller coasters as well as an interesting looking magically powered water slide that's powered by a couple of local wizards and a "Doctor". One of the most popular rides seems to be the bumper cars, where each car has the chance to change shape on impact. Lastly for those who are brave enough there's a 2 story haunted house of mirrors full of jump scares and atmospheric music.

  3. Games and Stalls - THIS is where all of those stalls that were signed up for are. Of course, they make up the bulk of stalls, though the ones that are food oriented border the area mentioned earlier. Other booths such as shooting ranges, pingpong ball toss, fortune tellers, toy building booths and even a couple of booths where you can fish up your own little fish pet are here. Careful though, some of these booths are lowkey ripoffs, since they were largely built by volunteers. Should you get scammed it's wise to try and find security rather than handle it yourselves.

Main Attractions

  1. Randomized Plays - These plays are held nightly, but they're not your traditional plays. Participants are chosen from the audience who paid admission! On top of that, the roles are randomly assigned. You never really know what you're going to get, so in the end the plays come out a lot like improv. They're also largely hilarious, unintentionally or otherwise as often the two plays wind up intermingled! Once, Rumtumtugger wound up playing the part of Belle, while Gaston had to do a solo song all on his own... In the end, it'll be up to you what role your character plays, but it's never quite what's expected. Behind the scenes must be a riot no matter what!

  2. Obstacle Course - One attraction at the center of the carnival seems to weave around the other three, and out into the grounds itself. It's a complicated series of obstacles, from a pit of inky, oily water, to slippery bridges and swinging portions that need to be dodged. Portions of the course are even quite vertical, offering a strenuous climb as part of the challenge. This course is not for the faint of heart, and many will find themselves having to give up halfway through, or even being disqualified by being knocked out of the course. Those who choose to work together might make it farther but in the end only one can win. Be prepared for betrayal if you take that route...

  3. Eating Competition - There's not just one eating competition during the week of the carnival. Instead, several are held throughout the week. Hotdogs are first, followed by pancakes, then burgers. After that, towards the final three days of the carnival the bigger competitions start.
    • Hotdogs - how many can you eat in 5 minutes?
    • Pancakes - how many can you eat in 5 minutes?
    • Burgers - how many can you eat in 8 minutes?
    • Whole Chickens - You have 3, can you eat them all in 12 minutes?
    • Whole Turkey - You have an entire turkey, how much can you eat in 10 minutes?
    • 6 Tier Chocolate Cake - Finish the whole cake to win. (Hour Time Limit)
Those who have supernatural abilities are given an extra challenge to make things fair. For those who eat themselves sick there is a medical tent nearby, and of course plenty of room for a crowd of spectators.

  4. Jousting Competition - The colorful, campy and overall cheesy look of this jousting competition almost looks like a childish version of the competition. However, the prizes are real. Instead of the prize for the winning "knight" the winner of each match will be able to earn a fair sum of redbills! It's enough to cover the entry fee paid for the competition and then a couple hundred on top of that. Each participant chooses their weapon, but they all have different strange additional abilities depending on their color...
    • Yellow - sparkles on impact
    • Red - screams upon impact
    • Green - slimes whatever it hits
    • Blue - freezes what it touches for 3 seconds
For this competition special abilities beyond that of a normal human are dampened by special units hidden in the ring. Disabling them would of course, wind up in the participant being disqualified.

[Don't ask how the communicator is set up to get a full picture of an anthropomorphic rabbit chomping away at a carrot. But that's what it's doing and that's the picture everyone is getting.

After a bit Bugs moves closer, leaning against something apparently off screen and pointing at the camera with the bitten end of the carrot.]

Alright, I get it. I'm in a whole other woirld. Dis ain't Burbank an it ain't Albuquerque needer. I buy it. But uh, see da on'y problem I got wit all a dis is.

[He gestures around him. Apparently he is in the woods, probably Fayren it's Fayren.]

Der ain't exactly a cartoon studio just aroun' da corna. So, what's a bunny ta do?

((ooc: please fill out Bugs' permission post and all his toon powers are listed on his journal :)!!!))

(She might be unrecognizable to the companions she has made, but she does look much more content. In Fayren, for those who care to seek her, rests a Unicorn under a tree. She is petite, moon white, cloven-hoofed and her eyes reflect all the wonders she has seen in the sea and on the land.)

If you can see me for what I am... (Some might be like the humans of her world - too blind to see the truth.) ...know that I now protect the forest of Fayren. No harm will befall it while I am here.

(Animals can be seen in the background, frolicking and forgetting their fear. Yet they do not approach her. She glances at them, watching over their play as if she is their guardian or mother.)

Who: Satou & Anyone who wants
What: Sparring sessions at the Holodeck
Why: Because VIOLENCE Love & Sparkles
When: Throughout the month
Summary: In order to practice her magic against a variety of foes, Satou asked a bunch of people to spar with her. She might also have offered to help others practice their spellcasting or fighting skills against her. In general, though, this is a lot of fighting.

(( ooc note: I'll be making private toplevels for anyone who asks. Feel free to make your own toplevel for unplanned sparring! ))

A word of advice.

If you don't know what a spell does, don't use it when you're so close to a large mana pool.

[ Noah does not look very happy. Though it seems more like she's exasperated than actually upset. Right now though, she was finishing setting up a barrier parameter around her home in Camp de Fae! Her bunnies, Pokemon and regular alike, are watching her curiously. ]

This can even happen to the pros, so we definitely don't need any more amateurs messing with magic they don't understand.  Safe to say if you have any nature powers and get too close to my house, I am going to end you.

[ You can practically hear how much she actually cares about a bounty. It's bunny defending all the way for this one. ]

[[Small note: this is mostly backdated, but you can poke Noah currently if you like, she'll probably just be venting.]]

[For a moment... just a moment, it’s a little more windy in the cavern as Theodora wakes inside the pod, trembling.

She tightens her grip on the package as her head swims, body aching from exertion as it slowly begins to come back to her.

She looks around the bay, squinting in the low light, before she makes her way to its mouth.

This...isn’t where she had been at all. While the box and her winds reading the area do provide at least a little bit of comfort for her immediate situation, but she can’t exactly quell the panic entirely. Where was she? What had those psychotic cultists done with-

She grimaces, hugging herself tightly and pausing just outside the entrance to gather herself a little more properly. She... probably looks really rough, despite her ‘rest’. Those long silver curls are certainly disheveled, and she can’t quite get the mildly pained and panicked look off her face entirely, even as she listens to the hologram.

Once the informative speech is over, one will be able to find her sitting on a bench nearby, bent at the waist with her head resting in her hands and a strange, but gentle, breeze keeping her company.]

—-

[Later, once she’s figured out just how those strange devices function, Theodora attempts a short broadcast, blinking confusedly at the screen for just a moment or two before she speaks.]

Hello... I was wondering if anyone knew of anywhere less... populated than the cities. Someplace bigger with...less around.

[An odd request, maybe, but she needs a backup plan, in case her situation gets a little more...intense than just sitting in her new room at the Commons.

Upon closer inspection, those bright teal eyes are almost...catlike...Something is definitely off.]

16 April 2018 @ 02:49 am
[ When Namine woke up, she had been confused. And slightly panicked at finding herself enclosed. But the pod had opened easily enough for her to slip out, clutching the items she had woken up with. She had grown accustomed to her white surroundings within Castle Oblivion. So this was new.

After emerging from the cave, she was blinking up at the sky. It felt strange. Like some trick. Glancing nervously around, she found herself expecting to see a black, cloaked figure appearing, closely followed by that voice -- pleasantly conversational and yet, filled with quiet malice.

But nothing happened.

She could see people bustling around a little ways from her, but nobody spared her a glance. Taking a deep breath, she inspected the items in her possession. It was the device that held her interest. Fumbling around with it, she finally managed to get it working.

She hoped so, anyway. There was a red, blinking light. That meant it was recording right? Anyone looking at her now, would realize she was a new arrival, what with the small chest tucked under one arm. ]

Can anyone tell me...

[ She paused, biting her lip. What was she even asking? How to get back home? No. She shook her head, as though to shake away those thoughts. The first thing to do was to find out if anyone from back home had been brought here as well. ]

I'm looking for my friends, please.

26 March 2018 @ 03:33 pm
 [Video]

[ The video flicks on with Noah looking directly at the screen. If you're looking close enough, you could see just how dead her eyes appear... which is a stark contrast to just how lively her expression is otherwise. ]

There seem to be a lot of strange new people running around now last time I checked this thing.

[ The picture scales back to see the entirety of Noah's face. ]

I figure as someone who was in your shoes not too long ago, I can do something resembling the right thing and give you a few pieces of advice.

Firstly, if you're feeling like chastising someone for not looking for a way out, don't bother. Some of us died to get here. Escaping means oblivion. You want to join the living back home? I sure won't stop you. Take any means you want, I suggest trying to figure out the barriers that surround the cities as a start. But don't ask everyone to help, you won't get anywhere.

Secondly, you might as well get comfortable. Even if there's an answer, I bet it will take both planning and magical strength to pull off. Even if you think this job system is a farce, it's the only thing standing between you and survival. When you don't have to think about survival, when your life isn't on the line, thinking about what you need to escape will come much easier, don't you think? I don't expect my words to get through all of you, but I did my civic duty and tried, so have fun.

Oh, and do take good care of any rabbits you see, alright? You'll have me to contend with if you don't.

[ She pans back further, revealing that she has tall, thin rabbit ears, and she is visibly shimmering with magical power. Noah flashes a toothy, surprisingly menacing grin, and the TV link shuts off. ]

[Action: Camp De Fae! - Fayren]

Come on now, I would have thought you'd have had more gusto with that attack!

[ Noah's hands are on her hips as she stares down what appears to be a blue, chubby rabbit with a thin tail. Noah appears to be staring down a distant tree, eyeing a wet spot where a water attack was thrown. Other than a few chips of bark being stripped off, it's no worse for wear. The Pokemon, however, is puffing itself up as if pouting. It clearly put in a lot of power into that bubble beam! ]

Ugh, look more closely. THIS is a magical water attack.

[ Noah takes a deep breath--for any given value that a magically charged spirit needs to breathe--and then points a finger at a distant tree, preferably far away from any living creature that might miss it. She makes her own imitation of Azumarrill's bubblebeam... but it's several times as strong, with several more bubbles. It's so strong that it blasts a hole through the tree in question, making said aqua rabbit jump in surprise, and sweat buckets. ]

Whoops. Overdid it.

[ Azumarrill however, only needed a moment to recover from that shocking display before puffing up her cheeks again and aiming a burst of water. Noah sighs. She isn't sure how to train Pokemon, now that the wild ones are all gone. Help her out? Or don't. ]

I had one of my most fun hunts in Fayren recently. Someone contracted me to get some dragon egg shells for them. It was kind of hard to locate a dragon that had hatched young already, but I managed to do it.

[He posts some pictures here.

The first picture is of him taking a selfie with a sleeping dragon. He's giving a peace sign and everything because it's totally going well.

Next picture is another selfie with the dragon. He's kind of giving it bunny ears. However, one of the dragon's eyes is open now. But Sun doesn't notice.

The next picture is of a panicked looking Sun after he sees the last picture. The dragon is standing up in this one. The next one is a shot of the mouth of the cave as flames come rushing out. Sun had been a good distance away, so he didn't get burnt.]

What I learned is that dragons don't like bunny ears. [And that it is possibly a terrible idea to wake a sleeping dragon. But mostly the first thing.]

14 March 2018 @ 11:50 am
[listen, she knows today is white day, but that isn't what's on her mind right now. she just needs to ask a simple, but powerful question.]

Would you do anything to get back home? Or is there a line that should not be crossed?

And, ultimately, who is content with just living here?

[Satou is still standing in front of the holographic introduction when she switches her device on. A few things were made clear to her right away: This place has a concept of 'most powerful' and, very likely, an understanding of magic. So she shows no shame with her magic during the video.]

Good day, everyone. I'm guessing there must be a lot of people here like me, if you'd set up so many resources for us. [Her school uniform glows pink, then changes into a warm, black peacoat. The brunette taps the new necklace to her neck and creates a stylish choker for it to attach to. Her hand is shaking, but she wants to make her magic obvious.]

My name is Satou Kuroneko. I-I'm a witch. [Said as if to defend herself. She lets the camera sweep over a girlish pink staff, before continuing in as firm a voice as she can manage.] I'm not here to pick fights, so please don't start any. Um... Mikale. Shugo. Y-You're here, right? Or uh. I-I mean... H-How do I check if someone I know is here? Or, uh... um...

[Her attempt to introduce herself bravely is already faltering. Satou turns the camera back to her wand so she can wipe away her tears. Back to looking tough and calm..!]

I-I can help. My magic can be useful. I-I hope to b-be... um... nngh... What do I do...?

[action]
[The petite witch can later be found wandering the city, her wand now hidden from sight. As much as she wants to be a tough cookie who can be relied on, some might notice this kid occasionally stop to wipe her eyes and whimper into her palm.]

I'm all alone again... Mikky... Sh-Shooees... Dummieesss.

25 February 2018 @ 07:51 pm
[The video comes on to show Setsuna sitting in an apartment looking to one side. She's clearly holding the communicator device as she keeps staring at the side before realizing the camera is on.]

Oh! It's on. W-well then. Um...For those who don't know, my name is Setsuna. I had taken part in the event during winter with the chaos in Fayren, trying to stop it. Though that's not what I'm here to talk about now.

[Shifting the camera, she's showing off an odd pokemon. More so considering the pokemon is upside-down on its back and wiggling its stubby legs in the air. At least it didn't seem to care that it's on its back.]

It appears you get what's called Pokemon from those tickets we got earlier? I admit I'm not familiar with these at all. Are they familiars? Magical creatures? What do I feed them? Do they enjoy eating couches?

[That last question follows a panning of the camera to the couch behind her, which looks like a steel trap tore out a chunk of the couch's armrest.]
