[ It's impossible to tell what's going on at first - the video feed seems to be whirling about rapidly, the audio picking up nothing but the sound of rushing air. The motion stops briefly as a hand darts into view, only to begin the process anew - anyone sharp enough to figure it out will realize the person on the other end is literally tossing their video phone up into the air repeatedly, catching it just to toss it again. It's after about thirty seconds of this that it finally stops entirely, giving a view of nothing but a pair of boots... boots which seem to have some weapon-like attachments.

A long, melodramatic sigh... ]

Well! This is a pain, isn't it.

[ A brief flip of the videophone reveals Mercury's face, wearing a relatively unfazed smirk. ]

Don't waste your breath explaining what's going on - I've done my homework. I guess all I have to say is that you can call me Mercury, and... let's all get along, mmkay?

[ There's a widening of his smirk into a grin, and it's hard to tell whether he's being mocking or genuine in his greeting. ]

--Ah, and if I'm not mistaken, I think I even sort of know some of you. Lucky me! Us trainees gotta stick together.

[She gives a casual toss of her hand as she stands up from her mechanic's work -- a rusty car tilting severely to the left.]

Charmed. You... [ he squints, peering at her handiwork ] ... You have your work cut out for you, there.

[ After seeing Blake and Yang comment, Weiss realizes that he must be someone from one of the other Academies. From the time slightly after how much she remembers. Weiss made a mental note to definitely go get that fixed as soon as she could get everything here under wraps. ]

Just so we're clear: if I already know you, I don't remember you. If we haven't actually met, I'm Weiss.

[ He quirks an eyebrow slightly - though he'd "done his homework" the whole memory issue was still relatively foreign. He'll need to look into that more later.

For now he'll simply gasp, clapping a hand over his mouth in overdramatic shock. ]

Could it be? The Weiss Schnee, taking the time to greet a lowbrow commoner such as myself? I can hardly contain myself!

[Ruby is still very new here, so she's slowly gathering information about this place. The communication device doesn't seem to be too hard to get used to, besides the differences between it and the scroll they have.]

I don't think I've gotten your name yet but... I'm Ruby and I've seen you around back in Beacon.

[ Hrm! His lips tug to one side, eyes narrowing slightly as if trying to recall something. ]

Aren't you the one who collided with my teammate in the hallway?
