GENESSIA PROM!

I - SETUP (12:00pm-5:00pm)

For any and all who agreed to help with the decorations, this would be the time to gather at the Hotel. A large list of assignments will be posted on the wall near the entrance, with duties including but not limited to:

1. Setting Tables, including placement of centerpieces
2. Wall and ceiling decorations, involving a lot of
gossamer drapery and lights
3. Preparing the buffet table, with a mixture of hot and cold foods, as well as a separate table at the end for delectable deserts
4. Getting all necessary equipment on stage for the Live Band to perform.  Sound Checks may occur throughout.
5. A side dressing room area set up exclusively for those who volunteered to take the time to get ready themselves, including special hair and makeup stations and a large rack to hang their dresses & shoes to change into later

II - HOTEL LOBBY (6:30pm onward)

Cozy and luxurious in its own right, those who arrive before Prom is scheduled to begin will be allowed to lounge in the Hotel Lobby for a spell. Meeting and greeting other early birds and partaking in a select few hors d'oeuvre made available while waiting for the doors to open

III. - PROM PHOTOS!

In the far corner of the lobby, a cute backdrop will be set up, ready for any and all couples/groups/brave souls going stag for the evening to take a memorable photograph! Selfies are welcome throughout, but for those desiring a more professional setup, Hikari Yagami will be on hand for the first and last hours of the night for "official" Prom Photos.

Smile, everyone!

IV - EATING/DRINKING

With a "bar" consisting of 90% nonalcoholic beverages--the remaining ten percent reserved for of age chaperones--and a buffet table spanning the length of the side wall, there will be no shortage of food options that night!  Hot pasta dishes, cold sandwiches, fruits, vegetable platters, and a special end section devoted to some of the best sweets Genessia's bakeries have to offer!

Of course, what prom would be complete without the traditional Fruit Bowl Punch?  Better get a sip in early, though...because some traditions never die, and it's not like those in charge can keep an eye on that bowl the entire night, can they?

V. - DANCE FLOOR

With a live band (Thank you, Professor!) ready to rock, you'll soon be dancing the night away, under ethereal decorations that will really make you feel like you're dancing among the stars!

In between sets, there will be a DJ spinning a mixture of slow dances, crowd favorites, and songs that'll really get the party rockin'
(LMFAO style).

VI. - CHAPERONES

Because somebody's got to make sure the kids behave.

Hopefully actual adults who can behave themselves.

VII. - MINGLING/MISC.

What other shenanigans could the teens and tweens of Genessia possible get up to?  The night is young, and so are they~

[It's hard times for the grovel-starved everywhere.]

Aheh, "beings"? Interesting word choice...

["People" would've been his preferred address. He leans forward, steepling his hands pensively.]

The reason for that, as best as I can guess, if that we...well, exhibit life the best. Or at least as compatibly as Genessia likes.

[There's no easy way to say this that doesn't put a pall on those who went away, many of whom Ted dearly missed. But hey, truth hurts.]

We know that that, however vaguely, is the internal quality Genessia seeks. And...well, haven't you noticed a kind of ennui on those who leave? They don't socialize as much. Don't strike up new acquaintances or get up to any novel adventures or mischief. Less active with their communicators. Settle into routines.

That's my best guess, anyway. When people begin to sleepwalk through life...the world's about as done with them as they are with Genessia.

[The mention of Luke gets a solemn nod. Hoo, things are getting dark. How about a joke?]

Heh, not fond of entrusting to your mother, eh? Well, you'll find the GSRF to be cagey; they won't tell unless you ask the right questions. I know all they do anyway; you might as well ask me.

[Once he knew the "Trick", he circumvented their methods and badgered the poor secretaries until they threw their hands up and satisfied every curiosity they could. He would feel bad for them, but then remembered they weren't people and, even so, worked for Weiss, and thus quickly forgot about it.]

Is it? I figured you would have seen even more differing species about here than I.

[That said she takes in Ted's hypothesis with an attentive look. It certainly sounds plausible.]

That seems sound, though I have a more difficult time gathering data on those that actually do vanish. It certainly feels like Genessia has been more populated than usual these last couple months based on the network transmissions though.

Interesting thought; but what I suspect is that one of the various spirits within the know the actual answer.

[A pause, then her brow raises. Ragyo?]

If it were only that simple. But that is useful to know, about the GSRF. At the moment my mind is a bit scattered, so I believe it would be best to direct my questions to you at a later date.

Ahah, you were trying to be broad. Well, the species all act human enough. I can't say the souls of any were especially alien.

[Ted may well be the strangest creature of them all.]

Thaha, yes, getting data on those who aren't here must be tremendously difficult. 'Tis rather a work of history, or etiology.

You think we're getting a surplus? I can't say the ratio of churn has gotten better; for every one that comes in, another goes out. Memoria Park will tell as much.

Oh, no that's the answer the spirits gave exactly. They search for those with "compatibility" in order to demonstrate life. Vague, granted, but as about half of us make the cut, it would seem even they're not entirely sure what they're after and about.

[Even Ted can sense that if she wasn't in the partying mood before, she definitely wasn't now with thoughts so perturbed.]

I see. Would you like some time to mingle with others?

Hmn.

[Satsuki would say she looks more at talents than souls, but she does nod- both to the mention of difficult tasks as well as the plausibility that her assessment may not be accurate. If only Inumuta were here to crunch the hard numbers...]

That is... annoyingly vague. But not unexpected. It is tricky figuring out what the 'correct' question to ask is.

[Mingling? She'll probably just wander and stare at Hikari like a creeper again, tbh. But she does have one more question.]

I have a question first. Do you know what you would wish for if you had the opportunity to make one here?

Eheh, just like the spirits, eh? One wonders why they're so shy of telling things. Then again, it's not unheard of for sensitive information to be abused.

[Hence why people are starting to find him a little cagey himself. There's a slight tensing of his face when she asks about a wish, for he has the means for one already, and has yet to decide what to do.]

...no, not exactly. If it were to secure a good only a wish could grant, I'd go for whatever the highest good was so available. Probably to...save someone, or remove an obstacle in saving them if other means wouldn't avail. This world is so obviously imperiled, despite the...

[He looked around at the fancy ball with an ironical smile.]

Celebrations we keep. Not that I don't enjoy them, mind.

If they are anything like me, it is likely a 'need to know' line of thinking. Though your theory also stands true; a certain vampire is a shining example of that.

[As for Ted's wish, Satsuki can't say she's surprised with his response, just disappointed. How disgustingly saccharine (given her interpretation of the word 'save' in this case), and her frown increases.

At least she doesn't find the slightest thing suspicious about his tension. She shakes her head.
]

... I suspected as such. I would wish for a tool to move forward.

[And with that she gets to her feet.]

I shall be on my way, then. There is someone I would like to catch up with- though I shan't be too long.

And yet, they dole that knowledge so out like a reward, seemingly irrespective of need. Their behavior is very queer.

[If only Satsuki had more varied expressions than frowning, her displeasure would be easier to detect. As it is, he straightens up, and smiles.]

"Forward", eh? A comparative with a conspicuously absent superlative. Forward to what, I wonder?

[But he's content to let that, and her, go.]

Oh, take your time. The night's still young, and there's dancing yet to do.
