OPEN LOG; EVERGLADE, GENESSIA - do not reply until you read the ooc post

The first sign that something was going on that day hadn't been at the crack. It hadn't even been in Genessia, as a matter of fact. The first sign had been a sound not unlike a window shuddering in a heavy storm. It perforated the atmosphere within Everglade first.

Only a few moments later, Fayren would hear the same shudder echo through its forests, forcing birds to flee the cover of the trees. In the populated areas of the kingdom itself, it would be much quieter, as if it were miles away.

Then it would return to Genessia. The crack in the sky was rapidly saturated, thousands more than before forcing their whole shapeless bodies against the barrier. Some of the strange aurora-tinted color seems to press into their ranks, a few of the strange creatures being forced back, but quickly being replaced by another of its kind.

And a sickening crack could be heard in all archways near and far, but it was loudest in Everglade, where a new crack had formed. Two humongous cracks appeared in Everglade's barrier like a sinister grin as if it were laughing at the town just above the clocktower. The two cracks took only a couple of seconds more before the strange monstrous creatures burst small holes into that crack, not big enough to fit their bodies through at once.

The leaked through, dripping like poison from an apple out of that sneering mouth in the sky until the first of these creatures fell to the ground. The eager, hungry soul from before, whose abyss of a stomach had been shared with the whole of Genessia when he'd opened his misshapen jaw the first time a few days ago now looked from side to side in the streets of Everglade.

The first face he saw was that of an NPC, and he only saw it for a moment before launching himself at the man and pinning him to the ground. Some would recognize him as the grizzled owner of The Rabbit's Foot. A loud scream was put out from the man as the creature opened its jaw wide, but did not eat him. Nothing seemed to happen when his jaw was opened, as a matter of fact.

The creature closed its mouth slowly before standing upright on what seemed to be a two-legged form, though if it had arms they didn't take shape. It made a gesture as if it were cracking its neck as the man escaped quickly, locking the door to his shop behind him.

More of the creatures were piling into Everglade slowly but surely, but this one in particular caught sight of a local werewolf, someone with a pendant, a soul, and repeated his mauling, but this time- this time something happened. This time a strange, glowing mist seemed to pull out of the Everglade resident's body, a faint glimmer of aurora with it, and in a short time this person stopped screaming. They were still alive, but it didn't seem like there was anything... inside, really.

A hissing, victorious laughter left the creature and he moved on, heading toward Genessia's gate along with his oversized mouth pulled up into an eerie grin that reflected the crack in the sky. Those that had made it in through Everglade's crack followed suit.

They had to let the rest of their friends in through Genessia; it was only the polite thing to do.

[The Guardian looks between the two; her curiosity now piqued as this isn't the first time she'd been 'forgotten'. For now she'll play along and pretend they hadn't met.]

Stopping you depends entirely on your intent of what you do with the spirit, but I suspect the both of us intend to ask for assistance for both our current and future situations.[She speaks mainly to Natsu at first, then looks to Lucy.] That is an acceptable strategy. I am Satsuki Kiryuin; current Guardian of Nova City.

What we intend to 'DO' with the spirit?

[ WOW that's insulting. As if Lucy would ever harm a spirit, even if it wasn't hers. Though Lucy, did you have to react like Satsuki just offered you a tray of puppy heads? ]

We intend to speak with the spirit of course - you must know about those spirits pouring into Everglade by now. Genessia is in as much danger. [ More if Everglade's barrier falls. Still, Satsuki's agreement has Lucy relax again, regarding her partner as well. ]

Do you two want to check outside or inside the shrine first?

Nova's guardian? Shouldn't you be out lookin for your own spirits then?

[Each city had their own spirits didn't they? Well if he's said something dumb, he's sure Lucy would set him straight. The question of whether to start inside or out is a simple one though.]

I vote inside. Smaller space. If they're in there we can find em fast and if they're not we can figure out they're not, faster.

I meant no offense; I am just aware that there are several people here that are not against the idea of causing mischief even during times like these.

[She nods.]

I am also aware of the situation; at current many are being evacuated to the Feyren and Nova Cities. As for myself, the issue lies in that my knowledge of anything spiritual here is.. limited. I need to know for certain if I can lead others despite this limitation.

[Granted, a lot of that drive is for the sake of her ego.]

I would suggest we ring the bell first before searching inside.

Ah... yes, I suppose you're right.. [ Frown. That's just wrong, in any case. But Lucy glanced at Natsu, nodding slowly. ]

That would normally be the case, but Nova City's spirits must not have any influence outside of their city. Nova City, Fayren, and Attleton are all safe areas from the attacks, it seems.

[ Aren't you lucky Satsuki, to have a resident expert on spirits? ... *cough* Okay so her spirits are different from spirits in general but still. ]

It's unanimous then. [ Lucy started to head into the shrine, stopping short at Satsuki's suggestion. Right, ringing the bell would be better - though she doubted the spirits would come running. ]

There's always idiots like that and we always end up kicking their ass when they try.

[That's just the Fairy Tail way of doing things in their world. He listens to Lucy's explanation and while most of it goes way over his head he manages to grasp the basic details well enough.]

Huh I guess that settles it then.

[Better head for the bell Lucy or he might ring it too hard.]

[While she listens to Lucy, her gaze shifts to Natsu now and again. In a way they were rather similar to Flonne and Laharl to her. That said, she's once again surprised as Lucy offers her thoughts on the spirits.]

Safe for now, at least. Nova Cities' defenses against the supernatural are not as strong as those in Fayrens so it will be an enormous problem should this is not resolved as soon as possible. [Beat.] I must know.. There must be something I can do..

[She's not a very good at acting like a lady in distress, she likely comes off more frustrated.]

Well.. Let us start.

[She heads over to the large bell, and after she grasps the rope and gives it a few tugs, several gongs follow. Finally she claps her hands together and closes her eyes. A minute or so passes and nothing happens.]

Tch. Perhaps it will reveal itself inside.

[So she'll let the duo take the lead.]

[ Beating up jerks that do wrong, that is. And hey, they're nothing like those two! Natsu isn't nearly that egotistical for one. ]

Stay calm. [ Because yeah, Satsuki you don't pull off lady-in-distress well. Lucy does lady in distress better than you! ...maybe. ]

If we get frantic, we won't be able to help anyone. [ Although staying calm in this sort of situation was hard to do. She couldn't help but feel like they were on a time limit. Still, being with Natsu was oddly calming for her - although she put an arm out to keep him from making for the bell. He'd probably yank on it and tear the whole thing down by accident. ]

Well, you didn't think it would be as easy as that, did you? [ She chuckled slightly, though she was a little disappointed that it wasn't. Sigh. Still with Satsuki giving them the lead, she motioned Natsu to follow her, heading up the steps into the shrine. ]

Huh I guess that makes sense you guys don't have any magic of your own over there huh?

[Well other worlders might have powers but Fayren definitely felt more alive in terms of natural magic for him. All the other cities felt so off and cold for the Slayer.]

It could've been.

[He grumbles before quickly catching up to Lucy, all of his senses on high alert for the slightest sign of a presence around them.]

[Q- Quiet, you! But you're right you're not like Flonne.. She is cuter! >:|X ]

I.. Suppose not. And there may very well be, but it's presence is practically non-existant. I had not considered the existance of a spirit there until you mentioned it, however. That is something worth investigating at a later date.

[Though there is some relief in Natsu agreeing with her. She thinks. As they stroll along, Satsuki would normally have little issue continuing in silence; but something Lucy mentioned before really caught her interest.]

Are the both of you are capable of communicating with spirits?

It's all right. If I were in your position I'd feel a little frantic myself.

[ Oh. *OH*! You wanna go, Eyebrows? LET'S GO. ]

Well, the spirits seem to take a stance of non-involvement with people except in cases like this, don't they? Fayren's spirits, and I'm sure the other spirits as well, keep to themselves unless it's necessary for them to get involved in some way. [ That might be why they never really see a spirit around. ]

[ Once inside the shrine, Lucy cast a glance around the small room before picking a direction, splitting off from the other two. She didn't stray far though, staying within earshot as she continued to talk. ]

I am. Although my spirits are very different from the spirits here.

There's no real reason why there wouldn't be one in Nova too then. Though it'd be nice if these spirits would make their hang outs a bit more obvious.

[He holds his hand out and allows a flame to hover in the palm of his hand to light up the room better.]

Yeah that's Lucy's thing. I'm better at blowing stuff up and kicking ass.

[And he's so proud of that.]

You would know better than I; though I have to question such a stance. Assuming this chaos is the reason we have been brought here in the first place, then what is the point of remaining in hiding without telling us at least that much? Far too many of us are brought here without the slightest inkling of what their purpose is. [Satsuki frowns.] If we had known we would have been far more organized. United.

[Satsuki shakes her head as she looks around, though she pauses when Natsu's flames abruptly come into existance. While it can't be seen, the life fibers of her uniform are annoyed by it so she makes a little distance.]

Still, I cannot say that surprises me. I have come to learn that there are numerous types of magics in existance. But how are you certain that your spirits are so different?

[If she were the type to, she'd chuckle to Natsu's response. Instead she's a stick-in-the-mud.]

I agree. [For the most part.] And is that so.. What is your occupation?

[ Good, I didn't wanna mess my hair up anyway. ]

That's a pretty big assumption. If what's happening now -is- the reason we were called here, then yes, preparation was severely lacking. I don't think that's it though - it seemed to ... [ She paused, searching for a word. ]

Sudden? [ She guesses. ] This place is their home, if they knew that it was going to be attacked, I would think they would have given us ample warning. Ah - thanks Natsu, that's much better~!

[ She flashed a quick smile over at her partner as he brought some more light in the room, chuckling at his response. ]

And he is very good at what he does. [ Heaping praise on the partner yis. Glancing towards Satsuki, she looked thoughtful for a moment, checking under a table. ]

Hrm.. A hunch, mainly. But also, if they were anything like my spirits, they would have approached someone for help by now. Well... [ Unless something like the Eclipse project happened and changed their entire personalities. ] If they could, anyway.

Me? I'm a mage of Fairy Tail. [ Or what was Fairy Tail. ] A Celestial Mage. And Natsu -- [ Well Natsu could give his occupation himself this time around~ ]

[He saw you moving away there, Satsuki. Was she also a weirdo? Why were so many of the girls he knew such weirdos? Well Lucy got to work explaining what she did so right on cue, he finished her phrase.]

I'm also part of Fairy Tail but I'm the Fire Dragonslayer.

Perhaps it is, but I have been stuck here for some time and it seems a plausible theory to me. But I suppose time will tell. Still, from what I understand, your theory is more likely than my own.

[If she understands correctly, then Lucy certainly has a larger advantage when it comes to contacting spirits, even if hers are different.]

I see. I have heard of Fairy Tail once before.

[Then to Natsu]

You created a volatile element from nothing in your hand without warning or explanation. I believe I have the right to show some caution, but if you find it that unusual I would be happy to lecture you on the subject of culture shock.

[ Well that she can't be surprised on, since apparently Fairy Tail was established here quite a while ago. What's more surprising is Satsuki's response to Natsu. She glanced over towards the girl curiously. Doth she smell bs? How can someone be here as long as Fairy Tail was and -still- be shocked by a simple fire spell? Yikes. ]

Really? You said yourself you've been here for sometime, and that you're aware of numerous magics in existence. I should think 'culture shock' wouldn't be an issue. Most people would be used to that kind of thing if they really have been in this place for some time. Fire is, after all, one of the most common elements, and a simple flame to light the room is harmless. If he were eating the fire, I think that would be a better reason for culture shock since that is a more...rare ability.

[ She still remembered her reaction to when she saw it the first time. Also she moved to another part of the shrine, checking for a sign of the wee spirit. ]

[If she knew about Fairy Tail then surely she'd heard about the Dragonslayer's enhanced senses. If not well she was in for a surprise regardless.]

[Satsuki frowns. She's well practiced in the art of it. On one hand, Lucy isn't entirely wrong; the Guardian isn't being honest about something. But what the mage suggests makes her body heat increase- Not in embarrassment but annoyance. She takes in a deep breath and is prepared to give the duo the lecture of a lifetime.

But then Natsu speaks and if Satsuki were drinking something she'd have spat it across the room. Well, not really, but it'd be of similar effect.

While she looks calm and poised, he's right. Her heart is beating faster.]

From what I can tell, Fairy Tail are a reckless and disorganized bunch.

And yes, that is what I said. I also mentioned I am the Guardian of Nova City and that magic is extremely rare there. Without going into details to my understanding of how fire works, I will say that the concepts of 'being aware of something' and 'rationalizing something' are different enough to warrant different reactions. While it may appear simple to you, I do not know what he is doing or how he is doing it.

[She then shoots a glare to Natsu. She won't touch her sword; he's probably expecting that and won't give him the satisfaction.]

I am not afraid; I am anticipating you burning this place to the ground.

[ Some might say she doesn't know any other facial expressions! Lucy would bet that was the case anyway. ]

If that's your impression, you don't know anything about Fairy Tail, then. [ Sure they might be rowdy when they're playing around, but when it came down to it, their teamwork was second to none. ]

If I may ask, exactly how long have you been here? Not just as guardian of Nova City but overall? [ There is method to her questioning though. Her anticipation of Natsu burning the place to the ground sounded like fear to her, though. ]

You can say that but that doesn't change how many times we were the ones to save the world from some stupid trap or super powerful badguy or a walking ruin that could turned a personality on its head so it was the opposite.

[Fairy Tail always got guff despite their achievements. Oh well that was how it was to be a member of the strongest guild.]

Really? I've got more control over my fire than that. As long as we don't get in a fight, nothing's gonna burn.

Well yes, I never claimed otherwise. My interaction with them has been limited at best; particularly the one that walks through buildings caught my attention.

I have been in Genessia for about a year. [And she'll even throw in a little more information.] I have had one experience with fire magic from the former Guardian who calls her magic 'fire bending'. When we first met she burned a hotel lobby with what appeared to be a simple snap of a finger.

[As for Natsu's comment, Satsuki responds with a small shrug of her shoulders.]

Perhaps so. Perhaps the collateral damage really could not be helped. All I know is that if it were avoidable, and I were a higher power overlooking your group, I would not be happy.

[Satsuki is very fun at parties, by the way. She makes an attempt to accept what Natsu says, but she keeps some distance regardless. She is only slightly concerned about the shrine, but def worried about her uniform.]

.. I.. Suppose so. You mentioned my heartbeat. Do you possess superhuman hearing?

[ Pff, the council is -always- unhappy with the collateral damage from Fairy Tail. But they can't deny that they get results, so they have to suck it up. ]

Gildarts was here? [ There's a shock for ya. Who else, she wondered. Well that's not important anymore. Frowning a little at the mention of the 'fire bender' she shook her head. ]

I couldn't say for that person, but obviously fire users aren't going to be the same everywhere. Natsu has far more control than that. He wouldn't burn me even if I put my hand in his fire. [ THAT'S how much trust she has in his control. After all the training he's done, something like that would be child's play. Though she probably shouldn't praise him so much. ]

You don't have to worry. We're only searching for the spirit, so there's no chance that we're going to get into a fight with anything around here either. [ And even if there was, they'd have to get outside to fight just to have more room to manuever anyway. ]

I don't think there's anything in here. Let's move on. [ To another room, towards the back. ]

[Oh no Lucy please continue to heap praise on top of him, he loves to have Lucy praise for a snack. Natsu's eyes did light up hearing about someone who could only be Gildarts!]

He was here too! Darn it's a shame we missed him.

[Though he had to wonder if that Gildarts knew of hte fate of the guild or not. Oh well it was a pointless exercise really. The topic of the firebender does pique his interest.]

That guy still around? I wonder what his fire tastes like~

That.. Sounds familiar. I believe that was the name. You are likely right; but as it stands I have no basis to understand the difference between the two. I have tried looking for books about it, but to no avail. [Her large brows furrow.] Not to question your claim, but what you are saying sounds impossible.

[But she's intrigued. She is extremely intrigued.]

I suppose clarification will have to wait, it is more important we find the spirit.

[The reactions the two give.. One is about right, the other is just.. Natu's respose seemed normal at first but when he asks about his fire she just gives him a look. Before heading into the back as well to look around. Natsu plz.]

What is the purpose of devouring fire? Is that how your magic is powered?
