[a field near the fairgrounds has been cleared away and set up into a tastefully decorated outdoor ball. There are balloons, trellises crawling with summer flowers and white holiday lights carved white chairs and tables, and a buffet table heavy with food. In the center is a beautiful wood dance floor in front of an amphitheater in which a small band complete with singer plays a variety of songs. Some instrumental, some not. Feel free to request or take the stage for yourself!

Dance the night away and at midnight get ready to pull of your masks and basks in the dazzling fireworks display bursting overhead.

Once he'd heard tell of a lurid contest, Ted ignored the carnival. The last one didn't end so well, anyway.

But Ted could never resist a dance, especially a costume dance. His own was elaborate, with enough colors and frills that the gaudiest peacock would tell him to tone it down.

Dancing is one of the few physical activities that he's actually good at; he loved the steps, the music, and the motion intermingling his soul and theirs. If he sees you, he will ask if he can have this dance. He wants to have them all.

Not a half bad partner, either, if he does think so himself.

While Ted is alone by himself, a gentleman with long silver hair tied back in a pony tail with a black ribbon, wearing an all black tuxedo, a black top hat, a raven beaked mask with black feathers decorating on the side of the temple, and wearing a pair of raven wings with an impressive wingspan as part of the costume is standing next to him.

Perhaps, an anthropomorphic of Edgar Allan Poe's Raven looking really good and dashing. The Father in disguise, nudged Ted with an elbow, "Enjoying yourself, my friend?"

Berg Katze | OTA

[Ever since the fail that was his latex kimono dress thanks to that skunky haired fucker, Berg Katze been plotting schemeing. He needed an outfit that allowed anonymity without being just some gaudy Halloween costume with sparkles. He wanted to enter this masquerade dressed at his finest with a level of sophistication and a hint of danger.

Through whatever powers that be and a little roughhousing of a local seamstress, Berg Katze walks into this ball looking like the leader of an intergalactic terrorist organization in this quite avantgarde purple cat-eared masked suit with a long flowing red/purple cloak and red gloves and boots. The front of the costume as golden buttons flowing down the upper torso in a mock military fashion. The lower half of his mouth is exposed and his lips painted in signature red.]

Kneel before you new master, peons! All your base belongs to me!

[His shrill laughter echos over the music and all the chatter. He descends the stares like a cosplayer high on Pocky and bad pop music with the grace and poise to rival any dancer. Berg Katze gives his cape a nice "Whoosh!" in true villainous fashion.]

Fetch me a glass of red or else you'll see red! [He says towards the nearest server with a pompous huff.] NOW!

[Despite this being a masked costume, anyone who knows him can tell it's Katze. The back of the helmet is left exposed and his long magenta hair is cascading down the back of his awesome as hell cloak.]

[Bracken & Katze - Closed ]

Oh, come on! It doesn't look that bad.

[Berg Katze says as he drags the poor blond over. It was difficult to find a costume that matches his. Katze went over the top with his costume on purpose but Bracken didn't even try. Utterly determined to drag Bracken with him to the ball, he put this strange green number on the youth along with that odd cat mask too.]

I knew I should've forced that seamstress to make this purple instead of green!

[The costume definitely wasn't very 'Bracken'. Normally, he would have completely skipped the event. Probably never even knew about it, stayed home and did his usual thing.

But, he wasn't one who said 'no' a lot. Katze had gotten him into the weird, very tight thing... He wasn't horribly out of shape or anything, but he was definitely on the 'big-boned' side. And he definitely didn't hold himself like any kind of soldier. Not having a staff was super weird, and he wasn't used to stuff being clingy.

Still, he wasn't one to complain. He was a very awkward looking henchman, staying a bit behind Katze.]

A-Are you sure I look okay...? It's... really tight.

[For a guy who usually wore relaxed robed, this was new.]

Anastasia | OTA

[Someone certainly was staying up well past her bedtime.

Dressed in her favorite pink ball gown and wearing a matching mask with the sides styled to look like angel wings, she carried her usual parasol in hopes to further hide her identity.

However, the fact that even though she was wearing shoes with heels higher than what she is used to make herself appear taller, she was still noticeably shorter than most others at the party.

While Anastasia walks around the party, she does her best to look like she belongs. As a Princess, she was pretty much a pro.]

[Abel figured out she might be Anastasia, with her height and parasol, but he couldn't be too sure.

To Anastasia, a very tall gentleman with long silver hair, wearing all black in a tuxedo suit approached her. What makes the man look intimidating is his raven beak mask styled with raven feathers. And he wears a pair of raven wings with an impressive wing span that is seen clearly having straps around his shoulders and back.]

Good evening. Are you enjoying the party?

[Abel just have to join the party for the delicious food, especially those delectable sweets!!!

Except one problem, he isn't particulary good at wearing costumes. He wanted to join. And well, he gets the idea to rent a costume from a costume store to wear for the evening. After all, by day he's a priest, and the priest uniform is unsuitable for this kind of party.

He wears all black. An elegant gentleman suit and a black top-hat. What distinguished him from the others other than his long silver hair is that he wears a raven beak mask with black feathers decorating on the side of his temple, and a pair of stiff pitch-black raven wings (so fake, but it's a prop and part of his costume) that has a strap around his shoulders and arms.

So yes, he looks like a raven man in a black tuxedo. Either way, this man is going to nom on his sweets and wine at his own dinner table.]

[Bracken was in a surprisingly good disguise. Besides being a fairly average-looking man, he was almost completely covered by a ridiculous costume of Katze's choosing. Taking into account how unlike his personality the costume was, people who knew him would probably have some doubts even if he looked familiar.

But his personality? Gave him away pretty much immediately when he opened his mouth.]

Y-You're wings are nice.

[It sounded like he wanted to make conversation with the mysterious man, but at the same time it was so meek and quiet that it could almost be missed in the noise.]

Freeza | OTA

[A familiar and somewhat dreaded figure floats down out of the sky, Freeza dressed in a formal business suit of all things. A hole cut in the bottom to make room for his long, waving tail.

He looks utterly bored surveying the (rather measly to him) festival around him. Though a small nasty smile crosses his lips as he sees people on either side immediately scurry away in fear.]

So this is their idea of holding a cerebration? How very quaint...

[Abel noticed the figure floating in the air, and well, being no measely human himself, he could sense that the alien looking individual has a LOT of power. Perhaps enough to kill everyone here.

Unfortunately, hoping for the best, maybe he's only here to enjoy the festivities, but he does keep a close watch on him every now and then, wary. He sense danger from him.]

Open To All

*Sonico had been looking forward to this event as soon as she had heard it announced. A ball is something she has only read about in fairy tales and seen in films, so her expectations are pretty high. Sonico arrives with an ice blue colour as her outfit theme. The woman in the shop had insisted that it contrasted beautifully with the pink of her hair and eyes, and that certainly turned out to be true. Sonico wears a long blue blackless dress, designed to accentuate her curves while also far more sophisticatoon than she has ever felt. She wears a delicate blue mask to match, and her hair is tied up for a change, make up elegantly done.

Floating Around

On arrival and at various points in the evening, Sonico can be found just drifting around the ball, admiring all the decoration.

By the Dance Floor

Sonico doesn't dance but she is having a great time listening to the music and watching others, standing a safe distance from the dance floor so that she doesn't get pulled in.

Buffet Time

Who can say no to a buffet that delicious? Plus, there appears to be sparkling wine available, so Sonico lingers by that table. What else to drink at a ball?*

[Terrance is wearing a black mask and a red formal jacket. He steps up behind Sonico with a smirk on his lips. He leans forward, a hand lightly resting on her shoulder to stop her from turning around. He whispers in her ear feeling protected behind the black mask.

There is something mystical about masquerades.]

Watching doesn't look like much fun.

[He releases her shoulder knowing that his accent most likely gave his identity away. That or his messy hair will, really masks are useless but it's still a little fun.]

[ overall it took shiemi the longest to find a proper costume that suited her tastes and was as elegant as she assumed the ball to be — and it was. as usual she wore a kimono, but not any ordinary kimono. It was extravagantly made, eye-catching and adorned with cherry blossoms on the sleeves and torso. even matching socks, geta, and hair pins came with it to make a whole set! it came for a very cheap price, much to shiemi’s surprise and pleasure.

along with such a pretty array, she wore her white cat mask, which covered up all of her face. Her hair was tied into a bun and her bangs were also moved away from her forehead to add extra ~mystery~ to the mix. hands folded into the wide sleeves, she glances around in awe. ]

So pretty…

[ unfortunately her voice most likely gave away who she was to anyone who knew her. ]

[ quietly as she watched the rest of the party goers, shiemi stood at the buffet table, head turned slightly and allowing her bangs to shade her eyes as she nibbled on a coconut macaroon.

and honestly considered staying there and eating all the sweets! but that would be inconsiderate, right…? ]

ᴀʀᴏᴜɴᴅ ᴛʜᴇ ᴅᴀɴᴄᴇ ꜰʟᴏᴏʀ

[ shiemi had no idea how to dance. and didn’t she need a partner to do that? humming softly to the music, which was some sort of waltz, she watched carefully underneath her mask. ]

Around the Dance Floor

[ In his many years of living, he'd never once been to such a fancy event such as this one. So of course where the opportunity had called for it? He actually set aside his usual track-suit to don something more appropriate, dressed in an outfit that made him look like a prince, though he bore a deep red, unusually styled cape for contrast. His deep blue hair was parted from the left in a more formal fashion, making the blue and gold mask stand out, while perched atop his hair on the left side was a glittery crown kept in place by a simple hairpin.

He'd already been over to the buffet table at least once, fluttering out and about through the crowd easily afterward. It's only as he passes by the dance floor that he notices the sole young lady on her own, dressed in an absolutely stunning kimono and a distinctive white cat mask covering her whole face.

With a mood so fleeting as his own, Yato couldn't help but move closer until he was just before her, a charming grin on his lips as he held a hand out to her. ]

A well-dressed lady shouldn't be all on her own on a night like this. Would you care to join me for a dance?

Terrance | OPEN

[Terrance is wearing a black mask and a red formal jacket. He stands like he belongs though his hair is a little messy and the smirk on his lips implies that something within the ball is entertaining him. one hand is in his pocket and the other is holding a drink.

He likes his spot against the wall, watching those fluttering around the dance floor and accumulating near the food. It's fun to people watch and being here makes him feel like he's stepped into a Shakespeare play. At least before something goes horribly wrong.]

[Something is always bound to go wrong at such things, but for now, Smoker is content to basically....]

[Do the same. He's wearing a wolf mask, but the double cigars and total fail at formal wear (leather jacket and jeans.... and no shirt. A+) kind of give him away to anyone who's even heard of him.]

[He's also leaning back against the wall, and just politely nods to Terrence. Sup dude.]

[Being cooped up in her room for too long, Grell decides to come out for the ball. One night of freedom wouldn't be that bad, and really, she could do with a lift of spirits.

Choosing a unique crimson dress with a black mask with red accents and simple red pumps, Grell looks around for any familiar faces. Perhaps for the first time in her life and afterlife, she feels a bit less like her usual confident self. All the more reason to put on a facade of confidence, and hope no one tries to poke a hole in it.

Without seeing any familiar face just yet, she'll make her way to the refreshments area.]

[Standing right next to her at the refreshments table is a tall handsome gentleman with long silver hair tied back in a ponytail, wearing a black tuxedo, a raven mask with black feathers decorate on both sides of his temple, and donning a pair of raven wings which is clearly show it's attached to straps around his chest and shoulders.

He tipped his top hat to her. He feel inclined to compliment on her dress.]

That's a very nice dress you have there. Do you enjoy the color red?

[Gale intended on being the "grandest of all" with this whole masquerade thing... by which he would be entirely unrecognizable, even by those who knew him. All thanks to a holographic device he spent over a month tinkering with to change his physical appearance to a pale blond man, and the voice changer that Allen had made for him to ensure his voice would sound nothing like his own.

So Gale was there in disguise, though in what looked like fancy armor rather than some kind of formal dress. Hey, he's still got the mask, he's golden. That was the important part about the masquerade attire.

He'll be hanging out in a seat just outside of the dance floor, watching the rest with a slight smirk and swirling a glass of wine in his hand. Balls always seemed a little too formal and stuffy for him, but he was willing to give this one a shot, out of pure curiosity.]

[Sorry but that "Grandest of them All" been snatched up by none other than Berg Katze.

The big cat is prancing around in his awesomely retro cat-eared suit that consists of bold purples and bright reds. He's been owning the catwalk here since the start of this ball and is continuing to own it.

He slides past this fancy armored-clad man with a huff. Neon green lights? Tacky! Katze can't help but roll his eyes a little at this bloke.]

You better be a better dancer than you are a... [-Scoff-] fashionista.

[This ball seemed pretty fancy, and nothing like the dance at Beacon. No one was getting down and funky! Everything is pretty...formal. All that's missing is doilies!

So what does she do?

Nora takes a chair from one of tables and parks herself next to the buffet table. Or rather... in front of it, as if it's her table! Good thing she chose a mask that makes it easy to eat! But she also chose a white dress. Maybe she won't get anything on it...

She's totally stuffing her face, perhaps getting enough energy to show people how to really dance and have fun!]

[Ibuki's definitely game for storing energy for better dancing. She's not much one for formal events herself, and moreover she's eager for as many distractions as she can find while she's here.

And oh wouldn't it happen there's something she wants to taste right where Nora is. She's careful not to bump into her, but she's pretty close all the same.]

Wow. It's been a while since Ibuki's seen a spread like this.

If anyone didn't know better they'd think he was more of a royal figure than a god to anyone who might possibly recognize him.

He could be found anywhere from the buffet table to the dance floor, seeming to be a social butterfly and managing to almost be everywhere all at once without even trying. All while wearing a deceptively charming smile, it's easy for him to feel mischievous, allowing him to eventually find some unsuspecting person and approach them from behind, leaning in close when he speaks. ]

[Though she's trying to keep herself occupied enough to pretend otherwise, there's part of Ibuki that can't help but feel a little on edge. This isn't her scene and she can't help but be reminded of the last party she went to and she doesn't really want to stop for fear she'll let it defeat her.

And for that, Yato has an easier time catching her off-guard; she spins sharply at the voice in her ear, hand going to her chest as she tries to let her pulse settle.]

Uwa! Sneaking up on a girl like that, anyone would think you're up to no good!

[And she's really hoping it's not the sort of no good she won't enjoy.]

[ shiemi had been to plenty of festivities similar to this one — although she never really dressed up so exquisitely as now. she even considered going back to the buffet table and was on her way to do so before a voice had stopped her in her tracks, captivating and smooth.

she turns her head to face him, smiling underneath her mask tentatively and tilting her head. ]

I don’t really know how to dance. [ she laughs softly, hand going to meekly touch the side of her face. ] Are you a good teacher?

[ but she does take his hand, albeit nervously, because she was worried she would embarrass herself in front of a boy dressed as a prince of all things! ]

It's clear to see the large raven wings has a harness that circled around his shoulders and back. His costume is pretty neat.

So Shiemi is approached by a man with a raven costume dressed in black. For Abel, it's great fun, because no one suspects he's a priest by profession.]

You never danced before? I can teach you and go slow if you like. Your costume is well put together, I must say. May I have this dance?

[He offered his hand.]

[For all the fun she's had at the festival so far, Ibuki hasn't really had the funds to go all-out for this event and even if she had, it's debatable if she'd have gone for anything conventional.

What she does have, after all, is imagination and enough sewing ability to throw something functional together. With just a little pink and black plaid fabric and some buttons she manages to transform a cheap shirt into having the illusion of a waistcoat over it and the leftover fabric is enough to add patches to equally cheap trousers and jacket until she has a passable form of tuxedo - complete with bow tie in that same plaid. Not that she even wears the jacket much once she's inside.

Her mask has her personal touch to it as well; plain black and white has had pink and blue painted in, because with her hair and piercings it's not like Ibuki is hard to identify anyway.

Once she's at the ball, Ibuki spends most of her time near the food. Truthfully, such formal events aren't really her sort of thing and while she's getting to know people here, it still seems most fun to her to stick by the food and make conversation with anyone who approaches.]

Pretty impressive spread, huh? Guess they want us to keep our energy up.

[And Ibuki's certainly making the most of the free food on offer.

Not to say she won't dance with people if the mood takes her - and she'll even ask people to dance, though it won't be in any sort of formal manner. And if someone asks her, she'll do her best to follow - but don't expect her to know what she's doing.

Overall, she's doing her best to pretend that this is her scene and that she's not expecting something to go wrong. Occasionally she might be spotted staring at the air conditioning or the lighting rather than anything part of the event itself - but anyone asking will soon be met with a smile that glosses over her distraction.]

Heh. Guess you caught me. Ibuki can't help but zone out sometimes.

Ted isn't one for convention, as anyone would see by his ostentatious, motley garb. That Ibuki would dress in a tuxedo, albeit one equally motley, gave him some confusion. He surmounted it quickly.

"Hah, is Ibuki shy of asking for dresses? I'd have endeavored to give you one, had I known the need. I'm glad to see you here; are things going well? Would you like to dance?"

Adela | OTA

So much for skipping on the Masquerade.

Near the buffet table was Adela, sitting in her chair but looking quite elegant while doing so. With vivid red hair styled just right and a mask doing near-nothing to hide her face, the teen was more than content to simply watch those dancing, talking, and generally just to be an observer. Were it not for Smoker's insistence however, she would not even be there in the first place.

The music was lovely to listen to at least, and once she was sure that she wasn't garnering unwanted or overwhelming attention she finally allowed herself to relax a little more and simply to enjoy the atmosphere. Perhaps preparing for this wasn't the most pleasant experience, but maybe something that would happen that night would make it worth it in the end.

Of course, it wasn't some contrived fairy tale where she would find love, at least she hoped not. She was certain she wasn't ready for that just yet. But maybe she'd have at least one nice memory to take home with her -- even if dancing would be impossible for her.

Ted's all about that, walking over looking more gregarious than even Marco on a good day. "Good evening, Adela. I confess I didn't think you were the ballroom type, though I'm glad to be proven wrong. The purple and red is lovely. How are you?"

[Terra is standing against the wall in her stunning red dress. Her fingers lightly brush against the feathers at her side while the silky crimson fabric clings to her thin frame. Her hair is style on top of her head with small wisps of green breaking free and framing the delicate curve of her cheek. Her lips are red like her dress and her eyes lined with black beneath her mask. If not for the mint green hair she'd look like a stranger to those stepping past her.

A soft sign falls from her lips and she wonders why it is she came. She loves dances and she's been to a few of them during her time in Genessia but she usually ends up blooming against the wall and watching while others mingle and enjoy themselves.]

*There's another girl nearby who is also keeping herself to herself. Unlike some of the people here, Sonico hasn't turned up with a friend or a partner. But she is content to watch people, their outfits, how they interact. There's a particularly pretty girl standing nearby, but she doesn't seem especially happy. When she sighs, Sonico stands a little closer*

Good evening. I'm sorry, I know it's none of my business but...are you okay?

[Who is wallflower extraordinare? This guy. Caelestis was quite used to formal events, being a duke and a military general meant plenty of formal affairs, but he still wasn't exactly a fan of them. He would socialize, but at home ge would leave the dancing and attention grabbing antics to his sister and brother-in-law... without them, though, he admittedly felt uncomfortable, if only slightly.

Even so, he maintained his strong military appearance, clad in a red uniform and a mask. He seemed to be hanging out relatively close to the exit with his arms behind his back; he intended to leave early to aid in Everglade's various troubles, but he figured it wouldn't hurt to attend the ball long enough to say he did. He probably had his eye on the clock though.]

Nagisa | Open

[Nagisa hadn't been very happy about just simply wearing a nice fancy suit and a mask, so Nagisa himself had decided that he would indeed wear a nice suit (minus the hat) but his mask however that covered his eyes was something styles similar to that of a rockhopper penguin. Orange nose that stuck out in the form of a beak and feathers just above the eyes that were black and yellow just above the eyes.

He felt like it was different and fun. So he started to wonder around, looking to see what everyone else was wearing as well as maybe sneak up behind a few people, leaning in closer, with a slight smile on his face as he whispered.]

[To a degree, Ibuki had been starting to relax. The food's good, there's been enough company to keep her out of serious trouble and she's actually taking a moment to herself that doesn't involve too much worrying.

And then there's that whisper and all she can see from the corner of her eye is black and white and animal and she can't help freaking out, to the point where she half-throws half-drops her glass of juice in her haste to back away.]

Kya! Ibuki knew this party was too good to be true! I'm too young to die twice!

[Even the bitty dragon has managed to get dressed up for the masquerade, although it'd be impossible for anyone to not recognize her. All she can really do is socialize, since she can't really dance the way humans do, and the food served doesn't really agree with her.]

[Lenalee had never been to anything formal before. So this was a first for her. She didn't even know what she had to wear until she had asked around. So as she wondered around, her hands lightly brushing her dress as she placed her hands gently in front of her.

At most she would wonder around, close to the wall, unsure as to what to do expect and adjusting her mask now and again. When she wasn't standing by the wall she had been going to check out what else is there.]

[Here's the guy she met at the festival last time. He thinks he recognized her, as the hair length and color is the same, as well as the height.

So while she is wandering around, he approached her. He might look intimidating as he stands tall at 6'2'', and as he is a silvered haired tuxedo raven, with a raven mask and a pair of raven wings strapped to his back.]

[Of course, Lenalee Lee could take a guess who this is. There isn't many guys with long silver hair she met.]

Micaiah | Open

[ Micaiah is not the most dance happy creature, and neither is she the most social. But when you're at a ball like this, you can't help but want to see what everyone else is up to. Beautiful dresses, beautiful dances, and the positive atmosphere draw Micaiah out.

She's wearing a frilly dress and a mask, giving her a slightly more waifish look than she's known for, but she's fine with that. She's more or less looking for familiar faces, but she was still approachable enough that a friendly stranger could approach her with little to no problem. ]

He'd know that long tress of white anywhere. Or so Ted thought. Ted, in many-colored garb that looked almost avian, went to her and bowed courteously.

[ What can she say? Konoka feels more excited than ever.

She's been to a lot of formal gatherings, especially given her trip to the magical world put her waist deep in several of them, but a masquerade ball, and one in which she could get away with her current costume? Oh, this was great.

Konoka would flit by in a rather regal kimono dress and a mask that fit, more than happy to flit between the high quality food and find friends to socialize with. Maybe she wasn't among the people she knew back at home, but Konoka was rather fond of some of the people she met. Maybe she'd find new friends too! ]

[Konoka first dance partner of the night? Is a tall handsome gentleman with long silver hair tied back in a ponytail, wearing a black tuxedo, a raven mask with black feathers decorate on both sides of his temple, and donning a pair of raven wings which is clearly show it's attached to straps around his chest and shoulders.

He doesn't recognized her in the slightest, but he approached her because of her costume.]

[Yukiko had been excited about this party. Wearing masks and for a change of pace actually wearing a dress to a party was an exciting thing for her. So she had chosen a dress that she thought suited her and came with a colour that she would always wear because of her friend and a mask that went along with it.

With this party, she felt like she should be friend and at least talk to everyone that she came across with a smile.]

[Karla is actually not dressed up, and certainly doesn't have a mask, because she didn't know that she was supposed to wear one. Most curious. Although, she doubted that she would be comfortable in a mask anyway.]

[To her, the default dress she always wore was perfect. Casual, but elegant, and allows for easy movement in case a fight broke out. Why would she wear anything else?]

[She walks around, looking casually at everyone. It's like being in a room full of strangers.]

If it isn't his ally in Gestalt. And no costume; pity. He'd endeavor to fix that, coming up in a vibrantly colored costume of his own with a mask in hand.

[ Despite it being a masquerade ball, Weiss knew she was far too recognizable. Her long, snow white hair and pale skin gave her away no matter what she did, but she still elected to at least try to push herself out of her comfort zone. A multi-length dress and a red mask accompanied her hair in an unfamiliar style down to just above her knees. Properly socializing had been there already for a while now.

Despite her outfit and having actually showed up, she seems to be staying to the edge of the room, just as she hadn't exactly attended the rest of the carnival- quite a contrast to the last one she went to, but she was trying. ]

[Abel is getting pretty long-winded. After all, he danced with a few partners on the dance floor, having fun. He pretty much stood out as he is a silvered haired tuxedo raven, with a raven mask and a pair of raven wings strapped to his back. Since it's quite hot, he lifted his mask to get cool and have a drink of ice cold water from his cup.

The girl look kinda familiar. Isn't that the girl who is the holographic image at the bay when he first arrived? Naturally, he's curious.]
