2017 Winter Holiday Party!
WHO: OPEN TO ALL!
WHAT: Holiday party! Date auction! Shenanigans.
WHEN: December 15th, 2017 - Evening
WHERE: Fairy Tale HQ - Fayren
NOTES: The auction and the kissing contest are time sensitive! Bids close and the last kiss will be accepted on Friday, December 22nd, at midnight PST!
Fayren didn't have electricity, but it had something even better.
MAGIC!
There were twinkling colored lights that burned, flickered, and floated in an ethereal way, enchanting the building in a way that fluorescent lights never could. Branches of evergreen were hung here and there to give the air a fresh pine scent. There were also pinecones doused with cinnamon and nutmeg near the doorways.
Except near the kitchens, because the food smells were more than enough to entice the senses. There were mini-sausages swimming in a thick and spicy sauce, sweet and tangy meatballs on toothpicks, vegetables and dip, bite-sized cream puffs, iced sugar cookies, cheese and crackers, mulled cider, and eggnog in alcoholic and non-alcoholic varieties.
The main room, expansive as it was, had plenty of room for music, dancing, and mingling. There were some tables and several chairs set up, and a small stage where musicians were welcome to perform to their heart's content. To the side was an even smaller stage where a sprig of mistletoe was suspended on a loop of scarlet ribbon, with a sign that reads: "Test Your Passion! Win This Arcade Game!" And next to that was a full-sized arcade game version of Alley Brawlers. Might be worth checking out!
But there were more games than that, and more than a few maps set up on easels of the headquarters and where to go to play certain games. A single lane bowling alley (with manual set-up of the pins), a "fishing" booth where people toss a clothespin on a fishing line over a curtain to have a little prize attached by someone hidden on the other side, a ring toss for cans of soda, a cake walk (with full-sized cakes for the winners and cupcakes for the losers), ornament decorating, pin-the-tail-on-the-unicorn, face painting, a pool of rubber ducks with numbers corresponding to prizes on the bottom, goldfish scooping... Almost anything one would find at a carnival was sure to be found here.
As for the auction? Step right up, right past the gauzy white curtains into a big room lit with twinkling golden lights. Anyone was welcome to come in, but if someone wanted to participate as a bidder, they'd have to make a donation at the door. In return, each donor would receive a packet of 100 red tickets with the same number assigned to the bidder name: one roll of tickets with 101 for the first donor, a roll of tickets with 102 for the second donor, and so on.
Cookies and punch were available in this room, with several tables and chairs set up before a large stage with a microphone. Along the wall was a line of clear plastic boxes, with slots on top, set in front of each auction date's face. A card that indicated the name of each person, their age, and a brief description of what they were all about was pasted onto the front of the boxes. People were welcome to look at the line-up if they wanted, or even use some of their tickets prematurely if they wanted, as they were clearly for a drawing. Until the auction starts, soft piano music plays from a stereo running on batteries.

Soma Cruz - BOX

And probably cute. He may not be great at recognizing it, but he's a natural romantic.]Re: Soma Cruz - BOX

[Look, she's really curious about that coat. Is it really possible to get lost in one of those? His description said 'literally' so now she has to find out. Besides, it doesn't have to be a DATE-date. He looks like he doesn't really want to be there, so she'll just treat him to some cake and they can get to know each other. It'll be fun!]

After the bids
[...Now what?]
[Realizing that she has no idea what she's supposed to do, she awkwardly shuffles off to the side to meet Soma when he comes down. Minako just announced her name, and she knows his, so she guesses introductions aren't really necessary.]
Er...have you been to one of these before? I'm not sure if I'm supposed to do the planning or you are. Or if we do it together?
[Her smile is sheepish.]
I'm actually pretty new at this!
no subject
[Annoyance gives way to embarrassment at that admission. He blushes and looks to the side, rubbing at the back of his neck.]
Mina and I often went on long walks in the forest, or went shopping together. More recently, we visited her grandfather's shrine more often than not.
no subject
[It sounds like he has a girlfriend, too. Now she just feels kind of guilty for getting all excited about this.]
It's okay, we don't have to actually go on a date. I was just happy that I won, so I got plenty of thrills and no regrets!
no subject
[He sighs, tucks his hands in his pockets, and leans back against a convenient wall.]
Mina and I... weren't exactly a couple, though I'm certain she would say otherwise. In fact her grandfather kind of forbade me from dating her, after he found out what I am. I don't mind going through with it, if you want to give it a shot - I just have no idea how to go about it. But you need to know a few things beforehand. I'm half - maybe more than half - vampire, and I have the memories and abilities of one of the oldest, most dangerous ones from my world. I'm functionally immortal; I haven't aged a day in over two years, and I see no change to that in the near future. And it can be dangerous for normal people to be near me. Supernatural entities tend to attack me on sight.

[Orihime quiets as she listens to his warnings. Half vampire, wow... She really wouldn't have guessed. But then again, this is the first time she's ever met him, so it's not like he's been nervous about daylight or garlic in any previous scenarios she's seen. He might have the memories of a dangerous vampire, but it seems pretty obvious that he's a nice person. So she's not that worried.]
[When he gets to the last part about being dangerous, that's the point where Orihime, surprisingly, exhales a breath of relief.]
Whew! That's not a problem, then. I've been trained to fight Hollows and I can detect any strong supernatural presence. If you get attacked, I'll fight right along with you!
[She...probably doesn't look all that convincing as a fighter, with her sweet little voice and small frame. She's doing what she can, though.]
Besides, I mostly just want to go on a date to experience what it's like. I'm not going to try to fall in love, I promise! But it would be great to get to know each other, ne? I think we could be really good friends!
Sorry this took so long; my health is in a bad way
Okay. If you're sure - I just have one question. What are 'hollows'?
[Her reasons for wanting to go on a date are fine with him; he's a little curious about it, himself. And another friend certainly wouldn't hurt.]
