Genessia
Dinner & Date Auction

Azura has been working hard for the past month or so, organizing and preparing for the date auction. This year, due to it still being cold outside the auction and pre-party are being held inside. However, Azura and the people she has hired have put forth great effort to make the indoor venue appear as though it is outside during the spring. Trees and plants real and fake all decorate the large room, pathways being carved out by laying out stone pebbles to create the feel of garden paths. Flowers and other similar decorations accompany the greenery, the flowers mostly in deep, passionate reds, oranges and a few purples here and there. In the back of the room, there is a long stage with a walkway, littered with petals and lights that twinkle in the mood-lit room. Candles are set up along each of the tables that have obviously been set up for dinner service.

There is a small donation box set up at the entrance of the event, for anyone who wishes to donate to the cause of fixing up the starter apartments but doesn't wish to actually participate on the bidding event.

Pre-Party
In order for attendees to meet each other as well as interact with those who have decided to put their dates up for auction, a pre-party has been arranged, with the focal point being a nice, relaxed atmosphere dinner and dance afterwards. Everything is themed to be enjoyed in pairs, so if you want to have dinner or step onto the dance floor you better be ready to do so with a partner.

Speaking of, once people arrive they are asked for their name. Upon discerning what their last name (or first, in the case of characters without last names) they are given one of 6 colored ribbon bracelets.
A-D get Green or Blue
E-I get Blue or Pink
J-M get Red or Orange
N-R get Orange or Purple
S-V get Purple or Red
W-Z get Pink or Green
Your pairs must include matching ribbons!
  1. Mingle - The first step to meeting someone new is to talk to someone. This is what the ribbons are meant to do, of course. Maybe you notice someone with the same color ribbon as you are, and decide to strike up a conversation. It's also entirely possible that this whole ribbon idea seems foolish so of course that could be a topic as well. Those who decide to pair up with like-colored ribbons will be given a sheet of items to find (certain flowers, hidden marbles, dice, and other small objects) to look for as a sort of ice breaking scavenger hunt. Those who find a significant number can get free drinks!
  2. Dinner Party - Orders are taken at the tables when people come to sit down, with the choices ranging from roast chicken, steak, and pork to more vegetarian friendly options that include a vegetable soup, tofu burgers and other assortments. Wine for adults and juice for those who are underage are offered, with water also being an option for those who don't like either. Remember, in order to partake you need to find someone with the same color ribbon as you!
  3. Dancing - Throughout the night there's an assortment of music in style and tempo, and many attendees are already cutting a rug. At times there's even a dancing competition between two pairs to see who dances the best! It's all in good fun though, since there aren't really any prizes. Of course, attendees are required to dance with partners who have the same ribbon color as them! It's also encouraged to participate in the dances with someone you've yet to meet before.

Date Auction

After the dinner party and mingle, the auction gets under way! It's a classy affair, so anyone acting particularly out of control during the bidding is quietly ushered out to save them and everyone else the embarassment. During the bidding, bidders are to stay in their seats, using paddles to signal interest that they will be given once the time is right. Of course, since this is a charity, everyone is encouraged to be generous with their bids. All dates will start off at $100.00.Unfortunately for more shy bidders, there is no silent bid option. You're going to have to fight for those spectacular dates with everyone else!

Rules
  1. This is not an OOC popularity contest, please don't treat it as such.
  2. Bidding wars are HIGHLY encouraged.
  3. Bidding closes OOCly on January 16th.
  4. Dates are up to players to organize, the dates will not be played out in this post.
  5. You MUST have fun!!!

So, I've been working a lot lately and it slowly got me thinking about something else. So I have a question for all of you.

Do people here know what a Host Club is? I ask for a reason of something I am considering, but I think people might think of it differently.

oh, also for the holiday's outfits designed by Devilish Designs will have 30% off until the new year. As much as I am not usually one to do something like that, I figured if it draws in business, why not. So let me know if you are interested.

PS. After the snow monsters is everyone okay?

[Hanzo had been there for several days now. The AI hologram had told him the basics, and given him information on what needed to be done, but unfortunately hadn't gone over the details of how to do much else. Like focusing the camera.

He moves his hand back and forth to see if the motion is being captured, and when he's sure it's recording he clears his throat and begins to speak.]

Greetings. My name is Hanzo. I arrived here some days ago, and so far I was able to find one job at a non-profit clinic as a counselor. The pay is not ideal, and it may be necessary to find additional work to supplement the cost of living.

I grew up with an abundance of wealth, but right now I find myself not needing anything but the bare minimum. The trend is called minimalism, is it not?

Before I begin to ramble, the point of this is: Are there places to live within my price range? I do not need much space, or utilities. Just a roof over my head, and I can do the rest. Furthermore, I am unsure where I should pursue residence. Nova City seems most similar to the world I come from, but I am not opposed to something different.

[He lets out a sigh as he rubs his face and prepares to end the video message.]

May each of you enjoy the seasonal holiday you choose to, or not to celebrate. Though, is no one else annoyed at the enchanted snow people? The return to form even after I clear a wave of them with my spirit dragons. It is a headache.

Where may I buy sake?

[Allen didn't feel so great. His nose was blocked, his throat was sore and he was pretty sure he might be running a slight fever. But when he saw what was going on, he just couldn't help but want to charge in and help, illness be damned.

So he changed his innocence into its usual claw form as he set about ahead off to deal with the one closest to him, using his cowl to moving around the other, causing it to become confused for a moment while the young man landed on the other side.

After a brief moment and before he went into attack he found himself coughing slightly. Looks like the cold was having some effect on him as the snow monsters was slowly starting to walk up behind him.]

[Video turns on showing this blond young girl in a white dress with blue laces. If anyone pays attention whats behind her, they will see a set of small angel wings. The little angel smiles nervously.]

So.... from my understanding, this isn't the Netherworld, Celestia, or Earth. [She sounds a quite nervous too.]

I've never heard of a Genessia world. What kind of beings are here again?

[Flonne, that's why the hologram is there for.]

And I've never had a real job before, so how does that work? And how does one say 'Assassination' as a previous mission or job without making it sound so... vulgar on the application?

[But wait! She spazzes shaking one open palm on the screen.]

Not like I want something like that for a job again! If anything, maybe I can be a Hero's sidekick instead! Or I can cook.

Any helpful advice on job searching and applying would be helpful. Um, thank you for your time people of Genessia.

[Deep breath! She calms down, smiling warmly.]

Well, that worked out better than the last one. Okay! [Happy grin and fist pump!] Let's try this again! From the top!

[Wait...................Is that a confused angel? Yes it is.]

Why is it blinking red again?

[Blink. Blink. Worry!!!]

Oh no! It didn't?!

[More stare!! So much flailing! Finger pressing random buttons get ready for unpleasant noises from her phone until it shuts off.]

I hear there is an upcoming season for giving. If you are feeling generous toward strangers I would urge you all to make a donation to the Sheelal Trauma Center so we can continue to work with those who need our support.

We are, as always, also on the lookout for new staff. You may fill out the form or ask any questions here.

I thank you for your attention in this important matter.

01. [ACTION] Trying
[Well, here he is, trying out a pastime that doesn't include drinking. The sun is shining, he's picked a fashionable pair of swimming trunks—blue and patterned like origami paper somehow— and even donning a pair of sunglasses.

But instead of looking like he's here to have fun, he's got his arms crossed over his chest, the tattoed one in front. ... While he mostly stares out at the ocean, the waves washing up to lap at his toes. ...Relaxing is apparently a lot harder than he'd realized.

So instead, he turns on his heel and stalks towards his supplies and towel with the intention of leaving. It wasn't going to rain, maybe this was a bad idea. As he's leaving, he's going to shove the towel and sunscreen at someone, anyone. He ain't gonna use it.]

02. [ACTION] A headache.
[now that the loud and obnoxious party is done and over with for a while, Hanzo has decided that it's safe for him to spend some time at the beach. A sure fire way to get over any residual heat going on. He'll also be left alone, or so he hopes.

But he can't count on the entire beach being empty, so he's content to overlook the ones milling about or throwing Frisbees as long as they stay out of his way. Except, well. Sometimes Frisbees are hard to control and—

THWACK.

Whoever threw it better get ready to run. Hanzo sits up, pulling sunglasses off of his face and revealing a darkly angry glower—pointed right at the perpetrator.]

[[CONTENT WARNING: alcohol, drunkeness.]]

[For better or for worse, Hanzo has found himself a moment of quiet. The bad part is, is that he's been doing his best to keep himself busy. The good part is, he has several cans of beer to keep him company for the time being. Not exactly one for PUBLIC drinking, Hanzo has found a quiet corner in one of the larger parks to sit by the water and drink.

Genji disappeared back home over a month ago, and his brother's disappearance had been something he'd tried to ignore, but as feelings do when they're left to sit and grow sour it cut into his sleep and then his waking hours. Working at the shop with Cordelia had been something to keep him busy, but even there, he'd run out of things to do. His thoughts eventually drift to the one serious conversation he'd managed to have with Genji, and then the seeds of reconciliation that had been planted but not really come to fruition]

A wasted opportunity, you old fool. Not that you deserved redemption. [talking to himself, now. That's great. He looks down at the can in his hand and frowns, emptying it by tossing it back and then crushing it in his hand. It joins the rest of the dead soldiers next to him, and Hanzo shuts his eyes to let the pleasant swimming sensation shove the unpleasant feelings he'd rather avoid back into the void from where they came.]

[[OPTION ONE]] [Should someone approach him, he could still be sitting up staring into the water of the lake he's chosen to sit by, or, should they find him as the sun starts to dip over the horizon and it's begun to grow dark...

He's taking an impromptu nap in the grass.]

[[OPTION TWO]] [Eventually he's going to try to wander home. He's cleaned up after himself, but that doesn't mean he's sober. Not by a longshot. There's a blush to his face, and his steps, while carefully measured, still sway and hesitate slightly. At one point he stops his stroll to hold onto a iron fence post to steady himself, the once pleasant swimming feeling now decidedly overpowering at times. When he moves to walk again, he might just bump into someone, or stumble trying to avoid them.]

Fool.

[So, Karla's heard that this will be David Haller's last term as Guardian. While she can't fault him for it because he's worked long and hard, and he deserves his rest, it's already making her question her own future. What will it mean for her as a Deputy? Would she have to step down? Could she step up and become a Guardian? She doubts it.] But maybe if she had someone at her side?

I'm...curious about something. Do you think it would be wiser to have more than one Guardian for each city? It seemed to happen for a while in Nova City after Weiss stepped down. Perhaps no more than two. The Deputy system is effective, I think, so there's no reason to change that.

Anyway...what are your opinions?

[It didn't take Katsuki long to figure out All Might was gone. As angry as he was over the fact, there wasn't time to dwell on that when there was the issue of keeping a roof over his head. The abandonment stung, but All Might wasn't the cowardly type, meaning: he had either been taken or left against his will.

Knowing that, Katsuki needed redbills for both his goals. And as violent as he was, actually robbing a bank would be crossing the line, so he needed to find legitimate employment.

Easier said than done.]

Genessia

[You might catch him at a small, casual cafe, with a sour look and apron tied haphazardly on his waist as he prepares to scribble down your order.]

Hurry the fuck up, there's five other tables waiting for you!

[Needless to say, the young couple nearby was not pleased when their baby began crying after that.]

Attleton

[After being told upfront he needed to work on his people skills, he was promptly discharged. It was a fucking shitty restaurant to begin with. Maybe this bakery would pan out. The owners were intrigued by his explosive abilities and with all the robberies and crime, having a staff member who could follow a recipe and fight might prove to be a valuable asset--]

DIIIIIIIIIIIEEEE YOU SHITTY FLOUR!!!

[Until he got a little too trigger happy and accidentally blew up a hole in the kitchen. Passerby's would see the curling smoke and a cross looking teen scowling as the owners explained that he would have to pay damages. Fuck, now he was in debt. Fortunately, no one was hurt.]

Nova City

[Perhaps it was best if he stay away from food. A desperate manager had taken a chance on him and now he was stuck standing for hours under the fluorescent lights of a shoe store that boasted shoes that played music and could actually make you run faster. Katsuki's face went from flat and bored to outraged in a split second while he started yelling at a customer:]

What do you mean you don't know your own fucking shoe size?! DO YOUR RESEARCH BEFORE YOU BOTHER TO SHOP, YOU FUCKING BRAINLESS MICROBE!

🏹 01. Early Evening Drinks
[For those who are old enough to come into a bar, they may find Hanzo seated alone, a setup of sake sitting in front of him as he peers down at the cup full of the clear liquid in his hand. It's been an introspective night for him, now that he's had some time to think about a few of the arrivals from his home— most particularly his brother, Genji. For the most part it has resulted in Hanzo withdrawing from most social interaction, trending towards more introspective moments like this. It's almost as if a heavy cloud has settled around him, but it's not one that he's going to very easily open up about.

Instead, if someone approaches the bar where he's currently seated, he scoots over to make room for them, a slight nod coming from his direction to otherwise acknowledge their presence. He doesn't say much more before throwing back the rest of what's in his cup.]

Another, please. [he requests from the bartender, since he's almost out of his favored drink.]

🏹 02. Old Fashioned Bows
[With everything in the works storefront wise, Hanzo has taken some time to play around with a more old fashioned bow, made of mostly wood and metals. He's currently stringing the bow and being rather meticulous about it, seated at a bench near one of the many parks in Nova City. He's in a fairly good mood, all things considered, so approaching him might even wind up in a conversation rather than a glare and dismissal.

Once he finishes stringing the bow he turns to bits of metal he intends to carve into arrow heads. Apart from th It's a hard job but one he finds rather relaxing in the repetitive nature of it. Should someone approach at this point he won't notice them at first, his attention focused on the task at hand. That is, unless they make a noise or touch him, then in that case he will whirl around and fit them with a sour or irritated glance, depending on just how much of his personal space has been invaded...]

Do you mind?

Action
[That was one heck of a wake-up, and also a whole lot of information given about what happened and just where he was. It was helpful, really! No doubt about that, someone had worked hard to make sure those who found themselves here knew what was up.

Did not at all make a whole lot of sense, but there were weirder thing out there. Probably.

All the more reason Lucio was exploring, making sure his gear was secure and allowed him to skate along sidewalks—]
Yo-whoa-hey!

[Along with the sides of buildings when there was something weirder going on in the streets, leaping along and clearing himself on out of the way. Possibly clear over a few heads before touching back down on the sidewalk.]

Sorry! Gotta try and be more careful. [Didn't knock the cheer out of his voice even a little bit.

Was easy to catch sight of him in Genessia City, getting a feel for the place and the people around. A steady beat emanating from the "backpack" he was wearing that fed into the odd headphones he seemed to be wearing. Not loud enough to be an annoyance, but it was clearly music.]

Video
Hello, hello! Lúcio calling in-

[That is one cheery greeting from this young man. He still had some of his music playing, but it was turned down lower so he could easily be heard and hear anyone in turn. Just some nice background music if you asked him.]

This is one crazy place, isn't it? Still, folks here have all seemed to pull together even with all the stuff happening and everything.

[But, maybe cutting a little to the chase after spending so much time skating around and exploring...]

Since I'm new and all, figure I could ask for a little extra help. Good places to grab a meal? Fast food or not, easy to work up an appetite after taking a lot of this stuff in. Since some of y'all have been here for a while, figured you'd be the best to ask.

Who: Hanzo Shimada & [OPEN]
Where: Outside of Fayren and then Favnir Ruins in Fayren
When: Afternoon moving towards evening
What: Hanzo was approached by a citizen of Genessia to save their child who has gone missing near the Ruins in Fayren. Hanzo needs money so he's taking the request, intending to do it alone. This is not how things go
Rating: E. No warnings right now, will update if needed.

[A]Preparation
[Hanzo isn't one to take something lightly, and while he's also not exactly someone to go out and rescue a stranger's child, he's been offered enough money to do it and finds that he can't keep his conscience clear knowing there was a child that was in trouble and he did nothing. So here he is, currently at what amounts to an adventurer's outfitting store, gathering a few essentials he figures he might need.

Since he currently has his bow and a full quiver of arrows on his back, he cuts an imposing looking silhouette, especially considering the dour expression seemingly permanently affixed to his facial features. As it stands now, Hanzo is pouring over different sorts of health snacks, and a first aid kit. Already set aside are a couple of blankets and perhaps a coat that is decidedly child sized.]

"Will there be anything else, sir?"

...No. This will do. [Hanzo pulls out money to pay—thankfully he'd been prepaid by the man hiring him—and turns to leave in one fluid motion, supplies tucked under one arm. At least unless he bumps into someone. If no one stops him to ask questions, he leaves in a quick fashion.]

[B] At the Ruins
[Damn. He should have thought of this when he'd taken up this request. Currently, Hanzo was in a bit of a pickle, ducked behind a large tree while several dire wolves approached. Beyond them was a very, very large stone golem, its eyes glowing in the dark that Hanzo had THOUGHT would offer him cover. It did not offer as much as he thought. Quickly pulling out a different arrow than before, Hanzo pulls the string back on his bow and lines up his shot. He fires, missing the wolves and golem entirely. Luckily, it seems that this is what he wanted to do, as the arrow begins to pulse rhythmically, offering a faint glow over any moving objects.

It makes the monsters a lot easier to see, even ones Hanzo had not noticed. What's more, is if anyone is paying attention is that in the far distance the shape of a small crumpled child can be made out through the darkness. Hanzo has a long way to go. Well, hanzo, and whomever happens to be with him. How they wound up with him isn't important now, but hopefully they can pull their weight.]

We must move. Try to keep up.

I'm sure y'all are tired of hearing new folks coming here with the same old nonsense, so let's just cut to the chase:

Where's the best place for a man to get a drink? Ain't gotta be fancy neither. I'm not picky.

13 March 2018 @ 11:31 pm
A. Obligatory Pokemon Prompt
[He was trying to meditate, trying being the operative word ever since Hanzo found himself the caretaker of 3 rather busy Pokemon. Hanzo had found a particularly nature-esque part of Nova City, a park or something—and it even had a bit of flowing water. Mareanie currently resides in the riverbed, doing its best impression of it's currently meditating trainer, while Gible is... doing its best. (read: busy chewing on a rock and lumps of grass.) Rowlet, in all of her lazy glory was hanging out on a branch, upside down but intently watching anyone who came too close by.

....aaand also gently dropping one leaf after another atop Hanzo's head. It's about when the 5th leaf lands and causes the rest to topple off that Hanzo's patience snaps.]

that is ENOUGH! [unfortunately it's a sharp enough exclamation that it echos in the silence of the early morning around them. Rowlet herself, doesn't seem phased—just amused.]

B. Archery Practice
[Hanzo has no intention of letting his skill with a bow wane, though he is not using it much as of late. Which is why he's found a place to set up an archery practice range—or found one, at least. The arrows he's currently using are the simple sort, scatter arrows being far to dangerous to use for practice.

Currently, despite the hustle and bustle of other range users, Hanzo's focus remains steady, pinpoint focused on the target in front of him as he pulls the arrow back and adds a strong twist with a turn on his wrist.

[[a]]Should someone come by and break his concentration with a question, or bump into the archer's elbow the shot will go wild, the intended curve of the shot swinging wildly so that instead of hitting its intended target, the arrow lodges into the wooden side rail instead, causing Hanzo to murder a curse under his breath and shoot a dark, stabbing glare in the offender's direction.

[[b]]Should that NOT happen... The arrow springs from its taught position and curves sharply, landing on the farthest right target just as that target's user lands their own arrow, causing both arrows to split neatly in twain. Hanzo simply straightens, pleased with himself.]

C. Tea Snobbery
[One can only subsist on sake for so long, so seeking another beverage, and perhaps a moment of solitude that perhaps didnt include a certain blonde doctor checking in on him (MERCY PLS), Hanzo has found himself in a small tea shop tucked away in one of the many corners of Nova city. He's chosen an aromatic green tea, with the added aroma of some local flowers. Unfortunately, as he raises the cup to his lips, Hanzo's face twists as he chokes back the drink.

It's not a pleasant experience, and he winds up coughing for a moment, struck by the overly astringent flavor of the drink. It was definitely NOT what he had expected. Not to mention his calm and collected demeanor had been rudely shattered. He's a little embarrassed.]

Who can call this tea?

[he shoves the cup away much to the dismay of the waitress who had come over when he'd started talking. Hanzo ignores her and instead focuses his gaze on someone else about to partake.]

Do not bother, it has gone bitter. [Trust the angry looking old man. He's already gathering his things to make an exit, since he's long since paid his tab...]

D. Wild Card
[Nothing else works? Pick this and give me your best shot. Open to pretty much anything! Shoot me a PP or a PM if you're unsure.]

19 February 2018 @ 03:28 pm
➴ [ACTION] Shady Sellers

It is NOT for sale. [Hanzo's words cut through the crowded marketplace strip sharply, causing several of those people who are nearby to stop mid conversation and turn to where the archer is standing, currently fixing a hard eyed glare at another customer. The customer in question seems to be pointedly ignoring Hanzo's glare, having shrunk away after his initial harsh words -- but they're still eyeing the bow on his back. It's like NOTHING they've ever seen before, so of course they had to ask.

Hanzo, however sees it differently. He glances around at those who have decided to stand around and gawk, before turning on his heel with the intention to stalk away. Instead, he about faces into someone's chest, or back -- whichever it happens to be. Hanzo mutters something under his breath—a curse, a grumble— and mentally decides that he should have just stayed home today.

Eventually he steps back and addresses the other person]
Move.

[An apology would have been nicer, Hanzo.]

➴ [VIDEO] Drinks?

[He hadn't intended on video, but Hanzo isn't really concerned when it pops up as such. He's been here a few days, has gone through the usual disorienting arrival, and now he just wants suggestions on where he can go to get a drink.]

Of all the locations in this place, where could I find a good bottle of sake?

[At least this method of asking was convenient, he only has to ask once, and has the chance to get multiple opinions.]
