Erza waited outside, umbrella in hand, eager to greet her guests. The clouds overhead were ready to burst but the weather appeared to be holding for the moment. It wasn't exactly the day Erza had been hoping for when she'd planned this get-together but she wasn't going to let it slow her down. Various finger foods and deserts, along with barrels of non-alcoholic beverages, had already been brought over from the town and set out for the guests. All of it was graciously paid for with the money they had earned from helping Wily with his election campaign.

A makeshift grill, originally erected for the now postponed pool party, had been set up in the back yard for a barbeque. To Erza it almost felt like they were welcoming another guild into their new home. Indeed Ruby and her friends had proven themselves to be good people in her eyes, so today was as much for Fairy Tail as it was to thank their new friends for helping them transition into this new world.

Last week, concerns were expressed in the local newspaper that the weather might be too wet and gloomy for a charm quest. But those concerns were way off.

It was too wet and hellishly windy. Hopefully everyone dressed warm!

At the foot of the mountain, Imelda's tent looked like it was going to be blown away at any moment. The tethers that held it down creaked ominously, and the tent itself leaned hard with the howling winds that whipped at the cheap canvas and gaudy trappings. Even Imelda was starting to get a headache with her little bells and chimes clanging noisily non-stop. But a job was a job, and the fortune teller had to at least look like she'd expected this.

She hadn't, but that was beside the point.

Imelda huddled in front of her crystal ball, her wide shoulders buried in silks and furs. A portable heater was fastened under her table to keep her slipper-clad feet warm as she waited for the participants to approach. Ten men, ten women. It was almost like fate! Except one of the men was technically a robot, but he had 'Man' as part of his name, so it totally counts.

"Come come, children, hurry in! One person at a time! --No, not you ladies, stay out there." Bitch. "Come, and I will tell you the name of your soulmate who will guide you unharmed to the top of the mountain!" Or just whoever she decided to secretly ship that person with.

[OOC: Two threads below! One is for getting your partner assigned, one is for actually scaling the mountain. Each pair starts at a different point, and will be warped there after consulting with Imelda. Unless I really am psychic, no one is matched with their soulmate. Imelda sucks. But you have an opportunity to get a charm if you either A. Find your true ship which will result in a clear path and no monsters at all, or B. Fight to the top, defeat all the monsters, and kiss your partner like whoa. Some of you may get a boss fight if you say you're okay with one, but it's not guaranteed. Players can otherwise NPC the monsters and obstacles they face. Those who succeed each get an Everglade charm. Only those who signed up for the quest are allowed to participate, but anyone is welcome to show up and cheer/jeer on their favorite "couples". Those who would rather stay at home and watch the events on TV may do so, as it will be televised.]

[Blair begins to lick one paw and then suddenly stops. Her tone of voice is much more enthusiastic now]

Hey, if we find a place that's filled with delicious fish and good looking boys then I want to stay there!

[Suddenly a burst of purple smoke obscures the camera lens. When it clears there sits an incredible looking woman. Large breasts, small waist, cute face. She leans closer to the camera—perhaps a little too close.]

Does anyone wanna play with me?

[Blake shows up on the comm network leaning back against a wall with one arm wrapped around her ribs, wincing as she looks over her shoulders. She looks like a mess, scuffed up and battered looking. She glances once over her shoulder before turning her attention to the communicator.]

If anybody's free at the moment... I think I could use a ride.

[Her voice is a little strained, but anybody who knows her well enough can probably tell that means she's hurting worse than she's letting on.]

[ So, the excitement is over for now, and Lucy -wishes- she could say it was a new experience for her, but no. She was in Fayren, having left a quick note for Erza and Natsu (or caught up with one or the other) on her way out of town to pick her way to a spot to train and see where she was compared to where she had been. Through the city, every communicator screamed out a deafening alert, which was followed by the voice of the AI.

“CORRUPTED ELEMENTS DETECTED. PLEASE ASSIST IN PURGING IN ORDER TO ENSURE THE CONTINUED SURVIVAL OF THE CITY AND ITS INHABITANTS”

[Believe her, if she had a choice, she would not be calling for help. But she's tried everything, and she can't fly anymore, or shapeshift out of this mess, and trying to darg herself anywhere resulted in carpet burn which not only hurt like Glob, but made the already itchy scales hit a maddening level of itchy. she can't even reach water to stop them itching.

Though, it's audio for a reason - she's too embarrassed about the fact that she's stuck and that she now has the tail of a fish to show herself straight away. Mermaids are cool and all.... but not when she is one.]

[When Ruby pops up on the video screen today she's a whole more serious than she normally does. Her sister is missing and she's gone into "Leader" mode for the moment. Ain't no one got time for silliness right now.]

My sister Yang hasn't been seen or heard from since the New Years Party a couple days ago. If anyone has any information on where she might be, please speak up about it.

That said, I'm putting together a search party to try and get and track her down, anyone interested can either respond to me here or meet me in the lobby of Tupelo Alley in next two hours.

[It takes him a while to post anything, having taken the time to read the pamphlet through several times before even exiting the pod. He stands just outside the exit to the Bay when he starts up his device.]

This is indeed most troubling. I assume if there is anyone I am familiar with here, the sound of my voice should be enough to alert them to my presence. That said, I would appreciate being contacted at your earliest convenience.

[He clicks the device off and swings his cane to rest on his shoulder as he sets off in search of a coffee shop.]

[Lie Ren awakens in the pod, and takes stock of the situation. Strange place, box, water, kind of beach area. How very, very strange. He opens the box and finds the pamphlet and reads that over a few times, digesting all the information and making sure he hadn't missed anything, before getting out and walking to the beach with the box in his hands. Before he makes his way into the city proper, but after dusting himself down however, he makes a brief broadcast on the audio channel.

Even that isn't spoken into immediately after being switched on.]

...This pamphlet did not tell me everything. [It doesn't take a genius. Who would be brought here with 'no method of return' and there be no ulterior motive?] This is a request for any further information. [And that's it. And even so, it's probably still more than his fellow students heard from him in a day. But seriously, he has little choice, there's more than he's been given and it wouldn't do to go strolling blindly into danger at all.

Which is why, as he walks to the town, you may catch him walking through. He's not tensed up and ready to fight the first thing that comes along, but he's wary. Though, the main sign of that is just how his eyes move from side to side, taking things in as he walks.]

[Blake pops up on the screen looking more than a little concerned. And why shouldn't she be? Her partner has been missing for an entire day and night now, something very much not like her, and Blake is starting to fear the worst.]

Yang, if you can hear this, answer me. Ruby's worried sick.

[She sighs, pausing for a moment.]

he did not think he would wake in such a place, the last he remembered he was in the white fang headquarters. it was anything but a pleasant surprise to find out that he was no longer in remnant, no longer with other faunus.

the faunus always had an awful temper, but this was ridiculous. of course, he decided to use the blasted device he was given, just as instructed.]
