GENESSIA PROM!

I - SETUP (12:00pm-5:00pm)

For any and all who agreed to help with the decorations, this would be the time to gather at the Hotel. A large list of assignments will be posted on the wall near the entrance, with duties including but not limited to:

1. Setting Tables, including placement of centerpieces
2. Wall and ceiling decorations, involving a lot of gossamer drapery and lights
3. Preparing the buffet table, with a mixture of hot and cold foods, as well as a separate table at the end for delectable deserts
4. Getting all necessary equipment on stage for the Live Band to perform. Sound Checks may occur throughout.
5. A side dressing room area set up exclusively for those who volunteered to take the time to get ready themselves, including special hair and makeup stations and a large rack to hang their dresses & shoes to change into later

II - HOTEL LOBBY (6:30pm onward)

Cozy and luxurious in its own right, those who arrive before Prom is scheduled to begin will be allowed to lounge in the Hotel Lobby for a spell. Meeting and greeting other early birds and partaking in a select few hors d'oeuvre made available while waiting for the doors to open

III. - PROM PHOTOS!

In the far corner of the lobby, a cute backdrop will be set up, ready for any and all couples/groups/brave souls going stag for the evening to take a memorable photograph! Selfies are welcome throughout, but for those desiring a more professional setup, Hikari Yagami will be on hand for the first and last hours of the night for "official" Prom Photos.

IV - EATING/DRINKING

With a "bar" consisting of 90% nonalcoholic beverages--the remaining ten percent reserved for of age chaperones--and a buffet table spanning the length of the side wall, there will be no shortage of food options that night! Hot pasta dishes, cold sandwiches, fruits, vegetable platters, and a special end section devoted to some of the best sweets Genessia's bakeries have to offer!

Of course, what prom would be complete without the traditional Fruit Bowl Punch? Better get a sip in early, though...because some traditions never die, and it's not like those in charge can keep an eye on that bowl the entire night, can they?

V. - DANCE FLOOR

With a live band (Thank you, Professor!) ready to rock, you'll soon be dancing the night away, under ethereal decorations that will really make you feel like you're dancing among the stars!

In between sets, there will be a DJ spinning a mixture of slow dances, crowd favorites, and songs that'll really get the party rockin' (~~LMFAO style~~).

VI. - CHAPERONES

Because somebody's got to make sure the kids behave.

Hopefully actual adults who can behave themselves.

VII. - MINGLING/MISC.

What other shenanigans could the teens and tweens of Genessia possible get up to? The night is young, and so are they~

[She always said she could tell when he was serious and when he was just teasing. This...was one of those times when everything about him--from his tone, to his smile, to the way he looked at her--told of nothing but pure sincerity. ~~Mimi would have been proud.~~]

Thank you. [And though she had already caught glimpses of his outfit, hat-free and all, she still took the time to give him a considerate once-over before adding. Mostly because the averted gaze helped disguise the faint blush at his compliment] You look very nice too.

[He couldn't help but chuckle slightly. he knew her well enough to know that she might be blushing at the compliment. But regardless he had moved in closer.]

So I have a present for you that I haven't managed to give you before.

[He finally moved his hands away from behind his back to reveal a box. Sitting inside it was a corsage.]

You didn't have to...

[Any modest insistance died on her lips, however, when she caught sight of the box. And the corsage inside. Her eyes softened with genuine appreciation as she took it in. A flower that would go so well with her dress--Takeru was always good about noticing the little things.]

[One of the countless things she appreciated about him.]

Oh, Takeru. It's lovely.

I thought it would look nice on you.

[he had gone to remove it from the box, placing the box to the side for the time being. He was planning on keeping it in the back after this because it wasn't really going to be needed for much longer.

He soon lightly touched her left hand with his right, lifting it up for a moment so he could put it on.]

See. It's perfect, just like you.

[Her gaze averted, if only to watch with no small degree of wonder as he pulled the flower from its box, gently motioning for left hand, which he proceeded to place the corsage on. With the elastic, it was a perfect fit, and she allowed herself an additional moment to admire its beauty. Their hands continuing to lightly brush together all the while.]

[When her eyes lifted to meet with his again, they were sparkling.]

You're the one who's perfect.

[And, without really thinking, she took a step forward just enough to lift herself up and place a light kiss on his cheek.]

[He smiled slightly, keeping a hold of her hand for the moment, feeling the brush of her lips on his cheek. he couldn't help but smile about it. So far so good at least.]

Now that, we both think the other is perfect, which... I won't argue with we both are. I want to ask you for a dance.

[She wouldn't argue it either. Not tonight. Not when it was almost too easy to slip her hand into his, cheeks lightly flushed pink as she nodded her acceptance of the request.]

[Dancing had been one of her favorite activities aside from photography when she was younger, but this was different than the freestyle she would perform during her elementary gym classes. For one, the music that began as they headed towards the dance floor was slower. More of a ballad. There were a few other couples gathered around, though none seemed to be paying any attention to either of them, each immersed in their own respective worlds.]

[Once they had found a suitable space to share, she turned back to him and waited for his cue on what to do next. Letting him take the lead.]

[Takeru was admittedly a tiny bit nervous, mostly because remembering what he did in dance classes and he really didn't want to mess such a thing up by stepping on her feet or something.

When they had sound the spot he made sure to stand in front of her left hand moving hers up slightly, while his right was gently placed on her waist. Once he was sure it was okay he made sure to lead the way, steps in time and keeping enough distance so that no toes would be stepped on.

At least so far he was doing okay.]

[He felt...tense.]

[Not completely stiff, and in fact, if Hikari wasn't so used to his constant presence, she might not have immediately noticed. But there was definitely a degree of tenseness radiating off him at that moment. Like he was nervous. And it took her far longer to recognize the reason than it should have...which, really, was a testament to how hard he seemed to be working to make things go as smoothly as possible.]

[A little too hard.]

You can relax, you know. [She smiled warmly up at him. Refraining from teasing this time, in case that made things worse.] You're doing fine.

Sorry...

[He had felt bad about being tense and felt bad that she even noticed. He just wanted to make sure that he didn't mess up. But with each step and not messing it up, he was slowly starting to get a bit more comfortable with his steps.]

I just wanted to make sure I didn't mess up, that's all. Guess I ended up a little too focused.

[She felt bad that he felt bad...but giving into such feelings would perpetuate their never-ending cycle, so instead, she opted to lightly shake her head.]

You don't have to apologize.

[Especially since she had already guessed his motive. Something which softened her smile all the more.]

But if you focus too hard on your feet, then you're going to forget I'm standing right in front of you. [Spoken in just such a tone that he would be able to tell she wasn't serious.] Look at me, and try just listening to the music.

[He was slowly getting more and more comfortable with the dancing, he seemed a lot less tense. Adapting while listening to the music.]

Well can I at least say sorry for not paying to the most beautiful thing in front of me?

[He figured he might as well be cheesy at least.]

[So cheesy. To the point where, thanks to her own prior advice about insisting he look at her, she couldn't look away either. Meaning her subsequent blush at the compliment was on full display.]

[Whether or not he knew that was anyone's guess.]

Takeru...

[Without breaking eye contact, her head dipped down shyly. She'd wanted to sound annoyed with him, but her tone came out much softer.]

[He couldn't help but laugh slightly. Even if it wasn't much in terms of a reaction, it was still something in his mind. But his footing was a lot better and the lessons he had taken were at least starting to kick in. So the next step was to do a very simple twirl.]

I thought there was someone to be something at the end of my name there.

[The hem of her dress billowed around her as she took his cue, spinning once gracefully despite her ongoing blush. Even letting out a small giggle.]

Sometimes, just your name is enough.

It brings the message across... Sometimes.

[Bit of light teasing couldn't hurt them any really. As he gently held her again, a soft smile passed by his lips. He at least for the moment he didn't need to tease. Not right after that one anyway.

But he started to hear the song wind down and he knew that no one got hurt, which was good.]

To note... Not teasing when I say this but, you look wonderful tonight.

[Less of a blush this time, but still present. Flattered rather than embarrassed or sheepish. She wouldn't even bother trying to hide it; let him have that one.]

So do you.

I've seen you dressed up before, but...this evening still seems different somehow.

[But definitely not in a bad way.]

Is it because of the atmosphere? I wouldn't blame you if it was because I get why it seems like a couples thing.

[He had stopped moving as the song had changed which cause the man to at least stop dancing for the time being.]

Want to go get a drink after all that dancing?

[And the fact that we're a couple now.]

[She didn't said the words aloud, but the sentiment was there. Shining in her eyes for a moment after he spoke, even as the music came to an end. And so did their dance.]

I am a bit thirsty, yes.

Then let's get a drink and just chill for the time being.

[He kept a firm grip on her hand as he started to lead her away from the dance floor and toward the place where the drink was.]

Now what will you have?

Anything but the fruit punch.

[She said with an unusual degree of suspicion, eyeing the bowl out of the corner of her eye.]

I'm not sure why, but I've been hearing how drinking the fruit punch at a prom like this is always a bad idea. So...just to be safe, a water or soda would be better.

Huh really? Was that something Mimi told you?

[He made a mental note to make sure he kept to water for the rest of the night. But as they reached the drinks he was already going to get her a water before handing it to her.]

Here you go.

[She accepted the water, taking the time for a few sips before returning to his earlier question.]

It was either Mimi or one of the people we spoke to about Prom after she made the announcement. I remember it being a passing comment at the time. I think they even laughed about it. But...the more I thought about it...I think they were serious.

[He moved to take a sip of his own drink, taking that time to listen and think of his next words.]

Well I guess we have learned a lot while sorting this whole thing out it seems.

[He smiled slightly once ore taking another sip of his drink before placing the glass down for the moment.]

Though I will add, you did an amazing job.

[Again, she expressed gratitude for the sentiment, cheeks flushing a light pink before letting out a soft giggle.]

But I'd just as well not have to do it again anytime soon.
