[Video] A New Arrival
[Another day, another adventure. While Spock isn’t thrilled to find that he’s the target this go around, it’s certainly not surprising; statistically, with how things go on the Enterprise, he was overdue for something akin to this to happen.
He watches the video dutifully and thoroughly reads through all of the provided paper pamphlets (arguably the most alarming thing about this planet), frowning all the while, before he broadcasts a video on the primitive device while he begins to leave the Bay.]
Greetings, I am Commander Spock of the U.S.S. Enterprise. If I have been taken, then I believe that there must be at least one other member of the Enterprise here, a Captain James Kirk[because Kirk’s luck has always been worse that way]. If you have any information on the whereabouts of my captain, please let me know.
I am also interested in learning more about the technology available to us [he hopes it gets better than a god damn smart phone] and what it is that is preventing us from simply contacting our ships and getting transported back. As the Enterprise’s science officer I believe that I may be able to offer some assistance on the matter.

Re: Video
I must disagree. While the people might be more... [what's the right word here?] happy to explore the avenues they wish to pursue, there is then little to no control over what they research, meaning that their goals may very well not align with their own. Furthermore, as most species thrive on self-preservation, a gun to the head would be an excellent motivator.
Re: Video
That's assuming they want something that specific. Anyway, the thing is sure - it might work in the short term but eventually - especially if you're talking about humans, you're going to have an uprising.
Re: Video
Surly they want something specific. What other reason would they have to hold us here?
[The slightest of frowns crosses Spock's face as he considers McCoy's line of thinking.]
You would suggest that humans would revert back to the barbaric state of their ancestor's should their freedom be taken from them. And interesting conclusion, but a faulty one; this has not been the case in most of human history. And even if it were to come to that, most of the rebellions failed, ending in much bloodshed, making the choice an illogical one unless absolutely necessary. I suggest that for now we attempt to learn what we can about this planet and it's inhabitants so that we may escape before it becomes an issue.
Re: Video
[He crosses his arms.]
Not everything boils out of logic, and you should know that by now. I'm all for figuring out a way to get out of here, you're the one who started speculating.
Re: Video
I disagree; there is always logic being followed, though some being's logic is fallible. Nevertheless, I believe that understanding why we are here is prudent in understanding what we have to do to leave. If we can please the natives then it is possible that they will simply release us.
[Possible, but not probable.]
Re: Video
[He wouldn't - but he also knew the chances of Spock actually asking were slim.]
How about we stop standing around flapping our jaws and do something then?
Re: Video
Alright, Doctor. What ideas have you come up with besides wait for the Captain to arrive?
[Because it's not a matter of if when Jim is involved.]
Re: Video
They mentioned housing. I say we go take a look. If you're right and they've got some big plans for us they might have more there. Gives us a base of operations anyway. Once that's done there's a foundation that's supposed to have information.
Unless you'd rather listen to someone else before you gather the information yourself.
[He didn't really think so.]
Re: Video
That would be amicable. You might wish to stop consuming alcohol prior to meeting with the landlord. It would be unfortunate for them to deny us entry because you were intoxicated.
Re: Video
I'm not intoxicated, and I wasn't going to ask for a to-go mug. I take it you've got the map? I'll meet you there.
Video
I do not believe that bars offer alcohol to-go as it could enable drunk driving.
[...He couldn't help himself there. The man walked right into it.]
Yes, I have acquired all of the materials that were provided. I will begin walking to the Genessia Commons immediately.
Re: Video
[McCoy sets his jaw, grumbling before he's managed to turn the video off completely.]
Oh sure, now you joke. It's because there's no one around to see, isn't it?
[He shakes his head, clearly a little exasperated. The video turns to the ceiling before popping to black.]
Action
After the doctor's rude disconnection, Spock begins his dutiful march to the Commons reviewing what he's learned thus far and taking careful notes on his surroundings as her goes, cataloguing every last inch of it. After a reasonable amount of time he finds the building with ease; evidence to support that the information provided thus far was true. He's expecting McCoy to have beaten him there, but who knows if he actually left the bar when he said he did.]
Re: Action
McCoy is already there when Spock arrives though, the key he'd been given in his welcome kit in one hand. He had downed the rest of the drink, told the bartender he would definitely be back, and went right out the door.
He'd even, at this point, gotten confirmation that they just had to go to their rooms, and a general idea of where in the building they were. He lefts his head slightly in greeting when he finally sees Spock.]
About time man.
Re: Action
[He eyes the building. It leaves a bit to be desired, though he supposes he can't really hope for much more when it's free. Hopefully the paid housing options were a little nicer.]
Re: Action
[He headed inside of the building, not particularly waiting for a response. Spock would, presumably he didn't see anything exceptionally fascinating, follow. The room itself is reached with little trouble, and the room itself...well, for planet-side it wasn't much to look at but he'd seen worse sized quarters.]
Re: Action
Spock's room, while far from spectacular, is good enough. A bed, a small kitchen, and a bathroom. While it's not as spacious as he might like (he's not sure how but it's smaller than a crewman's cabin on the Enterprise), it certainly has all of the necessities. Satisfied to find the electric and the plumbing all work, he returns to McCoy's room. ]
The accommodations seem adequate, Doctor.
Re: Action
I don't know - I'd like something with a porch. [True as it was, he wasn't being serious.] But we shouldn't be here long.
Re: Action
[He stares at the doctor for a moment before curiosity gets the best of him.]
May I inquire as to why you desire a porch?
Re: Action
To sit on.
Action
I am in fact aware of the purpose of a porch, doctor. We did have them on Vulcan. I was referring to why a porch specifically.
Re: Action
Then you must not've actually used them if you don't get it. You sit and look out at the world. Feel the wind and the sun and have a damn moment's peace. Oh, but I forgot - you're allergic to that.
What's it matter to you if I want a porch anyway?
This is the one that if Lyrii isn't okay with just let me know!
I was merely curious as you what it was about a porch that you were attracted to. I will make a mental note to include a porch in our list of requirements for future living accommodations.
All is well!
Our list? [He seemed more confused than annoyed right now but he didn't let it last very long.] You're typically supposed to ask a guy before deciding you'll be moving in together.
Re: All is well!
It is the logical course of action. We must find a new residence within 30 days. It would be more cost effective for use to live together. Splitting up would be less wise until we discover more about this planet; we should maintain a close proximity.
I assure you, however, that the arrangement is less than ideal for me as well.
[ Okay, maybe he bristled a little. ]
