Weapons experts.

Kind of without a weapon right now and not even sure if I should get it out of the stupid rock.

I'm looking to build my own. It's a tradition where I'm from. I'm also wondering what made you choose yours? If it works for you, there must be a reason.

[Maybe not one of the more hopeful reasons he would have believed in the past. He's done with that. But one that makes sense.]

Blunt weaponry aside, I get plenty of mileage out of spiked gauntlets. A little much for humans, but just fine for the things you see in Everglade.

Throwing blades too. At least a dozen. Lets me engage or disarm from a distance without relying on a gun.

And one free slot for whatever I think I'll need. Like a compound bow for stealth, or a sword for all-out war.

Are knives more reliable than a gun? You still have to retrieve them. Maybe if you combined some of these somehow.

Knives are quiet, never jam, and don't use ammunition. We'll still be using them thousands of years from now, I'm sure.

That'd be useful, but I don't always mean to get them back. Some of my blades are explosive. Other times, I just like to sign my work. It's no big deal for me.

I take it you have an appreciation for the classics?

[He doesn't particularly care about signing his work. But if it gets the job done it's worth looking into.]

I'd rather not have to replace weapons too much. I don't exactly have infinite resources. But having enough knives on hand sounds like a good idea.

You'll want them in a vest or a bandoleer for easy access. A dozen should be right, depending on the kind of knife. And if you wear long sleeves, it won't hurt to have one or two hiding there for emergencies.

[He isn't sure what he thinks. But it's a direction to go in, and he won't be so preoccupied with building anything, or having to study beforehand, that he'll actually be able to practice fighting before he takes the job.

It's rational. It's something with the potential to be tangible that he can look at and see how it would work in battle. It doesn't make him strong, powerful, or any kind of great warrior. It just means he'll be less likely to be caught helpless. That's all he asks for right now.]

Old school looks like the best choice right now.
