[ Video ]
[ Ferris was a bright young woman. It didn't take her long to figure things out, with the pamphlet she was provided. Figuring out the videophone took a little longer, but when she did manage to cue up a recording, the face of a beautiful blonde woman showed on the display. Her face, on the other hand, showed little to no expression as she began to speak. ]
Prior to my arrival in this place, I traveled with a man. My partner, Ryner Lute. He is an unrepentant sex fiend who lures women of all ages into his clutches, and discards them with nary a thought. I must know if such a person is in this place, immediately.
[ Because he's her important friend and she'll tear the head off anyone who lays a finger on him. She spent a long time searching for him, refusing to believe he was dead - ]
More importantly, I also wish to know the location of the nearest dango shops. [ She's sure whatever shops there are here will be subpar to the Wynnit dango shops, but she was willing to have an open mind in the matter. ]
[ Action ]
[ Shortly after making her post, she resumed her search through the Bay, passing a brief glance into some of the pods, finding most empty. Most, save for one. The familiar figure sleeping away had her breath a quiet sigh of relief, reassured by his presence. He was all right. For a second her mind stole back to the last memory she had, when she finally found him after nearly desperatelu searching, the embrace, and his arms around her - she shook her head slightly. Enough of that. Time 0to greet him in the usual fashion. ]
Oi, Ryner. Wake up.
[ Yes Ryner, wake up to the sight of your favorite bully as she hefted her godkilling sword above her head, then started to swing it down at the pod he's sleeping in, not even giving him a chance to start to wake up. She was confident he would be awake and dodge the strike in time. It's cool. Incidentally anyone in the area are of course free to come across the pair. ]

[Action]
It's not problem. You were only trying to warn us in time.
[He smiles encouragingly before turning serious.]
We will certainly take your advice. Thank you for letting us stay the night.
[Still he needs a bit more. Luckily all he needs is information.]
These monsters you mentioned. What can you tell us about them?
[Action]
Demons... demons that walk the night they are.. [ Charles shuddered slightly. ] Inhuman things that shouldn't exist. Werewolves, spectres.. even vampires..
[.. hopefully not the sparkling kind. But Ferris glanced towards Charles as he speak, then towards Ryner. ]
[Action]
Demons, vampires, werewolves huh.
[He ponders for a moment before moving on to the next question.]
And these creatures. Were they always here or is it recent.
[Action]
[ Charles looked thoughtful for a moment, shaking his head, ]
Wasn't recent. They've been here for even longer than I have - our folks used to warn us about going out at night. Said that the monsters would snatch up anyone foolish enough to risk it. The werewolves might be the worst though. If you get bitten by one, you'll turn into one quick as that.
[Action]
So it's always been like this. Then how come you still live here?
[Ah yes werewolves. The folktales said something about the bite turning people.]
So the old fairy tales were true.
[Action]
[ Their friendly benefactor looked a bit sheepish at that question. ]
I ask myself that every day. Sure it'd be easier to move somewhere else, but this place's always been my home. Leaving just don't seem right. Besides, if you're smart about it you can peck out a decent living around here. Usually..
[Action]
[He sighs and looks over out the window.]
So that's just how this place is. I wonder if it's like this if we go through the other three gateways too.
[Action]
Exactly so. Can't say as i know about the other places.. I've never been further than my village here.
[ The click of several locks follow as Ferris started to open the door, only to jump in surprise when Leon immediately pushed it shut again, shaking his head. ]
You can't seriously think to go out there after we warned you about those things? Those monsters would tear you both up in seconds!
[ Don't laugh too hard, kay Ryner? ]
[Action]
[ANd then Ferris cuts him to the chase. He sighs with a wry smirk and pats Leon on the shoulder.]
Honestly you should be more worried for these monsters. We're pretty strong. Especially her. She's got a stupid amount of power and skill. Thanks for the advice though.
[Action]
Much appreciated - thanks. To both of you.
[ He'd have cautioned the two from going outside too, if Ryner hadn't spoken up on the matter. And..well, Ferris would have gone outside regardless so. Leon exchanged a glance with Charles, convinced that they were going to find a pair of dead strangers in the morning, and then glanced after Ferris. Tsk. Such a waste. ]
If you say so, Mr. Lute.
[ Ferris gave a brief nod to the two men inside, before stepping out into those foggy foggy streets, waiting for Ryner to join her. Nothing out there with an insane amount of killing intent, but there -were- numerous presences lurking just on the edge of town. More than likely the 'monsters' Charles mentioned. ]
They're there.
[ She briefly debates teasing him about his skills slacking in time he'd been lounging around in the prison, but... she had the strangest sense that there was something different about him. ]
[Action]
[Ryner quickly joins Ferris out in the open and turns his head over his shoulder for a brief moment.]
Don't open the door no matter what you hear.
[After all explosions and lots of fighting always draw a crowd. He looks back to Ferris.]
How many can you feel?
[He's already drawing up the array for Izuchi and keeping it ready within reach of his hand.]
[Action]
[ Ferris glanced over her shoulder as the door was closed and the locks fell in place again, then drew her attention towards Ryner. ]
Five. Three more lurking further back.
[ But five or eight, she was clearly of the opinion that they were hardly going to be an issue for them, striking out to the edge of the town back towards the gates. Leaning down briefly, she scooped a small rock from the ground. After a moment's speculation, she pulled her fist back and hurled the missile forward, it impacting just to the left of a bush hard enough to send up a spray of dirt, and startling two of the creatures into jumping out of their cover.
[ They aren't your average fluffy death machines either, but beastial creatures resembling wolves, if wolves stood on two legs, blood clumping their matted hair further and bodies covered with scars. Their legs and arms seemed too long for them to boot, but it gave them an added reach when charging against an enemy. ]
[Action]
Hmmm those three might be the most problematic. After all they're not stupid enough to come close to you.
So lets start things off with a bang. What I seek is thunder. Izuchi!
[He pointed the array at the first creature to jump out of cover. Immediately a bolt of lightning erupted from the glowing pattern and struck at the beast's head.]
What the crap I never got this alert >.<! DAMN YOU Dreamwidth! *shakes fist*
Their hesitation will not protect them. [ One of the werewolves lunged at her, and was bisected in seconds for its effort. She was more interested with the ones at the back though, legs tensing to clear the line of werewolves rushing forward. ]
I leave them to you, Ryner!
[ Good luck partner! She's already somersaulting over the first line of defense to take on the ones at the back. Such great teamwork. Much synchronized. ]
[ The poor werebeast that leapt out of cover takes a bolt of lightning to the face and goes tumbling back with a howl of pain and singed fur, wounded but not downed fully yet. The remaining werewolves were used to dealing with magic wielders by now, and as such are more cautious, their heavy steps moving them to circle around the wizard. ]
I was wondering if that was the case. Any way last for the night from me
As if anything could. I almost feel bad for them.
[No he doesn't When the werewolves start circling around him he conjures another spell]
"I offer up this contract to bear the spirit of the wicked beast that sleeps within the earth"
[Immediately there are ghostlike white glows around his feet and now he moves with startling speed, zig zagging towards the first were wolf until he could put his hand on the werewolf's shoulder.]
Canceling the werewolf's equation.
[As soon as he muttered those words, the arm of the were wolf was blasted clean off the stump dissolving into sand. A power that used to be the signal of his Alpha Stigma going out of control again. But this was different. There was no red glow around his eyes. Even the symbol in his irises was different in structure as a rainbow like glow radiated from them.]]
Yus~!
The werewolves clamp their jaws on thin air when their target is suddenly moving faster than he was a minute ago. The first werewolf, still getting to its feet, snarls at the hand on its shoulder - at least snarls until it's freaking arm is blasted clean off jeebus! Mind the blood Ryner, it's all over the place! Ferris always catches sight of this display, frowning slightly in the midst of her own battle. Oh she has questions for him - but that'll come later. ]

[He says as he eyes his own hand briefly. That time on the battlefield he wanted to erase Alpha so of course shrinking the radius would have rendered it ineffective. He's snapped out of his ponderings by an angry swip from another of the werewolves from behind. He immediately jumps into the air and traces another array.]
"What I seek is the burning field, Kurenai!"
[A gout of flame gushes forward immediately enveloping hte reckless werewolf filling the night sky with its pained howling.]
no subject
[ THe few werewolves remaining - well the ones not already dispatched by Ferris, who was sitting on a pile of their carcasses, watching like Ryner is her daily entertainment -- wait, he is -- decide that maybe attacking the mage one at a time isn't the brightest idea. Thus the remaining two exchange a few growls, before they both lunge forward, clawing at Ryner in an attempt to overwhelm him. SURELY some weak glass cannon mage won't be able to stop them BOTH, right? ]
no subject
I guess you're too far gone to register fear. In which case I'll just have to put you out of your misery.
[As he says that, his eyes flash in that familiar color from before. The next moment he jumps forward and into the air and points his hand palm first at the two were wolves.]
Like this I don't have to worry about collateral.
[Those are the last words the werewolves hear as the light erupts from his hand in a wider cone this time, envolping the two Werewolves in its light and turning their bodies into a material close to sand that is just blown away by even the faintest of winds.]
no subject
The poor werewolves- oh man, they don't even have a chance to howl out in pain or anything. They're just... completely and utterly obliterated until there's nothing left, except for the sudden silence and the faint wind that wisks away the sandy remains of the werewolves. ]
no subject
Aaaah I kept it on for too long huh? Guess I got carried away testing things out.
[He turns over to Ferris with a wry smile.]
I see you're done on your end too. Though I suggest you get off of that pile. I want to burn the remains so these people don't have to deal with the cleanup.

The smell is unpleasant, Make it quick, Ryner. I can't enjoy my tea this way.
[ That's right manservant, hurry it up! She set the cup aside, getting off of the furry bodies and strolling a few feet away, keeping her senses alert for any creatures to follow. FOrtunately after the display of power from Ryner (and violence from Ferris) the beasties were keeping their distance now, if not straight up avoiding them. ]
no subject
When did you-... You know never mind. I'll be done with this quick.
[Ryner rolled his eyes and started drawing the symbol for Kurenai. However Ferris did say she wants him to hurry so he decided to modify the spell a little at its structural level. So after reciting a personal incantation, the flames to erupt from his hands were blue, immediately devouring the corpses of the werewolves. He watches the mock funeral pyre keeping an eye on the flames so they don't start a village fire.]

Ready?

Yeah I think so. We should move out before we draw any more unwanted attention on these poor folk.
