Weapons experts.
Kind of without a weapon right now and not even sure if I should get it out of the stupid rock.
[His poor family heirloom. Even if it's probably safer in there than in his hands.]
I'm looking to build my own. It's a tradition where I'm from. I'm also wondering what made you choose yours? If it works for you, there must be a reason.
[Maybe not one of the more hopeful reasons he would have believed in the past. He's done with that. But one that makes sense.]
Stay on topic.

My answer is yes.

Learning to parry with them, using both hands to give increased strength, block fatal blows, use them to counterbalance should you lose footing. It can be reliable in ways one would not think with enough practiced skill behind it.

[He remembers using it one-handed for the most part in his battles. That might be partially why he didn't think about it much before.]

I would agree that having more than one with you would be wise, to give yourself more options. If you would use a sword mostly, having a knife or bow and arrows would give you more options at least.

What about a bow that shoots knives.

I have no idea just how you would make that work, but if you could manage it it might be interesting.

[He doesn't find it interesting. Not enough to try and pull it off.]

[He won't ask any of the people he'd actually trust to help him with that after everything they've been through. He wishes he knew. Using a longsword doesn't feel the same anymore, and he doesn't think it's just because it was a cheap practice sword.
He knows he's doing to a terrible job of being helpful in this conversation. But it's just something he's recently accepted and chosen to do, and on top of that he's still struggling with everything else.]

[He should probably say something like a thank you or whatever. But he doesn't even know who this anon is and it seems pointless to.]
