[ Video ]
[ Ferris was a bright young woman. It didn't take her long to figure things out, with the pamphlet she was provided. Figuring out the videophone took a little longer, but when she did manage to cue up a recording, the face of a beautiful blonde woman showed on the display. Her face, on the other hand, showed little to no expression as she began to speak. ]

Prior to my arrival in this place, I traveled with a man. My partner, Ryner Lute. He is an unrepentant sex fiend who lures women of all ages into his clutches, and discards them with nary a thought. I must know if such a person is in this place, immediately.

[ Because he's her important friend and she'll tear the head off anyone who lays a finger on him. She spent a long time searching for him, refusing to believe he was dead - ]

More importantly, I also wish to know the location of the nearest dango shops. [ She's sure whatever shops there are here will be subpar to the Wynnit dango shops, but she was willing to have an open mind in the matter. ]

[ Action ]
[ Shortly after making her post, she resumed her search through the Bay, passing a brief glance into some of the pods, finding most empty. Most, save for one. The familiar figure sleeping away had her breath a quiet sigh of relief, reassured by his presence. He was all right. For a second her mind stole back to the last memory she had, when she finally found him after nearly desperatelu searching, the embrace, and his arms around her - she shook her head slightly. Enough of that. Time 0to greet him in the usual fashion. ]

Oi, Ryner. Wake up.

[ Yes Ryner, wake up to the sight of your favorite bully as she hefted her godkilling sword above her head, then started to swing it down at the pod he's sleeping in, not even giving him a chance to start to wake up. She was confident he would be awake and dodge the strike in time. It's cool. Incidentally anyone in the area are of course free to come across the pair. ]

[Ryner takes the transition far better than Ferris it seems as he looks around in wonder at the sights he could never have even imagined.]

Woah this place is huge!

[He says before the moving floor shook with the force of Ferris's attack.]

...What are you doing?

[ Don't you look at her with those judging eyes buster! Ferris glanced up towards him blankly at first, as if wondering why he even had to ask. ]

Is it not obvious?

[ ...was she not supposed to kill the sidewalk? ]

[Oh he'll judge. After all you're-]

Not really really. It looks like you're stabbing the floor.

[It's not magic since his eye would have seen the composition of the spell. Which makes her sword surprisingly ineffective until she manages to break through the plating to the mechanism below.]

[ She's what. WHAT. ]

...

[ Ferris glanced down at the ground and... you know, Ryner actually had a point there. It DID look like she was stabbing the floor. Because she was - but in her defense, the ground doesn't normally move on its own! .. and if it did it was because of a trap. She felt she'd been well within her rights to attack. ]

Hnn.

[ Just like she feels she'll be well within her rights to smack Ryner with the hilt of her sword if he laughs at her. Don't do it man! Straightening, she tugged on her sword, wedging it a little out of the gouge in the ground she created from the attack, a spark or two spotted from where she punctured under the plating. Between this and the flying cars and the holographic signs advertising rooms for the night, food, movies and other brickabrack, she wasn't sure what to make of a place like this. ]

[A weird one. ]

...

[He follows her glance and raises an eyebrow that seems to communicate if she's going to pull her sword out any time soon.]

[He'd love to laugh. Problem is contraptions are usually built by someone and given that this is not some abandoned tomb of a long since dead hero, odds are they'd hear from the owner of this thing if it broke. A thought which apparently doesn't come up in Ferris' head.]

Come on. We've been getting odd looks for a while now.

[After all not everyday you see a goddess of beauty stab the street with her rather large sword.]

[ She happens to think she's perfectly normal. Ish. Buuuuuut since the sidewalk has learned its lesson, she straightened, smoothly sliding the sword out of the contraption.]

[ Of course she doesn't think about the possibility of the owner coming up to them if the moving sidewalk no longer moved. That's what she had Ryner for. Playtime aside she did count on him. ]

We should find an inn.

[ She mused thoughtfully - now that the initial shock was dealt with in true Ferris fashion, she was eyeing other features of the city a little more warily, baffled. Neon lighting, holograms, - it was just bizarre. Ryner, however, may find himself walking alone after a few minutes, as Ferris catches sight of something relevant to her interests. A tea house! Even in a place like this. Who knew? ]

[He lets out another sigh but there is the faintest ghost of a smile tugging at his lips. It feels like a lifetime ago since the time when things were simple and they were just off on an adventure to find hero relics. None of the problems with Goddesses and lonely demons. Just a monster masquerading as a human and his partner with the world as their playground.]

That's better. But please try and hold back on stabbing anything else. AT least until they prove to be dangerous. AFter that by all means go wild.

[Why doesn't he feel her watlking with him? He turns his head and grumbles something under his breath before walking up next to Ferris.]

What is it this ti- Oh.

[Suddenly he's afraid for the envelope of currency he woke up with. He tucks it deeper into his pocket and for a moment entertains the notion of swiping Ferris' as well before she does something regrettable.]

[ She was only half listening to him when he cautioned her not to stab things that might not be dangerous. She's more interested in the delicious treats she's been without for far, far far far faaaaaaaaaaaaar too long. ]

[ Naturally Ryner could tell through her non-expression that she was shining with eagerness. He COULD try to swipe her money but she may kill him for trying to get between her and her precious sweets. And that's assuming she didn't accuse him of perverse things. For the moment she was pointing out dango for purchase. ]

This one. And that box set. Two.. no, three of those -

[ ...at least she'll share? ]

[It's not fair when she makes that face. He wants to stop her but when she makes that kind of subtle but genuinely happy expression he just can't decide what to do.]

Did you check the price first at least?

[Cause he's given up on her money but she's not seeing a dime from him. Or so he tells himself.]

[ Shelter or Dangos. Shelter or Dangos. Psh, Dangos are obviously the higher priority of the two. It wouldn't be the first time they've slept outside after all. ]

Hmm?

[ She glanced towards Ryner with a slight smile - ah, the price. Right. She couldn't spend as much as she did back home. This momentarily defeats her, but she checks the price. Ugh, just over her budget. She'd have to put one box of dango back. ]

...

[ Observe Ryner, as she wars with herself over what box of dango to give up on. It's like a life or death struggle! ]

[No. NO no no don't look like that. Don't...Don't dammit....DON'T!]

[He's a fool. A goddamn bleeding hearted fool. That's the only reason why he's holding out a few extra bills from his own envelope so that she can get that extra box too.]

[ He's a fool, but that's why she l.....ikes him. NEVER CHANGE. ]

[ She'll accept that as reason why he was giving her a few extra bills too, glancing back at him in surprise and smiling. She knew there was a reason to keep you around, Ryner! ]

[ Oh the goddess is practically beaming, surrendering the rest of her money and the bills Ryner gave her, and accepting no less than six boxes of dango with delight. ]

It's unlikely these will be as good as the ones back home, but - [ Wait, that kinda sounds ungrateful, considering Ryner gave her some of his money. ]

Anything is possible. [ She shuffled through the boxes for a moment as she headed out of the teahouse with her companion, and selected one, holding it out to him. ]

Here.

[ He gets a whole box all to himself! Because he finally understands the importance of having enough money for dango.]

[Somehow he feels like he has been cheated. Probably because he has. But when she smiles that happily (By her standards at least) it's hard to find it in himself to get angry.]

[He sighs in resignation. Well he didn't give her too much, barely a quarter of the allowance he woke up with so shouldn't be too bad. As he thinks on that though he wakes up with a box held out towards him. His eyes widen a little.]

You want me to carry this for you?

[No he doesn't get it that she's sharing one with him. Because this is Ferris and her sacred Dangos!]

[ Ferris shook her head at the assumption. Silly boy, carry one box while she carried the other five? ]

No, that one is for you. A reward for understanding the importance of Dango.

[ She'll let him absorb that for a moment, and then hands over the other five boxes. ]

You can carry these, however.

[Boy that can kill a million people in the blink of an eye. Yeah.]

For me? Oh. Okay then Tha-

[ANd then she holds out the other boxes and his gratitude is a bit diminished as he levels her a "really?" look before taking hold of the stack of boxes.]

Maybe we should have done this, AFTER we found a place where we can stay?

[Since now they were stuck exploring while carrying a tower of Dangos.]

[ Shh. Ferris' smile doesn't fade even at that 'really?' look. ]

Perhaps, but there is no help for it now. Don't drop those.

[ Dropping the box of dango is extreme disrespect to the dango god, you know! Besides, you would be a poor manservant if you did. She turned and started walking again, in higher spirits. She thought she'd never be able to have dango again! ]

[Which is exactly what he expects really.]

I know I know. His heavenly-ness lord Dango will smite me if I do.

[Such is the routine. Honestly carrying dangos is a far better use for the strength chiseled into his body from young. Strength made to kill.]

So what now? Do we look for some place where we can sit or should we go through another gate and hope we find an Inn there?

Oi, Ryner. [ Ferris stopped short to turn and look at him, all serious again. ]

Mind how you speak about the God of Dango. He'll curse you for disrespect and turn you into a dango.

[ ... She ... stares at him thoughtfully at that, perhaps contemplating just what kind of dango he'd be. The question that follows has her blink once, snapping out of the reverie, and then scan their surroundings again. ]

There. [ Nice little bench spot under some trees where they can stop to rest a little. Far enough from the side walk that they can watch people in the area while still being private(ish). ]

[Ah there it comes, another excerpt from the scripture of the Dango Lord. Though being turned into a dango is something new.]

Yes yes I know.

[He looks over to the spot she picked out and carefully moved in that direction. To her credit Ferris picked a fairly decent spot. He carefully puts his stack of boxes down spreading them around Ferris'. ]

Which do you want first?

[ Ferris nodded sagely - though she had a feeling he was only saying that to go along with the shenanigans. Settling on the bench, she surveyed the dango boxes spread out around her before picking one of them up. ]

This will do to start.

[ TO start, she says. She probably intended to eat all the dango she just bought in one sitting. ...they really needed a job. Monster hunting or something. But first... ]

Ryner. [ She began, carefully picking up her treat. ] The fight earlier. Explain.

[Of course she did. Ryner already knew what she intended with all five boxes. Which is why he quickly picks out his own from the pile and puts it in his lap before she pops the question on him.]

What do you mean? It was how I always fight.

[ She would easily eat nothing but dango and still not have enough. ]

Yes, however there was a difference. You possessed a level of control that you lacked when last I saw you.

[ She pops the dango into her mouth, glancing at him gravely. ]

[And she still wouldn't gain an ounce of fat because of it. Truly the metabolism of a goddess.]

Last you saw me? What are you talking about? You were there there with me when the battle took place.

[He still doesn't imagine their time frame might not be the same.]

[ It is a blessing from the Dango God himself. HIs most loyal member would never gain an inch of fat. ]

[ Yeah she's staring again, and looking like you may be crazy. ]

You make less sense than usual, Ryner. The last we saw each other you were in the prison. Was this battle a dream you concoted in your sleep?

[It has to be.]

What? But that was weeks ago?!

[He doesn't understand. This has to be some kind of joke...unless.]
