[Recently, Uai gave Azura a lamp.

This may seem like a simple gesture. Maybe even friendly. Or real dumb. But to Uai, it’s a very intimate gesture. He was taught to court girls through bird courtship rituals, like nest building. Offering Azura a pretty piece of furniture for her nest/bedroom was really forward of him! It was supposed to indicate that he wants to invite her to the masquerade!

Somehow, the point didn’t get across. What a mystery.]

I gave a girl a lamp, but I don’t think she understands what that means.

Is this not how humans show interest in one another?

It was a blue lamp, btw. It even came with a lamp shade. So it’s not as if I was being very subtle.

[Subtle isn’t the problem here.]

[Action : Fate Estate]

[The discovery of his monster change does not go over well with Uai. He had only gone to his aptly named vanity to clean his face, when he instead finds the problem is much more than dirt from the day. There are scales across his cheeks and around his now reptilian eyes, and he is immediately reminded of his true form. Or, you know... What it would look like with skin.

So after a panic attack, )

Uai eventually puts a blanket over his head as a final problem solving tactic. He wandered the estate briefly, but that ended with him collecting all of the silverware into a nice, shiny pile in his bedroom. Where he will now stay. Curled up with his blanket, rising panic, and a lot of knives. Good combo.]

[Voice]

This place has a really cruel sense of humor. Do we know how long this will last? Did anyone else turn into something hilarious?

[The tricky thing about having such explosive powers was having no safe way to test them. The especially tricky thing about having Ted's personality was wanting to anyway. Explosions are just energy, right? Which meant propulsion. Which could mean flight.

That's why he's in some natural clearing in Fayren, hopefully free from any innocent bystanders or other threats of collateral damage. He scanned the area, keeping an ear out for signs of life. The coast looked clear, but then, his observation isn't the best.]

All right, now if I can just center it properly...

[Conceptually it's simple: using the mysterious walls and manipulation of his void and the interplay it had with the life fibers, he'd create an antimatter explosion, then funnel it for lift-off like a rocket ship. That shouldn't be too hard; a gram--no, half a gram, should be safe.

An ear-splitting boom and blinding flash of light followed, scorching the ground and sending him skyward like a Roman candle on steroids.]

AAAAAHHHHHH!

[Turns out antimatter is far more potent than he thought. His shouting's cut short when he collides with Genessia's barrier with a thunderous thud. He lost consciousness, and with it his control over the direction of the explosive charge. It fanned out in a final flare of light, and then he fell from the heavens like Lucifer.

The impact was the last attention-getting noise he'd make for that day, nestled in the crater of his own make. There he lied: an inky unconscious sprawl of black threads. One might hear him muttering something, in his fits of consciousness.]

Eh heh heh...darkness, or light? Which deserves more fear?

[Anyone who’s spoken to Bulla for more than five minutes will know that there’s something off about her when she turns on the network post. The small smile she offers the network doesn’t reach her eyes and seems to be more of an automatic gesture rather than a sincerely happy smile.]

The Dream Docks sure are interesting. I thought I'd get memories of home, but instead I got memories of another world.

[That’s one way to describe all the memories that have flooded her mind. Memories that somehow happened at the same time as other ones.]

I’d love to hear from anyone who has multiversal experience. This is now multiverse number three for me. Weird, huh?

[Like her smile, her cheer doesn’t seem genuine so much as it’s just going through the motions to pretend that she’s okay.]

I hope I didn’t miss anything too interesting while I was away.

 [ video ]

[The feed cuts on to show Uai, his cosmetics routine perfected to hide his stress. Since his disaster of a conversation with Rose, he's been overthinking and talking less. It has not proven to be a good way to deal with his problems.]

... Soooo. What's the general opinion on the Dream Docks? Do they work? Is it worth it? [...] And also~ Opinion on things like... If your home is sort of better without you. Do you just not go back? Sorta occurred to me recently that we're not all swell people. Also, what's prison like here?

And I'm just curious and morbid, as usual. But look! [He swings the camera to show a display of bread. LOTS of bread. His kitchen counter is basically a bread store now, with every shape and flour you could imagine. There are even some sweets on display.] I have bribery bread. So answers would be rewarded.

[It's actually stress baking. Not the point.]

[ action : Fate's Estate ]

[That stress baking has been going on for a few days. Uai has sort of taken over the kitchen, actually. He's there a lot anyway, since cooking and taking care of people comes naturally. But his recent bout of stress baking has sort of gotten out of hand and someone should come whack him with one of the bread loaves.

For now, he waves in greeting whenever someone comes by. He's smiling, too, despite all of the stress.]

What do you need? I'll get it for you.

Video

[The phone's angled oddly, displaying the damaged head of a stuffed bear. Somehow its very exposed stuffing still held together.]

Like this?

Yup, that's perfect buddy! Thanks. Ahem! My good and only friend Ted just wanted to say that if you're having a doll problem, look him up! He's got a surefire method to keep those jerks off your back, guaranteed! Of course, you'd never do that to me, would you?

[It turned its fuzzy head to look up along the arm propping the phone. It received a mournful, soft "no".]

Course ya wouldn't! We're way past distrust in our relationship. Besides, if you did, I'd set off my necrobomb! What's a necrobomb, you're probably wondering? Glad you asked! It's a lot like a normal bomb, what with the huge explosion and the death. Only this one's magic, so I can set it off whenever!

...Just kidding!

["You are?", a far-off Ted asked with reluctant hope.]

For sure! My bomb's much worse. You'd only die if you're lucky! What'll probably happen is you being blown to bits, only for those bits to come together into some hideous, gelatinous mass of undeath where you silently yearn for an end that'll never come! So if anybody has any bright ideas about separating true blue friends like us, have another think on it, why don'tcha? Who knows how many casualties you'd cause! Anything else you wanted to say, my beary best friend?

[There's some mournful mumbling.]

Okay! Marc, Star, Uai, and some other losers that aren't worth your time, he says he's sorry he can't show up for lessons for a while. Man, what a kidder! Don't you worry Ted, we're gonna have so much fun you won't ever wanna leave! Cause, ya know. If you did then there'd be a whole lotta corpses to answer for, y'know?

That's all; bye!

Action - Everglade

[So long as Ted's stuck in Everglade, he's doing his usual: altruism and avoiding people. He's happy to stuff any unwanted dolls into his personal voidspace; his own, however, likes to be handheld and entertained. The miserable pair are plodding along one foggy road in particular, when the deranged bear stops walking.]

You're so funny, Ted! Tell me a joke.

...Want to hear a joke about construction?

Sure!

I'm still working on it.

Heeheeeheehee! Good one!

[The bear's rolling on its back like the Pillsbury Doughboy. Maybe you can give him a brief respite from his hell. Just don't make the bear jealous.]

Genessia Carnival

The week of the carnival has arrived! With the combined effort of paid workers, volunteers, Azura, and those Azura decided were going to help her (Looking at you Fam), the setup has gone without a hitch. Those who come by the large park in Genessia City during the morning and afternoon of the 16th will see the carnival in various stages of completion. It isn't the sun starts to set and the sky begins to burn the colors of pink and orange with a topping of blue that the lights on the carnival tents and other structures come to life.

THE CARNIVAL IS ON.

It's clear that the carnival takes up almost all of the park; it's setup done so that the rides, attractions, booths and other assorted portions of the carnival are setup around ponds and lakes and take advantage of paths in the park. At the entrance are a myriad of food stalls, while the bigger rides are further in the back. In between are smaller attractions like games, but more importantly this is where all of the booths for the residents are set up. Several rows deep, the offerings here are wildly different and each engaging in its own way. Lastly, the larger attractions of the Carnival are organized in the large central portion of the carnival where a large area has been cleared and sectioned off in 4 large rectangles to house each with plenty of room.

Carnival Fare

  1. Food And Drink - There are so many smells that sometimes your nose might be confused. From the scent of roasting meat, to the smell of sugary sweet cotton candy, the myriad of scents mingle throughout the whole carnival. There's an entire section of picnic tables for carnival goers to take a load off and eat their fill. The admission ticket even paid for complimentary drinks! However, there are plenty of stalls that are offering much more interesting options, including alcohol (for adults only!). Food ranges in price of course, and unfortunately there are a few stalls that might be overpricing their food...

  2. Rides and Attractions - The carnival isn't complete without classic carnival rides. There's a ferris wheel, teacups, several different merry-go-rounds, as well as a SUPER ROMANTIC Tunnel of Love. For the more adventurous there's even a few smaller sized roller coasters as well as an interesting looking magically powered water slide that's powered by a couple of local wizards and a "Doctor". One of the most popular rides seems to be the bumper cars, where each car has the chance to change shape on impact. Lastly for those who are brave enough there's a 2 story haunted house of mirrors full of jump scares and atmospheric music.

  3. Games and Stalls - THIS is where all of those stalls that were signed up for are. Of course, they make up the bulk of stalls, though the ones that are food oriented border the area mentioned earlier. Other booths such as shooting ranges, pingpong ball toss, fortune tellers, toy building booths and even a couple of booths where you can fish up your own little fish pet are here. Careful though, some of these booths are lowkey ripoffs, since they were largely built by volunteers. Should you get scammed it's wise to try and find security rather than handle it yourselves.

Main Attractions

  1. Randomized Plays - These plays are held nightly, but they're not your traditional plays. Participants are chosen from the audience who paid admission! On top of that, the roles are randomly assigned. You never really know what you're going to get, so in the end the plays come out a lot like improv. They're also largely hilarious, unintentionally or otherwise as often the two plays wind up intermingled! Once, Rumtumtugger wound up playing the part of Belle, while Gaston had to do a solo song all on his own... In the end, it'll be up to you what role your character plays, but it's never quite what's expected. Behind the scenes must be a riot no matter what!

  2. Obstacle Course - One attraction at the center of the carnival seems to weave around the other three, and out into the grounds itself. It's a complicated series of obstacles, from a pit of inky, oily water, to slippery bridges and swinging portions that need to be dodged. Portions of the course are even quite vertical, offering a strenuous climb as part of the challenge. This course is not for the faint of heart, and many will find themselves having to give up halfway through, or even being disqualified by being knocked out of the course. Those who choose to work together might make it farther but in the end only one can win. Be prepared for betrayal if you take that route...

  3. Eating Competition - There's not just one eating competition during the week of the carnival. Instead, several are held throughout the week. Hotdogs are first, followed by pancakes, then burgers. After that, towards the final three days of the carnival the bigger competitions start.
    • Hotdogs - how many can you eat in 5 minutes?
    • Pancakes - how many can you eat in 5 minutes?
    • Burgers - how many can you eat in 8 minutes?
    • Whole Chickens - You have 3, can you eat them all in 12 minutes?
    • Whole Turkey - You have an entire turkey, how much can you eat in 10 minutes?
    • 6 Tier Chocolate Cake - Finish the whole cake to win. (Hour Time Limit)
Those who have supernatural abilities are given an extra challenge to make things fair. For those who eat themselves sick there is a medical tent nearby, and of course plenty of room for a crowd of spectators.

  4. Jousting Competition - The colorful, campy and overall cheesy look of this jousting competition almost looks like a childish version of the competition. However, the prizes are real. Instead of the prize for the winning "knight" the winner of each match will be able to earn a fair sum of redbills! It's enough to cover the entry fee paid for the competition and then a couple hundred on top of that. Each participant chooses their weapon, but they all have different strange additional abilities depending on their color...
    • Yellow - sparkles on impact
    • Red - screams upon impact
    • Green - slimes whatever it hits
    • Blue - freezes what it touches for 3 seconds
For this competition special abilities beyond that of a normal human are dampened by special units hidden in the ring. Disabling them would of course, wind up in the participant being disqualified.

Do we have anymore information on the suspected dragon poaching incident in the paper?

I need to leave town for a while, but I can't do that knowing there might be a threat to Hana... Is Fayren's guardianship doing anything about it? Or anyone independent?

[All of this seems like a normal call... until you factor in that the video is cutting out and glitchy. Occasionally, dark shadows seem to seep out from around Uai. Blink, and they're disappear. He also seems more agitated than his usual, snarky self.]

[action : fayren / mountains]

[Why is he leaving town, you ask? Why, to glitch out, of course! Uai has been on a downward spiral for months now, and it's finally to a point that he can't ignore it. It's after an "npc" comments on his dark glitchy aura that he realizes it's becoming visible, so calls out of work. Even if someone (action prompt A) finds him leaving Fayren, with the inky aura fully visible, he'll eventually sneak off into the mountains.

There,  Uai can either be found (action prompt B) sleeping in a tree or seemingly passed out on the ground over the course of the next few days... or, you might be unfortunate enough to (action prompt C) run into some
skeleton dragons. Speaking of action prompt C:]

I'll make this quick. Are there any others here who manipulate time and space? Perhaps another 9th dimensional being who might recognize the "Grand Living Library" as a term? It seems so strange and unrealistic to think I'd be the only one in that category. I'd love to chat with you about how the omniverse is organized where you're from.

... Also! How do I set up a blind date? It's for a red haired demon, with a terrible personality. [And this is in no way filtered away from Kii either.] They probably don't deserve it, but I want to do them a favor. ♡

I'm also interested in learning how to vanquish a red haired demon, just in case. ♡

01 September 2018 @ 12:26 am
What is school like where you're from? Is it like here? How long are you expected to go for?

Do you learn about history and religion there or only history or only religion?

What are your world's teachings on different planes or dimensions? Is there a heaven and hell that are taught? Have there been wars about this? What's the worst depiction of hell, or best depiction of heaven?

In my world, religion is just something parents opt their children into, if they want. It's not even allowed in public classrooms in my country. People don't much believe in afterlife, and even less in the idea that supernatural beings take an interest in anyone's daily affairs. It's a little jarring how readily everyone accepts the existence of demons here. It just reminds me of the 80s when there was a lot of "Satanic Panic" and people thought if you played rock albums backwards it had codes to summoning demons to possessing people.

It seems like even if demons are real, humans probably don't understand them any better than the early myths about what made rain and thunder.

29 August 2018 @ 05:20 pm
Please don't think too deeply into this. I'm looking for some advice.

Any tips for dealing with loneliness? I'm missing some people from home.

Also, how do you summon demons?

[real smooth and subtle segway there. no one's gonna suspect a thing.]

(action - Fayren)

[When Uai isn't being a shitty person, or is at least being less awful, he's wandering Fayren in search of gifts. He can be found stopping at various stalls and examining just about everything: From clothes to jewelry, to little wooden puzzles. It's probably clear if you watch him for a while that he's shopping for a girl. It may also be obvious that he's stressing over this.]

20 August 2018 @ 01:13 pm
[Genessia City]

[The sound of galloping hooves can suddenly be heard through Genessia City, and anyone who may be paying attention will likely see what looks to be a black horse galloping through the city in what looks to be almost a panic.

Wait! A black horse.....and a flash of silver hooves and...was that a silver horn on it's head? The only way to catch said horse is likely to be a fast runner, or cut her off somewhere because this unicorn's fear instincts are running wild and confused at the moment.]

[Everywhere else]

[A few hours later, people are more likely to spot the unicorn much calmer. Hanging around her neck is a phone, though she wouldn't know how to use it or even really what it is. She may or may not still be a little skittish based on her instincts, but at least she's not galloping and out of her mind at the moment. She almost seems to be exploring this new and unusual place.]

[ooc Note: Since I've been asked, yes, everyone can see this unicorn for what she is. You do not have to be pure of heart or anything to do so.]

09 August 2018 @ 01:09 am
(She might be unrecognizable to the companions she has made, but she does look much more content. In Fayren, for those who care to seek her, rests a Unicorn under a tree. She is petite, moon white, cloven-hoofed and her eyes reflect all the wonders she has seen in the sea and on the land.)

If you can see me for what I am... (Some might be like the humans of her world - too blind to see the truth.) ...know that I now protect the forest of Fayren. No harm will befall it while I am here.

(Animals can be seen in the background, frolicking and forgetting their fear. Yet they do not approach her. She glances at them, watching over their play as if she is their guardian or mother.)

A word of advice.

If you don't know what a spell does, don't use it when you're so close to a large mana pool.

[ Noah does not look very happy. Though it seems more like she's exasperated than actually upset. Right now though, she was finishing setting up a barrier parameter around her home in Camp de Fae! Her bunnies, Pokemon and regular alike, are watching her curiously. ]

This can even happen to the pros, so we definitely don't need any more amateurs messing with magic they don't understand.  Safe to say if you have any nature powers and get too close to my house, I am going to end you.

[ You can practically hear how much she actually cares about a bounty. It's bunny defending all the way for this one. ]

[[Small note: this is mostly backdated, but you can poke Noah currently if you like, she'll probably just be venting.]]

30 July 2018 @ 04:48 pm
[It's been hard to address in words the disastrous call that ended up with Azura at his apartment. Uai puts on a show of being calm, collected, and thoughtful, but he is none of these things. Not to the degree he'd like to be, anyway. So after childishly letting the event go unaddressed for weeks, Uai owes it to Azura to say something.

He intended to keep it private. Like a stupid nerd, he's rehearsed his words many times so that he won't mess up. But while his words are finalized, Uai is still a clumsy idiot when it comes to his emotions. Enough so that, in his fluster, he's switched the video from private to public.]

Uh, Azura? Sorry about the other night. I didn't mean for you to be at my place so late, or for things to escalate like that. Could I buy you an  apology... something? Dinner, or a drink...? Do you like accessories?

[And now, finally realizing that he's made this public... Uai goes silent as it sinks in that he's embarrassed them both. ]

I should have just texted... Anyway! [acting like this was public on purpose:] Sounds like Fayren is a lot of trouble right now. Are magicks that backfire and corrupt people very common? Sounds like more risk than reward.  [hypocrite.]

I wonder what the consensus for dealing with that mage will be? Is it her fault for going crazy, or do we blame the magic?

[action - Fayren]
[After all of that humiliation, Uai can be found wandering around Fayren. He's trying to gather information on that nature mage from the newspaper, particularly about her corruption. He can be found popping in various magic stores and poking around to learn more about the magical artifacts in Fayren. He's also trying to find artifacts for undoing the spell and helping the spellcaster.

If he sees any pendent bearers, he's surprisingly quick to address them. Also, very quick to step out of their way in a paranoid attempt to avoid contact.]

Ah, sorry. I'm in your way. [He'll take a few steps back and hold his hands behind his back.] Are you shopping in Fayren because you're curious, or do you practice this type of magic?

19 July 2018 @ 02:05 am
[The video clicks on from atop a dresser, with a wide view of Uai’s Fayen bedroom. In the background: Utter chaos. Uai (blue is holding human Hana’s (purple) arm in one hand, while the other holds a purple toothbrush as menacing as one can hold a toothbrush.]

I told you to brush your teeth every day! You’re going to get cavities!

[Meanwhile on the other side of the ring, Hana is chomping at him, bumbles and grumbles that was garbled from leftover toothpaste attempts]

I won’t GET cavities! I’m not a person, I’m a dragon, and my teeth are NOT rocks..! Toothpaste tastes too good to rinse out toooooo…

[Uai squints at her.] We’re not taking chances with your teeth and all of that sugar you eat. A sweet tooth is fine. Rotting teeth are not. [He holds out the toothbrush.] I can’t believe I’m babysitting you.

[Hana tried to swat the toothbrush out of Uai’s hand like a cornered big cat]

This isn’t even my real form! If I really wanted to brush I would have to be myself...but we can’t. Too small in here. Like you said in the first place so.. [cue sticking her tongue out, but not before licking her teeth from the delicious paste.

At that, Uai makes 5 more tubes of toothpaste materialize between his fingers, like a confused dentist ninja.] Then let’s bring this outside. We have enough for your true form.

[He regards the camera, frowning.] Can someone please explain to her what a cavity is, before she gets one?

( tags will come from Hana/[personal profile] draconixaviarix (purple) & Uai (blue )

So. A quick PSA from your friendly Attleton Guardian. I see nobody has yet claimed the bounty on the air conditioning saboteur so I'm sweetening the pot. I'm doubling the reward out of pocket, and that goes for if you are the saboteur and turn yourself in to the authorities. This has gone on long enough, and needs to stop.

Secondly, a message to all bounty hunters. I don't want to follow Nova City's example in making Bounty Hunters register and effectively be deputized. However, if the Air Conditioning Saboteur or any other bounty for Attleton turns up dead you will be charged with murder, stand trial, and be forced to prove you didn't have a choice to save either yourself or another innocent. We're civilized, not fucking barbarians. I don't want to see any news stories about some bounty hunter going on a rampage with a weapon fashioned from the bodies of something else. That shit does not fly here. I will follow Nova's example if necessary.

Lastly, I'm still on the clock and everything but Sundays if anyone wants to contact me, I'm going to be in my shop, rather than the office.

[Private Message to all Deputies.]

I thought I should let y'all know that I went through the files available to the guardian, and moved any sensitive files to my place. I don't expect anyone to come looking for them without going through the proper channels, but I feel better keeping them at my place. They're more secure there.

[You see a large crying dragon that freshly flew to the ground and was hurt in your town.] Mmm..mm..Mother....Father........ [sniffles, her paws over her face, not even recognizing someone going towards her...good or bad!

But one noticeable thing is how it looks like her white fur is fading in the wind from the black flames of her heart. She is reactive...be warned!]

[[Action - B]]

[Hana composes herself and tries to head to the mountains to heal and to seek out her family. She calls out to them, but from walking as a dragon, she is bruised and has been tripping a lot. The bad luck had spread, and she's now jumpy as ever, so when she hears something, her fur and feathers poof out]

Wh-who's there?! Show yourself! [she snarls, blinded by her grief, it is noticeable that streaks of her fur is turning black from the black flames]

I'm not afraid to fight!

(A slender, white figure is sitting on the shore of a peaceful river. She is dripping wet, her knees drawn up to her chest. Warily, she glances at her communicator, pushing back her thick mane of white hair absently.)

You mustn't move too much or too fast in this heat. When you feel overwhelmed, find the shade of a tree or cool water.

(Amalthea closes her eyes and stretches out in the grass, resting on her side.)

This forest is like mine. I could rest...

(If her skin wasn't so sensitive to sunlight...bugs... How do humans stand it?)

Does anyone remember me?

Have you ever had a situation that was exacerbated by ignorance, and that more information might've helped? If you went through with revealing the truth or enlightening people, did it work, or backfire? What would you have done differently if you could?

[Ted's been taught by experience that his usual attempts to wake up others to matters of importance seldom work. Whether he should make the attempt, and whether such an attempt is likely to help or harm, is rapidly approaching relevance.]
