GENESSIA PROM!

I - SETUP (12:00pm-5:00pm)

For any and all who agreed to help with the decorations, this would be the time to gather at the Hotel. A large list of assignments will be posted on the wall near the entrance, with duties including but not limited to:

1. Setting Tables, including placement of centerpieces
2. Wall and ceiling decorations, involving a lot of
gossamer drapery and lights
3. Preparing the buffet table, with a mixture of hot and cold foods, as well as a separate table at the end for delectable deserts
4. Getting all necessary equipment on stage for the Live Band to perform.  Sound Checks may occur throughout.
5. A side dressing room area set up exclusively for those who volunteered to take the time to get ready themselves, including special hair and makeup stations and a large rack to hang their dresses & shoes to change into later

II - HOTEL LOBBY (6:30pm onward)

Cozy and luxurious in its own right, those who arrive before Prom is scheduled to begin will be allowed to lounge in the Hotel Lobby for a spell. Meeting and greeting other early birds and partaking in a select few hors d'oeuvre made available while waiting for the doors to open

III. - PROM PHOTOS!

In the far corner of the lobby, a cute backdrop will be set up, ready for any and all couples/groups/brave souls going stag for the evening to take a memorable photograph! Selfies are welcome throughout, but for those desiring a more professional setup, Hikari Yagami will be on hand for the first and last hours of the night for "official" Prom Photos.

Smile, everyone!

IV - EATING/DRINKING

With a "bar" consisting of 90% nonalcoholic beverages--the remaining ten percent reserved for of age chaperones--and a buffet table spanning the length of the side wall, there will be no shortage of food options that night!  Hot pasta dishes, cold sandwiches, fruits, vegetable platters, and a special end section devoted to some of the best sweets Genessia's bakeries have to offer!

Of course, what prom would be complete without the traditional Fruit Bowl Punch?  Better get a sip in early, though...because some traditions never die, and it's not like those in charge can keep an eye on that bowl the entire night, can they?

V. - DANCE FLOOR

With a live band (Thank you, Professor!) ready to rock, you'll soon be dancing the night away, under ethereal decorations that will really make you feel like you're dancing among the stars!

In between sets, there will be a DJ spinning a mixture of slow dances, crowd favorites, and songs that'll really get the party rockin'
(LMFAO style).

VI. - CHAPERONES

Because somebody's got to make sure the kids behave.

Hopefully actual adults who can behave themselves.

VII. - MINGLING/MISC.

What other shenanigans could the teens and tweens of Genessia possible get up to?  The night is young, and so are they~

Happy to answer, just the same.

[As she comfortably keeps with his pace, he smiles wider. That means he can do some more advanced moves yet.]

Have you done this before? In that case...

[Out of the box they go into more circular, natural rhythms, easily flitting about.]

Hah, for the dance? Why, it'd be improper to do so with anyone else before yourself.

[Perhaps she meant the prom in general...]
weavemyownfate: (annoyance)

[personal profile] weavemyownfate 2018-05-23 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
[For Satsuki this isn't unlike their sparring sessions; it isn't difficult to anticipate his movements with what she's studied. Before she can answer he raises the level a bit which, again, she manages to keep up with.

But what really surprises her is that lack of unpleasantness. She had seen dancing as an opportunity to practice her discipline but she could almost describe this as fun.

That said, a slightly annoyed look is given to Ted.
]

I am talking about the prom. Someone as social as yourself surely has no shortage of options closer to your tastes.
youfool: (lol)

[personal profile] youfool 2018-05-23 01:02 pm (UTC)(link)
[That makes him chortle, both for her annoyance and the oddly complimentary insinuation.]

Haha, doubtless! Don Juan may well be my prototype. What would you know about my tastes, eh?

[Now for their most advanced move yet: a spin. He extended his arm to give her a twirl, hoping she pulls it off before pulling her back close.]

Well, one of my tastes is for women who know how to live. Those who stay the course I admire very much. You've lived in the world, astoundingly, longer than I have, and not once have either given up on the other. Unlike fencing, that's one skill I should not like to surpass.

[He talks during the dance smoothly, not missing a single step.]

We've known each other very long, haven't we? Might as well be several lifetimes, by Genessia's inconstant standards. And in all that time, I can hardly believe I've never offered an invitation like this. To take a lady dancing, I mean. Ha, were I you I'd be quite cross, but then you've always treated my procrastination very gently.

[As he talks, he incorporates rises and falls to vary their movements and give their dance a floating, melodic quality.]

Can't blame a man for capturing fortune, eh? Besides, I like you, especially in that dress.

You speak of it more than you may believe; I just do not comment on it.

[Though she bases on what he believes to be a 'proper' lady to be the same as his ideal. Hardly perfect, but enough for her to believe she doesn't match. His clarification brings her pause, not enough for her to flub the twirl completely but there is a pause that only an expert might catch. Having never actually been twirled before, she's brought back in with slightly flushed cheeks due to the strange sensation.]

In regards to 'Genessia's inconstant standards' I completely agree. And I suspect my servitude toward Nova City, be it Guardian or Deputy, making connections, on top of my other obligations would have something to do with having not asked earlier. It doesn't seem until the start of this year that I have more time than I know what to do with.

[She steadily grows more comfortable, as if she hadn't been twirled at all, but she can't help but give him a slightly confused look in the end.]

What are you saying? You have captured fortune long before asking me to the prom.

[Satsuki knows she's rocking her dress. She didn't necessarily pick it because she liked it- Her intent is to appear the more stunning than Weiss.]

Eheh, well, thank you for being so discrete with my indiscretions on what's loved in the other sex.

[True enough; Ted finds the feminine attractive by its own, original qualities; mannishness of any stripe is out. And, as evidenced by taking so long to outdo her in swordsmanship, she's not exactly Helen of Troy. Still, in reality it hadn't bothered him as much as he might've expected. Are his ideals all fantasy, or has time and familiarity eroded them?]

Haha. So it wasn't tardiness, but the contrary: good judgment and timing. How lovely it is that serendipity has all the surety of a scheme. You flatter so well; we ought to marry.

[Satsuki had said something similar when he went to boot camp. "I'd like to do this sudden undertaking." "I wanted you to. Just as planned." As though nothing he thought original fell out of her mind, like she were the Illuminati. So long as she's flattering...]

I'm happy to fill your newfound time, nonetheless. Have I been opportunistic before? Do tell.

[Hold that thought; he'll throw in another maneuver, this time motioning for a mutual back turn, where both spin before returning to their positions.]

[Satsuki isn't certain how she feels about being thanked for her being discrete- In the beginning she thought he acted the way he did to get a rise out of her, not that she'd ever admit to that. Her thoughts have changed since then, of course. In contrast to all his words, her response is:]

I decline.

[Satsuki continues to keep up with Ted. She feels more comfortable with the back turn, though can't help but be impressed with the end result. In all her preparation, she had never even considered they would possess natural chemistry on the dance floor.]

The name you have given me says it all, does it not?

[She won't claim to be a professional on tarot cards, but she had to at least research what in the world 'The Star' represented.]
youfool: (meditate)

[personal profile] youfool 2018-05-26 01:46 am (UTC)(link)
[He's eager to test Satsuki's upper limit on waltz, upping the complexity and varying their motions. Going one way, then another, swerving to this side or retreating back suddenly. He motioned for a whisk, then did a few more inside and outside turns.]

All right, now develope!

[That's ballroom speak for "kick", which he'd enjoy if she did. Just how much research did she do, he wondered? Or had she done it all before?]

Ah, the name? While it's very fortunate to find a star...

[Is this his chance to wax occult? He accepts, naturally. But so absorbed their movements become simpler.]

It says...growth. The actualization of potential. Becoming. The transformation from alpha to omega. Hope from supernal heights, materialized and directed to true creativity, nurturing with Waters of Life.

[All said very dreamily, almost as though in a trance.]

Something along those lines.

['Now develop!'. Satsuki's eyes widen. She's familiar with the term (mostly because of Nonon) but she wasn't going to perform one in a dress. The lack of such makes the turn end somewhat awkwardly.]

... You're asking for the impossible.

[She mumbles under her breath. But she continues as if the error hadn't happened at all. She does appear attentive as he speaks on.]

That is what I was getting at, yes. Though while we are on the subject, I confess I am curious if you take company with other Arcana.
youfool: (diffident smile)

[personal profile] youfool 2018-05-30 03:03 pm (UTC)(link)
[Wears a kamui, won't even show any leg. For shame(lessness).]

Ahah. "Impossible", or undesirable? Well, there's other steps.

[Not that he's in much hurry for more complexities, now that symbolic ones occupy his attention. The Trumps, one of his favorite subjects.]

Not as many as I'd like. I may have had intercourse with Death and The Devil, but they were, fittingly, short-lived.

[He sounds a bit melancholy about that.]

Koishi, you might find, is rather Moon-y. Her sister has aspects of Force. And there's the Magician, who's...well, burgeoning, at best. That one sometimes be something of a charlatan.

But sometimes the world--not The World, I mean Genessia--seems rather like your antipode: The Tower. Aheh, which must be very frustrating for you if true. Artificial, constructed growth versus the natural and continual. Some false edifice crying out for destruction. Not all Trumps, I suppose, enjoy personification.

[The dance slows in accord with his own more thoughtful contemplation.]

But perhaps I've met more, and was too blind to see? Even the ones I have can't help but feel incomplete. I'm a little covetous of you in that way; your ability to see, I mean, and your faith or willingness to realize what's seen. An artist of persons, perhaps. Then again, what is light good for, if not to bring dark things to light?

[A little ironic, given his horrifically dark goku uniform. Hope she's not getting tired of this frivolous talk; he could go the whole evening like this.]

One I'd like to see is the Sun, in particular. If you, the Moon, and they got together, that'd complete a very welcome trinity.

[personal profile] weavemyownfate 2018-06-02 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
[Don't judge her you don't know her or her pain!]

The Devil? [A pause as she furrows her brows in thought for just a moment; which just so happens to be the perfect time to ignore his question of 'impossible' vs 'undesirable'.] I wonder if I want to know who that was.

[His distraction is always in her favor; the more he talks the easier it is to keep up with Ted's movements and the less she has to talk- the more desirable outcome in an outing like this since she's learned hanging around Ayame that she's terrible at talking about herself in a casual manner. Her frown noticeably deepens at the comparison of The Tower. That's just so real it's a bit painful.]

I am forced to admit that the possibility is certainly there in regards to the Tower. Unfortunately even if that turns out to be the truth, the 'solution' still eludes me.

But the longer I am here, the less I believe myself to be someone to be envied. Ambition alone can only get you so far- It is ironic in a way as I am confident I am capable of inspiring anyone. Anyone but myself.

[In that light meeting 'The Sun' sounds desirable, but doesn't seem realistic. She takes a moment to glance to the side. She has another question but she keeps it to herself for now.]
youfool: (diffident smile)

[personal profile] youfool 2018-06-03 01:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Aheh, only the morbid do. Wouldn't do any good; the Devil certainly never means any.

[It was Chara, but she'll be gone soon, so woohoo! Ted prefers talking about realities, even mystic realities. Talk of self seems to edge so dangerously close to narcissism and self-regard; he'd like nothing better than to talk about things. Truth, a resource Genessia sorely lacks.]

Eheh, your academy certainly calls the Tower to mind, eh? A very tall construction. The solution for Towers, as ever, is the divine thunderbolt. The answer to hubris is humility; "he who exalts himself will be abased", and vice-versa. A heavenly reality check for worldly baseness. Hah, perhaps you'd like God's wrath to come a little sooner?

[Much as he dislikes Towers, their destruction is rarely much fun for anyone, however necessary.]

Well, that Trump's hopeful too, in its way; it proclaims that no falsehood will go on indefinitely. Sooner or later the thing will come down, and it will be a cause of rejoicing, even if it feels like death.

[The dance is very slow and methodical now, matching his words, which meant to imply that Satsuki, who seemed to be enjoying a kind of death, might do well to do so.]

Aheh, well envy--sorrow over another's good--isn't good for anyone. Nor, do I think, we're meant to inspire ourselves. Not through ourselves, certainly.

[After having looked into her eyes so long, even Ted can notice when they divert their gaze.]

Star, is something the matter? Would you like to retire and talk of it?
weavemyownfate: (shokku)

[personal profile] weavemyownfate 2018-06-06 04:02 am (UTC)(link)
[Her expression is surprisingly neutral as he speaks, and Satsuki continues to follow along seemingly with little, if any, effort. She eventually decides really shouldn't be surprised by the bit of preaching.]

Technically that wrath has already taken place. Once upon a time, I had declared attendance at Honnouji to be mandatory- you could imagine how well that went.

However it did not go so poorly that it had gotten physically taken down.

[There's a pause as she realizes she had just brought down the mood and as a result she visibly cringes.]

I.. Would rather not have this evening be about my grievances.

Aheh, yes, I know just what you mean.

[With the necromancy ban, he too had tried to add force to rightness, and learned the futility of compulsion, however well-intended. His expression pulls back, a little, before softening.]

I understand. Well, you've been on the receiving end of my anxieties, and always bore them patiently. Turnabout's fair play.

[The song, and their waltz, was coming to an end, so he took her hand up to turn her a few times.]

Know that however the winds of fate should whirl-

[Once she came back, he'd step to the side, stretching his left leg and softening his knees to support her leaning back. The denouement of every dance should, of course, end with a dip. And a metaphor.]

I won't let you fall.

[Satsuki moves along well enough with the turns, though that's to be expected at this point! For a moment, she does have to agree that in terms of balance, the scale tips far more to Ted's side- not that she thought that out of the ordinary until fairly recent.

However that metaphor, along with its delivery, completely kills her desire to reconsider sharing anything, and her eyes half-lid.
]

That remains to be seen.

[Ok, that might have been bitchier than necessary. Following a pause, she decides to share after all.]

The number of people that come and go is astounding- I have seen so many make the same mistakes, and ask the same questions. Which made me realize that information about this world is also not cycling. While we appear to be the exceptions, I have no doubt that eventually I will not be here, or I will return with no memory of what I had accomplished before and so I have been working to obtain information that I may pass along to anyone who may stumble across it.

But I have very little to show for my efforts here; and that frustrates me.
youfool: (concern)

[personal profile] youfool 2018-06-12 12:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Hehe, didn't like that one, eh?

[Note to self: not a fan of the schmaltz. He'll have to recite poetry later just to make sure. He listens, frowning slightly at her worries, especially at "no doubt that...". Being exceptional in existence was what he was coming to value most.]

Let's find a place to sit.

[He leads the way back to the lobby, away from noise.]

"No doubt"? What makes you say--what makes disappearing so inevitable?

[And that's just the start of the questions.]

This is all a little vague. What mistakes do you mean? What information isn't cycling? Why would a simple journal, or the GSRF--which has a similar function--not suffice?

[The last one makes him chuckle.]

And why would "stumbling" be the preferred method of discovery?

[What "efforts" she meant he'd ask later.]
weavemyownfate: (arms crossed)

[personal profile] weavemyownfate 2018-06-14 10:33 pm (UTC)(link)
[That isn't entirely true. Satsuki's intake of grovelers is incredibly lacking these days. Rather than say it, she shakes her head to answer his question, then follows along from there.]

It is the conclusion I have come to- We have seen many others come and go, but for whatever reason people like you and I have been around far longer than others.

We know that Genessia needs us, but for whatever reason beings like you and I have been around far longer than most. What is it that we are doing differently or harboring? If we could determine that, that would be immensely useful information.

Mistakes are an issue I will have to go into another time.

As for information; take the door in The Bay, for instance. I would wager only a few of us here even know about it- if the others who know go away, that information disappears unless the GSRF does hold records of it.

You raise an interesting point- I should pay them a visit and see what they do have.

[As for 'stumbling' question, Satsuki frowns a little more.]

Because I have not, at present, decided whom to pass my belongings to once my use passes. Luke was to be my protégé, but.. When he disappeared, I decided that was not longer a sufficient plan.
youfool: (neutral)

[personal profile] youfool 2018-06-15 01:21 am (UTC)(link)
[It's hard times for the grovel-starved everywhere.]

Aheh, "beings"? Interesting word choice...

["People" would've been his preferred address. He leans forward, steepling his hands pensively.]

The reason for that, as best as I can guess, if that we...well, exhibit life the best. Or at least as compatibly as Genessia likes.

[There's no easy way to say this that doesn't put a pall on those who went away, many of whom Ted dearly missed. But hey, truth hurts.]

We know that that, however vaguely, is the internal quality Genessia seeks. And...well, haven't you noticed a kind of ennui on those who leave? They don't socialize as much. Don't strike up new acquaintances or get up to any novel adventures or mischief. Less active with their communicators. Settle into routines.

That's my best guess, anyway. When people begin to sleepwalk through life...the world's about as done with them as they are with Genessia.

[The mention of Luke gets a solemn nod. Hoo, things are getting dark. How about a joke?]

Heh, not fond of entrusting to your mother, eh? Well, you'll find the GSRF to be cagey; they won't tell unless you ask the right questions. I know all they do anyway; you might as well ask me.

[Once he knew the "Trick", he circumvented their methods and badgered the poor secretaries until they threw their hands up and satisfied every curiosity they could. He would feel bad for them, but then remembered they weren't people and, even so, worked for Weiss, and thus quickly forgot about it.]
weavemyownfate: (not sure if want)

[personal profile] weavemyownfate 2018-06-16 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
Is it? I figured you would have seen even more differing species about here than I.

[That said she takes in Ted's hypothesis with an attentive look. It certainly sounds plausible.]

That seems sound, though I have a more difficult time gathering data on those that actually do vanish. It certainly feels like Genessia has been more populated than usual these last couple months based on the network transmissions though.

Interesting thought; but what I suspect is that one of the various spirits within the know the actual answer.

[A pause, then her brow raises. Ragyo?]

If it were only that simple. But that is useful to know, about the GSRF. At the moment my mind is a bit scattered, so I believe it would be best to direct my questions to you at a later date.
youfool: (hmm)

[personal profile] youfool 2018-06-16 03:30 am (UTC)(link)
Ahah, you were trying to be broad. Well, the species all act human enough. I can't say the souls of any were especially alien.

[Ted may well be the strangest creature of them all.]

Thaha, yes, getting data on those who aren't here must be tremendously difficult. 'Tis rather a work of history, or etiology.

You think we're getting a surplus? I can't say the ratio of churn has gotten better; for every one that comes in, another goes out. Memoria Park will tell as much.

Oh, no that's the answer the spirits gave exactly. They search for those with "compatibility" in order to demonstrate life. Vague, granted, but as about half of us make the cut, it would seem even they're not entirely sure what they're after and about.

[Even Ted can sense that if she wasn't in the partying mood before, she definitely wasn't now with thoughts so perturbed.]

I see. Would you like some time to mingle with others?
weavemyownfate: (converse)

[personal profile] weavemyownfate 2018-06-21 11:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmn.

[Satsuki would say she looks more at talents than souls, but she does nod- both to the mention of difficult tasks as well as the plausibility that her assessment may not be accurate. If only Inumuta were here to crunch the hard numbers...]

That is... annoyingly vague. But not unexpected. It is tricky figuring out what the 'correct' question to ask is.

[Mingling? She'll probably just wander and stare at Hikari like a creeper again, tbh. But she does have one more question.]

I have a question first. Do you know what you would wish for if you had the opportunity to make one here?
youfool: (meditate)

[personal profile] youfool 2018-06-22 03:33 am (UTC)(link)
Eheh, just like the spirits, eh? One wonders why they're so shy of telling things. Then again, it's not unheard of for sensitive information to be abused.

[Hence why people are starting to find him a little cagey himself. There's a slight tensing of his face when she asks about a wish, for he has the means for one already, and has yet to decide what to do.]

...no, not exactly. If it were to secure a good only a wish could grant, I'd go for whatever the highest good was so available. Probably to...save someone, or remove an obstacle in saving them if other means wouldn't avail. This world is so obviously imperiled, despite the...

[He looked around at the fancy ball with an ironical smile.]

Celebrations we keep. Not that I don't enjoy them, mind.

If they are anything like me, it is likely a 'need to know' line of thinking. Though your theory also stands true; a certain vampire is a shining example of that.

[As for Ted's wish, Satsuki can't say she's surprised with his response, just disappointed. How disgustingly saccharine (given her interpretation of the word 'save' in this case), and her frown increases.

At least she doesn't find the slightest thing suspicious about his tension. She shakes her head.
]

... I suspected as such. I would wish for a tool to move forward.

[And with that she gets to her feet.]

I shall be on my way, then. There is someone I would like to catch up with- though I shan't be too long.

[personal profile] youfool 2018-07-12 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
And yet, they dole that knowledge so out like a reward, seemingly irrespective of need. Their behavior is very queer.

[If only Satsuki had more varied expressions than frowning, her displeasure would be easier to detect. As it is, he straightens up, and smiles.]

"Forward", eh? A comparative with a conspicuously absent superlative. Forward to what, I wonder?

[But he's content to let that, and her, go.]

Oh, take your time. The night's still young, and there's dancing yet to do.
