GENESSIA PROM!

I - SETUP (12:00pm-5:00pm)

For any and all who agreed to help with the decorations, this would be the time to gather at the Hotel. A large list of assignments will be posted on the wall near the entrance, with duties including but not limited to:

1. Setting Tables, including placement of centerpieces
2. Wall and ceiling decorations, involving a lot of gossamer drapery and lights
3. Preparing the buffet table, with a mixture of hot and cold foods, as well as a separate table at the end for delectable deserts
4. Getting all necessary equipment on stage for the Live Band to perform. Sound Checks may occur throughout.
5. A side dressing room area set up exclusively for those who volunteered to take the time to get ready themselves, including special hair and makeup stations and a large rack to hang their dresses & shoes to change into later

II - HOTEL LOBBY (6:30pm onward)

Cozy and luxurious in its own right, those who arrive before Prom is scheduled to begin will be allowed to lounge in the Hotel Lobby for a spell. Meeting and greeting other early birds and partaking in a select few hors d'oeuvre made available while waiting for the doors to open

III. - PROM PHOTOS!

In the far corner of the lobby, a cute backdrop will be set up, ready for any and all couples/groups/brave souls going stag for the evening to take a memorable photograph! Selfies are welcome throughout, but for those desiring a more professional setup, Hikari Yagami will be on hand for the first and last hours of the night for "official" Prom Photos.

IV - EATING/DRINKING

With a "bar" consisting of 90% nonalcoholic beverages--the remaining ten percent reserved for of age chaperones--and a buffet table spanning the length of the side wall, there will be no shortage of food options that night! Hot pasta dishes, cold sandwiches, fruits, vegetable platters, and a special end section devoted to some of the best sweets Genessia's bakeries have to offer!

Of course, what prom would be complete without the traditional Fruit Bowl Punch? Better get a sip in early, though...because some traditions never die, and it's not like those in charge can keep an eye on that bowl the entire night, can they?

V. - DANCE FLOOR

With a live band (Thank you, Professor!) ready to rock, you'll soon be dancing the night away, under ethereal decorations that will really make you feel like you're dancing among the stars!

In between sets, there will be a DJ spinning a mixture of slow dances, crowd favorites, and songs that'll really get the party rockin' (~~LMFAO style~~).

VI. - CHAPERONES

Because somebody's got to make sure the kids behave.

Hopefully actual adults who can behave themselves.

VII. - MINGLING/MISC.

What other shenanigans could the teens and tweens of Genessia possible get up to? The night is young, and so are they~

[The style of dress chosen was...a little surprising to see at a Prom, based on what Mimi had told Hikari about outfits typically worn. But it was not entirely unfamiliar to one born and raised in Japan.]

[She found him by the buffer table, just as she was slipping over to the dessert corner for another few quick bites. They'd shared only one conversation previously, but it had been pleasant enough that she thought a greeting would be warranted in this instant. As such, Hikari made a point to catch his eye from where she was, before lightly bowing her head.]

Hello again.

I hope you're enjoying yourself this evening.

[Haga was a little surprised someone acknowledged him there, since he was so new to that place. But apparently Hikari remembered him. That was... a nice feeling, he wasn't gonna lie.]

Ah, hi. [He gives her a bow in return.]

I guess? I've never been to a party like this. It's little awkward...

[She took note of the surprise, but said nothing on the matter. Especially since it seemed to elicit a pleasant feeling in his heart, which made her happy in turn.]

[At his bow, she offered a matching one in return. They were close in age, but as he was slightly older, respect was still owed on that level.]

There's no need to feel awkward, although I can understand why. I've...never been to a Prom before, either.

[He nods.]

I've been to parties before, but only with my parents. They usually take me to their business gatherings. [He doesn't know if he can call them that, because no one is really doing business there, but everyone that works with his parents is there with their children too, so...]

It's strange to be here on my own and not being surrounded by grown ups. [He scratches the back of his head, letting out a slightly awkward laugh.]

[A slight tilt of her head followed. She could understand attending a lot of adult functions, particularly if someone was on the wealthier side and socially expected to attend as a means of honoring their family...but on the other hand...]

Do you not have any school festivals where you're from?

[Haga seems to tense up for a moment in response to that question, then lets out a small laugh.]

Well, hm, yes. There are, but I don't attend them a lot. [More like he never attends them.] I prefer staying home or doing my own things, you know? [Which... isn't completely a lie, he does prefer staying inside and all, but there's also the part where, well, he has a grand total of zero friends at school.]

[After a slight pause, Hikari also laughed. Expression warming as a particular memory came to mind.]

That sounds like a friend of mine. Koushiro. He's a year older, but he's one of the smartest people I know.

Our last school festival, he stayed home for most of it. Working on his computer.

Well, I'm not a huge fan of computers, but I like playing some games on mine. Although, what I really like doing at home is taking care of my insects. They don't have a super long life span so I try to spend as much time as I can with them. [He didn't know if that was weird to say, that he spent his free time tending to bugs, but it was the first thing that came to his mind.]

[Insects.]

[Hikari couldn't help picture Tentomon in that moment. Koushiro's digimon partner. The continued parallel between the two boys brought about a fond smile to her face, although she held back a small bout of laughter so as to not risk offending him.]

They must mean a great deal to you, for you to be so devoted to them.

Well, yeah. I mean, they make me company a lot. [And don't make fun of me... Haga thought to himself, thinking back to how things were back home and how people at his school were... less than thrilled about spending time with him.]

People think liking insects is weird and gross, but they are super interesting and do a lot of cool stuff! [He suddenly grows defensive about the subject, more out of habit than anything.] I-I mean, I'm not saying you think they are, but... [Gosh, that was not very smooth.]

[She didn't make fun. She didn't even show signs of laughing at him beyond an amused smile and gentle chuckle at his latter statement.]

[Association with Tentomon aside, insects were...not really her thing. But nor would she look down upon Haga for taking an interest. She supposed, on a scientific level, there was merit to his words. Bugs were still living creatures too, after all, and his honesty was enough to warrant further interest on her part. Even if only out of politeness.]

What kinds of cool stuff?

[He didn't expect Hikari to ask him about what insects do. Sure he didn't expect her to make fun of it, but he thought she would just nod along and change subjects.

It was... A little weird to say the least, but he was kinda glad she did.] Well, there's a lot. I mean, aside from the fact that they can go through metamorphosis, some who live in colonies can do really impressive things. Like, did you know some ants can build bridges with themselves to help other ants cross large gaps? It's really awesome! [Haga can't stop his lips curving into a smile as he speaks.]

Ah, and bees are super intelligent and can even use the sun to locate themselves! People think they just, like, smell the flowers to get to them but it's not like that.

[Seeing his smile, Hikari smiled back. Pleased to see she'd touched upon a subject that made him so happy.]

[It gave her an idea.]

Have you looked for any bees here?

This world is different than the ones we come from in a lot of ways. Maybe you could come across some new species. In the gardens or parks, maybe.

[At the suggestion that Genessia could have new and unknown types of insects, Haga's eyes pretty much lit up behind his glasses. He was so busy trying to acclimate himself to this new world, he didn't really remind himself to go bug hunting, and it didn't even occur to him that a completely new place could have insects he never saw before.]

You are right! [He said, a little louder than necessary.] Why I didn't thought of that? This is gonna be great! [At that point the idea alone was making him beam.]

[She allowed herself a small hint of giggling at the reaction. No longer concerned.]

It's always nice to have something to look forward to, isn't it?

Ah, yes, it is!! You know, when I got here, I thought this place was going to be awful but... It's turning out to be a little nice. [Haga admitted, his smile not as wide but certainly still there.]

[Hikari's smile...faltered. Only a little, but noticeable enough to anyone who might have been paying attention in that moment. As was the slight shadow to pass over her eyes. Thinking of her own experience with arriving in this world.]

I'm not...sure what I thought when I first woke up here. A lot of it was a blur to me.

But what I do remember was that I clung to the familiar. My...best friend. [Because that's what he'd still been to her then. Before all that changed.] He helped me figure out what my place here was. Or could be.

[Fortunately Haga was a little too distracted by his own thoughts to see the shadow in Hikari's eyes, but he noticed that her smile turned into a bit of a frown.]

When, when I got here I thought something bad had happened to me, but... I guess you know that already. [After all she was one of the people who replied to his very first broadcast.]

But even though no one I know is here, things back where I came from were a little rough lately, so I can't say being here isn't a good change. [Haga pondered for a minute. Yeah, he wasn't at the best moment of his life back home indeed.]

I'm glad you had someone to rely on when you arrived though. I mean, you seem like a nice person, so that's good. [It was still weird being this "positive" towards someone, but Haga figured that if others were being nice to him for once, he might as well do the same.]

[She did. She remembered the broadcast. If not in its entirety, than from the emotional intensity of his message.]

I...know the feeling.

[Vague words, but they were referring specifically to the part about things back home being "rough." Things she was far from ready to talk about, which was precisely why she would ask him nothing further on his end.]
