I - Darkness Event

Warnings: Possible deaths. Horror. Flames. Darkness. Lightning. Falling Debris. People falling off buildings.

I

From the highest building of Genessia city emerged a dark and unwavering light. It lifted up into the heavens. It brought with it obsidian smoke swirling around the light as if a shroud of darkness. In an instant the bright skies lost its light. Thick black clouds descended from the heavens. They tossed, tumbled and seemingly kissed the city's skyline. It was noon and yet the sun was no where in sight. With all light, it stole all happiness from people who saw the dreaded skies.

Loud booms, sizzles and crackles were heard beyond the clouds - as if a prelude to the coming event. This lasted a while before everything became hauntingly silent. Nothing could be heard. Everything, from the ground to the skies were silenced.

Waiting.

Aching.

And finally welcoming.

The skies glowed eerily. Dark hues of crimson, azure and silver lined certain portions of the skies. Then a white light glowed. A light which ripped through the space between ground and skies, leaving a crisp sound in its wake. The lightning bolt was strong enough to make the very ground quake at its presence. After a moment of silence, similar bolts of lightning hit different areas of the city. Continuously. Relentlessly.

Following the thunderstorms, came a foul stench raining from the skies. It smelt like rotten eggs. Suffocating. It was Burning Sulfur. With the stench came black flaming orbs which plummeted wantonly on the buildings of Genessia City. It burned anything it could get its hands on.

The terrible weather continued for at least five minutes after it had started. Never softening. Just ending abruptly after it had left most of the city in flames.

II

Not too long after the skies started to brighten, after people assumed a crude state of sanity, an ominous circle of light emerged on top of Genessia Hospital. For a few seconds, there was nothing but silence. But slowly, the circle of light expanded its terrain. Soon, it was large enough to cover the entire medical building. But still it remained silent. For people who have affinity for arcane magic, they can sense the power flowing through the circle - an energy devoid of any positive light.

A minute after the circle first appeared, the land beneath it started to quake. Every pillar and every wall shivering and threatening to fall. Then, the same fire storm that was released around the city was concentrated to fall upon the hospital building. A barrage of obsidian flames fell to the building one after another. Never stopping until the building itself hasn't fallen. After the building has crumbled the flames slowly dwindled into the bright glow of scarlet flames.

((OOC: Each part here comes after each part from Lucifer's Video Feed. So Part I from the feed comes before Part I of the Log. Each section here will be divided to sections deemed appropriate for the event. Any further questions can be addressed from the ooc-community post or from this journal. Fights Lucifer will get into are limited due to ic (after his little show, it'll be too much if he can still fight a horde of people) and ooc reasons (basically too many fights will drive me bananas).))

[Gildarts had just taken his stance when he heard the sound.]

'Bout time you showed up Natsu! Get t' eating, it's an all you can eat buffet!

[After greeting Natsu, he thrust his hand forward several times, twisting his hand as he did, dicing the chunk of ice Gray conjured into smaller and smaller bits until thousands of the crystals hung in the air.]

Now Wendy!

[ Wendy was relieved to see that Natsu help with the fire damage, while Gildarts continued with his attack, dicig the ice in small bits, an she prepared herself for an attack with her wind magic. ]

Yes! Sky Dragon's Wing Attack!

[ Creating the whirlwind twister the way that they were suggested, sending it directly at the ice chunks. ]

I think the replies are unanimous!!

[The strategy seemed to do well because as soon as the crystals melted, it fell onto the fire, weakening it, and then extinguishing it entirely. However, the roundabout method was only so effective. The intensity of the fire was the fact that the thunderstorm was causing more, in turn the fire would soon grow out of control again.]

Think there's a way to redirect the lightening?

[Or shield the city from it. Either was acceptable.]

It'd be a piece of cake if Laxus was around.

[Yes the fire eater had finished his snack and was already working some of the rubble out of the way]

I don't know if there's any others like her, but a girl I talked to a while back saved me from a strike on the way here. She could somehow redirect, absorb, and fire it back out.

[He turned his attention now to disassembling as much of the rubble as possible to help make moving it easier.]

Here's the weird part though... I couldn't sense any magic energy from her. I don't know if it's just this storm, or if it wasn't really magic....

Can we move the direction of the clouds?

[ Maybe the clouds that were hovering were the reason the thunderstorms were happening. It was really heavy and the clouds of thunderstorms only made the situation work. If only Laxus was here but Wendy did not know who Gildarts was talking about but if they could get her to help then it might alleviate their situation. ]

A-Ah....no magic...?

But he's not. [Sadly.

Gray glanced over to Gildarts briefly. He's gotten around to know that people from different worlds followed a different law than they did. Especially when it came to powers. At least that's how he understood it.]

Even if it's not magic, it's helpful. But if she can only redirect lightening within a certain perimeter, we won't be able to protect a whole town.

[To Wendy.] Do you think you could move them?

[explodewiththerage]

I know that. Hmmm maybe if we found a big big pillar of metal? Bolt face used that against Laxus' lightning. We could make sure the lightning doesn't hit the building again.

[He paused at the mention of a girl with no magic managing to redirect lightning.]

Really it's our best shot from the sound of things. Might as well call her.

Well, if worse comes to worse, I could always get up on top of a building or something.

[Using his arm as a lightning rod wasn't something he was keen on, but it was something that was an option....]

From what I saw, she had her hands full, but I'll give it a shot.

[The thunderstorm and firestorm were relentless. Some of the buildings in Genessia were strong enough, but most of them crumbled easily with each horrendous impact. One such 14-story building beside the group started crumbling and fell towards the road were the fairy tale guild was standing.

Can they avoid it?]

[As soon as he heard the noise, Gildarts looked up, and his eyes went wide. Crap. There was no avoiding that, and he had to act fast.]

Gray, get a dome up over you and Wendy, Natsu, you're with me.

[Without so much as another word, he aimed a magical blast down in order to launch himself upward far enough to clear whatever dome Gray put up, and began casting as many disassembly nets as he could, hoping that Natsu could blast as much of it away as possible. He did have to muse in the back of his mind that finally his ability to walk through buildings was going to come in handy.]

[ The Dragon Slayer replied giving Gray a brief nod. ]

Y-Yes if we can get her to help, it would be easier.

[ She replied giving them all a worried look. She could try to do things with her wind but it could only work so much. She didn't know how to control clouds but maybe the wind could move it briefly. ]

Ah-- Okay... I got it.

[ Wendy replied with her brows furrowed as she heard what Gildarts wanted. She made sure to shift her attention towards Gildarts. Wendy followed suit with the wind guiding her with Gildarts. ]

[Gray shifted his person to guard Wendy from the oncoming building should this strategy fail. As soon as Gildarts said the word, Gray immediately had an ice dome up to protect them.

The ice wouldn't be able to handle the pressure caused by the crumbling building, but he had faith in his comrades, and that they would be able to stop the lethal accident.]

[Natsu heard the groaning of the collapsing building as well and was already next to Gildarts after he said to follow him.]

Leave it to me!

[He was already taking in a deep breath to blast the rubble out of the way after being diced up by Gildarts' magic.

[Once he's satisfied that the rubble has been broken up into small enough bits to burn up in Natsu's flames, he shifts gears and begins launching blast after blast of force to send what Natsu doesn't burn up flying away from Gray and Wendy. Unfortunately, this knocks him off course in the air. Once he lands, he has a split second before what he didn't break down falls on him, but even then he's more concerned with protecting the others than saving himself. One last blast, and the rest of the building comes crashing down on him.]

[ She was grateful for the fact that Gray was defending her, but wasn't going to be her guildmates' burden. She fought to the best of her abilities to move some of the rubble as well, using swift and quick wind attacks. She checked over to see if Natsu was okay but she always trusted he would be. It was just in case something happened.

Wendy used the quick and sharp wind attacks to send the rubble flying in anther direction, though the heavier part of it would move as fast as she wanted, or at all. There was a surprised look on her face when Gildarts went in the way and and building came crashing down. ]

GILDARTS-SAN!

[Gray knew this was a risky gamble. Granted he was somewhat worried for Gildarts condition, but he doubted one of their strongest mages would be offed by a simple building.

His dome dissipated, at least now Wendy could tend to Gildarts if he needed any healing.]

Natsu, if you can get rid of the fire, I can reinforce the buildings so less of them fall.

[Natsu saw the building collapse on top of Gildarts however he of all people knew it'd take more than that to take his second father figure down. After all he was the man who survived the first encounter with Acnologia when he was on his own. Something like this had to be child's play. That was why he could trust wendy to take care of things on that end.

He turned to Gray after the ice mage had made his idea known.]

GEtting rid of the fire. Gotcha!

[ Natsu nodded and rushed over to the biggest cluster of flames and began to suck them up like a vacuum.]

[There was a moment of stillness from the building before a massive amount of magical power was unleashed. Half a second later, the top of the rubble that had covered Gildarts blew up in a geyser of white power. A couple seconds after that, Gildarts himself pulled himself out of the nice neat hole he'd carved for himself.]

Everyone okay?

[ Wendy had assisted with Gildarts by blowing the small pieces away with her Sky Dragon's Wind attacks, slicing through them and turning them to tiny dust specks, while others were being moved out of the general direction of the group that was currently working its way through the building.

She then rushes over to Gildarts checking for injuries while trusting Gray and Natsu to keep going while she tended to Gildarts. ]

I'm fine Gildarts-san. Are you hurt? Natsu-san and Gray-san are still working on the rest.

[The fix would be temporary at best, but with this approach, it would buy them more time for those helping people escape from said buildings.

As soon as the fire was relinquished by Natsu, Gray was quick to put up pillars of ice on each corner as well as support beam-ice braces to keep the upper levels from toppling over. He was cautious not to block the windows with ice so that they could still be uses as a means of escape.]

[As expected of Gildarts. Natsu didn't flinch this time feeling that burst of power but it was definitely a bit familiar to that force he felt during the S class exam.]

Told ya he'd be alright.

[With that Natsu charged into the building ahead of the rest, extinguishing fires in passing on his way towards any stranded people still inside.]

[Gildarts nods, reigning in his aura as he allows Wendy to inspect for herself as he watches Natsu and Gray work.]

Hey, I lived through being Acnologia's chew toy. Gonna take a bit more than this to do me in.

[Once Wendy was satisfied, Gildarts would turn his attention to creating a hole in the now rather large pile of rubble blocking the road.]

[ She was happy to see he was mostly uninjured. She trusted that Gildarts would be okay, but it was only natural for her to worry for them regardless of injuries or not. Once, satisfied when she was able to fix what she could, she pulled away and nodded her head. ]

Yes, of course. I'm glad you're alright, Gildarts-san.

[ There was a pause before she added. ]

I'm going in.

[ She pointed to the path that Natsu had cleared his way into the building. Without much worry, she dashes on after Natsu. ]

[Other than expending a portion of his energy each time he helped stabilized a building, Gray was working efficiently enough. At pace he and Natsu were going, this would be over before the end of today.

Upon noticed some individuals near windows, the ice mage quickly formed a slide for them to use in order to reach ground level.

The group would have to be careful of the lightening strikes that nearly struck them. Some of which undoing the effort they were pouring into this plan.]

This storm is getting in the way.
