GENESSIA PROM!

I - SETUP (12:00pm-5:00pm)

For any and all who agreed to help with the decorations, this would be the time to gather at the Hotel. A large list of assignments will be posted on the wall near the entrance, with duties including but not limited to:

1. Setting Tables, including placement of centerpieces
2. Wall and ceiling decorations, involving a lot of gossamer drapery and lights
3. Preparing the buffet table, with a mixture of hot and cold foods, as well as a separate table at the end for delectable deserts
4. Getting all necessary equipment on stage for the Live Band to perform. Sound Checks may occur throughout.
5. A side dressing room area set up exclusively for those who volunteered to take the time to get ready themselves, including special hair and makeup stations and a large rack to hang their dresses & shoes to change into later

II - HOTEL LOBBY (6:30pm onward)

Cozy and luxurious in its own right, those who arrive before Prom is scheduled to begin will be allowed to lounge in the Hotel Lobby for a spell. Meeting and greeting other early birds and partaking in a select few hors d'oeuvre made available while waiting for the doors to open

III. - PROM PHOTOS!

In the far corner of the lobby, a cute backdrop will be set up, ready for any and all couples/groups/brave souls going stag for the evening to take a memorable photograph! Selfies are welcome throughout, but for those desiring a more professional setup, Hikari Yagami will be on hand for the first and last hours of the night for "official" Prom Photos.

IV - EATING/DRINKING

With a "bar" consisting of 90% nonalcoholic beverages--the remaining ten percent reserved for of age chaperones--and a buffet table spanning the length of the side wall, there will be no shortage of food options that night! Hot pasta dishes, cold sandwiches, fruits, vegetable platters, and a special end section devoted to some of the best sweets Genessia's bakeries have to offer!

Of course, what prom would be complete without the traditional Fruit Bowl Punch? Better get a sip in early, though...because some traditions never die, and it's not like those in charge can keep an eye on that bowl the entire night, can they?

V. - DANCE FLOOR

With a live band (Thank you, Professor!) ready to rock, you'll soon be dancing the night away, under ethereal decorations that will really make you feel like you're dancing among the stars!

In between sets, there will be a DJ spinning a mixture of slow dances, crowd favorites, and songs that'll really get the party rockin' (~~LMFAO style~~).

VI. - CHAPERONES

Because somebody's got to make sure the kids behave.

Hopefully actual adults who can behave themselves.

VII. - MINGLING/MISC.

What other shenanigans could the teens and tweens of Genessia possible get up to? The night is young, and so are they~

Prompto hadn't known he would be assigned the ball, and he hadn't told her, but then again it just hadn't crossed his mind to point it out to her. He didn't normally tell her about his assignments.

"Oh, hello Belle." He offered her a warm smile. "I didn't know I was going to be sent here. You look really beautiful."

She looked away though and he fiddled with the strap of his camera absently.

"...What's wrong? Are you not having fun?"

Her lips press together and she gently shook her head. The feeling was there, pressing against her chest and Belle found it hard to breath, hard to figure out exactly what she wanted to say. She's never had anything like this happen before.

"No it's just. Prom is an event you're supposed to go to with a date. To dance with and spend the evening with and-" She paused, gently chewing at her lower lip. "I don't have one."

"I know. That's why I didn't go to mine but uh-"

It dawned on him that she didn't have a date because he wasn't available to take her and he exhaled.

"I'm sorry. I was supposed to be working. I mean, I am working, I just didn't know it was gonna be here and...and I didn't know you wanted to go."

Prompto was beginning to feel that he seriously screwed something up.

Belle shook her head. "I'm sorry. I didn't have time to talk about it with you but... I did want to go, only, with you." Her fingers curled against the beautiful silky folds of her dress.

"I was told that it's the men who traditionally ask the women to these sorts of things. I didn't want to over step." It was a tradition that she was used too and with confidence she'd thought it was worth waiting for him.

It'd been her mistake.

Belle felt the moisture gather at the corner of her eyes. "I'm sorry. I should leave you to your work."

"That makes sense, no, yeah I know." Prompto wasn't entirely sure what to make of this, because he hadn't realized he'd screwed up in the first place and it was like being blindsided with something that he should have known.

Of course she'd wanted him to ask her because he was dating her. He should've thought of it.

He hadn't.

"I...yeah, traditionally it's like that. It's not- you wouldn't have been and I didn't..." He exhaled. She looked really upset and it was his fault.

"J-Just a second. Please?"

He held up his hands, to ask her to wait for him to at least explain himself, but she may not give him that opportunity, and he knew that. He would understand.

Belle hesitated and then turned back towards Prompto. She was holding back her tears but there was no hiding the glassy look in her usually bright brown eyes.

She listened but he wasn't making a lot of sense.

Belle focused on breathing, exhaling and inhaling in a slow steady rhythm. She could be patient for Prompto though she might ask if they take their conversation some where private.

Whatever he'd done wrong, she had glassy eyes which meant he was making her upset enough to cry. That knowledge was skyrocketing his anxiety which was making it harder to find words.

Just breathe. He reminded himself, deep, slow breaths. It was strange that she was mirroring his own coping techniques back at him.

"First. I'm sorry." Prompto said. "Because I didn't th-think about this, and I didn't ask you to come with me as my date. I would've if I was planning on coming."

"Prompto." Belle's voice was very soft. "Would you like to step somewhere else to speak?" Away from anyone who might see them. Belle didn't want to cry but she didn't know how long she could keep the emotion at bay.

She'd never felt like this before and she had no practice controlling these kinds of feelings.

"There are some small rooms I saw along the hall."

"Yeah. Yeah, okay." Prompto opened his camera bag and pushed his camera inside carefully before snapping it shut and shouldering it again.

He let her lead the way as they stepped out of the room and down the hall. He needed to stop freaking out and focus.

He could freak out later.

Belle waited for Prompto to put away his camera before leading him out of the main ballroom. The noise instantly quieted, leaving only a soft hum in the background of their steps. She took the distance towards one of the small side rooms to clam down and force away her tears. This wasn't a time to cry but she couldn't help but feel an uncomfortable weight press on her chest.

She paused when she reached a place where they'd be alone and turned back to Prompto. Belle didn't want to meet his gaze but she did anyway.

"This is better." She whispered though she had no reason too keep her voice low. There were a hundred things she had wanted to ay but now that they were alone... Belle didn't know. She was hurt and angry and frustrated but she didn't know if it was okay to take that out on Prompto.

He walked behind Belle holding his camera bag firmly, and the quiet was helping to clear his mind, although his nerves were still on high alert.

Prompto faced her, however, not entirely sure where to start.

"I'm sorry. I know you're upset. I don't-" He swallowed. "I'm not sure why but, I'm sorry."

"You shouldn't say sorry if you don't know the reason why."

She manages to keep her voice steady while sorting through the haze of thoughts and emotion that assaulted her senses. Belle had never felt like this before and she didn't know what to do about it. "I just..." She cleared her throat and looked down at her hands. "I didn't know if you just didn't want to be seen with me."

Was that why he hadn't invited her?

"Or dance with me."

Not like the dancing at this party, it wasn't like the dances her father had taught her which were all ballroom dances, but she'd wished that they could have come together; be together now. Maybe Prompto didn't really want that. He didn't want people to know which meant that he wasn't serious about dating. Not that Belle knew how serious dating was but it had meant so much to her.

"What?" Prompto blinked, looking shocked by the mere idea. He'd not bragged about her, but he'd shown her where he lived, he'd told his friends, why would he want to keep her a secret?

"Of course I'd be glad to be seen with you." He was wringing his hands and he needed to stop, but he couldn't.

"I'd t-try to dance, but um, I don't know how to dance like that." He tilted his head back. "I mean, I didn't go to my prom, you know?"

He took a breath. "I j-just wasn't coming, until my boss asked me to cover it a-and I'm working, that's kinda boring, isn't it?"

"I've never been to a prom, of any sort." Belle admitted in a soft voice. "They don't have things like this where I'm from." She didn't know the full implications behind prom or why it might be seen as a big deal or not. She wondered if the reason that he didn't want to go was simply something she didn't understand.

He's here now and she...

Belle bit her lower lip. "I saw you dance with someone." Which meant that he knew how to dance but maybe he didn't want to dance with her? Belle was so confused and she didn't know what to think.

All she knew for sure was that it hurt.

"I'm sorry, I wasn't thinking." Prompto tried a little, desperately hoping for her to understand and maybe forgive him.

"They asked. I was being polite!" He protested with a flush.

"I just..." Prompto shook his head. He felt back and he didn't know what to do with that. He was beginning to feel a little overwhelmed.

She didn't want him to be sorry. Belle wanted to tell him how she felt, to dance with him, but it felt like the moment she craved was unattainable. She looked down at her hands and was silent for several minutes, unsure what else to say.

She felt tears gather at the corner of her eyes but fought to keep them from falling.

"I'm sorry Prompto."

"N-No you don't have to apologize I just didn't know and I..yeah, I probably should've thought of it."

Prompto fidgeted nervously. "I um, now what?"

He really didn't know what to do in this situation.

"I'm not sure." Belle admits with equal uncertainty. "I've never... been in this situation before." She looked back at the doors they had just walked through. The dance was audible but it felt out of reach.

"I suppose we should return to the dance at some point." Her tone was soft but she didn't sound happy about returning to the dance. It has somehow lost its glamour.

She wished she knew what they were supposed to do and how on earth she was going to handle the aching pain she felt in her chest.

"Okay." Prompto answered. He hadn't been in that position before either, he didn't know how to fix it, but he was definitely sure he was taking full blame for whatever happened.

"I'm sorry. Please have fun." He glanced away, moving so she could leave.

Belle didn't move. "I'd have more fun with you." Her voice was very soft and timid, rather unlike the opinionated young woman who Prompto had known before now. He had thrown her off and she wasn't sure of herself anymore.

"Only if you want."

"I do, uh, if you don't mind me taking more pictures? But we can dance in between, I really am here to do some work so I guess...he'd expect me to do something."

"Yes, of course." Belle wasn't exactly happy about it but if she got a little bit of time with Prompto. Then that was okay... wasn't it.

She followed behind him, stepping closer as they neared the hall and slipping her hand into his. "Can I at least have one dance?"

Prompto gave her a gentle smile. "Of course you can."
