I - SETUP (12:00pm-5:00pm)

For any and all who agreed to help with the decorations, this would be the time to gather at the Hotel. A large list of assignments will be posted on the wall near the entrance, with duties including but not limited to:

1. Setting Tables, including placement of centerpieces
2. Wall and ceiling decorations, involving a lot of gossamer drapery and lights
3. Preparing the buffet table, with a mixture of hot and cold foods, as well as a separate table at the end for delectable deserts
4. Getting all necessary equipment on stage for the Live Band to perform.  Sound Checks may occur throughout.
5. A side dressing room area set up exclusively for those who volunteered to take the time to get ready themselves, including special hair and makeup stations and a large rack to hang their dresses & shoes to change into later

II - HOTEL LOBBY (6:30pm onward)

Cozy and luxurious in its own right, those who arrive before Prom is scheduled to begin will be allowed to lounge in the Hotel Lobby for a spell. Meeting and greeting other early birds and partaking in a select few hors d'oeuvre made available while waiting for the doors to open

 

III. - PROM PHOTOS!

In the far corner of the lobby, a cute backdrop will be set up, ready for any and all couples/groups/brave souls going stag for the evening to take a memorable photograph! Selfies are welcome throughout, but for those desiring a more professional setup, Hikari Yagami will be on hand for the first and last hours of the night for "official" Prom Photos.

IV - EATING/DRINKING

  

With a "bar" consisting of 90% nonalcoholic beverages--the remaining ten percent reserved for of age chaperones--and a buffet table spanning the length of the side wall, there will be no shortage of food options that night!  Hot pasta dishes, cold sandwiches, fruits, vegetable platters, and a special end section devoted to some of the best sweets Genessia's bakeries have to offer!

Of course, what prom would be complete without the traditional Fruit Bowl Punch?  Better get a sip in early, though...because some traditions never die, and it's not like those in charge can keep an eye on that bowl the entire night, can they?

V. - DANCE FLOOR

With a live band (Thank you, Professor!) ready to rock, you'll soon be dancing the night away, under ethereal decorations that will really make you feel like you're dancing among the stars!

In between sets, there will be a DJ spinning a mixture of slow dances, crowd favorites, and songs that'll really get the party rockin' (LMFAO style).

 

VI. - CHAPERONES

 

Because somebody's got to make sure the kids behave.

Hopefully actual adults who can behave themselves.

 

VII. - MINGLING/MISC.

☘ SETUP

[ Era arrives to help with some of the set-up mid afternoon. She can carry surprisingly heavy things if need be, and has an eye for aesthetic appeal, but is too short to really help with any of the decorating. Instead she lingers around the sound stage, vaguely familiar with some of the more modern technology like amps, electric guitars, and microphones, and makes herself available to anyone who may need an extra hand. ]

☘ HOTEL LOBBY

[ Knowing very few people doesn't bother Era as much as it might because this is something she's been through numerous times in the past. In Xistentia she made dear friends from striking up small conversations with strangers at social events. She isn't the greatest at vocal conversation - speaking more than a couple sentences at a time for extended periods is not something she enjoys unless it's scholarly discussion, at which point she will push her voice further than she might otherwise.

But she's alone in Genessia. While she has found a companion in Hanzo and Sertoria, and has begun to offer casual mentorship to at least one young warrior, it is a far cry from the numerous allies she made for herself both back home and in Xistentia. She misses the comradery and sense of safety she had, and she'll only have herself to blame for it if she doesn't do her best to socialize at this event.

So Era keeps an eye out for those who may be nearer to her own age or older (around their mid-twenties and above), tentatively introducing herself to the ones whose eyes don't linger for too long on her horns or tail. ]

☘ EATING/DRINKING

[ Food is something Era can get behind, and though she could probably devour the entirety of what's laid out before her she also has self-control and respect for others. Still, she can be found frequenting the buffet, eating halves of sandwiches and plates of pasta at regular intervals. She burns through a lot of aether on a daily basis and food is one of the best ways to replenish it.

She doesn't keep a close eye on the drinks, but that's more because she avoids them entirely. Too many times has she encountered poisoned beverages and so now she simply supplies her own. There is a glass flask of ... something colourful that she pulls out of a pocket that shouldn't fit something so large, sipping at it every now and then between bites. ]

☘ DANCE FLOOR

[ When not on stage playing her violin she can be found on the dance floor. Part of the reason she made her dress the length it was was that it would make it easier to dance without interference or worry she might step on her skirts.

Modern dance is something Era hasn't quite yet grasped, though not for lack of trying - her main dance partner over the past year has been Aymeric, and as an Ishgardian noble of high military rank he's more comfortable with a ballroom style of dance. Era has been teaching him other styles - things of a faster pace - but there has always been so much else to do and not enough time to do it all.

Gender of partner doesn't matter to Era (dance is dance is dance) and neither does height (she is 4'8" and her husband is 6'8", so she's quite accustomed to tall partners). She may not be the most exuberant conversationalist but Era is always happy to share the freeing joy of dance with anyone and everyone, offering her hand to wallflowers who look like they could use a bit of fun. If refused she kicks up no fuss - just smiles and continues on her way. There are people who just don't like dancing for various reasons, or don't feel comfortable dancing with strangers, and Era understands that.

Era dances alone as much as she seeks out others to dance with, and is always ready to shift her movements to accommodate someone stepping in to join her. Just make sure to keep your hands at her waist and no lower and you'll have no problems. ]

☘ CHAPERONE

[ While not an official chaperone of any sort, Era does feel a sense of responsibility to safeguard the younger partygoers. She lets them do as they like, ignoring anything that she doesn't deem a dangerous activity. If a teenager goes for alcohol she doesn't bat an eye (in Eorzea it's not a forbidden thing), or if perhaps a couple gets too handsy she doesn't intervene (unless one party is clearly disinterested).

Era is a warrior; a protector. What she keeps alert for is anything that may threaten the safety of those enjoying themselves. ]

[Satou has arrived moderately early: She knows she'll need to acclimate to the gradual build of emotions here. Which at least means that she's got her head screwed on right, for now, and has the emotional awareness to be polite.]

You came too? I'm so glad~.

[astralera]

Miss Satou, you look lovely. [ She offers a polite bow in greeting. She's a bit taller than usual owing to the shoes she wears and it brings her slightly closer to Satou's eye level. ]

I answered the Professor's request for musicians.

You look amazing yourself~!

[Satou can't help it: Her curiosity is caught by Era's statement:]

You play music? What instruments?

Thank you. [ Compliments on her appearance are still something Era isn't used to, and she isn't really sure how to respond to them...

But luckily she can brush that aside. ]

If it is small enough to wield in a battlefield then I have some competency, though I favour the harp and the violin.

Really, the harp? I haven't met very many people who can play the harp. [She's a bit envious of that.] I play the violin too. It's helpful for my magic.

Dance Floor

[His observations continue as Dhaos lingers on and around the dance floor. A tall drink of water he is, decked out in a snazzy white tuxedo, watching the humans with disdain. But he spotted one that didn't look human. He decided it was now time for a slight change of action, and he approached this woman with the draconic features, offering a hand to her with a wry smile.]

May I have this dance?

[ Era gives the man a quick, assessing look before offering an equally wry smile in return and placing her hand in his in answer.

If she were one to think about such things Era may note that the stranger is objectively handsome, though not to her tastes. But she's not here to rate the attractiveness of the party-goers regardless (unless, of course, her husband were to walk in sweep her off her feet, but he has always been a special case).

She is here to dance the evening away. To forget that two weeks ago she should have had her wedding ceremony; a proper one, with guests and a reception, rather than the one they had under duress. Aymeric would never begrudge her a night of fun at a party - quite the opposite in fact. So she shall do her best to enjoy herself in his absence. ]

May I ask for the name of my dance partner?

[You'll be okay, Dhaos seeks no romance, least of all with a married woman. Dhaos leads her to the floor and begins leading with a dance with a quick pace befitting the song playing.

While he kept his eyes on his dance partner, he would occasional take a quick glance to see what the humans were doing.]

You, my dear, may call me Dhaos.
Now then, tell me about yourself, and your time in this world?

[ She keeps pace easily, clearly well-versed in the art of dance and fine with him taking the lead. She notes that his attention flits about, but it doesn't bother her in the least - just gives her time to keep an eye on her surroundings.

Era is not good at conversation, really. Especially not when it pertains to herself. Aymeric has always been the conversationalist of the two of them. But she makes a token effort at it. ]

Dhaos. I am Era Ra de Borel. I am an adventurer, and have been here for just over one month.

What of you?

[Dhaos continues to lead, even as the music shifted to a slower one. He'll keep a reasonable distance during the Waltz.]

[things have more or less settled into a more or less even pace, or at least onehe can breathe in, more or less-- and he offers her a bland smile]

So... Ready to rock it?

[ She tilts her head to look at him, offering a hesitant smile in return. Era forewent her harp or lyre or any of her numerous fifes in favour of her violin not just because she enjoys the instrument more, but also because it's the most 'modern' of the instruments she knows how to play... But that still doesn't mean she understands how she can 'rock' with it.

Regardless, she'll do her best. That's all anyone can do, really. ]

I suppose I am. And you, Professor?

Suppose? Hmm. [he thinks] Alright. Let's have a little practice round or two. Play a song. Anyone you like. Let's see what you got, chica.

[ Era falls silent for a few moments, pondering what to play. Most of the modern songs she knows aren't very 'rock', and the classical ones she knows are classical. She doesn't dare play any of the ones she composed herself - there is too much magic in them.

Eventually she decides on the theme from a pirate movie her friend Rose had made her watch so many months ago. It's a bit of a modern jig on; a mix of violin and fiddle. It reminds her of the decks of Limsa Lominsa.

It's also very, very fun to play, if the way her face lights up and the tip of her tail sways like a metronome to the beat is any indication. ]

[he listens to her for a moment. He feels he somewhat knows this but not enough to place it. Still knows enough to play with her. At first playing with her and then in the appropriate moment, showing her how to rock it.]

Hotel Lobby

Ten is waving and smiling at Era with eye contact and doesn't seem to notice the horns or tail or least doesn't act like that's strange in any aspect.

"Hallo."

States the stranger in the blue pinstripe and sitting sideways in the chair with his red sandshoes sticking out to one side and his knees crisscrossing.

"How are you this evening?"

If anything his voice is warm and comforting.

Era returns the wave and smile with her own. If she is at all hesitant it doesn't show, though she does keep a polite distance from the man when she moves into a more comfortable range for conversation.

"Hello. I am well, thank you. And you?"

His accent reminds her of one she might hear in Eorzea - perhaps in some of the low born in Ishgard. She feels a sudden pang of homesickness; longing for her dear Aymeric in particular. Her own accent is something most similar to a classic Old English, though mixed with undertones of the various, softer accents one would find across the British Isles. A gentle accent for a gentle voice.

"Brillant." Then cocks his head a bit curiously and in an apologetic and slow voice remarks; "I'm sorry - was it something I said?"

She seems taken aback by his question; confused. "I beg your pardon?"

Nevermind, "Have you ever been to a dance before?"

Mind if I cut in? [ McCree arrives, in all his splendor, sometime between the dances. His date for the evening has (smartly) wandered off for the time being, probably to get some punch or to generally not be seen in McCree's presence for longer than necessary. A smart move, but that means he's left on his own and let's face it — that's never a good thing.

He grins at her, a hand extended and his hat tipped up so he can see her face properly. Yes or no, Era. Choose wisely. ]

[ It hasn't been often that she has been asked to dance instead of the reverse, so she's initially surprised by the offer. He's wearing a hat styled like one she found in Eureka, which would not be odd if they weren't at a formal dance. But Era has seen stranger outfits in stranger situations, and people can wear whatever they like, so she isn't bothered by it.

Depending on who is asked, Era does not in fact choose wisely. She accepts the hand extended her her, a bemused smile on her face. ]

You were the man with Hanzo.

[ Not a question. And not said with any hostility - just stated as fact. Because of course she'd keep an eye out for one of the very few friends she's made since her arrival to Genessia. ]

[ He's also 37 years old and attending a prom originally aimed at teenagers. At least he looks nice, though? His hair's pulled back into a ponytail, his beard is trimmed, and he doesn't have a cigar in his mouth (Hanzo probably put a stop to that real quick).

In McCree's eyes, she's made the best choice. It takes him a second longer than necessary to comment, like he's thinking hard about something. Eh, giving his real name - or part of it - won't hurt anyone. Not here, anyway. ]

'Sright. Name's Jesse. [ He tips his hat forward and nods his head in greeting, his other hand curling around hers and squeezing gently. ] You a friend a his?

[astralera]

[ Era would much rather dance with an older man than a child, so his being a decade older is no issue. Especially when he's not much older than her husband. Other than that he's nothing like Aymeric. Or Estinien. Or most of the men she's met since leaving Eorzea, actually.

In Eorzea though, Hanzo's friend would definitely fit in.

She notes the delay but thinks nothing of it. It's not any of her business, and it isn't as though she hasn't done the same countless times. Taking a moment to think of an answer; consider your words carefully.

When he - Jesse - speaks Era's eyes light up. She wasn't paying much attention to his voice before, but the twang to his voice is something she's never heard before. It's interesting. ]

Jesse. I've a good friend by that name back home. [ The backbone of Garlond Ironworks, always keeping Cid in line. Frightening when she feels like it, but kind and honest. ] I'm Era.

[ She isn't positive if Hanzo views her as a friend, but the reverse is true. It's with this in mind that she phrases her answer. ] Hanzo is my friend.
