Christmas Eve Party!

WHO: Anyone willing to behave themselves for a nice Christmas party!
WHAT: Weiss's Housewarming/Christmas Eve Party
WHEN: Christmas Eve
WHERE: Team RWBY's new house
WARNINGS: Mistletoe is hung in one of the corners! Avoid it if you don't wanna get smooched! (But seriously if anyone has anything here that needs a warning please tell me.)



It's Christmas Eve and it's cold outside! Perhaps you should come in, enjoy some refreshments, chat, sing a song at the karaoke station, or open up your Secret Santa gifts? There's plenty of room to wander around and plenty of fun to be had! While furniture doesn't seem to be overly plentiful, there's a coat closet near the entrance and plenty of room for party guests in the family room, kitchen (where the food is!) and breakfast nook, and the outside deck. There are Christmasy pine garlands with signs that say "Guests are asked to remain in the party area! Thank you!" cutting off rooms beyond those and classy decorations adorning the designated party area (plus doilies at the dining table). At the center of the family room is a well-lit Christmas tree.

Naturally, if you have another location that you would like to direct your thread, you're welcome to make a thread of your own-- but if it's in an area that's off limits, unless your character is accompanied by one of Team RWBY (or are going to the restroom- which hopefully there won't be any threads for that) your character will get told to go back to the party if your character is caught! If they get caught more than once, they may be asked to leave. :( We don't want that!

The party evening will round out with Weiss and Blake singing a duet of "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" for everyone, so please have a Merry Christmas! (And happy all holidays!)

Kitchen/Nook/Where the Food is

Just here for the snacks or got a little peckish? Check out the kitchen! There's drinks, bite-sized Christmas-themed hors d'oeuvres like miniature baked corn or tiny little cranberry sauce bowls, and the center piece-- a large Christmas goose! There are desserts too, like 1" apple, pecan, sweet potato, and pumpkin mini-pies! Help yourself!

Please be advised that while there are sparkling bottles at the tables surrounded by fluted glasses filled with the liquid, they are in fact grape or apple sparkling cider. There is no alcohol at this party and you will be asked to leave if you so much as try to add anything to the drinks.

[ If anything's looking less than full or out of order, Weiss is checking back periodically to arrange everything meticulously. Right before she starts each time, of course, she tucks her hair back into her dress's hood to make sure that there's no risk of anything getting in the food. Absolute perfection is a go!

Just.. be careful not to let her catch you doing anything that might not be sanitary. ]

There probably was really no reason to get dressed up as she did for a party she's spending most of her time in the kitchen for. But, eh, it was nice to get settled in to a bigger place for all of them but the only downside was that Sun was no longer their neighbor. Oh well, at least that would make their occasional falling asleep together more special.

Fixing up some of the platters of food, helping to keep everything clean and tidy, Blake occasionally stole a glance out to the mingling crowds for any familiar faces. The entire Christmas thing was still a curious mystery but at least it did bring a bit of warmth in the air with the seasons becoming colder.

Koschei had never attended a party or festival dedicated to an alien holiday before, but he rather liked this one. He was, after all, an adolescent and had a healthy appetite for food. Grabbing a plate, he wandered around the tables, trying to identify the various offerings.

Koschei knew his teachers would disapprove of his behavior, reminding him that the festival was a primitive one and that Koschei himself should remain aloof. Well, Koschei would take food, drinks, and music over the long-winded speeches and pompous rituals of his own world, thank you! As for being aloof, well, there was something to be said for blending in and, for now, Koschei had decided to follow the lead of the other kidnap victims who had been here longer.

[ Mercury, looking absolutely dapper, seems to be spending a lot of time lingering by the drinks. Far too long for someone just quenching their thirst. Looking far too shady to be just taking in the scenery.

But surely he couldn't be up to anything here, right? It's not like he'd risk ruining the party by trying to be that one asshole who tries to spike the drinks, right? No, there's no way he'd dare.

[Gippal didn't really know anyone at this party except Rikku. Had she not mentioned it to him before, he probably wouldn't have even come here. But now that he was here, he could see that it wasn't so bad. The food was really good too.

He spent a little of his time there, trying the little mini pie things and getting refills on his drink. He still didn't know what this Christmas thing was entirely about, but if it involved parties like this, then count him in.]

'No alcohol', what a stupid ban. Though, he must say, as an archangel, he'd agree to those terms. Humanity plus alcohol, never a good combination. Not that he'd ever air those type of comments. As far as humans are concerned, he's a janitor. If they dig even deeper, they'd learn he's a demigod. Deeper still, they'd learn he was Loki, a trickster. But none of them should ever know about the fact that he is an archangel. Not that Luci would ever be inclined to keep the secret. The bastard.

But, today was a party, and he planned on celebrating. He wanted to respect Weiss' wishes too. So today, he didn't appear in her bedroom. Instead, he was in her kitchen. And upon entering, Weiss will see lots of golden, silver and crystal-ware placed neatly around the kitchen. Upon the platters were decedent sweets and chocolates from different dimensions and time periods. Something Gabriel enjoyed. "I thought you needed more desserts. So, here I am!"

Family Room

Just want to chat with others? Have a little karaoke with the karaoke station set up near the TV? Have a seat on the sofa? Look at the beautiful Christmas tree? Take photos? Try to catch someone under the mistletoe near the fireplace? This is the place you want to go. Enjoy!

[ Free food and whatever crap she got in the Secret Santa thing was honestly Emerald's motivation for coming. Suffice it to say she wasn't much for sentimentality or the holiday season, especially not for a holiday she didn't really get. But that didn't mean she wasn't going to utilize this opportunity to try to peek around the house, get an idea of the layout (just in case), and.. get distracted by mistletoe because honestly, what is that stuff doing up there?

Is she trying to reach up to grab it since it's a little high up to avoid smacking tall people in the head? Yes, yes she is. It's not like she's trying to pull it down, just look at it. What a great party guest. Plus, being this obvious about it definitely says "I'm not stealthy" to everyone, which is a bonus image she wants to make sure people have of her. ]

[Maka went more simple with her dress, hair down for a change except for two miniature 'tails tied up with matching-colored ribbons--heck, she didn't want to look a mess going in her regular schoolgirl attire but still didn't want to go extravagant. It's just Christmas.

Unfortunately when Kid saw, he opted to pick out a matching colored shirt to wear along with his usual formal attire. Where did he even find that? Did he always have it? Well, whatever, as long as he's happy. And as long as he please please please doesn't insist on rearranging things in Team RWBY's house, that's rude and nobody cares if you're a god Kid!

--Needless to say, the glorified babysitting can be a little much for a Meister to handle solo, so she's on a sofa reading a book to decompress when one comes across her. She'll still look up and smile at passersby, though, say "hi" and "merry Christmas." It's only polite (she doesn't care if Soul says she puts too much effort into being polite) and she doesn't want to make things awkward at someone else's party.]

There were so many people wearing red here, it was almost enough to make him homesick — almost. Had he opted to wear something from his usual color scheme, he would've blended right in with the lot of them, but today, Zuko was wearing white. It was a color traditionally reserved for funerals and periods of mourning in the Fire Nation, and this party marked the first time he's worn white to a happy occasion instead of a sad one.

If not for the fact that the fire was in need of more kindling, Zuko wouldn't have placed himself so dangerously close to a plant whose significance he's thus far unaware of. But of course, instead of doing the sensible thing and retrieving more wood from outside, Zuko was keeping the fire burning strong with his bending in spite of the lone log that was left on the pyre.

Anyone lingering near might see him sending burst of fire from his own hands into the one blazing within the fire place.

Family Room

It was hard to miss Koishi. The little youkai was in a state of absolute bliss, slowly drifting through one corner the room several feet off the ground while nibbling on christmas treats. Though she was high enough to clear the heads of about half of the guests, the other half were easily alerted by the plethora of heart and rose-petal lights she was inadvertently conjuring, their floral scent mingling surprisingly nicely with the other various christmas smells.

On top of that she wasn't dressed in her usual outfit. The skirt, while still green, was heavier. Her top was white, black fur lining the ends of her sleeves. Instead of a traditional collar it dipped down into a small caplet to keep her shoulders warm. It was a matching shade of green and also lined in black fur. The stitching was even decorative and gold in places. In addition she was wearing slightly heavier boots as well as black stockings. Her hat was still the same, however, though the ribbon had been swapped with a white one and pinned with a matching rose.

All in all, she looked quite happy and warm and was enjoying herself immensely.

[Luke is feeling a little bit silly. He knew he had to dress up for the party, so instead of his usual blue sweater he's got a black vest and pants with a white shirt and a red tie--a tie which is both wrongly tied and really crooked. He gave up after five tries. In lieu of his usual blue hat is a black one similar in style. All in all, he probably looks quite a bit older than usual as he's dressed more formally, though he keeps tugging at the tie and trying to feel if he's gotten it more (or, perhaps more likely, less straight).

He's spent much of the party poking around and making idle chatter--lots of "Hello"s and "Merry Christmas"es. Currently he's sitting on a chair near the Christmas tree, admiring the decorations.]

Ah...these ornaments are very pretty.

Sun Wukong

[Sun is there very much so enjoying himself. He takes the time to make use of the Karaoke machine and sings a song, mostly because he liked the name of the band.

Outside of that, he spends a bit of time on the sofa or warming up near the fireplace because how does anyone survive winter. He swears cold is leaking into the house to get him. If he sees someone by themselves, he might go up to them to talk to them or they could come up to him!

Sun also brought the gift for his Secret Santa recipient as well as the gifts he got for team RWBY. Yang's punching bag and Blake's bigger and heavier gifts had been left at home, but everything else was brought.]

[In one of the corners of the family room was a large person. Overly large really. Gamagori had taken up a corner, and was just... watching. He was in uniform, like always, and just wearing a slight scowl on his face. It wasn't a conscious decision but rather just how his face rested after years of scowling. Do you dare approach him?]

[Gippal was necessarily trying to catch someone under the mistletoe, but it might happen by mistake. It had been explained to him a little while ago that it was some sort of tradition to kiss a person if you were both underneath it. It sounded pretty weird if you asked him, kissing someone under some leaves or whatever?

But there were probably stranger traditions out there. If he wasn't walking around, he was parked on the couch relaxing and watching everyone else enjoy themselves.]

Deck

Fresh air meets action out on the deck. There's enough room for some dancing and Christmas music of moderate volume is playing on Weiss's scroll set up to work with some speakers. There are a number of lights encircling the whole deck to light up the night while you get a breather from the inside.

You may want to grab your coat again before you head out here unless you're planning on working up a sweat with your dance moves.

[ When Weiss isn't poking around making sure everything's perfect, she finally decides to go enjoy the party herself. And the winter scenery. Winter is Weiss's favorite season, after all, and overall the party seems to be going pretty well.. enough that there's even a little smile on this crabby girl's face! Her hood isn't up on her dress while she's outside, even though it's cold, but she doesn't seem to mind as she rests her hands on the deck's little fence, looking out into the night, then back to the party before approaching the nearest person like the nice host she is. ]

Unfortunately, Beetlejuice thought he could dance. So, he was. He jerked his body around in silly and, at times, physically impossible moves. The only things that could be said for him was that he was obviously enjoying himself and that he wasn't trying to sing along. The worst part was that he would try to dance with anyone who got too close him.

Secret Santa

Those who signed up for the Secret Santa will notice a table in the foyer as they enter the house with a sign that says "Secret Santa" gifts. This is set up so that you can either exchange the gifts in person or leave it for your recipient to pick up.

To Zeref

[ Emerald leaves him a pair of wireless headphones in an oversized gift bag filled almost completely with tissue paper. It's like 90% tissue paper and 10% wireless headphones. It's not a very well thought-out present but at least it's a nice one! As long as he listens to music with a device that has bluetooth capabilities anyway... ]

To Death the Kid

[ After... a bit of research, Weiss learned two things about Kid: 1. He liked symmetry and 2. he used guns. Which made gift giving not too difficult of a thing for her since she was his Secret Santa for this little thing.

Kid will receive two crystal model guns (similar to this but as close replicas as she could get to his own without actually being able to get close to them). What better way to represent symmetry than with crystal, something symmetrical all the way down to its molecular structure? Weiss thinks she did pretty well and is just hoping that he thinks the same (even if she herself probably drives him nuts with her intentionally placement of her ponytail off to the side). ]

To Ted

Koishi really didn't have money to buy a gift, nor skills to make one, so something had to be found. Fortunately Chireiden was full of strange and wonderful artifacts from when it functioned as hell's capital. And, of course, the ancient city could always provide something interesting...

Wrapped in rather plain brown paper was a pair of somewhat drab looking moderately heavy boots edged with some sort of red metal as well as a decently sized bottle. Along with them was a handwritten note reading:

"The boots protect the user from extreme heat and can be used to cross magma and hellfire unscathed. The bottle is a fine mild sake to enjoy with friends. I hope you have a great holiday!"

To Ty Lee

[He'll be putting a very carefully wrapped box containing two artisan chocolates as well as a box of bright macarons. Don't mind him spending a minute in front of the table to make sure it's placed in a spot where it's not likely to get crushed by anyone putting something on top of it.]
