"Hehehe. I dunno what a Kokiri is but it's super cute." And with that said Koishi just... snatched the hat. And then placed her own on Link's head. It was a little lopsided by design, Link catching a glimpse of a scar above her left temple before it was covered again by the most heroic of caps.

Her third eye bobbed forward, closed, the arteries looping itself into a heart. "My name is Koishi Komeiji. It's nice to meet you!" Koishi you're supposed to say that before stealing people's hats. Or, in this case, swapping them.

"Hey--" Well, a trade was fair enough, he supposed. Skull kids didn't even give anything in return, so, this was actually a plus.

With his new hat, Koishi could probably see his hair is pulled back into a very short ponytail, keeping his hair off his neck. Link rubbed that neck as he tried to explain who the Kokiri were.

"Kokiri are the children of the forest. We're raised by the Great Deku Tree...or...we were. And we all have our own fairy companion...but, mine seems to have left me. Already...."

Of course, he wasn't actually a Kokiri, but, the boy didn't know that just yet. No one had told him he was adopted.

"Well I don't know what a Deku tree is but it sounds important! And I've met a lot of 'children of the forest' but they didn't look anything like you. I'm a spirit of the mountains myself. I love being high up and chasing deer and laying in the snow!"

She reached down to grab Link's hand. She had every intention of dragging him along with her. Possibly to ice cream. Sweets were always a good choice, right?

"We're here now. And that's fine too. I like it here. But we don't have any fairies around at all. Except in Fayren. Kind of. But they're not always very nice. Mister Spades thinks I'm a fairy but I'm absolutely not. He's a silly person."

"He's--he was--the Guardian of the Forest. And, I'm a little weird for a Kokiri, everyone says so. I mean, we all look pretty much the same, but, Mido says I'm weird."

This--this is familiar. Zelda did the same thing when they first met. So, he follows cheerfully.

"Fairies are a lot smaller," Link replied, demonstrating with his free hand.

"I know, right? Fairies are much smaller than I am!" Though Koishi wasn't very big. She couldn't have been much taller than 4 feet. "Also, it's not a bad thing to be weird. I think you're great!" And she meant it too.

They were quickly coming upon an ice cream stand, Koishi letting Link's hand go and zipping away to talk to the man who was in charge of it. Before Link could reach her she was already flying back with two paper cups and plastic spoons filled with strawberry ice cream with white-chocolate covered pop rocks on top.

It was her favorite.

"Here! This is for you! It crackles and it's really fun!" Well at least she warned him about the pop rocks.

"Th-thanks!"

Link peered at the ice cream and spoon. Both were equally foreign to the boy, but he gave the ice cream a little lick, getting a pop rock at the same time.

His eyes widened in shock as the candy crackled in his mouth. "Whoa!" He took another experimental lick. "That's really cool!" He was grinning from ear to ear as he continued to try and eat his new cold treat.

"Miss White showed me ice cream when I got here! So now I like to show other people ice cream and the crackle rocks because they are the best thing ever." She was eating with the spoon though. He might eventually notice and follow suit. Maybe.

"You can use the spoon to pick up more at a time though. Or else you might get some on your nose."

Link watched her use the spoon for a moment, before grabbing his own spoon awkwardly with his left hand. He lost more ice cream than he could get into his mouth with the utensil, but, seeing that she was able to use it smoothly, made him determined to learn.

Koishi was just beaming, lifting another big spoonful to her mouth and-

"Ack! Cold!" Brain freeze. Every single time.

She shook her head and blinked some, her thousand-watt grin returning soon enough. "You know what? I bet you would like it in Fayren. There's all sorts of interesting things there. And I live there too with my sister. She always seems grumpy but she's a big sweetheart when you get to know her."

"It is cold. How do they make it?"

Spoon. Who invented this thing, and why was it so hard to use? Link tried to copy how she held her spoon, but kept reverting to a closed fist around the handle.

"What's Fayren?"

"I dunno. I thought it was magic but Miss White says its not made with magic..." She frowned, looking down at it. I'm glad it was made though. It's really nice."

She was floating, slightly tilted, nibbling on the end of her spoon. "Oh! Fayren is a place. It's where all the magic and strange creatures are. If you like fairies then you'll probably like Fayren too. That's where I live. In the Chireiden subarchway. It's a nice place."

Link shifted his grip on the spoon, managing to get a proper grip on it this time. Pleased with himself, he took another bite.

"Are there lots of towns here?"

"Oh, umm. Kind of. There are five of them counting this one. But some are more like cities than towns. Also there are a few subarchway cities too. Tokyo is great. It reminds me of home... Though I suppose that isn't really a lot. They're just really big."

Koishi shifted back in the air into an almost sitting position, eating another big bite of ice cream. "You should explore it all though. There's lots of interesting things to do in all of the different cities. And the subarchways too!"

All of that did sound fun.

But...he was on a mission. And now he had no way to give Zelda the spiritual stones that were tucked inside his tunic. Not to mention the fact, Navi, his fairy partner hadn't come here with him.

"But...how do we get back home?"

"Umm..." Koishi paused at the question. "Well, I dunno. I've been here for at least three winters. I lose track of time easily. So yeah... Sometimes people just vanish though. So maybe they go home then. But I haven't vanished and I'm glad I haven't because I like being here."

"Three winters?!" Link nearly choked on his ice-cream. "I--I can't stay away that long, Zelda and I have to stop Ganondorf!"

What if she thought he hadn't collected the Spiritual Stones? Or worse, ran off? Why would someone take him away, when he had a very-important-mission from the Princess?

"Well, it's okay. We're sort of stuck in a time-bubble maybe. So being here puts the normal world on hold. Or something. I'm not sure how it works. No one here does. But I do know that the place we come from doesn't seem to be affected by us being here." Or they could be copies, but Koishi didn't say that. Not everyone was as okay with that idea as she was.

"Either way, you're here now and I'm sure you'll find something to do in the meantime. Maybe Zelda will show up?" Koishi tilted her head. "I showed up and then my sister showed up and things like that seems to happen a lot. In fact, a lot of new people have been showing up lately."

"You should come to Chireiden with me and big sis. I bet you would have fun there. She has lots of pets. Just be careful of Scribbles. He will try to steal shiny things out of your pockets and hide them."

Both would be reassuring.

Link's hand instinctively went to the pocket where he'd been keeping the Spiritual Stones. "Oh, man, I can't have these stolen..."

"Ohh. So you have important things? If you keep your pocket buttoned or have a little bag to keep them in then Scribbles can't get them. So it should be just fine."

She tugged on him again, flying in a direction and trying to get him to follow. She still had his hat...

"Come on though! You don't have to be nervous. Sis knows all the hiding places so if something happens she can find it for you. She's really good at it."

"I'm supposed to give them to the Princess."

Maybe Zelda would come here. How would he get her attention, though...

He grinned a little, distracted when Koishi tugged on his hand again, following her. "I'm not too nervous. Don't worry about me."

"Good. It's bad to be really nervous." Koishi was moving quite quickly, heading toward the Fayren archway. "I hope you like animals though. Because I bet they'll all love you."

Hopefully there weren't any chickens there...

"Yeah, I like animals! I met a girl with a ranch back home. And there's dogs everywhere in Castletown."

Should Link come across a cucco, he'd probably try to fly with it. By jumping off something.

Normal world chickens can't fly Link! Don't do it! But at the very least there are no wells and no tossing them in and accidentally casting Din's Fire.

"Good! Because I bet sis will love you. And the animals will love you. And also the youkai will too. Probably."

She was dragging him for quite a while and for quite a distance. But at least they were nearing the Fayren gate.

"I can pick you up if you get tired by the way."

"What're youkai?"

Link was fairly strong, but, he'd also traveled via giant owl before, so he wasn't too picky.

"I'm okay, uh, either way."

"Youkai are spirit-monster-demon-things. I'm a satori youkai. That means I'm psychic. I can't read minds anymore, but big sis can. I do other things psychically though."

She absolutely lit up when he agreed to fly. After all, flying is much faster. "Okay! Hold on tight!" Not that there would be much to hold onto. She zipped over to him, blue tendrils sliding from her sleeves and wrapping around his chest and shoulders- and they were off! Just like that!

Actually, she had a pretty good grip He wasn't going to fall no matter if he squirmed or not. But still, that wouldn't be any less startling!
