PLAYER EVENT: GENESSIA CARNIVAL

Genessia Carnival The week of the carnival has arrived! With the combined effort of paid workers, volunteers, Azura, and those Azura decided were going to help her (Looking at you Fam), the setup has gone without a hitch. Those who come by the large park in Genessia City during the morning and afternoon of the 16th will see the carnival in various stages of completion. It isn't the sun starts to set and the sky begins to burn the colors of pink and orange with a topping of blue that the lights on the carnival tents and other structures come to life. THE CARNIVAL IS ON. It's clear that the carnival takes up almost all of the park; it's setup done so that the rides, attractions, booths and other assorted portions of the carnival are setup around ponds and lakes and take advantage of paths in the park. At the entrance are a myriad of food stalls, while the bigger rides are further in the back. In between are smaller attractions like games, but more importantly this is where all of the booths for the residents are set up. Several rows deep, the offerings here are wildly different and each engaging in its own way. Lastly, the larger attractions of the Carnival are organized in the large central portion of the carnival where a large area has been cleared and sectioned off in 4 large rectangles to house each with plenty of room. Carnival Fare Food And Drink - There are so many smells that sometimes your nose might be confused. From the scent of roasting meat, to the smell of sugary sweet cotton candy, the myriad of scents mingle throughout the whole carnival. There's an entire section of picnic tables for carnival goers to take a load off and eat their fill. The admission ticket even paid for complimentary drinks! However, there are plenty of stalls that are offering much more interesting options, including alcohol (for adults only!). Food ranges in price of course, and unfortunately there are a few stalls that might be overpricing their food... Rides and Attractions - The carnival isn't complete without classic carnival rides. There's a ferris wheel, teacups, several different merry-go-rounds, as well as a SUPER ROMANTIC Tunnel of Love. For the more adventurous there's even a few smaller sized roller coasters as well as an interesting looking magically powered water slide that's powered by a couple of local wizards and a "Doctor". One of the most popular rides seems to be the bumper cars, where each car has the chance to change shape on impact. Lastly for those who are brave enough there's a 2 story haunted house of mirrors full of jump scares and atmospheric music. Games and Stalls - THIS is where all of those stalls that were signed up for are. Of course, they make up the bulk of stalls, though the ones that are food oriented border the area mentioned earlier. Other booths such as shooting ranges, pingpong ball toss, fortune tellers, toy building booths and even a couple of booths where you can fish up your own little fish pet are here. Careful though, some of these booths are lowkey ripoffs, since they were largely built by volunteers. Should you get scammed it's wise to try and find security rather than handle it yourselves. Main Attractions Randomized Plays - These plays are held nightly, but they're not your traditional plays. Participants are chosen from the audience who paid admission! On top of that, the roles are randomly assigned. You never really know what you're going to get, so in the end the plays come out a lot like improv. They're also largely hilarious, unintentionally or otherwise as often the two plays wind up intermingled! Once, Rumtumtugger wound up playing the part of Belle, while Gaston had to do a solo song all on his own... In the end, it'll be up to you what role your character plays, but it's never quite what's expected. Behind the scenes must be a riot no matter what! Obstacle Course - One attraction at the center of the carnival seems to weave around the other three, and out into the grounds itself. It's a complicated series of obstacles, from a pit of inky, oily water, to slippery bridges and swinging portions that need to be dodged. Portions of the course are even quite vertical, offering a strenuous climb as part of the challenge. This course is not for the faint of heart, and many will find themselves having to give up halfway through, or even being disqualified by being knocked out of the course. Those who choose to work together might make it farther but in the end only one can win. Be prepared for betrayal if you take that route... Eating Competition - There's not just one eating competition during the week of the carnival. Instead, several are held throughout the week. Hotdogs are first, followed by pancakes, then burgers. After that, towards the final three days of the carnival the bigger competitions start. Hotdogs - how many can you eat in 5 minutes? Pancakes - how many can you eat in 5 minutes? Burgers - how many can you eat in 8 minutes? Whole Chickens - You have 3, can you eat them all in 12 minutes? Whole Turkey - You have an entire turkey, how much can you eat in 10 minutes? 6 Tier Chocolate Cake - Finish the whole cake to win. (Hour Time Limit) Those who have supernatural abilities are given an extra challenge to make things fair. For those who eat themselves sick there is a medical tent nearby, and of course plenty of room for a crowd of spectators. Jousting Competition - The colorful, campy and overall cheesy look of this jousting competition almost looks like a childish version of the competition. However, the prizes are real. Instead of the prize for the winning "knight" the winner of each match will be able to earn a fair sum of redbills! It's enough to cover the entry fee paid for the competition and then a couple hundred on top of that. Each participant chooses their weapon, but they all have different strange additional abilities depending on their color... Yellow - sparkles on impact Red - screams upon impact Green - slimes whatever it hits Blue - freezes what it touches for 3 seconds For this competition special abilities beyond that of a normal human are dampened by special units hidden in the ring. Disabling them would of course, wind up in the participant being disqualified.

A: Entrance

[A peculiar girl with a wing span as large as she is is just standing there at the entrance to the carnival. Just watching the people with wide eyes, longing to belong. She musters up enough courage to approach, only for that courage to run dry. She turned and attempt to run, only to smack right into another carnival goer and fall back onto the ground with a yelp.]

Ah! I-I'm sorry...

B: Games and stuff (Maybe even Haunted House)

[Myrrh was finally in after a lot of coaxing. What coaxed her? Probably you or something else. She did her best to keep her wings pulled in and folded so she isnt taking up too much space while she checks the games and snacks.

But here she is at the teacups, timidly keeping a distance as she watches the spinning ride and the laughing people.]

...is it fun...to get dizzy like that...?

[Chances are Myrrh is lurking around. Watching you. Observing. All while hiding behind something. She's a curious dragon girl and wants to make friends, but is too darn shy to do so.

Or she's just wandering around, with her wings folded. Wondering why these people aren't reacting to her rough and leathery dragon wings.]

... I assume so. Otherwise, why would they line up to do it twice?

[Dragon is startled! Myrrh didn't know someone was so close, so she hopped backwards, away with a flap of her wings for lift.

She didn't run away though. She's more embrassed by thinking aloud as she took a step back to where she was previously.]

U-um... Sorry. I didn't know you were there.

[winterblossom]

[Ai's gaze shifts briefly to Myrrh when she hops away. He also takes a step back, more as a symbolic gesture than to be effective. ]

Neither of us owns this space, so neither of us should have to apologize. [Then looks back at the spinning cups.] I don't understand. There's nothing to gain from this ride but a dizzy feeling. Is being dizzy fun?

[That's true. Myrrh remains timid, but at least she isn't leaning towards running away. Now that she has a good look at him, he looks a little like Ephraim. That keeps her feeling...confused.]

I... I really don't know. I know human children like to play like that... I think.

Human children, huh... [They aren't part of Ai's demographic, so he doesn't understand them very well.]

There are many adults there too... Childish personalities, maybe?

[Saying like it makes no sense at all.]

[A familiar voice comes from behind her.] Only one way to find out~ Want to come try it with me?

[Startled dragon is startled! Myrrh hops away with a gasp. Where did she come from?!]

M-Mavis? W-when did you get here?

[She did register that she was offered to join the ride. But...]

...Is it safe...? Because, um...

[She lifts her wings for a moment before letting them droop. If her wings catch wind, she might get pulled off the ride.]

[fairysoul]

[She smiles reassuringly.] I just arrived.

[Again, ressuringly.] As long as you keep your arms and wings inside the cup, you'll be fine. Plus, I'll be with you.

[greatprecious]

[Myrrh laces her hands together at her front and wrapped her wings around herself.]

Like this...?
Have you ridden one of these before? ...If so, I'll follow your example.

[fairysoul]

You should. I'm an expert!

[She looks at her and nods.] Yes. Just like that. We can hold hands but make sure to always keep your wings wrapped around yourself like this.

So... you wanna go? [Mavis reaches out for her hand, ready to lead her to the waiting line.]

[greatprecious]

Um... Okay.

[She opens her wings so she can give Mavis her hand. Her wings are simply big enough so she has to open them to move her arms enough.

While they wait in line, Myrrh has a idle thought...]

...Nobody is reacting to my wings. It's almost as if I'm...human.

[-And doof! In the spell of seeing all the lights and making her dizzy, someone bonks into her, making Hana fall back too.

Hana squeaked and held her head, before immediately hopping up] Oh-no, no, it's okay, are you okay? You look scared and..

[.Wait. That smell. Those wings. Hana widened her gaze and gasped quietly] ... Are..you wings okay..?

[When Myrrh got back to her feet, she looked at Hana curiously before turning her attention to herself, stretching her large wings up and relaxing.]

...Yes, I'm not hurt.

[Myrrh is focused on the other now. She gently holds her hands together timidly, awaiting for whatever is coming next.]

[Hana has never realized she could have her wings fully out like that. Sure she can alter her shape and appearance at will naturally as a Drconic but she's still a beginner and struggles.

Regardless, she held her hand back and walked around Myrrh to analyze her] Okay, good good~ Aaah..I'm sorry, how did you get your wings out like that? Whenever I try, my appearance just alters all the way.

..Erm. Also my name is Hana~ Your's?

M-My wings?

[Reactive wing bat.]

I am a Manakete. I look like this because I store my power in my Dragonstone...

[Could Hana be a Manakete as well?]

Oh, and my name is Myrrh.

[Hana loved that name..which is fair because that sounded more like a dragon name]

What's a Manakete..an Dragonstone..? Ah-wait, wait..let me try..

[Taking a deep breathe, she focused, and with her darkness, one of her wings manefested on the right side. Opening one eye, Hana gasped] Ooh..yes! I did it! Wow that was kind of hard though, phew..

[That looks silly, but Myrrh is happy for her.]

Good job~
Oh, um. Manakete are dragons who can assume human appearances...

[Myrrh brings out a leather satchel and pulls from it, a slight glowing blue stone.]


This is my Dragonstone. It's very important to me. Do you have one? All manakete have one.

Roland is just a bit too slow to catch the girl, not expecting her to bump into him like that. At least he doesn't seem angry about the whole thing; her wings do catch his eye, but he only stares for a few seconds before remembering his manners; humans and humanoids with unusual features like that don't surprise him much anymore.

"It's okay! No harm done." He leans down, holding out a hand to help her up. "Are you hurt?"

[greatprecious]

[Myrrh didn't answer at first. Pure shyness. She did accept his help however, and momentarily considered herself.

Once she was certain, she timidly held her hands together.]

...I'm fine, thank you.

[Pure, unfiltered introversion. She has no idea what to say next.]

[theyseemeroland]

"That's good to hear."

He crouches down again to bring himself closer to her level, vertically speaking.

"I'm Roland, by the way. What's your name?" He sneaks a glance around, looking for any adults that might resemble her -- possible parents, in other words.

[greatprecious]

[She took a step back when he made sudden moves, however unsudden they were. But she came back when the man settled in a crouch.]

My name is Myrrh...

[What was he looking for? Threats? She glanced around as well, careful as to not make any turns too wide that she hits anyone with her wings.

But no one else was around with wings like hers. Myrrh is clearly alone.]

"That's a pretty name." Roland keeps up a friendly smile, trying to encourage the girl out of her shell.

"Are you here by yourself, Myrrh?" That's what he wanted to ask right away, but he didn't want to spring a question like that on her first thing.

[greatprecious]

[That is a bit of a loaded question. She could lie and say no, but she fancies herself an adult who can take care of herself.

So Myrrh nods in response, confirming that she is alone. Aside from the hundreds of people here, of course.]
