GENESSIA PROM!

I - SETUP (12:00pm-5:00pm)

For any and all who agreed to help with the decorations, this would be the time to gather at the Hotel. A large list of assignments will be posted on the wall near the entrance, with duties including but not limited to:

1. Setting Tables, including placement of centerpieces
2. Wall and ceiling decorations, involving a lot of
gossamer drapery and lights
3. Preparing the buffet table, with a mixture of hot and cold foods, as well as a separate table at the end for delectable deserts
4. Getting all necessary equipment on stage for the Live Band to perform.  Sound Checks may occur throughout.
5. A side dressing room area set up exclusively for those who volunteered to take the time to get ready themselves, including special hair and makeup stations and a large rack to hang their dresses & shoes to change into later

II - HOTEL LOBBY (6:30pm onward)

Cozy and luxurious in its own right, those who arrive before Prom is scheduled to begin will be allowed to lounge in the Hotel Lobby for a spell. Meeting and greeting other early birds and partaking in a select few hors d'oeuvre made available while waiting for the doors to open

III. - PROM PHOTOS!

In the far corner of the lobby, a cute backdrop will be set up, ready for any and all couples/groups/brave souls going stag for the evening to take a memorable photograph! Selfies are welcome throughout, but for those desiring a more professional setup, Hikari Yagami will be on hand for the first and last hours of the night for "official" Prom Photos.

Smile, everyone!

IV - EATING/DRINKING

With a "bar" consisting of 90% nonalcoholic beverages--the remaining ten percent reserved for of age chaperones--and a buffet table spanning the length of the side wall, there will be no shortage of food options that night!  Hot pasta dishes, cold sandwiches, fruits, vegetable platters, and a special end section devoted to some of the best sweets Genessia's bakeries have to offer!

Of course, what prom would be complete without the traditional Fruit Bowl Punch?  Better get a sip in early, though...because some traditions never die, and it's not like those in charge can keep an eye on that bowl the entire night, can they?

V. - DANCE FLOOR

With a live band (Thank you, Professor!) ready to rock, you'll soon be dancing the night away, under ethereal decorations that will really make you feel like you're dancing among the stars!

In between sets, there will be a DJ spinning a mixture of slow dances, crowd favorites, and songs that'll really get the party rockin'
(LMFAO style).

VI. - CHAPERONES

Because somebody's got to make sure the kids behave.

Hopefully actual adults who can behave themselves.

VII. - MINGLING/MISC.

What other shenanigans could the teens and tweens of Genessia possible get up to?  The night is young, and so are they~

[ She nods. Why not? Dangerous or not, the chance to see something like that overrides any fear she may have.

Her smile fades just a little though at his worry that he might be removed from it. ]

Hopefully that is not the case. I know not how such things work in a realm like this, but with any luck there may yet be a connection to your Fade. [ She smiles again, reaching out to pat his hand lightly with one of her own. ] It sounds exciting, though. I would never wish to pass up such an opportunity.

[he hadn't expected her to touch him, and he almost draws his hand away. Except, in the last moment he takes his opportunity to take her by the hand to look at the softly glowing lines on her hand. He's STILL fascinated by this.]

These lines are still remarkable. The way they glow reminds me of lyrium, but it's altogether different...

[ She probably should have asked, but old habits and all that. Thankfully, Solas seems fairly receptive of the contact — more receptive than even she anticipated. Save for the faint look of surprise however, she doesn't retract her hand.

If he touches any of the lines - and chances are he will, given how many curve around her fingers - there's a spark of energy, and a faint tingle against the skin. ]

Forgive me for asking so many questions, but now I am curious as to what Lyrium may be. A magical element where you are from?

[solas slightly approves.]

You don't need to apologize for seeking answers. In fact I find it quite admirable. [he hadn't expected th spark, but doesn't find it unordinary -- it makes sense, given what these lines are for her.]

Raw Lyrium is a mineral, a volatile one. It can cause those who come in contact with it to get quite sick, or even die. But refined, it can be quite useful, and can strengthen a mages' abilities, their connection to the fade.

Unfortunate as it may be for some that we are here, I believe we should take advantage of the opportunity we have been given. It is not often we can learn such things from others from worlds that are not our own.

[ Not often as in NEVER. ]

I see. And is it required, or simply a benefit? [ a beat. ] Would you need it here, I mean.

No, and it more often than not turns into a detriment, putting mages in danger if they use too much. [he goes on for a moment about various side effects, conscious dreaming in the fade, death, all potentially terrible.]

And of course, there is Red Lyrium, but I am no expert on that. [a particular dwarf he knows, however, is.] But I am doing most of the talking. I apologize.
invigorates: (You have to mash it to murder.)

[ Her brows furrow slightly. She cannot say she is a fan of Lyrium and the side affects it can cause in mages. Solas hasn't even told her the fun part about Templars either. ]

Do not apologize, I am happy to listen. [ Her hand twitches, reflexively moving to dismiss his words with a wave when she realizes he's still holding onto it. Ah. ] You are free to ask questions of me, of course, should that help.

[a first. It's not unusual that he gets bored looks. And it's true, he's not even talked about the Bad Stuff.]

I'm curious about how your magic works, actually. Perhaps it is presumptious, but it must have something to do with these leylines, correct? I can feel the energy coming from them.

[it's fascinating, honestly. It must mean there are plenty of concequences to exhausting her magic, or benefits otherwise. So many questions. But for now, he's going to finally release her hand, mostly out of politeness.]
invigorates: (i hear flower crowns are popular rn)

[ Once released, she slowly eases her hand back, letting it settle in her lap with the other. She cants her head to the side, glancing off as she considers her answer. It's not a question she gets often, nor one she knows how to explain in words because, well, it's just kind of natural for her? Hard to explain something you've just known for six centuries. ]

You are correct. They act like ... conduits, I suppose, helping to channel our magic in different ways. It keeps us alive, for one, but when we craft spells we take some of that energy from inside of us and mold it as we see fit. Help from the elements makes the process less of a strain. Healing works a little differently — it is like giving a piece of ourselves to those that we heal.

We recover slowly, feeding from the Earth but never enough to disrupt the balance around us. Should we exert ourselves too much, we can rest or partake in food. Otherwise, we do not need much of either.

Fascinating. I would be interested in seeing how you work your magic sometime.[to have a connection with ones magic like that, and the world around you... amazing.]

And what of the others from your world? Or is your race the only one that exists? [it would be less interesting if that were true, but on the other hand, it almost seems idyllic.]
invigorates: with this coconut! (I’m gonna fuck that bird)

[personal profile] invigorates 2018-06-03 04:50 am (UTC)(link)
I work at the hospital, should you ever wish to see me heal, at least. Aside from that, I am certain something could be arranged.

[ She chuckles, shaking her head. ] No, no. There are plenty of others. Humans, as there seem to be everywhere. They can learn magic, but only through intense lessons and their elder mages - nothing is inherent in them. The Solari, near polar opposites of my people, steal from living creatures to fuel their own abilities. [ She crinkles her nose, obviously not super into that aspect of their magic. ] Dragons, beasts of elements and Seers of the future.

[ She starts to ramble, and realizes halfway through explaining something that she's doing it. Her cheeks light up - literally. ] Oh, but now I am talking too much!

[Solas doesn't often laugh, but this does get him to smile.]

I'm afraid I didn't notice. You had my rapt attention the entire time. I'd love to hear more about these Solari, as distasteful as the subject of them seems to be with you. They seem quite the opposite to your own culture.

[It's interesting how dual natured they seem to be, and he has to wonder if the world she's from would have developed as it did without the yin and the yang of the two races, so to speak.

His interest in humans is, of course, negligable.]
invigorates: with your fashion decisions (looks like people are having trouble)

[personal profile] invigorates 2018-06-03 05:15 pm (UTC)(link)
[ She exhales a quiet sigh of relief, glad that she hadn't somehow bored her new friend (?) with her rambling. It's not often that someone else is as excited as she is to just listen to people talk. ]

I have met only few Solari in my life, and most of them were not happy to see me. They are beautiful creatures - tall, a pale golden yellow reminiscent of sunbeams, but their methods of using magic are not nearly as lovely.

They take what is not theirs; suck the life and soul from living creatures and the world around them to twist as they see fit. They give nothing back, and in turn many animals and even other races of people are killed for it.

[ It's not something she's fond of, but on the other hand: ] I can at least take solace in knowing not all of them enjoy this cultural upbringing. Though I surely cannot fault those that do — it is how they were born, how they were taught.
