[Action] ~ Practicing Magic

It had taken her awhile to find the perfect place but she soon found a corner of the city where no one was around. She prefered somewhere far away from the residence of the city to practice.

She started by focusing the dark spell and casting it to hover around her. Three dark spheres of matter orbit around her as she focused. Ultima. Her focus faltered and the spheres shrink before slamming into the ground at her feet.

As the dust settles she carefully rose from the ruins. Terra managed to keep the explosion small but she knew some people would come running after seeing the plume of dust. It wasn't so bad. Only the ground was destroyed.

She brushed herself off trying to figure out what to do next.

Ooo, whatcha doing?

[ Is that a fairy Mavis making her way over? Why yes it is. Don't ask why she walks around barefoot. ]

Oh! Mavis.

[Terra brushes herself off some more trying to get the dust off her.]

I was trying to practice more.

[ Mavis gives a nod, then glances at the craters left behind. No traces of fire, ice, earth... air? No, air leaves behind wilder fragmentation. Terra said she was an elemental user, right? Probably not gravity magic then. ]

What kind of spell was it? It felt fairly powerful.

Terra nodded before looking back at the mess. "It was Ultima."

The explosion was probably not Ryuko's doing.. Probably.

But just to be certain, and since it was in earshot since she just happened to be about, Satsuki Kiryuin eventually arrives at the dust cloud. A fairly impressive one.

What she wasn't expecting, though, was a green-haired girl to be at the center of the semi-crater by herself. Did she utterly obliterate her opponent?

"Is this your doing?" Satsuki asks as she gestures to the wreckage. It goes without saying what the dust is going to do to her white, miltary-style outfit, but she either doesn't notice, or doesn't particularly care.

Terra looked at her work and then back at the girl in white. The outfit brought back some memories of the military and none of them were pleasant.

Terra's unsure what this person might want so she answers hesitantly. "Yes" She hopes she didn't do anything bad.

Honest girl. Well, that or she couldn't come up with a creative fib. It's true that Satsuki doesn't look particularly friendly, but she glances from side to side again.

"Interesting. I do not see any weapons in your hand." she replies, "I also do not see any traces of your foe. Did they somehow escape?"

Looks like your studying hard.

[Fai had just been randomly walking around when he noticed what was going on and while he didn't do magic currently for reasons, he couldn't help but be curious about others.]

[Terra turns and her expression softens at the sight of the blond haired man.]

Yes. I didn't disturb you did I?

[behindthefakesmile]

[He laughs slightly, shaking his head. He's never been asked that before. At least since his travels anyway.]

No, not at all. I was just taking a stroll. [He makes his way over before kneeling down to look at the damage to the floor.]

What kind of spell was that exactly. I don't think I've come across it before?

[Yuna looked up, from hearing that rather small explosion and had started to make her way towards where it had come from, following the plume of dust she eventually reached her destination she was surprised to see a young lady there and the floor in front of her being damaged.]

Excuse me, but do you know what happened here?

[greenmagick]

[Terra looks up at the brown hair girl approaching her. She hadn't meant to cause the explosion.]

I was practicing magic.

You do magic? You mean like a Black or White Mage?

[She had some idea of those names at least as she had spheres with those classes.]

[Kefka was - of course - watching from his place upside down above her.]

Still struggling with it I see. Hmm...

[He taps his chin for a moment before righting himself and floating down to her level.]

You've managed to conjure the energy well enough, but I don't think you have the pressure high enough yet.

[He extends a hand, palm up, a ball of blue energy forming over the palm and shrinking down until it rests neatly on his fingertip.]

You see, the tighter the energy is compressed...

[He flicks his wrist, sending the ball floating up a ways at a rather lazy pace before causing a large cascading explosion overhead.]

...the more devastating the explosion~! Try it again, but this time, focus more on compression than simply focusing on the energy itself.

Right.

[Terra nods and gets back to focusing. She calls forth the spheres again focusing now on their compression. Her energy levels were the easiest to maintain so she let that steadily rise as she put pressure on the orbs floating around her.

It's hard for her to stay focused on so many things at once. She holds the spell for as long as she could before sending it to the sky to release. The results are better than last time but no perfect.]

Much better~! At this rate you'll be able to flatten that Returners base in no time~!

How are you doing with infiltrating their ranks, anyway?

"My goodness, girl! You should be more careful with such a destructive spell!" Merlin calls out as the dust settles, stumbling and tripping over loose bits of rock as he closes the distance between the two.

"You've got quite the talent with magic, but it needs focus!" He says after coming close enough to the girl that he needs no longer shout. In the interim, his hat has been knocked to the side, so he takes a moment to put it back on properly. "Where did you learn to do that, anyway?"

Terra takes a few steps back stunned. She isn't used to people shouting at her.

"My teacher taught me... I'm sorry... I was trying to practice..."

He looks upset.

It's at this point Merlin realizes he's a bit too loud and noisy for such a meek girl. "Well... Best that you're practicing such a spell away from other people. But what are you doing with such destructive magic, my girl? Surely a lesser spell would be more than enough to defend yourself from the average ruffian!"

At least from what he was able to observe, it looks as though she had condensed energy of some description, and it didn't appear to have any elemental basis. "Merlin's my name. I happen to do a bit of teaching myself." He explains, offering his hand and a smile in polite greeting.

Given the explosion, Ryu's inclined to believe there's a fight going on. Being his good nature and all, he draws his sword and rushes into the settling dust. It's not until he finds Terra that he stops to figure out what happened.

"Hey, are you okay? Where's the monster?!" He asks, glancing around the immediate area.

Terra watches the boy as he approaches. He looks caring and young which pulled at Terra's heart.

"There wasn't a monster." Her voice is soft and gentle as she talks. "I was practicing. I'm sorry if I worried you."

"Oh." Well now he looks significantly less worried, sheathing his sword. "Nah, it's fine. Nobody was hurt, so no harm right? I'm Ryu, what's your name? I've never seen magic like that before! How did you learn it?" He asks, seeming perhaps a bit too eager while offering his hand to her.

How interesting! Virgo was observing from the relative safety of several yards underground until the traces of magic dissipated. Only then did she make her move. And perhaps there was no warning before a petite pink-haired maid popped up from underground and stood with a curious tilt of her head.

"Are you an elemental mage, miss?" Virgo looked the young woman over closely and then straightened. This one was... different. "Please forgive my interruption."

Terra almost jumped out of her skin in surprise. She hadn't expected the visitor.

"Umm... Yes."

[virgochains]

Virgo smiled ever so slightly and bowed with all due respect. This one was at least half human mage. "I am the Celestial Spirit Virgo, a pleasure to meet you. Though I do request that you refrain from attacking me in a similar manner."

A glance downwards was perhaps all the implication she needed at the moment. And there was a Virgo-sized hole just behind her feet. There was also no indication that it was only a foot or two deep since she'd come several hundred feet up.
