[ Video ]
[ Ferris was a bright young woman. It didn't take her long to figure things out, with the pamphlet she was provided. Figuring out the videophone took a little longer, but when she did manage to cue up a recording, the face of a beautiful blonde woman showed on the display. Her face, on the other hand, showed little to no expression as she began to speak. ]
Prior to my arrival in this place, I traveled with a man. My partner, Ryner Lute. He is an unrepentant sex fiend who lures women of all ages into his clutches, and discards them with nary a thought. I must know if such a person is in this place, immediately.
[ Because he's her important friend and she'll tear the head off anyone who lays a finger on him. She spent a long time searching for him, refusing to believe he was dead - ]
More importantly, I also wish to know the location of the nearest dango shops. [ She's sure whatever shops there are here will be subpar to the Wynnit dango shops, but she was willing to have an open mind in the matter. ]
[ Action ]
[ Shortly after making her post, she resumed her search through the Bay, passing a brief glance into some of the pods, finding most empty. Most, save for one. The familiar figure sleeping away had her breath a quiet sigh of relief, reassured by his presence. He was all right. For a second her mind stole back to the last memory she had, when she finally found him after nearly desperatelu searching, the embrace, and his arms around her - she shook her head slightly. Enough of that. Time 0to greet him in the usual fashion. ]
Oi, Ryner. Wake up.
[ Yes Ryner, wake up to the sight of your favorite bully as she hefted her godkilling sword above her head, then started to swing it down at the pod he's sleeping in, not even giving him a chance to start to wake up. She was confident he would be awake and dodge the strike in time. It's cool. Incidentally anyone in the area are of course free to come across the pair. ]

[Action]
Alright then.
[That was when they arrived in front of the gateway to the first city.]
Ladies first?
[Though he doesn't really think Ferris classifies as a lady in full.]
[Action]
[ That's okay, she doesn't consider herself a proper Lady either. Well, unless it suits her in one of her bizarre scenarios during Ferris-playtime/Ryner-bullytime. She eyed the gate warily first, and then stepped through. The atmosphere as she moved from Genessia City to Everglade was more or less immediate. Genessia City was far, FAR more welcoming than this place.
Actually, it reminded her of the villages back home in a fashion. ]
Interesting.
[ Being able to move place to place like that. Though as far as getting answers, it might be a fair bit more difficult. With strangers about, some of the villagers may just shut their doors and wait for them to pass. ]
Ah. A message.
[ That being said, she shifted her grip on the video phone, taking a step or two away. And a girl was the first to respond. Clearly she had to warn her of the pervert next to her. ]
[Action]
This isn't what I was expecting.
Seems it'll be harder to get some answers than I hoped.
Her Ferr-
[ANd that's when he finally hears her talking to another on the device.]
[Action]
[ Oops, he spotted her talking on the device. She looked up, tilting her head slightly. ]
Did you want something, Ryner.
[ She's on the phone, god. So rude. Also how -were- they going to get information when the locals were hiding in their houses. Maybe they should go door to door? ]
[Action]
Do I want something? Do I want something? Well since you're asking there is one small tiny request.
[He moves up closer.]
STOP SPREADING LIES ABOUT ME!
[Action]
Leaving that aside...
[ She glanced towards her left, where their bickering had drawn out the curious presences of one or two locals, neither sure if they should slam the door shut and bolt it, or wonder if bloodshed would fall again soon. ]
[Action]
Alright alright. But this isn't the end of it. I'll spread the rumors of how much of a dango fanatic you are!
[He stalks away from the blonde and walks up to one of the houses looking as nonthreatening as he can manage. He's not unsympathetic towards the obvious plight of these people. After all a good portion of his childhood before the Roland Military took him in to train him into their lethal attack dog was spent in a village of scavengers that made a living off of the desolated killing fields, stripping armor and weapons off of the fallen soldiers and selling it off for coin.]
[Action]
If only there were such a thing. [ You can NEVER have enough dangos. In fact, she could appreciate the treats -more- if anything. ]
[ In any case, she watched Ryner approach the house, following at a safe distance since she knew he at least was somewhat more approachable than she was. And neither local was female, so she didn't see the need to cause blunt trauma to his head. The man tensed when Ryner approached, looking like he might slam the door shut again, but instead he called out in a shakey voice. ]
Don't come any closer, stranger-- what do you want from us?
[Action]
There is.
[He rolls his eyes and stops when the man suddenly confronts him.]
Easy. Easy my good man. We've only arrived in this place a few minutes ago. Woke up in some kind of bay then stepped through the first gate that was closest. We thought of asking people about what is going on.
[Action]
[ The man relaxed a little, letting the door ease open a bit more. ]
I.. I see. It's.. not safe to be on the streets around here. Things come out at night, here.
[Action]
Things come out at night? You mean like monsters or just the regular bad guys?
[Regardless it sure reminds him of home a bit. Especially once Roland started using those damn modified experimental soldiers.]
[Action]
Aren't m-monsters enough? Aah... look, I really shouldn't be doing this, but...
[ The man pushed the door open wider, looking around wildly and shooing the other boy who'd been peering through the window away from it. He cast Ferris a cautious glance, even as he was ushering Ryner inside. ]
Is... that woman with you, too?
[ Don't mind Ferris, she's studying the things they woke up with. And making up stories to troll people with, including you. ]
[Action]
Just covering all the bases. We didn't have all that many monsters back in Roland.
[Before the mad hero started making his moves through Sion that is.]
You mean the Dango Zealot? Yes she's with me.
[He looks over to Ferris and sees if she follows before stepping into the man's humble home. Things were definitely complicated if they had to speak indoors.]
[Action]
My name is Charles. That's my brother Leon. [ The man introduced himself, as his brother proceeded to close and bolt the shutters. If they meant ill, a locked door or window was hardly going to contain either of them, mind. But it was enough to keep the evil outside at bay. ]
[Action]
Nice to meet the two of you. My name is Ryner and this is my...partner, Ferris.
[He points to the blonde beauty keeping here eye out for trouble.]
[Action]
Charles scratched behind his head, looking a little calmer now that they were indoors. ]
Nice to meet you both. Sorry about before, but.. like I said. Not safe at night.
[ A pause. ] Well, the town is usually safe enough, actually. It's been a while since there was any attack here. It's what lies outside town that's the problem. Probably for the best that you don't stay long. Wouldn't be right to make you leave now, but come morning you should probably be on your way.
[Action]
It's not problem. You were only trying to warn us in time.
[He smiles encouragingly before turning serious.]
We will certainly take your advice. Thank you for letting us stay the night.
[Still he needs a bit more. Luckily all he needs is information.]
These monsters you mentioned. What can you tell us about them?
[Action]
Demons... demons that walk the night they are.. [ Charles shuddered slightly. ] Inhuman things that shouldn't exist. Werewolves, spectres.. even vampires..
[.. hopefully not the sparkling kind. But Ferris glanced towards Charles as he speak, then towards Ryner. ]
[Action]
Demons, vampires, werewolves huh.
[He ponders for a moment before moving on to the next question.]
And these creatures. Were they always here or is it recent.
[Action]
[ Charles looked thoughtful for a moment, shaking his head, ]
Wasn't recent. They've been here for even longer than I have - our folks used to warn us about going out at night. Said that the monsters would snatch up anyone foolish enough to risk it. The werewolves might be the worst though. If you get bitten by one, you'll turn into one quick as that.
[Action]
So it's always been like this. Then how come you still live here?
[Ah yes werewolves. The folktales said something about the bite turning people.]
So the old fairy tales were true.
[Action]
[ Their friendly benefactor looked a bit sheepish at that question. ]
I ask myself that every day. Sure it'd be easier to move somewhere else, but this place's always been my home. Leaving just don't seem right. Besides, if you're smart about it you can peck out a decent living around here. Usually..
[Action]
[He sighs and looks over out the window.]
So that's just how this place is. I wonder if it's like this if we go through the other three gateways too.
[Action]
Exactly so. Can't say as i know about the other places.. I've never been further than my village here.
[ The click of several locks follow as Ferris started to open the door, only to jump in surprise when Leon immediately pushed it shut again, shaking his head. ]
You can't seriously think to go out there after we warned you about those things? Those monsters would tear you both up in seconds!
[ Don't laugh too hard, kay Ryner? ]
[Action]
[ANd then Ferris cuts him to the chase. He sighs with a wry smirk and pats Leon on the shoulder.]
Honestly you should be more worried for these monsters. We're pretty strong. Especially her. She's got a stupid amount of power and skill. Thanks for the advice though.
