Has anyone ever given up a memory of someone special and have them turn up later on? I found that happened to me recently and now I feel awful about it.

I feel like I hurt them so much by not being able to recognize them, yet can remember everything we did together. Because of this I don't know what to do. So I was wondering if anyone ever had such a thing happen how do you handle it?

Can things still be the same or will it forever be different?

I've lost my memories before and I do know what it's like though I regained them over time. I don't have many people important to me though so I don't know.

How did you lose your memory? Maybe we can get it back?

As to how... it's a long story. I tried to help with something and it... ended badly.

Yes but these were memories that were lost and not missed. I've had someone tamper with my memories before.

Considering I didn't have much of a choice but to give up something important to come back, I still have some right to whine.

[ Someone's finally figured this function out. Seeing the post from Yuugi just breaks her heart though, and she has a feeling that it has to do with the person who'd been asking for him recently to boot.

She does respond, sighing a bit as she does. ]

I am afraid I have no answer for this, having not run into the situation before. I cannot say if it will be the same or different either, as a result.

Even so, is building new memories with them really a lost cause? If this is about who I think it is, he seems far too attached to give up on you so easily, even if it does hurt.

I have. The first thing he did when he put up a video was ask about you. It seems like you have some really good friends out there, Yugi.

Yugi...[Bakura is unsure how to approach this. It's obviously something painful for his friend to be dealing with. He's pretty sure who the 'who' Yugi is referring to has to be. Since it would seem the spirit of the puzzle is here somehow.]

I've never given up a memory of my own accord. To be honest, the idea frightens me after the blackouts I used to have. I've only ever had memories blocked for me. Some of them still are. [Whether he WANTS them back, he's not sure. But this is not the same thing. He knows that.]

It probably won't be exactly the same, but just because it's different doesn't mean it will be bad. New memories can be made. But that connection is still there whether you remember or not. Forgotten doesn't mean gone. I think your friendship is still there, memories or no memories.

[Yugi for the moment will switch to a video feed for the time being. After all they were a friend and he felt at least a bit comfortable showing his face. But it was clear Yugi wasn't as happy as he usually was.]

I know new memories can be made... I just had a wondering for how the bond would change, if it does or at least... To maybe find someone who understands. But it seems I've been the only one whose done such a thing.

[Bakura's expression is kind.] I imagine even if there is someone like that, you will still have to find out for yourself. Their reasons could also be very different than your own. Your bond with your other self is...well, it's pretty unique. Maybe it was painful to remember someone that you thought you'd never see again.

[Bakura can certainly relate to that. Still, this memory thing has got him thinking.] I didn't know that giving up memories was an option here. Is it some kind of price that comes with living here?

[He's still learning how this place works. He seems pensive and a bit worried.] I wonder if memories can be regained here too.

[He bookmarks that for later. Right now Yugi needs reassurance.] You two will figure it out. In the short time I've known you I've seen what you can do together. You saved me when I thought I couldn't be saved, after all.

[ Atem lets his voice trail off for a long moment. Yes, it did hurt by not having Yugi remember him per se, but it's just one more obstacle that they need to overcome. That's pretty much been the story of their lives ever since Yugi solved the puzzle. ]

Do not worry about it, Aibou. We'll just create new memories. That's what we did for me, after all.

[He nodded slightly. That was what they did, but back then they didn't have much of a bond until events happened. Here it was different in a sense and that was something he couldn't shake.]

That is what I did and... So long as nothing happens right now it should be easier to do so. I even know of a fun little place in Nova City we could go to later if you want.

[But he knew something would happen sooner or later. But he figured he should at least try his hardest.]

But right now, I should ask how you are settling in Genessia?

Just because one had it before themselves doesn't mean they could tolerate it from others.

We have all endured worse than this.

You shouldn't feel awful about it, Yugi! You can make new memories, and I'm sure that person will completely understand. I've never had anything like that happen to me personally, but honestly? Things can still be the same. You just need to get to know one another again, you know? Stay positive, Yugi. You'll see, it'll be just fine!
