[Another day, another adventure. While Spock isn’t thrilled to find that he’s the target this go around, it’s certainly not surprising; statistically, with how things go on the Enterprise, he was overdue for something akin to this to happen.

He watches the video dutifully and thoroughly reads through all of the provided paper pamphlets (arguably the most alarming thing about this planet), frowning all the while, before he broadcasts a video on the primitive device while he begins to leave the Bay.]

Greetings, I am Commander Spock of the U.S.S. Enterprise. If I have been taken, then I believe that there must be at least one other member of the Enterprise here, a Captain James Kirk ~~[because Kirk’s luck has always been worse that way]~~. If you have any information on the whereabouts of my captain, please let me know.

I am also interested in learning more about the technology available to us [he hopes it gets better than a god damn smart phone] and what it is that is preventing us from simply contacting our ships and getting transported back. As the Enterprise’s science officer I believe that I may be able to offer some assistance on the matter.

[McCoy's once-over of his room lead him to agree with Spock, when he spoke, but he couldn't have that.]

I don't know - I'd like something with a porch. [True as it was, he wasn't being serious.] But we shouldn't be here long.

That may be, but we do not know how long we will be here. Miss Schnee mentioned alternative housing; perhaps you can find a home with a porch elsewhere.

[He stares at the doctor for a moment before curiosity gets the best of him.]

May I inquire as to why you desire a porch?

[McCoy rose an eyebrow, the corner of his mouth curling in something like disbelief.]

To sit on.

[To those that could read him, Spock's face is practically resonating "are you fucking serious right now."]

I am in fact aware of the purpose of a porch, doctor. We did have them on Vulcan. I was referring to why a porch specifically.

[It had been a joke, really, but the barely there expression on Spock's face was reason enough to not wave the whole thing away with that. Besides, it wasn't like it was rocket science.]

Then you must not've actually used them if you don't get it. You sit and look out at the world. Feel the wind and the sun and have a damn moment's peace. Oh, but I forgot - you're allergic to that.

What's it matter to you if I want a porch anyway?

On the contrary, doctor, I am likely more often at peace than you are. [If his usual temperament is anything to go by.] A peaceful state of mind can be easily obtained via meditation in any location; a porch is unnecessary. [Meditation would probably benefit the doctor greatly.]

I was merely curious as you what it was about a porch that you were attracted to. I will make a mental note to include a porch in our list of requirements for future living accommodations.

It's not about meditation. [But McCoy let the subject drop past that, in mind of everything else that he had just said.]

Our list? [He seemed more confused than annoyed right now but he didn't let it last very long.] You're typically supposed to ask a guy before deciding you'll be moving in together.

[ Spock doesn't even bristle at McCoy's behavior, though there was no need for him to be so upset about it. ]

It is the logical course of action. We must find a new residence within 30 days. It would be more cost effective for use to live together. Splitting up would be less wise until we discover more about this planet; we should maintain a close proximity.

I assure you, however, that the arrangement is less than ideal for me as well.

[ Okay, maybe he bristled a little. ]

Anyone ever told you that you've got to work on your lines, Spock?

[McCoy's tone was sarcastic, and turned just slightly mocking.]

'Oh, move in with me - but I don't want you to.' [He shakes his head.] One of these day's you're really going to have to figure out what a joke is. We should probably get going if you're done planning our new house.

[Well that's embarassing.] Apologies, Doctor. I had assumed by your tone that you were against the notion and did not realize that you were speaking in jest.

I was planning to look into pre-existing living quarters, though if you would prefer it I would be amenable to creating the blueprints of a house that would fit both of our needs.

I don't know about you but I'm not ready to give up and put down roots just yet. We've got these places for a month, here's to hoping we're out by then.

But here - how about this. If we're still here in a week we can start househunting. Since you're so excited about it.
