GENESSIA PROM!

I - SETUP (12:00pm-5:00pm)

For any and all who agreed to help with the decorations, this would be the time to gather at the Hotel. A large list of assignments will be posted on the wall near the entrance, with duties including but not limited to:

1. Setting Tables, including placement of centerpieces
2. Wall and ceiling decorations, involving a lot of gossamer drapery and lights
3. Preparing the buffet table, with a mixture of hot and cold foods, as well as a separate table at the end for delectable deserts
4. Getting all necessary equipment on stage for the Live Band to perform. Sound Checks may occur throughout.
5. A side dressing room area set up exclusively for those who volunteered to take the time to get ready themselves, including special hair and makeup stations and a large rack to hang their dresses & shoes to change into later

II - HOTEL LOBBY (6:30pm onward)

Cozy and luxurious in its own right, those who arrive before Prom is scheduled to begin will be allowed to lounge in the Hotel Lobby for a spell. Meeting and greeting other early birds and partaking in a select few hors d'oeuvre made available while waiting for the doors to open

III. - PROM PHOTOS!

In the far corner of the lobby, a cute backdrop will be set up, ready for any and all couples/groups/brave souls going stag for the evening to take a memorable photograph! Selfies are welcome throughout, but for those desiring a more professional setup, Hikari Yagami will be on hand for the first and last hours of the night for "official" Prom Photos.

IV - EATING/DRINKING

With a "bar" consisting of 90% nonalcoholic beverages--the remaining ten percent reserved for of age chaperones--and a buffet table spanning the length of the side wall, there will be no shortage of food options that night! Hot pasta dishes, cold sandwiches, fruits, vegetable platters, and a special end section devoted to some of the best sweets Genessia's bakeries have to offer!

Of course, what prom would be complete without the traditional Fruit Bowl Punch? Better get a sip in early, though...because some traditions never die, and it's not like those in charge can keep an eye on that bowl the entire night, can they?

V. - DANCE FLOOR

With a live band (Thank you, Professor!) ready to rock, you'll soon be dancing the night away, under ethereal decorations that will really make you feel like you're dancing among the stars!

In between sets, there will be a DJ spinning a mixture of slow dances, crowd favorites, and songs that'll really get the party rockin' (~~LMFAO style~~).

VI. - CHAPERONES

Because somebody's got to make sure the kids behave.

Hopefully actual adults who can behave themselves.

VII. - MINGLING/MISC.

What other shenanigans could the teens and tweens of Genessia possible get up to? The night is young, and so are they~

( she's right. ren is sure if ryuji had been given the opportunity, he wouldn't have shut up about having a girlfriend. there's a little laugh through his sigh as he touches his chin. )

Just a time issue, I think. I didn't get here that long before you, and I have been working a lot.

( until ann can get a foot up in her modeling, the brunt of their rent is on him for now and he's actually been looking for a third job but - still. he doesn't like this either, nothing means more to him than their team, so the next time a girlfriend comes around ren is making it his business to be the first one available to be told about it. he nods to himself. no riffs! please he loves his friends!!

maybe a heist is just what they need. she has a point about the bounties, but he thinks you have to get licensed for that sort of thing. he's not sure. maybe akechi can help them out with that, if he's at all interested in proving allegiances. he shakes those thoughts from his head, because akechi is even more of a delicate subject than usual at the moment, and continues in a hushed whisper. )

It'll be tricker without the Metaverse as a catalyst. We can't exactly go waving guns and monsters around in the middle of the street out here. ( his smile also goes a little crooked as his forehead tips into his palm. ) Like Ryuji did.

[Ann can't help the slight guilty look that crosses her face as he mentions working a lot. She knows she should probably be doing more to contribute, has considered a second job herself because she knows she can't bank on the modelling paying off.

But she lets that go in favour of the topic of how and if there's room for Phantom Thieves in this new world. Not least because she figures Ryuji shouldn't be the only one catching flack for reckless Persona usage.]

Well, I can't say I know if the fake guns would work the same way they do here but our Personas are okay. Which is probably just as well because otherwise I'd have been a lot more screwed the other week.

[She's not sure how she'd have gotten out of that particular scrape had she not had Carmen with her, even though it luckily didn't lead to her setting fire to anything or anyone.]

( yeah, he does know ryuji mentioned that their persona work here, which is odd. he hasn't tried it himself, but he does have vague memories of when he was in - wait.

wait, what? )

Ann... ( ann... ) you too?

( he's confused, but more than that, he's concerned. ryuji is explainable, since he's 90% reflex reaction, but ann is saying she used hers too? you guys. what kind of trouble has he been missing out on here? )

What happened that it had to go that far?

I didn't do anything that would leave lasting damage.

[It's the defence she's been clinging to from the start, though she does know it makes her no less of a hypocrite after she'd chastised Ryuji for doing almost the same thing.]

Just, there was this guy who used to work at a shoe store being really rude to his customers. I stepped in and it just escalated...and let's just say the guy makes Ryuji at his worst look level-headed. The store had staff to take care of him when that started but then I chose to wait with him until the police came and once he woke up he turned on me.

[She seems sorry for that part, but not for everything that came before it. After all they've all been through, turning a blind eye to someone being nasty for no reason isn't something she can really do these days.]

Ahaha... ( he puts up his hands a little - it's okay ann!! ) you don't have to make that face. I don't think any of us would have done differently. I hope Carmen scared him enough that he'll think twice about how he treats others now.

( ann was definitely in the right to step in and, truthfully, if he had been there he's not sure he would have done much to deter her. when she went ham on kamoshida all ren did was grin off to the side - it's fun watching her put assholes in place. that being said, they should probably be more careful about just whipping out their persona in public, especially if they're planning to do anything that requires their identities not be so easily recognizable. cough. )

We should have an actual meetup about this - the four of us - and decide what we wanna do with our powers while we're here.

( he smiles and holds out a hand to her. )

But tonight is for fun, don't you think?

Honestly, I'm not sure. He seemed pretty sure he was in the right the whole time. I guess it depends what happened after he was taken in.

[Hopefully the justice system is a little fairer than the one back home could be at times. Not that she's in any hurry for any of the group to find out first-hand - she'll settle for whatever Akechi feels like sharing with them, if that.

Though she is aware that they'll need to be careful if they do take up the Phantom Thief mantle again.]

That sounds like a good idea. I mean, I'm assuming the unanimous decision rule still applies, at least between those of us who are here.

[Which could be interesting when they're lacking some of the more level-headed members of the team but hopefully there's enough of them to keep Ryuji in line, at least.

But he's right that it's not something for tonight. She takes the offered hand, unable to resist a chance to tease him.]

You're right. And I guess I should make the most of you before your date shows up or everyone else starts fighting over themselves to get a dance with you.

[Even now she's pretty sure there are going to be some people watching and hating her for having his attention, but she's not bothered. That's their problem for taking issue with two friends dancing together.]

( his face colors a little, fingers squeezing reflexively around hers as sheepish laughter bubbles out of him. )

I don't...I don't think people pay that much attention to me. You definitely have that backwards.

( people are way more likely to fight over getting a dance with her than with him, and with good reason. have you seen ann takamaki? his fluster only worsens at the mention of that word. the D word. he shakes his head quickly. )

You know, um, I never really used the word...date. I just invited them.

( ...that's a date ren. )

Are you serious? You've really never noticed how many people get drawn to you?

[She's not commenting on whatever attention she might be getting. That's not important. The point is Ren has always been the most magnetic of the Phantom Thieves and Ann sees no reason why that should be different here.

Still, that he gets flustered over her use of a perfectly innocent word gets her attention and she raises an eyebrow, lips teasing at a grin she doesn't fully allow because she's not sure where the line for appropriate teasing is with something like this, with him.]

You just invited them. And then got all dressed up for them. And were stood here fidgeting before I came over. Looks like a date to me, and a pretty important one, too.

[She can easily see him agreeing to be a friend's 'date' for something like this, but she figures he'd be a lot more composed if that were the case.]

( what? no. joker maybe, but not ren. right? his laugh is wilted. )

Are you sure that they're drawn to me and not just that I can't leave things alone? I mean. I chased you down the subway station, haha...

( yeah, remember that? every one of his relationships can be traced back to his habit of being one nosy motherfucker, that probably has more to do with it than any real magnetism. also, don't read him like this ann. he's sweating. )

It was more like... ( his brow knits as he raises his free arm, turning his wrist over so he can look at the ties on his sleeve. ) competition?

( yeah. that's a good word for it. that absolutely explains everything. )

Well okay, maybe that's part of it. But I wouldn't have told just anyone what I told you then.

[True, she'd been desperate enough that it wouldn't have taken much to get at least some of it out of her but she still stands by the fact that Ren being Ren was what got her to give up so much of it when she'd until then known him only as the transfer student with a shady past.

Still. Past is past, and she's much more interested in right now. Too bad for him he's let any of this slip to his resident Lovers Arcana representative.]

Even you don't sound like you believe that one. And even if you did, it still comes down to wanting to impress someone. Why wouldn't I think your date's the one you're trying to impress?

( ren would be more touched by that sentiment if his lovers-arcana wasn't currently d r a g g i n g him. )

That's not... ( no, actually! he can want to one-up his not-date and not simultaneously be looking to impress them. he believes this. that's why he's sweating so much and not looking her in the eye and suddenly blurts-- )

Are you trying to impress Ryuji?

( if that's the logic here!! )

[Though she's clearly outraged, it's tinged far more with hurt than denial. She's trying to play it down, because she knows really that Ren thinks better of her than most people, but it's hard to shut down completely when her trying to hit on someone still mourning the loss of his girlfriend is exactly what people at school would believe as entirely in keeping for her.]

That would be super inappropriate! I came with Ryuji as a friend, that's all. It's nothing like you and your date.

( he startles at her tone, but when she explains why, his expression falls. )

Ann... ( he shakes his head. no, no, no. ) I'm sorry. That isn't what I meant.

( being dressed up doesn't have to mean you're trying to impress someone - that's the point he was trying to draw, but he was misunderstood. ren looks away, embarrassed that she thought him so insensitive. he draws his hand back, starts mumbling. )

It's not...like that for me either. I don't know why I invited them, it just sort of came out while I was trying to avoid something else. Then I couldn't back out of it.

Hmm. If you say so.

[She's still not convinced, but this has already hit a slippery slope in discussion and she's not about to be the one to make it worse. She figures the truth will come out later anyway, if she manages to catch Ren with his not-a-date.

She's still curious. But it can wait. Still, if it's a situation he felt he couldn't back out of, she does at least offer a hint of concern.]

But whatever it is. If it gets weird, send me a message or something and I'll come bail you out.

( it's not that ren doesn't want to tell her, so much as that he's just not really sure how to explain it. there are a lot of things that are up in the air with akechi right now, a lot of extrinsic motivation that comes with interacting, it's a mess he hasn't been able to parse for himself, let alone explain it to someone else. but ann's reassurance relaxes him a little. )

Thanks, Ann. If they show up, I think we're both going to try to be on our best behavior, so hopefully it won't be necessary.

( that aside though. ren's bailout. ryuji's shoulder. shiho's confidence. ren laughs airily. )

( ann please...you deserve to enjoy yourself too... )

[There's plenty Ann could say, about that if or about whether their definitions of 'best behaviour' line up but she lets it go. She can keep an eye on things from afar if she needs to but it's not like this is the only thing she has to keep an eye on, either.

She probably shouldn't be too surprised that Ren's calling her out on it. She does at least have the grace to look sheepish, but not apologetic.]

I know that. But I can't really just turn a blind eye to things any more either. Not with you guys.

[Shiho she's let down once before already and while the same isn't true of the Phantom Thieves, they're just as important to Ann and so she's determined that she'll learn from her past mistakes. It's not like it's so strange that she'd spend so much of her time here with her friends anyway, she'd like to think.]

( ren smiles warmly, shaking his head. )

No, of course not. I don't think any of us can tell you just how glad we are that you showed up.

( her response is broader than what he was implying, but he takes a moment to acknowledge it anyway. not to be punny, but to him, ann is their heart of their little group - none of them would be the same without her here, and he's grateful for it. gently, he touches her hand again. we were gonna dance, right? )

What I meant was that you don't have to play babysitter so much tonight, we're have to have fun.

[Really, she knows he was being more specific than her response had suggested. It's not as though her answer would change any for scaling it down, though; even if it's little things like making sure Ryuji isn't spending too much time brooding or that Ren has an out of his date-not-date if he needs one, Ann sees no reason not to be on top of that.

Though she does have to wonder at his comment, even as she accepts the unspoken offer. Might as well take the dance with him while it's free - because date or not, she can't see him having so much time later.]

Is that how it comes across? I don't mean to be overbearing or anything. Though I mean, if I was being overbearing then I wouldn't have left Shiho's side.

[So she's trying, even if she hasn't quite got Makoto's knack for playing Team Mom.]

Nah. Makoto still has you beat in that department.

( kidding HE'S KIDDING please both of these girls could destroy him... he smiles a little wryly. )

Maybe I'm the one being like that, I just want to make sure you're enjoying yourself too, that's all. Have you and Ryuji done anything fun yet?

Maybe that's why I'm trying so hard. If she's not here then someone has to fill in for her, right?

[Or at least try. And given Ann's tendency to fill the role before Makoto joined them, perhaps it's only natural she'd be the one to step up.

Though she's not being entirely selfless, which she figures bears mentioning now.]

But you don't have to worry. I'm not missing out on anything just because I'm taking breaks to make sure you guys are okay.
