Christmas Eve Party!

WHO: Anyone willing to behave themselves for a nice Christmas party!
WHAT: Weiss's Housewarming/Christmas Eve Party
WHEN: Christmas Eve
WHERE: Team RWBY's new house
WARNINGS: Mistletoe is hung in one of the corners! Avoid it if you don't wanna get smooched! (But seriously if anyone has anything here that needs a warning please tell me.)

It's Christmas Eve and it's cold outside! Perhaps you should come in, enjoy some refreshments, chat, sing a song at the karaoke station, or open up your Secret Santa gifts? There's plenty of room to wander around and plenty of fun to be had! While furniture doesn't seem to be overly plentiful, there's a coat closet near the entrance and plenty of room for party guests in the family room, kitchen (where the food is!) and breakfast nook, and the outside deck. There are Christmasy pine garlands with signs that say "Guests are asked to remain in the party area! Thank you!" cutting off rooms beyond those and classy decorations adorning the designated party area (plus doilies at the dining table). At the center of the family room is a well-lit Christmas tree.

Naturally, if you have another location that you would like to direct your thread, you're welcome to make a thread of your own-- but if it's in an area that's off limits, unless your character is accompanied by one of Team RWBY (or are going to the restroom- which hopefully there won't be any threads for that) your character will get told to go back to the party if your character is caught! If they get caught more than once, they may be asked to leave. :( We don't want that!

The party evening will round out with Weiss and Blake singing a duet of "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" for everyone, so please have a Merry Christmas! (And happy all holidays!)

I was going to say you could just tell me so I'm not tempted and I don't have to fish it out of someone I barely know. Besides, I could make you talk really easily.

[ Weiss actually has a blush on her cheeks now. ]

There's a huge window with a cushioned seat in front of it so you're going to have to watch your step.

[ As much as she would find it amusing if he tried to flip in there and the ground was a little closer than he was expecting.. ]

I always watch my step.

[ even if his bender's grace is sometimes foiled by his inability to function like a normal person. ]

Only in the literal sense.

[ which was what was important in this case but still. ]

Are you having fun? Secret Santa aside.

I don't do fun. You know that.

[ but the lighthearted way in which he says that indicates that he's not completely miserable. ]

Oh, right. I wouldn't want to ruin your image you've worked so hard to uphold.

[ -Speaking of. Heh. ] I got you presents. Do you want me to go get them?

Don't be a Tyrant.

[ ...oh, right. gifts. ]

You get mine and I'll get yours.

Okay. Grab a spot on the couch if you get there first. I'll be right back.

[ Weiss is going up to her room real fast to get his presents. ]

[ while she's retrieving his gifts, zuko goes to get his from under the tree. he didn't necessarily know about the custom of putting presents under the christmas tree before he showed up, he just followed the lead of the people who got there before him. his presents are wrapped neatly without the need for tape holding it in place, a card carefully tucked into a fold of each parcel, 施內韋斯 brushed onto it with a heavy black ink. it was the best he could make of her name within the restrictions of his own language. (aka his mun doesn't know chinese and we're going to pretend for rp's sake that google translate is at least semi accurate with this...)

he sits down on the couch to wait for her, setting the presents on the cofee table. ]

[ Weiss, on the other hand, had to run up to her room really fast. There were two of Zuko's gifts meticulously wrapped with tape, and ribbon, and bows in perfectly square boxes that looked like they were done professionally. They weren't, but Weiss was detailed enough in her endeavors not to give up until they were perfect. The third was a smaller box that she didn't want to put under the tree, just in case, since while she knew that Zuko would be careful with them she had no idea if some of the guests she wasn't as familiar with were going to be horrible party crashing people who kicked presents or who knows what.

So Zuko did get to the couch before her as she got her present for him, then went to the tree to pick up the other two. All three had a little card tucked into the ribbons that listed his name. She knows he wouldn't know what it said probably, but if it was there at least no one else would take it and he might learn what his name looks like in her writing. Weiss sets the presents for him on the coffee table next to hers, the smallest one with the pendants on top, then sits right up against him on the couch. ]

You first or me first?

You.

[ he held out the longest box to her, wanting her to open the roses first so she could get them into water. ]

Alright.

[ Weiss was very particular about how she got the box open, making sure to find every place that Zuko folded it instead of tearing anything. It probably takes a little longer, but she smiles brightly when she sees the roses. Leave it to Zuko to find something that incredibly unique and still Christmasy. He's definitely getting a light, lingering kiss before she draws back and starts getting out of her seat again. ]

Let me go find something to put these in, I'll be right back. They're beautiful, Zuko.

[ for someone who didn't necessarily care about this holiday that held little meaning or significance for him, he was awfully meticulous about picking out his gifts. he grinned, proud of himself for going out of his way to pick find something that she was unlikely to receive from others. ]

I'm glad you like them.

[ he waited, patiently sitting on the couch and watching her spot to ensure nobody tried to steal it and sit down beside him while she saw to the roses. ]

[ Once she gets back, the roses now visible on the kitchen counter (she'll take them up to her room later, but she wanted to get back to Zuko quickly). ]

I'm glad you didn't get plain red, too. I mean, they're beautiful as they are, but somehow they'd probably end up in Ruby's cape if they were red. I'm still not sure where those rose petals come from.

[ Okay, Weiss was reaching for one of Zuko's presents now that she's back snuggled against his side. She holds out the one with the turtleducks first. Might as well built up to the nicer ones and start with the sillier ones. It was probably stupid of her to get him something like that, but she still thought he'd appreciate a little reminder of home. He'd said they were his favorite animal to her too.. ]

If they're completely wrong, don't laugh at me.

Her cape?

[ zuko's brow furrowed. he didn't understand what she was talking about, but doesn't question it any more than that.

he unwrapped his gift just as carefully as she did hers, careful to get the tape off the wrapping without actually tearing it. once the box was fully unwrapped, he opened it and his good eye went wide as he went still.

turtleducks. she got him a family of turtleducks. a mother and two turtleducklings like the ones he used to feed at the palace with his own mother. while the reminder of ursa wasn't particularly welcome, the thought and effort she put into the gift was enough to ignore how conflicted thinking of his mom made him feel. he battened down those hatches and pushed memories of her aside. ]

They look fine. They look like they're supposed to look. [ he turned to her. ] Where did you find these?

It'll make sense when you meet her.. wherever she is.

[ Weiss watched him for a moment. The stillness was a little disconcerting for a moment, giving Weiss one of those very few moments of uncertainty in herself she had, but he started talking to her and she relaxed. ]

I hired someone to make them. I told them everything you told me about them and to fill in the rest with what plain ducks and turtles were like.

You didn't have to do this.

[ his voice was small, sounding too much like the little boy who didn't have a glaring scar on his face for his comfort. but he's touched beyond words' ability to convey. ]

You should, um, open one of yours. [ he nodded towards the other gift, containing both the necklace and the herbal iced teas. ]

I know I didn't have to. I wanted to, though.

[ Weiss is starting to think she should've saved that one for last, but she's really happy with how she's pretty sure that Zuko's enjoying it.

Weiss leaned forward again, taking the gift that Zuko indicated as well as the box containing the flowering teas she got for him, handing that one to him before going to open her gift. Weiss smiles again, laughing a little at the iced teas. ]

It must've killed you to buy these.

[ As for the necklace... she's going to hold it and look at it, but she'll wait until Zuko's lap is cleared. She wants him to put it on her after all. And she is definitely going to wear it every day. ]

[ he gave her a sour look. ] You have no idea. But you like them, so... [ shrug. he pushed through his distaste for cold tea for her. just like he pushed through his distaste for neptune in order to get him something for his secret santa.

cluing in to what she wants, zuko set the box aside and twisted, motioning for her to scoot back so he could help her. ]

[ She knew it was probably hard on him with things like that, having to deal with Weiss's personality. She liked cold things, winter was her favorite season, her favorite dessert was frozen, and ice was her go-to Dust of choice. Even her favorite colors were white and baby blue. That he put up with that just the same was flattering.

Weiss moved almost immediately when she saw him twisting, pleased with the fact that he knew what she wanted without her even having to ask. Reaching back, she pulled her ponytail to the front so that he could easily get to the back of her neck without tangling the clasp... Even if her hair was up so perfectly that there probably wasn't a chance of that happening anyway. ]

Thank you. I'm going to wear this all the time.
