Kind of without a weapon right now and not even sure if I should get it out of the stupid rock.

I'm looking to build my own. It's a tradition where I'm from. I'm also wondering what made you choose yours? If it works for you, there must be a reason.

I actually don't have one particular weapon, but I figure mine out by simply looking at my strengths and abilities.

So for the most part due to my abilities, I'm always better at using long range weapons. So you just need to figure out what you are capable off and work it out from there.

Kind of wanted it to double as a sniper rifle but I'd probably just shoot myself by accident.

I won mine in a poker game. I like to think it's lucky. Don't use it as an actual weapon much but butterfly knives are so underrated as one. Fits in the pocket, useful for non-violent things like letter opening, and it's aesthetically pleasing. Takes some getting use to with the hands though.

[Blaine had been someone he looked up to. Everything was different now and his hero-worshipping days were probably over, but he had read the newspaper. He couldn't talk to him face to face, but he figured he was someone he was capable of talking to through text.]

I don't think that would work as my main weapon, but having a second weapon would be useful.

I've used more weapons than I can count.

Stick with what you're comfortable with. If it doesn't feel right even a little, don't try to use it. You'll get hurt. It doesn't matter if you made it. Try again.

I don't know.

[Nothing feels right anymore. What used to feel familiar to him is now something he struggles with. He tried using a cheap practice longsword he bought after speaking to Weiss, just to re-adjust himself to it, but when he tried, his body wouldn't cooperate. Nothing would come to him. His own mind fought against him.

He was only doing this so he could try to protect Weiss. Not as a hero, but as a friend trying not to let events repeat themselves. But he doesn't even know if he'll be able to keep fighting anymore.]

But I don't have time to keep trying. So are you comfortable with more weapons than you can count?

[Sorry Namur, but some of that hits so close to home that Jaune can't think of a way to reply with a civil response. His first reaction lately has been to react out of anger. But it just seems so pointless to do so over the network to someone who probably just got here.

[ She's so tired. Anonymous is a lot easier to talk to than a lot of people she knows, and even if she can't physically do anything to do with weapon creation at the moment she can still offer advice. ]

I prefer use of a longsword, one that I can use one-handed but can also put more force behind it with two. I like it for its ability to adapt and change use depending on your situation. They can be difficult to perfect, but once you have a reliable blade there is not much in the world that can stop it.

I've never been one for restricting myself to a specific weapon as my 'one and only' or something.

Being able to handle a variety of weapons means you'll never find yourself without one at hand. Once you grasped the main ways they work, mostly everything can work to save your life intuitively.

Guns and knives are my favourites because they're fast and precise. Knives can be short and long distance too, though long is always safer in my world.

It was a gift from my dear grandsire.

[ It's not like Alisaie to answer to questions of this nature but she can't help herself when it comes to something like that. The thrall that had taken over her grandfather had said it had been a waste to bestow the two grimoires to her brother and herself.

Alisaie simply wondered if there was truth to that statement made in the moment. Perhaps this person could help her sort through that.

[Jaune can't help himself. He shot down the answer of one of the few people he still thinks of as a friend, simply as an attempt to distance himself from his own idealism. Sun hadn't deserved that, but he wasn't exactly feeling compassionate or helpful right now.

Dave had been a distraction. It was the closest he could get to be entertained that didn't involve going out to get magical scientific color changing drinks, and his banter had been safe because it had been so unique.

It was much safer to focus on the practical aspects of the weapon, than the emotional or symbolic sides. He's always been emotional and now he wants nothing more than to do the opposite.]

Oh, and there's the phaser from Nova City. That one's simply useful to the extreme. Tricky to get licensed for, however.

Irony is a wonderful reason. My first weapon was designed to kill the very things I now pledge to defend with my life. And I take immense satisfaction in this.

She was careful to leave her words vague.

The weapons I use now use near-perfect copies of that original weapon that function identically to it. The original I keep mounted on my wall.

[Jaune stops in his tracks and sucks in a sharp breath. He had seen Blake but it wasn't any easier. He knows he should say something to Pyrrha, but the thought of facing others who had seen that...seen what had happened and what he said, it was overwhelming. He never felt more like a stranger. It wasn't necessarily better with Blaine or Blake but he didn't feel like he had to force himself around them. Pyrrha was trying to help. When he looked at her, not wearing his usual outfit or armor but a dirty hooded sweatshirt to conceal his face and jeans, he just looked afraid and detached.]

Pyrrha. [Talking was its own battle.] I don't know. [Why now?]

Maybe you should think of how you like to fight, first? Distance or close-combat come first. Then brawling, edged or blunt weapons, firearms, mechanics, drugs or gasses, elements...

Whatever is most practical.

[It feels wrong, focusing on practicality vs. what seems cool. Most huntress and huntsman's weapons were impressive, but not practical. But there's not a lot that isn't wrong about this situation.]

But I should probably start narrowing it down.
