GENESSIA PROM!
For any and all who agreed to help with the decorations, this would be the time to gather at the Hotel. A large list of assignments will be posted on the wall near the entrance, with duties including but not limited to:
1. Setting Tables, including placement of centerpieces
2. Wall and ceiling decorations, involving a lot of gossamer drapery and lights
3. Preparing the buffet table, with a mixture of hot and cold foods, as well as a separate table at the end for delectable deserts
4. Getting all necessary equipment on stage for the Live Band to perform. Sound Checks may occur throughout.
5. A side dressing room area set up exclusively for those who volunteered to take the time to get ready themselves, including special hair and makeup stations and a large rack to hang their dresses & shoes to change into later

II - HOTEL LOBBY (6:30pm onward)

Cozy and luxurious in its own right, those who arrive before Prom is scheduled to begin will be allowed to lounge in the Hotel Lobby for a spell. Meeting and greeting other early birds and partaking in a select few hors d'oeuvre made available while waiting for the doors to open
III. - PROM PHOTOS!

In the far corner of the lobby, a cute backdrop will be set up, ready for any and all couples/groups/brave souls going stag for the evening to take a memorable photograph! Selfies are welcome throughout, but for those desiring a more professional setup, Hikari Yagami will be on hand for the first and last hours of the night for "official" Prom Photos.
Smile, everyone!
IV - EATING/DRINKING

With a "bar" consisting of 90% nonalcoholic beverages--the remaining ten percent reserved for of age chaperones--and a buffet table spanning the length of the side wall, there will be no shortage of food options that night! Hot pasta dishes, cold sandwiches, fruits, vegetable platters, and a special end section devoted to some of the best sweets Genessia's bakeries have to offer!
Of course, what prom would be complete without the traditional Fruit Bowl Punch? Better get a sip in early, though...because some traditions never die, and it's not like those in charge can keep an eye on that bowl the entire night, can they?
V. - DANCE FLOOR

With a live band (Thank you, Professor!) ready to rock, you'll soon be dancing the night away, under ethereal decorations that will really make you feel like you're dancing among the stars!
In between sets, there will be a DJ spinning a mixture of slow dances, crowd favorites, and songs that'll really get the party rockin' (
VI. - CHAPERONES

Because somebody's got to make sure the kids behave.
Hopefully actual adults who can behave themselves.
VII. - MINGLING/MISC.
What other shenanigans could the teens and tweens of Genessia possible get up to? The night is young, and so are they~

[ryuji stomped over to her, momentarily forgetting about everything that had been weighing himself down and he just focused on dancing with ann.]
Maybe I should be watching out for your feet. You might be the one to step on me.
[a joke, really, just playful banter as the music starts. oddly enough, it was a slow song, meant for two people to dance to. he glanced over to ann, and then he stepped in line. he cleared his throat, putting his hands on her waist. start like this, right?!]
no subject
[Even if she is in different shoes to normal and has maybe wondered if that's going to make a difference. She's not going to admit that to him, is she?
She catches herself, then, as she realises the type of song playing right now. She half expects that Ryuji will shy away from it but then maybe he hasn't made that same association and she certainly isn't going to bring his mood down by saying anything about it.
Still, there's a moment where she glances away as his hands come to her waist because this is kind of intimate and it's not something she's all that used to. The moment's fleeting; she soon recovers enough to let her arms come to rest across his shoulders, allowing for some space between the two of them even when she knows the point of slow-dancing is to be as close as possible. That just wouldn't be appropriate, after all.]
no subject
This ain't so bad. [he muttered more to himself, really, but ann would be able to hear it.] We don't have this kinda stuff in Japan so it's pretty fun.
no subject
[She's not sure if he was expecting a response or not but it feels more awkward to her to not offer one. If they're talking, they're not focusing on any lingering awkwardness because even though they're close friends, what they're doing seems to have connotations that aren't quite appropriate.
Not that she really cares. People have been getting the wrong idea about her for years and for dumber stuff than her dancing with a friend.
Still, she doesn't want silence to fall and so she follows that comment with a stray thought of her own.]
I wonder if this sort of thing would have been happening somewhere on Shido's ship. Cruises have dances and stuff, right?
no subject
Yeah, they probs had stuff like that goin' on. Though Ren is the ladies man, he probs woulda gotten a dance so easily. [srsly that guy has it going on.]
Hey we should try one of those dips that people do!
no subject
[True, everyone on the ship other than them had been a cognitive version of someone but Ann figures there'd still have been plenty of women fighting for some of Ren's time.
Even as the Palaces weren't their greatest of memories, Ann still relaxes somewhat while they talk about them. It's familiar ground, a distraction that stops this from feeling so stilted and weird.
Though she's caught somewhere between surprised and probably-shouldn't-have-been at Ryuji's suggestion. And she can very quickly see how this could all go wrong.]
As long as it's not too deep. Drop me and I will make you pay.
no subject
[he was about to add, as long as she didn't weigh much, but he was sure she would smack him for that. but yay, he got the Okay from her! he grinned in response and as they moved across the dance floor he found the perfect moment to make her dip!
he turned with her, aaaand he brought her down! she did not hit the floor, as one might expect, but they did stay in that dipped position for a moment before he pulled them both back up.]
Hell yeah! How was that?!
no subject
Still, at least he was smart enough not to comment about her weight. That would not have ended well.
The dip, however, does go smoothly and there's surprise visible in her expression as she meets his gaze again.]
If I didn't know any better I'd say you've practised that before.
no subject
I had been practicing, yeah. [for this night, to dance with mimi, but he doesn't add that last part. she's probably tired of hearing all about his lost romance.]
I wanted to be better! I also had been practicing all kinds of dances. Just wait until a song with a better beat comes on.
no subject
She hesitates, almost says something before thinking better of it. How many times has he already heard the same two words that do nothing to fix the fact that his girlfriend's gone. Better to think of something else, she thinks, and what better than their usual banter.]
Oh yeah? Should I be dragging you to the talent agency to get you signed up as another next big thing?
no subject
so her question made him grin and just shake his head.]
Naahh man- I ain't that good! If you do that to me then I'd just register you as my partner or somethin' as payback! [if he's going down ur going with him]
no subject
[Perks of using the agency she already works for, they know what her skill-set is. Not that she couldn't see Ryuji making it happen despite that but that doesn't mean she has to admit that he has more of a chance of making it happen than they might think.
She also won't admit that more range would probably help her. She's pretty sure she's better sticking to what she knows.]
But I guess you're right. You wouldn't get to hang around an arcade all day if you changed jobs, right?
no subject
[it has its perks for sure!] You still gotta come by sometime, I could get you in for free. [ryuji smiled at the thought, still swaying to the rhythm of the slow music.]
no subject
[Typical Ryuji, well-meaning but Ann can't help but point out the flaw in offering free entry to a place that's free until you start playing the games.
Besides.]
Anyway, I've swung by a couple of times but apparently never during your shifts. Or I guess they always have you busy somewhere else whenever I've been there.
no subject
I mean- I can get you to play the games for free! And uh... oh, shit. Well, seriously text me before yo show up or somethin' and I'll let ya know if I'm workin' or not.
[it was a good thing he stopped either way, since the song was now over. ryuji just kind of shrugged at ann before stepping off to the side.]
I need a break either way here.
no subject
[And she doesn't want to be a reason for him to get in trouble.
As he mentions needing a break, Ann takes a half-step with him before she catches herself. If he needs time to himself, her following him isn't going to do much to achieve that.]
Oh, sure. I'll come find you later?
[Not that she wants to abandon him. But she doesn't want to smother him either.]
no subject
[he nodded at her words now. he did want to hang out with ann a bit more, but being here and dancing and having a good time... it still felt weirdly wrong without mimi around.]
Yeah, find me.
[he just scratched the back of his head before he walked away.
ryuji had decided he needed some fresh air, so he had gone outside and began walking down the street near the hall. he took in a deep breath as he walked, just thinking about everything. so, this meant he was single again, wasn't he? not like mimi and him could do a long distance relationship since she wasn't here anymore and he had no way of contacting her.
ah well. it was nice while it lasted.
by the time ann finds him he had wandered to a nearby park by the hall, sitting on one of the swings and he was staring down at the gravel.]
no subject
Between that and making sure her other friends are doing okay, it takes a while for her to notice that Ryuji doesn't seem to be anywhere in the hall. To a point, it's simple enough to assume that he's just somewhere else and that they keep missing each other - especially with how many people are here - but eventually she has to admit to herself that she's worried.
She doesn't seek out any of the others - if she can't find him then she may have to, but she'd rather not disrupt their evenings if she can help it. Despite Ren's comment that she's not there to babysit them all, she does feel a degree of responsibility in looking out for Ryuji and so she heads out, scanning the immediate area around the hall and asking anyone who seems to be working on the door if they've seen anyone of Ryuji's description.
Eventually she finds her way to the park, slipping off her shoes as she reaches the grass and realises she's probably better off barefoot, at least for now. It doesn't take her long to spot the lone figure by the swings and she makes her way over, gesturing to the swing next to his.]
Mind if I join you?
no subject
he was sad on her behalf as well, since she probably wanted to stay here. and stay with him.
ryuji let out a groan at his own thoughts, rubbing his eyes. man, he needed to pull himself together, this wasn't like him at all. it was then he looked up at the sound of ann's voice, and he just blinked at her before nodding.]
All yours. [it was good that ann was so determined to find him, and not to leave him alone. though he did wonder why she was so set on keeping him company.]
You know, I said to come find me but... I'm surprised you actually did. Are you that worried about me?
no subject
[She carefully lowers herself into the swing's seat, taking care not to sit on part of her dress. It's a moment that allows her to compose her thoughts, though she's still wholly convinced that she's doing nothing that she wouldn't do for any of her other friends who needed her.
Too bad his being one of her best friends does nothing to equip her with experience of this kind of heartbreak. But she owes it to him to try.]
I mean...I know I can't really say much to make things better. I've never dealt with something like this before...but I know it's important that you know you can talk to me, if you need to. Or even if you don't, at least you're not dealing with this by yourself, right?
[Because she does know that trying to handle difficult situations alone tends to end badly, even if the situations she's thinking of are rather different.]
no subject
ryuji just pushed off the swing, moving a little more and pumping himself so he could gain more momentum.]
Yeah... thanks Ann. [he says this as he keeps on moving on the swing.] I just gotta get over it. I'll bounce back soon enough I'm just feeling kinda... sad. But-!
[and he skids to a halt! stopping himself on the swing.]
Dammit! I can't keep moping like this! Eff that! What did you do when you're feelin' kinda down and need a pick-me-up?
no subject
[Which is the closest analogy she has, after all that happened with Shiho. The fact that Shiho is here doesn't change how upset Ann had been back home and she might as well use what experience she does have here, if it'll help even a little.]
But if I don't want to be sad, I usually treat myself. Go shopping or go get dessert somewhere. And it helps that I have friends now I can do these things with, who won't mind if I need a moment to be sad even if I'm trying not to be.
[And here she looks to Ryuji again, hoping her point gets across. If he wants to be sad, she wants him to know he can be sad around her and she won't think less of him for it.]
no subject
...s'aight Ann, I getcha. When I wanna get into a better mood, usually I go for a run.
[which does help! now that he's training way more to get his body back into shape, and to work his leg again.]
I probably just need... lots of time. And in the meantime- [ryuji scratches his head, thinking about what he should be doing next really.]
I'm probably just gonna focus on... stuff. Like how to be a Phantom Thief again.
no subject
[She's not volunteering right now because there is no way she's running in this outfit. If Ryuji can see the possibility for something he already does to help him, that's enough for now.
Though she's not sure she would have counted the Phantom Thief side in that. Even knowing as she does how keen Ryuji is for them to band together again here, it still takes her a little off-guard.]
Well...we still don't know if that's even possible. Not in the ways we're used to, anyway. So...I don't know, are we going the bounty hunter route? That's the closest thing I can think of that I've seen here so far.
