GENESSIA PROM!

I - SETUP (12:00pm-5:00pm)

For any and all who agreed to help with the decorations, this would be the time to gather at the Hotel. A large list of assignments will be posted on the wall near the entrance, with duties including but not limited to:

1. Setting Tables, including placement of centerpieces
2. Wall and ceiling decorations, involving a lot of gossamer drapery and lights
3. Preparing the buffet table, with a mixture of hot and cold foods, as well as a separate table at the end for delectable deserts
4. Getting all necessary equipment on stage for the Live Band to perform. Sound Checks may occur throughout.
5. A side dressing room area set up exclusively for those who volunteered to take the time to get ready themselves, including special hair and makeup stations and a large rack to hang their dresses & shoes to change into later

II - HOTEL LOBBY (6:30pm onward)

Cozy and luxurious in its own right, those who arrive before Prom is scheduled to begin will be allowed to lounge in the Hotel Lobby for a spell. Meeting and greeting other early birds and partaking in a select few hors d'oeuvre made available while waiting for the doors to open

III. - PROM PHOTOS!

In the far corner of the lobby, a cute backdrop will be set up, ready for any and all couples/groups/brave souls going stag for the evening to take a memorable photograph! Selfies are welcome throughout, but for those desiring a more professional setup, Hikari Yagami will be on hand for the first and last hours of the night for "official" Prom Photos.

IV - EATING/DRINKING

With a "bar" consisting of 90% nonalcoholic beverages--the remaining ten percent reserved for of age chaperones--and a buffet table spanning the length of the side wall, there will be no shortage of food options that night! Hot pasta dishes, cold sandwiches, fruits, vegetable platters, and a special end section devoted to some of the best sweets Genessia's bakeries have to offer!

Of course, what prom would be complete without the traditional Fruit Bowl Punch? Better get a sip in early, though...because some traditions never die, and it's not like those in charge can keep an eye on that bowl the entire night, can they?

V. - DANCE FLOOR

With a live band (Thank you, Professor!) ready to rock, you'll soon be dancing the night away, under ethereal decorations that will really make you feel like you're dancing among the stars!

In between sets, there will be a DJ spinning a mixture of slow dances, crowd favorites, and songs that'll really get the party rockin' (~~LMFAO style~~).

VI. - CHAPERONES

Because somebody's got to make sure the kids behave.

Hopefully actual adults who can behave themselves.

VII. - MINGLING/MISC.

What other shenanigans could the teens and tweens of Genessia possible get up to? The night is young, and so are they~

[Namur really does tower over her. And with his face in something of a perpetual scowl, he's probably quite intimidating to talk to, even with his brow lifted curiously.

Oh Lord of the Sea. If Namur were the type to think of a word like prudes he'd be thinking it a lot right now. Instead, he tastes that hesitance, and notes the way she only faltered once and then carried on with quiet confidence. Damn it that's adorable.

So he laughs, deep from his belly, then hunkers down like a cat on its haunches, elbows propped on his knees.]

Only if y' do us all a favor, sweetheart.

[He pauses a moment to make sure she's looking him in the eyes.]

Don't say that t' Rip.

[At which point he smiles, offering his hand. He did ask her to dance, after all.]

Era. [ She corrects him again, quite obviously unintimidated by his stature or expression. The only time Era's eye contact had wavered was when she faltered, then again when she bowed.

Most everyone in Eorzea is taller than her, and many are not that much shorter than the man before her, often with similar scowls or frowns etched on their faces. Men so often seem to enjoy trying to come across as manly and tough. Which may actually be fairly discomfiting to some other women where she comes from, but she's faced down literal gods all on her own. Tall men are nothing in comparison to Titan or Susano or Sephirot. ]

Rip is your partner?

[ She smiles in return, pleased that he doesn't seem to be offended by her request. Taking his hand (never has she seen it so dwarfed by another) Era starts trying to figure out how best to make this work with the drastic differences in their sizes. ]

The tallest person I've danced with has been a few ilms - inches - [ sometimes the common name for these measurements slip her mind. ] shy of seven feet... You must be near eight feet tall, give or take a few inches, no?

And might I ask for the name of my dance partner?

Aye, she's one a 'em. Only one in this world so far cuz I been too busy bein' a dumbass an' she's the only one bitchy 'nuff t' break reality an' come find me, sheheheheh! How 'bout yerself? Got somebody y' love?

[Still down on his haunches, he leads her into an underarm turn. While she's doing that, he kneels, then takes her up into a closed position.]

Name's Namur. Got a good eye, cuz y' called it in one. That outta practice or jus' cuz y' ain't human?

You were taken to another world? [ Multiple partners isn't something that particularly phases Era any longer - not after being friends with one Rosaline Nurumi, girlfriend of two and fiancée to another. She learned a great deal about relationships there.

Era follows his lead easily, clearly accustomed to such things even if he's taller than anyone she's met before. ]

It's good to meet you, Namur. I'm Era. [ And to answer his question (and his earlier one about her love life) - ] I am an Au Ra, and my husband is an Elezen. He's a few inches shy of seven feet tall, so I judged your height using his as a baseline.

[ And given the absolutely smitten smile that crosses her face as she mentions him... Well, it's pretty easy to tell that it was entirely a marriage of love, not circumstance. ]

This's like my fourth or fifth or some shit. Weren't even all in order or nothin' either, so's all kinda a mess, sheheheh! Gives me headaches. 'S how y' know I'm meetin' someone I knowed 'fore. Gonna pinch my nose like ugh!

[He demonstrates by pulling a face and pinching his nose as if he's suddenly had a piercing jolt of pain zip through his temple. But he's alright, for now.]

That's the look. Think it happens t' others that's gone through the same kinda shit. What's yer husband's name? Meet 'im back where yer from or in some other world or what?

This is my second. [ Disregarding the few she was in temporarily back home thanks to Ozma and shenanigans with portals and dimensions. ] It's been disorienting enough for me with two. I cannot even imagine four or five.

[ It's impressive to her though, and Era doesn't see any reason not to let that show in her expression. She's alert for the split second she isn't sure his pain is fake or not, but relaxes as soon as it's clear he's alright. ]

His name is Aymeric de Borel. We were best friends in our home world, ending a thousand-year war alongside each other. Romantic love had never been something I thought about before as there was never time for me to consider such a thing, but in Xistentia we had nothing but time...

[ Which is good, because it took her over half a year to realize that she liked Aymeric as more than a friend. :'| ]

[He winks, hopefully making what he means by "getting up to shit" a bit more clear. Namur's still dancing on his knees, meaning he's not pulling any super impressive moves himself, but he can lead Era into dips and underarm spins easy enough.]

Who made the first move, him or y'?

There was ample time, but surprisingly few things to get up to.

[ Era honestly has no idea what he means by it, aside from just translating 'shit' to 'things' contextually and taking it at face-value. She assumes he means something along the lines of 'nothing but time to get into trouble', since. Well. Era is the Warrior of Light. Nine times out of ten if there was a commotion she was somehow involved.

And of course Namur's question has brought her mind back to Aymeric, and the moments that gave birth to their relationship. It means her cheeks are flushed a fetching pink under ivory scales. ]

...Neither. There was a situation where we had need to link our minds together, and through that we realized our feelings were mutual. It was the middle of a war so a discussion had to wait.

[ It was the most straightforward almost business-like discussion between the two of them. And it worked out well enough that they married a few months later, so. There's that, at least. ]

Wait, so y' jus'. ESP'd yerselves int' a relationship?

Damn. 'S like. Both cool as shit an' borin' as hell at the same time, sheheheh!

[Man can he taste it in the air that she is totally in love with this guy though. It's intoxicating in its own way.]

So what happened after the war got over? Didja hook it up then?

I am unfamiliar ESP, but yes - it was an interesting experience.

[ Thanks to a certain friend of hers teaching her more modern slang, Era actually understands what 'hook up' means. Especially given this context. She turns red; body language uncomfortable. Even if she was an intimate person Era would not be one to talk about such things regardless.

Still, there's an easy enough answer to Namur's question: ]

I am uncomfortable with the concept of physical intimacy.

Eh? The concept..?

[Namur glances at their hands, naturally clasped as they dance, and all but lets go.]

The hell y' mean by that? Like... why?

[ Era is bewildered by the action, but just rolls with it. ]

The thought of sexual intimacy is discomfiting to me. My reasons are my own. Needless to say, Aymeric is aware of this and happy to accommodate me.

[ It isn't something they need - they're happy to just cuddle or hold hands. Chaste kisses that occasionally grow more passionate.

Admittedly she has grown comfortable with the idea of being intimate with Aymeric. They were even planning to finally consummate their marriage had Genessia not stolen her away and forced Era to miss their wedding ceremony two weeks ago.

She is still kind of salty about that. ]

[At first she said physical intimacy, and when you get down to it, clasping hands can be pretty damn intimate. He relaxes when she clarifies that it's sexual intimacy that gives her pause. He shakes his head a little, in wonder. He literally can not imagine feeling that way. He loves being touched.]

Good y' found somebody that gets y' that way. Think he'll ever show up here?

[ She nods. ] I am very fortunate.

[ Aymeric could have had almost anyone he chose, yet he chose Era and she still doesn't understand why, though she's glad for it regardless.

When she answers it's with complete confidence: ] Yes. He will arrive late, but he will reunite with me soon enough.

[Namur laughs and gives her a spin.]

Hell yeah that's the spirit! Ain't no way he can't show up if y' keep believin' in 'im!
